Unlike his fight with Ahsoka and Obi Wan those two had to use there environment to win at times without there battle iq in the right place they are finish and if Maul was not cocky they would be finished 99 percent of the time. There is also a deleted scene with Maul force griping and slaming Palps to a wall...so that just tells me how powerful Faloni and Lucas thought he was at that time lol.

I wasn’t a fan of the animations because it just didn’t look or feel right. Filoni chewed up a lot of Maul’s ‘screen time’ that the comic books handled better.
The biggest tragedy was Disney buying the franchise and shafting Lucas, the fans...and Ray Park as Maul! This video, itself, serves as a far note exciting story line then what Filoni gave us.

A few things here: Sidious kidnapped child Maul as soon as he discovered his potential in the force (being greater even than that of Mother Talzin, as it is said in the video), and decided to abandon Dathomir immediately having even more promising student. Later he said that the loss of Maul was a truly great one for him, compared to Dooku, who was just a tool (even though Dooku was very powerful himself). Even during the Clone Wars, after Sidious became aware of Maul's return, he called him a RIVAL, and did in fact choose to handle the matter personally, which proves in how high regard he held his former apprentice. At the end I believe it truly was Maul's arrogance and overconfidence, not a lack of the skills that prevented him from achieving even more than he already did.

I know soon as Vader was placed in the suit and noticed how difficult it was for him to connect to the force was depressing when he had the purest connection prior to his fall at Mustafar. I see why he mentally was never the same after losing Padme, his best friend Obi-Wan, and all of his remaining limbs within minutes. And then to find out you are doomed to remain a slave when you once had the power to destroy the Emperor and shape the galaxy to your will but now have to be a slave to him as well with no sight of hope to overcome it. I know his selfishness and lust for that power is what eventually aided his demise but the way the story is told is incredible. The style Maul used was dedicted to defeated jedi who used the same style as Qui-gon and Dooku. its why dooku was 2nd string apprentice vs first as maul was. He had youth, ability, and potential. Nobody could judge that better than Sidious in all of star wars history. So i will happily say maul would have been much greater than dooku by a good margin alone because sidious only turned to dooku after maul's defeat. Otherwise he wouldve been another bitter jedi council master andgry with the times.
Dooku knew this well, its why he didnt bat an eye when Skywalker replaced him. Dooku is a beast dont get me wrong, but in terms of possibilities he was at his end right at the beginning of him going to the darkside. But for Maul and Skywalker.... the sky was the limit. Dooku was just born to late i guess idk lol but he knew he was the side piece for Sidious not the main.

I think this really just shows how impressive George Lucas is, because if he created Darth Maul as a character that was meant to be killed off and cast aside, a character not meant to be too important, and yet that character became far more iconic and awesome than George realized, then that just shows how quality his Star Wars really is. Darth Vader was meant to be the most important character, and he became an absolute icon, he’s one of the greatest and coolest villains of all scifi. It’s like everything George made ended up being greater than it was meant to be. Similar thing with Boba Fett too.

This really makes me think what if Palpatine made mother Talzin his apprentice and demonstrated to him how night sister magic works? Dathomir would become a devastating force with magically enhanced night brothers to act as a counter to the Jedi, using probably sith warrior tactics but not the face of the rule of 2, rather their own shadow army that grows during the clone wars, until finally order 66 is commenced, where they begin to act, hunting Jedi the clones couldn’t find. This force then acts as the inquisitors, with mother Talzin keeping Dathomir and Palpatine to run the empire. Should the day come when Talzin decides to strike down sidious and take his place, she could begin to utilize all sith knowledge with her magic, which honestly is more terrifying than the Deathstar altogether.

He could be and was a beast in force power, but got outthought more than once. Part of this could be put down to being raised as a sith assassin versus an actual dark lord, but id guess his personality wasnt deep or cunning per se. He was very much A to B in his goals. He was blunt, like a oh....a maul maybe?
He never played games, he never really got into that sith power game mentality. Id guess if things on naboo had gone differently he would have been perfectly content to stay a minion, getting to wreck whoever he was pointed at.

Considering Lucas confirmed loss of body parts directly corresponds with force potential, and Maul lost a full half, but then still managed to be better than Kenobi, and also better than Ahsoka who had been boosted by the Daughter by that point, he'd easily be on a comparable level to Vader after his bisection. Rebels confirms that while Ahsoka is still weaker than Vader, she's close enough to put up a good fight against him, and that Maul was significantly stronger than her, further clarifying that he had to be extremely close to Vader's level at minimum in the form we did see him. Since he was originally considered to be the main villain of the sequels (which sounds way better than what we got,) this means thematically he would also need to be similar to other main villains. We never got an easy way to directly compare Maul to Dooku one-on-one, but considering his form 7 style was directly connected to the strength of his force power, and he was still seemingly equal to Vader, he'd probably be a better duelist.

  • @TheFireHawk7
    @TheFireHawk7 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Not disputing for one moment Maul's vast power and potential, but a couple of things are worth noting.
First, the Darth Plagueis novel explicitly has Plagueis (THE expert on the subject) say that high midichlorian counts don't necessarily scale to Force talents. Therefore, the inverse must be true: even if Maul is stripped a chunk of his physical body and thus midichlorians, supposedly, then that does not necessarily limit him. Consider the example of wheelchair users, or those missing a limb - the rest of the body learns to compensate. The upper body, in the former case, becomes much stronger to compensate for the strain it's put under, sometimes stronger than it ever could have been otherwise - to use the dam metaphor, one gate is locked, another is opened. In short, I don't think losing legs massively impacted his Force potential.
Now, Vader is actually different; he lost all four limbs, and, crucially, suffered immense damage to his surviving body - burns, smoke inhalation, he was roasted alive. What survived was a barely living husk, needing a constant life support suit, special chamber, or a bacta tank to even LIVE. The only Sith Lord who took a bigger beating was Darth Sion - another argument against the 'injury equals loss of power'. Vader's potential would be impacted because he's barely even alive. It's also worth noting that in spite of this, Maul fought Vader between ROTS and Rebels - while he impressively managed to escape alive, he also came through it with a steady determination never to do so again, because he knows he's not a match for Vader. Then again, aside from running the Crimson Dawn for a while, we don't really KNOW much of what he got up to between Mandalore and Malachor.
Additionally, Anakin's best showings are AFTER he's lost a limb, to Dooku on Geonosis. There's no mention of it being a limitation, not even on Mortis, when the Father tests him and he's arguably at the height of his powers. In other words, if the Force isn't actively being drawn on to keep him alive/shore up his physical health, then I don't see how it would weaken Maul.
Second, whenever Maul overpowers Obi-Wan in the Force, Obi-Wan is angry or afraid and emotionally unbalanced, ruining his focus in the Force. Maul explicitly taunts him about it when he and Savage are fighting Obi-Wan and Ventress. Now look again at Obi-Wan's expression when fighting Maul and Savage after Adi is killed, especially just before the push, after he's sliced Savage's arm off. His expression is positively feral, he's gleeful that Savage is hurt, that Maul is in pain, he's bared his teeth, he's out for blood. He's focused on the kill, but not in the Force.
Also note that Maul did not pursue that fight. He didn't want to punish Obi-Wan further, or even make a fight of their retreat. Instead, he and Savage are running for their lives as Kenobi is after them, out for their blood.
I think that Maul's main weakness is his limited education (Palpatine mainly having taught him how to be an assassin), and the decade plus he lost after Naboo of developing his skills in the Force - and over time, he was compensating for that.

I think Darth Sidious feared Mauls true potential when he attacked him and Savage, it wasn't about political power, Darth Maul was only beginning to expanded his criminal empire while Sidious had the entire Galaxy on his side. He could've sent any number of his footsoldiers to deal against Maul but no, Sidious PERSONALLY came after Maul, you don't do such thing unless its dead serious! In hindsight, Sidious knew if Maul continued to grow as a crime lord the Dark Side within him would make him grow as well and increase his overall Force Ability. If Maul had full confidence in himself, stopped fearing his former master and allowed Dark Side to fuel him he could've gotten the upper hand against Sidious and together with Savage they could've overwhelmed the Emperor

It’s crazy, but most people grossly underestimate Darth Maul
It’s funny because Darth Maul’s greatest force feat in canon scales above Darth Tyranus’s
He destroyed the hyper drive of the venator in S7 of The Clone Wars.
Another thing that I think is absolutely hilarious Is that most people think that because Dooku can use the force to do all different kinds of tricks that means that he’s automatically better than or has a higher force connection or aptitude than someone like Darth Maul or Anakin Skywalker because they use the force to augment their physical abilities, rather than to diversify their force skill set
    Hilarious.
I guarantee you that, if Dooku used the force to augment his physical abilities next to Anakin and Darth Maul, and they had a bench pressing contest, Dooku would loose handily.
I personally believe that Darth Maul’s, and Anakin Skywalker’s force level, connection, and or aptitude are higher than Dooku’s

It's funny you said "short end of the stick" as he definitely got the stick of which gave him a short end!

His people are also witches, if he didn’t focus purely on physical combat, he’d be terrifying.

If Vader was only 80% of Sidious' power, then how was he able to break Sidious' force shield and push him back into the wall?

Legends Vader was 80 percent of Sidious power according to Lucas as was Dooku And Maul I could believe Vader being 80 percent of Sidious power but not Dooku and definitely not Maul in Legends most statements imply that in terms of potential Luke over Galen And Galen Over Suited Vader And Suited Vader Over Dooku And Dooku Over Maul And Maul Over Asajj And Asajj Over Grievous And Grievous Over Durge yeah.

Anakin was much more powerful than Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan force pushed Anakin and caught him off guard. Then Anakin started to over power him and they were both knocked back.
You can’t just pick and choose what you want to “power scale” people.
Maul was definitely insanely powerful. Being the son of The Great Mother definitely made him strong AF.
    Great video, well done mate.

I've said it once, along with thousands of other people I'm sure, but bringing Maul was one of the greatest ideas in all of Star Wars history. And how they played him was absolutely perfect. The only thing that I would have changed is having him battle Vader at some point during Rebels when they were in that pyramid. But it would have been neat if he fought Vader with Ezra and then left him to die when he realized he wasn't going to win the fight

Just thought it would be prudent to mention that when obi wan matched anakins force push in their duel that was with (if you count the scarring and loss of limbs as reduced force potential) anakin is at around 90% potential because he already has a lost limb. 10% doesn't sound like much but it's huge when you consider how much potential 100% is
