BANDAI vs. DABAN MODEL (Bootleg) feat. Uraven Gundam - MODEL VERSUS
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 18 ธ.ค. 2024
- This is a critical look at a Bandai model and its Bootleg counterpart from unboxing to actually building the model kit. And see if there is any striking difference between the two.
ADDITIONAL INFO: The Bandai one is PS Plastic and the Bootleg one is ABS so traditional plastic cement will not work on the Bootleg.

... Nah
For beginners like me, I choose bootleg to practice building. But later on for a collection to boast, original ones still the way to go. I am already looking for bandai that I like probably strike freedom or destiny cause I like wings.
yeah ur right i start in bootleg and after 2 years am soo happy the bootleg help me to improve my building skill
try getting mg unicorn :V
I think bootlegs are also good for kist that are impossible or very hard to acquire. I got MG Buster and MG Unicorn through Daban
@@AnotherAyushRajis the buster difficult to get?
@@SergiOrtiz at some moments those older seed kits are harder to get.
Just watch the video and the explanation is so good
Little shock when hear the bootleg is surprisingly good
For beginners, the bootleg may turn them off. Because even as a straight build, you have to put in more effort to make it look good. From loose parts, to tight fits, to the crappy mold and shitty sticker sheet.
But for an experienced builder, who knows how to address these issues, the daban core gundam line, is really great. No need to buy the core gundam, the planetary system, and the weapons, that bandai has each sold separately, individually.
Tips for beginners... watch tutorials of expert builders on how they solve these issues...
I have my first Gunpla as Daban and encountered a problem with shoulder joint, its polycap is shallow the ball joint cant be fitted even with topcoat of superglue...so what i did is permanently fuse it with polycap and ball joint....its fixed cant be re posed
Bootleg is not even for improve 'building' skill. It improves 'fixing' skill.
The test painting may be fine but who wants to fix problem while you can enjoy straight build with no issue
@@owl3oy i agree with that, for like me who have limited space i just save up money.....in fact i can at least buy 1 bandai gunpla per month i just dont like bootleg, i dont like issues or problem
That ALL depends on the bootleg company. You're casting far too wide of a net with that statement.
i bought a bootleg in December 2022 because im broke and some parts of it wouldn't fit in where they were supposed even tho i build everything according to the manual and playing with it was a nightmare the left leg kept falling and now that gundam is broken cuz i broke it down
at first i was skeptical about daban but after a mate introduce i can give a try..since bandai kit would definitely make me eat instant noodle for 2 months thou
Since often i have areally tight budget i find the bootleg ones really good for dioramas or to practice customization
Those issues with the bootleg will eventually appear on the Bandai model. Since the bootleg moulds are created through reverse engineering, they won’t be as precise during assembly, but it’s nothing that a little fine sanding can’t fix. As someone who frequently handles their ball jointed action figures, I often apply a floor polish to the joints to create a tighter fit. Eventually, you’ll need to reapply the polish as it wears off, and doing so will help protect the actual plastic from wear.
honestly the bootleg isn’t really bad if ure an intermediate builder, Whenever im building an original gundam i get nervous af HAHAH
My Bandai Uraven actually fits your description of the Daban one. My Bandai Uraven is a hand grenade. Shoulders and bits falling apart. The shield mounted on the back skirt falls off even more. Can't hold the rifle up with one hand. The connection on the foot joints can't keep it upright.
Extra note beyond the kit. I attached the Saturnix drill and claw on its shoulders and they're always drooping down because the connection is loose.
where do you guys buy daban model kits?
Just buy from some website...maybe amazon, but bes recomendation is shopee
bootleg ones are a real pain to build as a beginner. i bought a banshee norn bootleg and it kept falling apart, a big waste of 6 bucks (which is sort of expensive in my country, i also earned it for myself) since it ended up in its own box scrapped.
although, i'm planning to earn for bandai ones! in a really tight budget though.
Nice video my friend...keep it up,we want more...
I have Build sofar only temu bootlegs. 7 Units. Saturday arrives my first Bandai unit. I am excited to see the difference.
nice this made me buy a bootleg because of its price
Actually, yes... That lose point can tricked 🗿
I buy rg bandai and mg daban...i just enjoy collecting the series i like..
Does the Daban Planet Armor fit Bandai Core gundam?
Yes! But, since quality control is an issue with these Bootlegs, if you do buy one, it might be either loose or tight. It just depends on the copy that you get.
❤yeah bootleg is not good like bandai but its good for Display
I thought daban got raided and shit down? Dragon momoko too?
But they're both back?
Dragon Momoko's already shut down years ago. Daban on the other hand got away to live another day, under a No-name brand. People still just call them Daban since they're still the same.
Every issue you said are fixable. For the joints, it's either you use a joint strengthening pen or replacing the daban polycaps with a Bandai one if you have any extras hidden.
Its just that you need to put some extra effort when building bootleg kits. Also it's not like Bandai kits are perfect anyway. I experience the need to sand the ball joints and pegs or widen the hole since it's too tight.
the reason u want to buy daban
> there is an MB exclusive for that particular model like wing zero snow white or astray gold frame amatsu hana and they are so rare and expensive
> u dont mind building a MG version of the MB version
the copy is actually pretty good, I m collecting the whole series . now up to 8th variant. the price is about 7 to 10 Usd, ex shipping off course. it give me 90 % the experience as the original. the polycap and sticker are bad but pretty much that is the bad.
Because I bought a bunch of resin figures to paint on Aliexpress, the algorithm has since decided to start showing me these bootleg Gundam models, and I won't say I'm not at least tempted by the pricing and the idea of painting something this big and detailed at a price that's not as crazy as some Warhammer Knight mech. And because I'm used to removing leftover supports and sanding down imperfections on resin models, I don't mind inferior quality or joints not holding - can just glue those, maybe lose out on some poseability but it'll stay where it's supposed to. And you can't see the plastic quality once it's painted.
I know you supposed to get the modern release of the og gundam when you start collecting but I got the entry grade strike gundam and than I got the high grade aile strike gundam cosmic era
if it aint bandai, you need duct tapes on it
I just want the core gundam... should i just get the bootleg?
It depends. If you really want a perfect looking Core Gundam out of the box, then just buy the original if you can. Your building experience will be better too. But if you can't, then the bootleg is the next best thing! You get a free armor set too :)
@@modelingwithvariety i already got titan colour original one...i wanna get the other colour, but its too expensive considering i only want the core gundam
@@Vpm8481 Then just get the Bootleg~ Keep in mind that there are a lot of inconsistencies with the bootleg such as the squished head proportions and the fitting issues.
hey. do u think daban uraven 3 funnel bits pegs/connector can fit in jupitive shoulder armor hole?
As far as I know, yes! Though the fitting of them if you're dealing bootlegs may be an issue.
Now i wonder why my msn 001 daban is so tight😭
I had my first experience today and decided to get a gao gao kit... I mean yeah it's to be expected it's shitty as heck had to use super glue on some parts but i had fun building it, am gonna get a daban one next time but maybe if i can afford a real one made by bandai i wonder which one would be cool to have ( i like katanas / wings / cool armors )
I would honestly buy bandai if it wasn't so damn expensive. Maybe If earned in dollars. But as it stands earning in such a weak currency buying original sets are going to be almost impossible.
I would buy bandai if i could buy bandai 💀💀
Im buying bandai every 6months coz im broke. . .and its very rewarding lol.
Mas gugustuhin ko pa rin si Uraven na gawa ng Bandai Spirits in terms of quality...
i like this the bandai
That doesn't look like Daban. Daban comes in a black box with no art.
I think this may be a knock off of a knock off.
My experience with Daban has been indistinguishable from a Bandai kit.
And with the tighter joints on Daban kits, they're usually better.
if youre looking for a bootleg that has very little issues (based on my experience atleast) is the 1/100 scale Gundam MSF-007 MK-III.
i dont know much about gundam and gunpla since i only have 4 bootleg and 1 bandai but the MSF-007 MK3 seems like an upscale 1/144 kit since it has like 6 or so runners. The polycaps that holds the joints are good enough. I say good enough bc they arent really that special. What makes them special however is that the kit is so fucking light EVEN WITH BACKPACK ON that it really doesnt show any loose joints.
Again with the back pack, THAT pack is light as fuck. I can do whatever the hell i want with that kit and it wouldnt fall back. It hits that sweetspot of just right with the weight so that it wouldnt hassle the kit itself.
I have it for weeks and posed it for weeks yet had zero problems (jk the stickers are trash on mine). But do be careful hitting the v fin though accidentally. Mine has slight stress marks for hitting it.
next best bootleg would be the Hi-V Nu verka. Like the original, the arms that hold the fin funnels are STIFF AND BRITTLE AS HELL. The stand that connects the back pack and the kit is the same. I suggest NOT fucking the the stand so much. Do maybe 1 or 2 inserts for the back but dont push it. The body itself is great. Its just the back pack thats a pain in the ass.
Getting the Nu ver ka bootleg soon. Had good praises for that one.
Unpopular opinion, but this is an HG. how expensive should it be for you to buy a bootleg uraven for your collection?
I mean the quality gap is very obvious and do not worth the headache, finger bruise nor the stress, unless yes you want to practice painting/scrap parts that is.
If you like the original one and care for it's brand, then go for Bandai. But if you don't really care for the brand then go for Daban. Don't go for other bootleg brand. Because Daban is better bootleg out there. 😁
so true the bootleg brand does matter. im surprised to hear little to no trouble building this one. ive had fake samurai pizza cat kits cos it was easy to con kids in the 90s. shit doesn't even piece together.
I got one. And the rest of core. Its a good copy especially if you are practicing painting.
I'm just buying this for the Core Gundam 2
are the bootlegs accessories worth it for the original?
Maybe if you get only the core gundam sold separately, then yes! You get a second core gundam too but the head's a little squished up.
Sir ano po mas ok na bootleg, Daban or TT HongLi??
From my experience Daban is better
Ill buy the bootleg one if im just going to display it not to play with it, and i bought bootleg throne eins so i can display it near my pc
Best bootleg gunpla
Recommended to buy? I mean daban uraven😂
I would recommend buying the Daban Uraven if and only if you're fine with extra work. Since building it up you'll find some hiccups along the way. May it be from the molding of the runner, missing parts, or fitting issues. These are common in bootleg models and rather randomly generated since quality control with these things isn't really stellar as you can see with the missing gem headpiece.
bootleg are nice if you are looking for accessories for example im looking for a GN Proto Sword from gundam astrea well to get the legit kit you would need to spend a lot of money for the cheapest option well there is a bootleg version that comes with literally all the accessories of the most expensive gundam astea version out there for a quarter of the price now of course if you are a beginner and are not ready to fix any mistake of the bootleg I don't really recommend it
Those loose shoulder armor pieces are easy to fix. Anything loose that doesn't need moving around can be fixed or thickened up by glue. My Daban chest piece was chewed on as well. The main thing that I don't like about the bootled one is face. If you look at both of them side by side from the side angle, the Original is flushed unlike the bootleg one. Straight build with no headaches, just buy Bandai. If you're an experienced modeller, go with Daban. If you're just starting with the hobby, never try bootleg because it will ruin your experience from the hobby.
my experience with the uraven and the core gundam II (originals) is that the core gundam gets a bit loose in some articulations, and the abcrunch is a pain in the ass in the very beginning, i should change the ball joint polycap and, the upper part of the torso release every time y try to pose, so the original Uraven is not that perfect, and with the time gets even more loose, the weapons are the only perfect thing of the model kit, and again, i´m talking about the ORIGINAL xd
you dont need to compare it... but the point is are happy for what you are doing???
This comment needs to ve pinned
I have a lot of bootleg than the bandai but as my experiences to a bootleg... Bootleg is for display only and not playable and bandai is for kids if you want to let them play it but of course the joints will be loose if you play it too much... So I think both third party and bandai is for display only if you ask me
Bootlegs have some cuts when ai received one
my first build was fromm tthongli and that kit is a total trash....fitting of tje joints are too tight or too loose.... but i manage to built it...thats why i decide to buy bandai more expensive but its totally worth it....thanks for the review
I hear yah bruh. My first kit was a tthongli verde buster. One of the mounted weapons was so tight i broke them just trying to pose them. From that point i decided to buy only bandai for the kits i truly like.
I bought entry grade bandai strike gundam and it's cheap
Nice video .I think the bootleg is ok in it prize . You know what we pay what we got. Pay more get more quality product , pay less get low quality ...that just my opinion 😁
COOL, especially the other day, I was at Divisoria, I was able to find the bilihan of this Daban Gundams. hehehe (I would want one 1/100 Barbatos, that is 2000.00+ for a Full mechanics version, was just 1400.00 and there were also Zoids and One Piece ships) anywaaaays, in regards the video. I love watching it, I would just recommend instead of showing ORIGINAL then BOOTLEG, why not show them playing together side by side, that would be cooler
May I ask where in divisoria is the store you're talking about
A good review video, keep it up! This is good already but definitely can get better :)
Kool video
where to buy daban models
It really depends on where you are. Try asking the model groups on social media platforms if they know places. I've been long in this hobby to know where to get these bootleg models.
@@modelingwithvariety i live in india so china is out of option but its okay i dont think i would want these boot legs unless i want to do a project
UNFAIR COMPARISON , why not hold the bandai shoulder ? why not touch the bandai ? on one hand said Daban poor, on the other make 10 Daban video
no daban it TT Hongli
It IS daban
Marsfour pls 😁
niiiiice 😬😬😬
For me bandai is the best brands of model kits. smooth articulation and no problems or hidden issue.bandai is good quality of plastic other than the bootleg. But the price is expensive no problems to me.
Bootleg- budget frirendly, good practice for beginners, and they release parts and gimmicks in a package(i.e weapon sets, stand, etc.). Bootlegs are not totally trash (in my opinion thou).
I wish we could get daban model kits in America 😭
Or at least the try burning and the original core Gundam armors
I get one at a store in US recently lol, I thought was from Bandai!! When I bough i though was from bandai probably a very expensive one in a very cheaper price (69.99) but in that moment I didn’t know anything about clones or different brands so I get it very cheaper and I was super happy, it’s a high resolution barbatos and I actually and taking some days to build it bc it’s more hard but low key I think I will never buy a gundam from Bandai anymore lol, the hi resolution from Bandai goes around 250$ 😑 and I low key freaking out bc the quality it’s insane!!! And cheaper asf, this price it’s literally around a hg from Bandai
In southeast asia it's really cheap for you(in your standards) for example normally I would find 1/100 full armour unicorn for around like 1000 pesos which is like 19 bucks and 1/60 unicorn rx and a led set is around 2800+800=3600pesos which is around 73 bucks(It's a bootleg "Daban") The price should be worth the trouble. I'd recommend Daban because I had a good experience from it compared to other bootleg brands such as TT Hongli(subjective opinion)
But isn't gundam Japanese because you siad Chinese
Yeah gundam is Japanese he is talking about the bootleg manual translated to Japanese into chinese
The fakes parts and polycaps are hard to to putand lose hand joints and shoulder joints i say the one whos trash is the fake
me personally the i like the bootlegs better not only because they are cheap they are solid yes they might be a bit too tight but i like that it makes the kit feel more solid unlike the bandai kits i have gotten but hey we all have different opinions
Pinoy tong nagsasalita
ill go with bandai not the bootleg i really hate falling a part
use glue when building model kits. also it ain't a "toy"
NO NO NO NO!!!! Never, EVER use glue on gunpla (unless ofc you'll just build them to never ever touch them and just leave them to rot for all of eternity) use protective coats like topcoat to protect from scratches and to lengthen the life of the joints
@@02banshee99you use it as a display? Mine i use it as stop motion one
Daban because it really cheap
Please guys never ever ever buy bootleg gundam kits.. They are horrible.. Just relax okay save up some money and buy the original branded Bandai gundam because I am so sad right now and I totally regret buying daban model gundam unicorn banshee norn destroy mode... If anyone seeing this comment for the love of gundam please never ever buy this.. It's completely garbage the one I built so many joints broke I had used alot of glue.. Then super glue... Really tight spots... Loose joints and arms... Man... Just say no to daban and bootleg.. I'm never ever buying bootlegs... Just buy the Bandai ones people... Stay safe stay blessed always yall
Cope
Cope
Nah bro
Sounds like skill issue
Skill issue lmao
Me buying the bootleg because of the weapon s
If u dnt have a money...then its up to u to buy bootleg DABAN. the issue is that their are parts that u need to fix.maybe gluing some areas, sanding some parts etc etc. If ur willing to do this then go ahead. If its only for display and customisation then u can get a DABAN and/or use its parts to GUNDAM parts. That way its cheaper.. But overall its up to the buyers to buy this bootlegs or not. . In this video u have been warned.but u have an option. We all have..
