The guy who was obsessed with making the butterfly masculine was kind of annoying. Like. Why does it have to be manly. It's a butterfly. In memory of a little girl. It does not need to be so macho.
Agreed. The reason butterflies even reminded him of her was probably because butterflies are often seen as feminine and delicate - you know, like a little girl. He wouldn't have gotten it if he was scared of a feminine tattoo.

The artists job is to do a job that will make the person feel good. Adapting things that are either seen as masculine or feminine won’t affect you. As long as the artist has a good idea of what the person wants and can make a tattoo look amazing like they are meant to be then why would you care about someone else’s idea?
If it makes them happy then it’s their choice to put on their body and if it looks shit then it’s fun to take the piss out of and it can be covered up or removed.
But I guess this is on a TV show. It’s not like you’re gonna get a good tattoo from these idiots.

He succeeded in making it more masculine-- that “bio smoke” combines with the misshapen balloons to make a giant peni$ behind the butterfly.

I’m a tattoo artist and I worked in the same city as Chasity for YEARS!! I’ve covered sooooo much of her work 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it doesn’t get any better!!! She’s still tattooing in 2020 🤦♀️
On the bright side, that sounds like for as long as you’re tattooing near her, it’d be a steady paycheck 😂😂😂

I don’t really trust a tattoo show where 2/3 of the judges aren’t tattoo artists themselves
I don't trust a show that tells someone they shouldn't play it safe, and then turn right around and tell another person on the show that they should play it safe... I was like Am I hearing this right? I know that is some double standard bullcrap.

I mean, how is it any difference from watching this lady's TH-cam channel who also isn't a tattoo artist, but has an entire platform dedicated to criticizing things she doesn't do? Lol

3 hours for consultation, drawing, prep/set up and tattooing? How were you supposed to be creative with your design and execute it to a good standard? It takes my artist about an hour just for all her set up
That's kind of an accuse :) my tattoo artist did a beautiful tattoo in 3 hours on me and it's because he's a good artist. The artists on this show are just not great tattooers

My tattoo artist did a beautiful tattoo in two hours! He was able to do it because he's talented and didnt do more than he had time for.
"I wish I had better reference material"--even though she had a physical book with her. I feel like that was a tell, and what she REALLY meant was, "I wish I had something I could t r a c e".
My goodness, a book takes a ruler and a compass. It was the easiest reference
I'm from the same town as the Chassity chick. She's known locally as THE shop to avoid. Terrible work and MASSIVE health/safety/sterility issues. (Shop members with blood-borne diseases not wearing gloves, needles being reused/not being autoclaved/etc..)
Was talking tattoos at a local game store and someone walked up and joined in and showed us an in-progress piece (looked pretty damn rough, to put it nicely) and when he said Chassity was doing it, the reaction of literally almost the entire group looked like some sort of scripted scene because everyone gasped and looked horrified and immediately started going in on why her shop is terrible/dangerous and etc. We completely scared the guy into going to a different artist for the rest of his piece.
I'm glad he left. It doesn't surprise me that she's known for being the worst shop in town.
Not surprised, the quality of drawing ability is one of the worst I've ever seen, my daughter at 10yrs could draw better than this. I'm a painter and cannot fathom how you could mess up a book like that they are one of the easiest subjects in the world.
Holy. Crap. Sounds like a guy in my town, dean, hes an absolute pervert (he tattoos and piercers TEENAGE girls!) He tried getting me to be top and bra - less FOR A BELLY PIERCING!! I made the mistake of going there for my 1st tattoo, it's a bow on my wrist, he had me in a super uncomfortable position, dug the needle in so deep IT SNAPPED in my skin! I passed out, he had his son pick me up to continue!!!! I HATE him. Hes an ass and a scumbag but because hes cheap, people still go there. He also gives you antibiotics he bought online (not the right antibiotics btw, I should know, I'm a former nurse lol) after your tattoo or piercing and people actually praise him for this!!

I felt embarrassed for the lady, how on Earth did she think she had any right to tattoo that piece of crap onto someone's body forever. I feel terrible for the guy that got that put on him, but I guess you sign up for that.

Most tattoo shows like this the canvas signs an agreement where they agree to be tattooed for no cost to them however they have to pretty much submit to what the artist wants to put on them. Some shwos allow the convas to have a say some don't. Ink master allows the canvas to say no etc etc. Not sure about this one tho. But theu sign agreements to reduce the risk of being sued as messed up as that sounds

My main issue with these tattoo competition shows is that all the stress of it and time limit put on it ends in a shitty tattoo on someone forever. I just wish there was a way they could get the same results without using real people, because it just sucks for the people who are stuck with those pieces of crap.
Hannah Phantom you can tattoo on pig flesh. It would probably be different so I don't know how fair it would be for a competition
And a lot of people in that field tend to be vegan or vegetarian so lots of people would probably have an issue with that.
Most artists start out on pig skin as apprentices before working up to humans--it's supposed to be very similar, so that could be a good alternative, except for the TV producers specifically want the drama and risk factor of working on humans and would never go for it.
I doubt it would be much of an issue re: veganism/vegetarianism, since most of them probably had to do it as apprentices already.

That lady, Chastity, did two memorial tattoos on my husband's nephews, and they looked like a 4 year old had scribbled on them. I was SO SHOCKED. She had came recommended by my husband's step mom, and we didn't know her. So we took them to her shop and when we got there she acted like she didn't even want to be bothered with us. My husband and I weren't getting tattoos, just the nephews. It took her about an hour to do two small crosses with initials and dates. She tried to charge them twice what she quoted for some chicken scratch looking mess. I was so quiet on the drive home because I was scared of what the family was gonna say at the funeral. The nephews moved across the country so IDK if they got a rework or coverup but she put some literal garbage on those two guys. It was honestly so terrible.

How is this woman even an artist?! Her work is atrocious!! I've seen tattoos done with a guitar string and homemade ink MUCH better than hers. Shame.
I’m amazed that they agreed to be tattooed considering the state of her shop space. Half the time, she wouldn’t even use gloves on clients.
yeah when i saw she didn't wear gloves i was cringing so damned hard thinking i wouldnt even touch broken skin without something between my skin and theirs and she's doing this for at least an hour and a half
That lady needs BASIC art lessons. Perspective, shading, etc... Boo. Makes lady tattooists look crap. I hope the show offers free laser removal or something. Yikes.

Not just that. I'm not a tattoo artist, but I do know the basics of drawing, and drawing a book is not that hard. It has some difficulty to it, but not that much to mess that up in that way.

How does someone sleep at night knowing they've scarred someone's body horribly for life
My tattoo of the Joker I got took an hour for the guy to stencil it from the graphic novel I own. 4 hours to get the black done and another secession of 2 to 3 hours to get the color in. 3 hours isn't enough time to do a proper tattoo if they want a big tattoo. Maybe a small tattoo but even with small tattoos give the artist more than 3 hours.
Yikes I got 5 great American traditional tats done in one 6 hours session, full color

treacle tatts good luck. You were well within far usage of the footage. You were commenting on what was occurring in the clip, and besides you were watching heavily edited clips just shipped out of an episode. I can’t believe the crap some people/channels pull over content. Ugh!

I love these reaction to tattoo show videos!! I’m disappointed that your ink masters video was removed but I hope it doesn’t stop you from doing more like it! And years ago I actually thought that all the tattoo artists on Ink Masters were amazing. I’m grateful for people like you who help educate people like me about what to expect from a good tattoo.
Samantha Davis agreed I actually really liked that video and I think it's funny it got taken down because she really wasn't even being that negative.
That lady thinks that books are difficult? I have no experience with tattoos, granted, but I do know that books are easy to draw if you know even the basics of perspective. Omg lol

this is so true cuz i cant draw for the life of me but i drew a pretty decent book once and it was better then what she did and i didn't have any references infront on me i just drew based on memory
I honestly feel really bad for the people that got tattooed here. All their tattoos were obviously very meaningful

It actually made me pretty sad to see Mike (the first guy) on here. He died in a car accident in 2014 and he was actually a really big deal in central Florida and had a super well known shop. A lot of people were hurt by the loss

Oh, she has. She did my first tattoo 25 years ago and had been doing it way before that. Luckily it's small and looks fine.

I feel like this show was trying to capitalize on people thinking bad tattoos are funny, but it doesn’t reeeaally work on a tv show because the expectation is that the artists
are the best around. It kind of makes me mad that they picked shitty artists just for the shock factor of a bad tattoo

That part where you were talking about the girl not having a reference but she had a legit book in front of her, as a person that draws, I agreed so hard lmao. Having an item and taking a picture of it is the best way I have found to draw something, just trying to look at it is tough since you can move a little bit and it’ll completely change your perspective and can therefore mess up the drawing. So taking a picture of the damn book would’ve been reference enough because she could literally pick and choose how to make it look. She’s just straight up not a good artist lol
I've never set foot in a tattoo shop in my life, but I'm completely confident that I could do a tattoo either on par or better than whatever the fuck Chassity did on that poor client.

I'm no artist, but her tattoo was comprised of circles, squares and letters. Seems like if you're going to be calling yourself an artist, those simple things should be mastered first.

Do you know 'Horror Tattoos'? It's a German Tattoo Show but I think it is one of the best shows when ypu consider educating the people about bad and good tattoos. Maybe you can find it with english subtitels somewhere but I really like it :)
in the US, we have a show called Tattoo Nightmares. She should do a reaction video to that show. There are 3 AMAZING artists that own a shop that only do cover ups. The client comes in with an OUTRAGEOUSLY BAD BAD BAD tattoo. They also have the most outrageous stories to go along with the bad tattoo. The stories are reenacted in funny and light-hearted ways. In the end, the client gets an amazing cover tattoo.
Lets collaborate and create the subs ourselfs if there isn't a version out there already ^^
I really like the show, cause it's not shocky for the factor but more for education.
Jeff Hubbard actually does gorgeous hyperrealism tattoos now! He owns, operates, and tattoos out of his own shop still in Birmingham. I think it would be really cool for you to do a react video to his instagram portfolio, or even add that on to the whole react series where you "check up" on the winners and runners up on each competition-type show you reacted to.

If I went into a tattoo shop, and the artist begun to tattoo me, and then stopped and said "I'm so sorry. Come back in two weeks, things are just not going my way today, and I don't want to put something on you that we're both not happy with." I would respect the hell out of that artist tbh.

I have a memorial tattoo and in a way I almost think they shouldnt be judged on competition shows. Yea they may not be well done, but I would never want my memorial tattoo being judged by famous artists. To me it’s perfect. I just feel bad for the clients.
Whenever I draw a clock I always do 12, 3, 6, and 9 first and then space out the other number in between. That shouldn’t be hard to do

I really think the illustrator had a point regarding the fire. The way it weaved around was more like movement of smoke. Fire engulfs rather than weaves.

The numbers on the watch!!! Not only the are the gaps bad, but half of them aren’t facing the right way/angle. Has she seen a watch face? Why do none of the shapes in this tattoo make sense?
The flaming heart rosary, again - has he seen a rosary?!? Why are there only half the amount of beads?
These tattoos make me 😡, I feel so bad for the recipients ? I’d rather walk away from a bad tattoo part way through then let them finish, at least there would be less to cover up
Jen V just a note on the rosary - it's a pocket rosary, which only has ten "beads" (one "decade" of the traditional rosary). You're meant to reuse those beads to pray the entire rosary. Things you learn from being raised ultra Catholic! Everything else you said I totally agree with!

The rosary was decent. A few mistakes like you said but overall a solid piece. Everyone elses was horrible

The smoke instead of fire comment was about the shape of the “fire”. It’s definitely more in the shape of smoke than a true flame.

Olive O'Connor They're probably trying to achieve a reaction, drama...it's all theatre to these people, They thrive on controversy. They wouldn't seem like 'smart' judges if they didn't have shitty scratchers on the show. The only REAL tattoo shows are at the conventions.
I believe the show does it for shock factor and drama. but i dont think they are trying to hinder anything. I think these artists do deserve to be on the show only for the fact that maybe we can educate people to know that there really are bad artists out there. they should do their research to find a talented, capable and professional artist.

Two artists that are brothers from Boston (where I live) are on the new season of ink master. I have been following them on Instagram for a while. They’re both traditional style artists and it’s cool that I actually know there are talented people who have made it onto a tv show. Glad they’re giving some good representation of tattoos for the general public

I watched tattoo titans for the first time last night after watching ink master’s new episode and OH MY GOD, most of the artists on there were absolutely terrible!!!! I felt so bad for the people used as “skins” on that show. The sad thing is these artists would act super confident about their work :(
the best part about the pocket watch was that the '6' was upside-down and none of the judges commented on it

For the palm tree/necklace/hands one I was thinking he could’ve done a pair of hands holding a locket necklace with a picture of a palm tree & beach inside, don’t know how you’d achieve that in 3 hours though 😂
