Just in case anyone is going to install this, you can loosen the cowl without removing the wipers, and get yourself a lot more space to work around. Great video, and I bet it sounds way better now with the large volume!
You need to get an RS air box or put the lid back on the stock box, air temps get out of control quickly with the box open like that, yes it does sound good but, sucking hot air is no good. Just hook up you access port and see how hot inlet temps get. The RS box gives you good sound because of the small opening in the front and keeps temps down, or even modify the stock ST lid to something similar.
4:35 I dropped my ratchet when I was installing my intake and it managed to hit the positive and another piece of metal and it sparked. Never again will I work around the battery without the cover on lol
Nice video as always. great to see you and the car safe + healthy. Love the intake noises an aftermarket intake like this make, got a revo intake myself
Great video! From how I understand the stock tune works, it has torque targets to hit and will pull timing and boost when it hits target so I’m not sure if a stock tune is the best for comparison. That said, I don’t think an intake would make a noticeable difference anyway considering how small stock turbo is
Dude! Shout out from Fayetteville, NC with much love! I’m repping a 2018 Focus ST 2. Your channel has definitely been a godsend for tutorials and installs. Keep pumping out the great videos man 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Everyone always does the sound test with the airbox lit off which is just muddying results. there's a good chance it would sounds similar with the stock intake if you just remove the lid
I got the same intake from Cobb and threw it on a few months ago, but I find it really isn't that loud. It's actually pretty quiet. Do you have a blow off valve? I don't and getting the cobb intake barely made the induction noise any louder
Nice video! Does COBB suggest leaving the air box lid on or off with the CAI? I added their drop in filter to my 2016 ST a couple of years ago, and asked CJ Pony Parts about that. They suggested I put the lid back on the air box when I installed the COBB filter. It seems it really isn't a Cold Air Intake if you're drawing hot air directly from the engine bay. With that said, many CAI's route down to the wheel well. Or; I see on the Roush CAI for the ST, their box seals up against the hood.
Honestly it won’t make too much of a difference, a degree or two of temp. I just leave it off for sound, but you should probably leave it on for the best results.
@@SmolKTN I believe it was off of a popular vinyl website. I can’t remember the name but my CC info ended up being stolen after I shopped with them so I wouldn’t recommend them anyways😅 just look up focus ST badge inlays you’ll find someone who makes em!
I hated installing my JBR 3 inch intake tube....came out of the box pristine, went in the car scratched to shit on the back of the pipe lol lucky no will see that side. Lol JBR sells just the intake pipe as well. (With clamps and couplers, no filter, I just used my stock intake box with a green filter)
It’s basically your k&n rip off but green, but has an open element design besides a blocked off end piece (if that makes sense) I got like 3 K&n filters, my oem motorcraft filter and the green filter all chillin in the garage lol you notice anything performance wise? I haven’t with my 3 inch intake pipe, but looks killer in the engine bay
@@BenLovrien just picked up the st2015 grey colour it’s amazing, quick question what should I get the Cobb tuning intake or the Cobb cold air intake I’m really confused I just need some sounds lol? Super popular yes, and noises? Sure. Noise doesn't always equate to more power. There is honestly no best aftermarket intake, especially on a stock ST and stock Turbo. All you gain is induction noise. Run the RS Air Box and an AEM Dryflow Air Filter. That system can easily handle up to 400hp. If you want to spend $250-$350 for some noises that's on you. IMPO that money can be better spent and invested on a RMM, FMIC, Chassis Bracing, Lighter Wheels and Stickier Tires, End links, Rear Sway Bar, Tune, Bigger Turbo, Catback Exhaust System, Suspension (Springs/Struts/Coilovers)..etc. *On a side note, the factory tune and factory turbo can only handle so much air. So adding an aftermarket CAI to a stock ST/stock turbo and is only going to negate its full potential.
I have a 15 ST. I want to get a cobb intake but my car is completely stock. Do i need a tune for the intake so i dont fuck up the motor or what? Can i just replace the filter with the intake without any tuning?

Trust me it was waaaaay louder, even with lid on

remove that black liner on the bonnet and you get an even louder fludder sound too.

No apologies necessary chad, a nice pipe is a nice pipe 😂😂😂
Turbo fluttering at the end, adjust your bov spring, and consider doing 50 50 piping to release back to intake.

I'm pretty new to the platform so I wanna ask if I can put this on my stock ST? I don't want a tune. Thanks.
Yup! No tune required!
is that all intake sound or is there a bov aswell... contemplating on pulling the trigger for one... if its just intake then imma send it
I have a bov too, but intake still makes great sound.
No heat shield needed?
Lol
Did you have any flutter before the new intake, do you have a bov or anything else aswell
This is with a bov and it did flutter a bit before, it’s just louder now

Does it flutter due to the intake or due to something else
I think it’s always fluttered but the intake makes it more pronounced

Nice! Great to have ya!😊
@@BenLovrien thank you man!
STICKERS BEN! STICKERSSSSS!!! LOL
would it sound that good with a stick exhaust?
Lol
Quick question, is the intake for a RS the same as for a ST? Or are they completely different
There the same
To get the induction sound that loud in the car do you leave the air box cover off.
I have the exact same intake and its not even half as loud
Yes leave it open and add a bigmouth intake snorkel
does this increase turbo whistle outside of car?
100%👍🏻
2jr tho
that is a clown laughing at 13:08
Or just buy a green filter with stock intake and boom same thing
Nah this one sounds way better. Smooth metal tube resonates the sound of the turbo way more than the plastic intake.
Not to mention the difference of curcumference. The bigger the pipe, more air to flow. Same thing with catbacks and turbos.
Gotta love fail wheel drive!! But nice car,
You need to oil those filters….
It does not increase hp !
Stop doing the ✋ thing at the end of each video do a salute or something else hahaha cool video by the way
