I love how obvious it is that you love and are passionate about what you do. You're an expert with a great attitude and not even the slightest hint of arrogance. Your friendliness (and expertise too, of course) is what got me to switch from my original tuner to you. Thanks for continuing to kick ass, Alan!
I just ordered this intake and some spark plugs from y’all. I love how detailed you guys are with y’all’s videos it has helped me understand my ST so much more.
Glad to know the intake does help out. I will be picking up a focus this weekend! Can't wait to see how all these exhaust sound and perform. I'll be hitting you up for an E tune soon!
IT DOES. I used one and it makes a huge difference.. instead of asking your car for power... the *response time* once your foot hits the accelerator and you get a response is significant.. I had to back off the gas as much. 1 thing I noticed added power too. Ground your spark plugs. Run a negative cable close to the valve cover! You'll be surprised. I'm an electrician and the amount of resistance is *significant enough* to get free power.
Love the video guys.. I was wondering if are still providing E tunes for those of us living in California I just got a focus st and can’t wait to slap some goodies on it, would really love to get tuned by you hopefully in the near future… this series has been great by the way !
we can absolutely e-tune a car in CA, but with your strict regulations, a tuned car _in general_ won't pass emissions... send your deets to tuning@edgeautosport.com if you want to get the process started.
I’m buying this Intercooler for my Focus ST today , It sounds amazing! I just bought my race red ST 3 weeks ago because my fbo 09 wrx got totaled, I’m definitely going to cut a peice of hr Plexiglass will holes drilled in the top and fit it on top the filter so it looks clean & can breathe like there’s no cover.
Can't wait for the exhaust video! I haven't bought one for my '17 ST yet. Would love if you could include a Mountune, FSWerks, and Ford Performance but I know you have to draw the line somewhere. It does bring back memories of the Focus exhaust shootout that was done on FocalJet back in the early '00's.
@annoyedchef7124 it wasn't, but when you do it every 3 years it gets annoying having to take the air box out when you wouldn't have to move anything at all really if you have the right aftermarket intake
@@richardlapoint1845 on 2013 I don't need to take anything away. Just flip the wall in front of the battery and open the bolts. Then rotate it 90 degrees upwards when pulling out.
The biggest difference is the box design: The Mishi box is enclosed, while the Takeda is a partition style. Otherwise they are both aluminum and have similar filters.
Did you have an issue with a clunking from the airbox in 1/2 after this was installed? Seems like the airbox moves with the torque of the engine and hits the battery box maybe?
j'ai un cold air intake ramair made in uk , avec une big mouth , la température iat est la même voir 2°c en moins que la température ambiant en roulant vite , ramair annonce 12cv de gain je n'ai pas vérifier avant et après au dyno.
Hello friend, a question may be stupid or let's say that it has nothing to do with this video, I am writing to you this way to find out if you have used the mishimoto radiator for the civic 1.5 turbo and if you have used the hoses of it?
Awesome video as always! I know this is off topic but.... do you know if a 2013 Focus ST shifter assembly would work with my 2015 Focus ST. Need a new shifter and my buddy who's parting out his 2013 Focus ST has a short shifter on his. Wanted to use his on my car if possible
I tried to install this today on my 2016 idk how to attach the pcv hose or whatever its called to the piping mine has a sensor and i didnt get any adapter or anything
I've got a stock turbo with a similar intake set up. From what I can tell it is mostly the same. This one sounds just a bit better IMO. Of course I later changed to a true vacuum source for the recirc valve which makes it react completely different.
Yes it will after you take your stock ford rubber plug out. I have a gfb recirc valve myself and it sounds really nice once you change your charge pipes and take the turbo muffler out
Anything that can source cooler, more consistent air temps for the box is a good thing. What the actual results would be is something we haven't tested.
this replaces the stock air box with an all-metal box of their design. There is a hole for the stock air snorkel as well! Check out more photos on our site: edgeautosport.com/mishimoto-performance-air-intake-black-ford-focus-st-2013/
MBRP don't sound very good on the ST imo. I've heard a fee I like better. The Borla for one. The MBRP is one of the cheapest cost wise though and they do use decent quality materials. Had an MBRP on my 2001 Zetec Focus ZX3 years ago andit sounded amazing.
I like MBRP and prefer to support a local Canadian company but I just don't like how the MBRP sounds on the ST. I had an MBRP on my 2001 n/a 2.0 Zetec focus and it sounded amazing. New ones not even close.
What kind of power increase will we see after bolting on the *Mishimoto* intake with the *Garrett Powermax* turbo? Drop your guess below:
You guys are killin it with these videos!
@@nanoman06 Cheers, Glad you love them!
I'm thinking like maybe 5hp and lb/ft? Not really sure what to expect.

Can you show how you do this
Show us!
Glad to see you still killing it Alan, much love to you and the team and the family brother 💯💯

Very nice Alan. I'm happy to be on board. Bring on the tune 🤣I found the same thing when tested the rs airbox

Aw, sorry about the WRX! But nice choice on the FoST and Intake system! That little see-through mod shouldn't be too hard to do!
How did you like going from AWD to FWD? What are your thoughts on the ST? I bought a very clean low mileage Focus RS 1 month ago.
8:50 you guys ready for the turbo noises.yahhh dude
Can't wait for the exhaust

Thermal R&D.
Biggest PITA installing my intake was figuring out I HAD to remove cowl to get in there lol
We did not remove the cowl, but we probably should have! 😅 It is a pain, you are correct
Digging the outro music. Loving the content guys!
Just got my intake for convenience and ease of taking out the battery when needed 🤣🤣. But the noises don't hurt lol
Swapping the battery wasn't that bad 😂

Well I'm definitely getting a mishimoto intake
Good choice! Sounds great, right?
love seeing the videos being put out again !
Definitely need a video with the stock turbo lol but good to know
And the green filter is the best in my opinion
Can’t wait for exhaust vid
We've got two episodes worth of ST exhausts up now! Start with Episode 1: th-cam.com/video/n4_h8N0177w/w-d-xo.html
Alan try the CP-E AUSTENITE exhaust also, CP-E turbo back sounds magical and the quality is amazing.
We run that one on project "full-send".
*has a knife in his hand*
*Proceeds to rip box open instead*
That small box was stapled... not sure the box cutter was going to make it through that. lol!
You should have done it with the Hood down that would make a big difference
No one drives with their hood up
Do you know how this one compartes to the Takeda CAI? Saw it on your website. Not sure which one to go with.
The biggest difference is the box design: The Mishi box is enclosed, while the Takeda is a partition style. Otherwise they are both aluminum and have similar filters.
Love the Intake.
Did you have an issue with a clunking from the airbox in 1/2 after this was installed? Seems like the airbox moves with the torque of the engine and hits the battery box maybe?
We have not noticed any clunking, not yet anyway - even though Alan didn't tighten the mounts down all the way... lol
@@EdgeAutosport very strange. I notice on startup and 1-2 shift. Double checked everything seems right. Back to the drawing board! Haha
@@tylerbrown4932 check your downpipe bushing or hanger they tend to suck and exhaust hits the subframe in some gears

Should be identical.
Is the AC on during the pulls? I know the pcm is supposed to disengage the compressor clutch during WOT but sometimes mine seems slow to turn off.
I tried to install this today on my 2016 idk how to attach the pcv hose or whatever its called to the piping mine has a sensor and i didnt get any adapter or anything
Did this come with the CARB sticker?
It does!
I have a 2017 Civic Si, but I would love to have a Focus St has a second car👌🏾
Very fun car especially after opening it up to stage 2
Love the sound. Would it sound the same on stock turbo?
Yeah most likely. The PMax isn't really all that different from stock.
I've got a stock turbo with a similar intake set up. From what I can tell it is mostly the same. This one sounds just a bit better IMO.

whats done to the car that allowed it to turbo flutter so much?
Going bigger turbo on my ST which would be a more reliable option the gen 2 2867 or the g 550
G series if you got the $$
Did you say 373 hp out of the powermaxx???
It's an excellent little turbo!
I can't remember if he screwed up what he said in the video, but it won't hit 373
I don’t remember saying that but the powermax will not hit 373whp. My guess is 320 at best.
I know I’m a bit late but would a big mouth snorkel help with power loss from the closed box? Thanks!
Anything that can source cooler, more consistent air temps for the box is a good thing. What the actual results would be is something we haven't tested.
What blow off valve/ diverter is on this.
At the time of this video, it's the stock BPV
I love my mbrp on my 14” 😁

Would it be ok drive it with stock tune with this ?
A custom tune is best, certainly. But you shouldn't have any issues running an intake with a stock tune.
@Edge Autosport my question is how about catback nd intake
We can always chase numbers, but holy shit let's not get more maintenance. Leave it on.

Damn that's nasty!
That bov you got on that sucker? That intake Sounded mean. Haha
We actually haven't touched the BOV ...yet. The Garrett Powermax turbo is a little more snarly sounding than stock, for sure.
Nice, I’m really leaning towards the powermax with each video you post.
@@EdgeAutosport do you guys have the powermaxx in stick yet??
@@ronniethompson9013 We have them on order at this moment. We should see them in the next couple weeks. Normally, they should be in stock...but Covid.
What type of blowoff valve you have?
That is a stock valve sound with the intake, believe it or not!
What bov did you go with?
Still stock in this video, but sounds great, right?
would this fit a 2015 SE?
Nope. This is for turbocharged Ecoboost engines only, sorry

loosen the clamps, and wiggle it out of there one piece at a time!
