That Friday the 13th tattoo seems SO right for some removal? Fairly thinish lines, no shading or color really? Either to make for easier cover later or just plain removal?
(I know this comment is old bUT) Yeah, my thoughts exactly, I've had laser removal and my lineart was way deeper than his and all came out in 4 sessions (the second one too, the shoes would end up looking like a reddish mole maybe)
Yess. It would have been so easy to remove! All the ink used in the thin lines would probably equate to one or two squared centimetres. There wasn't much ink on it.
I'm surprised that there aren't more tattoists that do have a laser removal too - particularly those that offer to cover prison/gang tattoos. It would make sense to fade old work first before a cover up.
I've seen one episode in TV yesterday and the tatoos they "covered up" were super light and halway gone already I am sure 1 session in removal would have erased them and instead they got some super black giant rose (that only looked like a giant black blotch from afar)
In Germany we have such a show as well called Horror Tattoos. But the big difference is that the cover up artists in there are actually awesome tattooists who know what they are doing. Maybe you want to check it out to get some faith back into TV Tattoo shows
That sounds like our American Version, Tattoo Nightmares. I love the artists on that show and they do awesome work, not to mention their "dramatizations" of the time the person got the awful tattoo are so funny. This is just....BAD.
Is it better now? I used to watch it when it first came out but wasn‘t a fan that it was more a casting show for who has the saddest back story, and only a few minutes of actual tattooing... I want to see more about tattoos and the artistic process than about how and why random people got bad tattoos :(
I don’t necessarily dislike the show itself. But yea the artists are not ‘some of the best tattoo artists in the uk’. The show would definitely be great if they had better artists, and less unnecessarily dramatic moments lol
I'm from the US here and the comment you made about good artist won't do the Tv show bs is so damn true. I have been getting my horror sleeves done by a amazing portrait artist and we started talking about Ink Master for some odd reason and he told me they have bugged him for a few years now to do that show and he refuses every time they offer him a spot on it.
It's very much context-based. Not all Oni are bad; in Japanese myth they are ogres that went around and terrorized villagers, but there is a legend of a monk who became an Oni to protect his village from other Oni. In the more simplified language of tattoos, Oni are lumped in with Yokai, which are demons. Either way, the intent or meaning of having an Oni on the skin can be either to protect from bad luck (Think the monk who tranformed) or to give off a sense of intimidation to others by likening the person with the tattoo to an Oni or a Yokai. Honestly, on rewatching the video, I think the piece was going more for a Yokai than Oni, as there are certain key details missing such as the furrowed, intense brow and the wrinkled nose that come with Oni imagery. If this was a concious decision on someone's part for trying to keep with the horror theme of the original tattoo (judging by how Tattoo Fixers seems to work, probably not) or if it was intended to combat previous bad luck by scaring away evil spirits, or just a spark of "Hey you know what would look cool? Demon-thing", I'll never know.
Is it because of the origin of the word meaning to hide (yes I had to google it) or because it’s usually portrayed as a demon or spirit in anime( based on the anime I’ve seen with them).
They resently started playing the episodes here in Germany and I could't help but notice how BAD most of the tattoos "fixed" where. We have a simliar show here in Germany called "Horror Tattoo" and the Tattoo artists there are sooooo good. They travel around Germany and always pick 3 people in each city to cover a "horror tattoo" out of many people. They take in consinderation the story behind it and if it can be coverd up in general and in 5 hours. Also they take time to plan out the design making it unique for every client and the tattoos are top quality. They meet on a different day so they have time to think about the design. Honestly most of the designs from the Tattoo fixers almost always look simliar.. Tattoo fixers is just a disgrace compared to this. One tattoo that really shocked me,was when Jay tattooed a giant Amy winehouse on the leg of a girl. It was just sooooo bad and super big and super black,so there is no way that girl can ever cover it up or laser it to fix this mess :/....
when it started airing in germany my mum started watching tattoo fixers because I got tattooed a few months prior and she wanted to see what its like. I immediately said nononono you go watch horror tattoos if you have to 😂I don't like that show either but you're right - their cover ups are way better!
What I dislike about the show is that sooo much screentime is spent on selecting the 3 winners. So much airtime that could be used to show more than just 3 cover-ups in the end. In that aspect they should work a little more to the point like in Tattoo fixers ;). I watch these shows mainly because I wanna see the results! But agree, the quality is much better on the German show.
These people can't finish their tattoos, but as far as I'm concerned that's a god send...that "japanese traditional" piece was atrocious. He can't be a real tattoo artist...he's just a model with a sharpie right?
I can't fathom why they would do partial line work and then color in one session... why would you not just do the line work and follow until the end? It's just.... so bad
@@JamesConley999 yes you do. Doesn’t matter how good the tattoo artist is or isn’t when you’re getting a big piece it’s best to break it up. I wish “tattoo nightmares” and “bad ink” were still around, they did good coverups. also wouldn’t it of just been easier to get that 13th one removed than getting it covered in that shit?
I knew when I saw tattoo fixers not all of em actually looked that good in the end. It neeeeeds to be dark and be fully saturated for it to be totally covered
tbh i don't think the skull is that bad i think it's meant to be an up angle with the mouth open it's just not a straight on angle which is why it isn't symmetrical
The best part of this show is the receptionist (her whole vibe, she is amazing) and the girls tattoo artists' clothes. Aside from that I just watch it for the awful tattoos... And the cover ups are often barely better 🤭
Um WHAT IS THAT ONI!? Omg I'm laughing so much. I've spent like hours googling different Oni designs from historical pieces and more modern artworks. That there on that dudes back is one messy, wonky looking Oni. And the colours are patchy looking and kinda gross? Like they don't look good together figure out your saturation buddy foreground is more prominent background should be less saturated. Make the blue work with the red cause that blue don't work with that red.
I don’t like how the artists are like “rEaLy?!” when the people need to tap out. I realize it’s fake, but when my tiny bumblebee tattoo caused enough pain for a breather, my artist was happy to give me a 5 minute break
I’m always amazed by how good some people’s eye for quality is. Like I’ve watched about 10 videos of yours where a tattoo comes up and I’m like “that’s decent” and you’re like “look at this dogshit”. This is why I’ll never get a tattoo without my sister’s approval. (I can see the difference when the dogshit is next to real quality btw, I’m not that bad)

This video definitely made me notice that either my standards are pretty low or I’m feckin blind bc I didn’t even see there was anything wrong with that skull... Shame on my poor head 🤦🏻♀️
My main issue with the skull was that the top part tilted/faced right, and the bottom jaw tilted/faced left. It looks cool because the artist knew where to put the details - but as a basic shape it was way off and just all kinds of lopsided
@@Tanjaaraus lopsided is an understatement......those eyes.....honey no.....those flames what are they? They look like someone took a thick sharpie and drew a line....
the skull just looks like its meant to be on an angle, obviously the execution of whatever perspective it's meant to be seen from wasn't done well, I wouldn't necessarily say it's lob sided, just that it's at a poorly done angle
i may be wrong, but I don't think the skull one is supposed to be symmetrical because it doesn't look like a straight on view. it looks like he purposefully rotated it slightly
Allison I feel like no one is mentioning how fake this show is like the whole entire thing is fake. I can’t believe stuff like this is normal in the UK😂 and they actually believe it
Also, could you do a video looking at Jeffree star's tattoos? I just watched the videos where he talks about them and some of them are really nice and some are..... Hmmm.... Would love to know your thoughts!
Some are old.....very old and need to be touched up so some of the lines may have faded over the years. Especially his large cat woman with all that black....it fades to a dull grey colour. The teeth on his knuckle areas those are small and would fade very fast....
treacle tatts It looks great! It’s not a piercing that would be flattering for me (It’s one of those things where I like it on other people and not myself) but it suits you!
As a picture framer I can confirm that frames do go that wonky, and I get paid to fix it. You don’t want that on your body 😂 Also my upper back stuff was done sitting :( it would’ve been so much more comfortable laying down, plus I was the only person in the studio not able to watch Toy Story 😂
I think the skull was meant to be on an angle, but if so they should have committed to that and made it more obvious. As is it's hard to tell and that makes it look wonky, whereas I don't think it looked all that bad. How he's planning on addressing the red in the teeth, I will never know.
my brother is a tattoo artist in leeds, and at his old shop one of the guys who had a tat fixed on the show came in... they couldnt fix the fix and he had to go and get laser treatment to just get rid of it a little bit.
If you ever want to do another one of these there’s loads of videos on facebook, they’re always coming up in my recommended smh. Great video, glad someone can’t stand it as much as I can’t 😂
YES MY GAL 🔥 this show makes my blood boil. Edit: I actually shrieked at the "oh honey no! The face on that" 😂😂 not gonna lie I live for the Ian Beale, it's so iconic 👏 I mean I would NEVER, but it's so funny. We need more of these videos!!
my ex boyfriend has a full Japanese back piece and for ever session he was lay down for it, it was just easier for the artist to get the right angles and it made it slightly more comfortable for the client as well, obviously he was in an extreme amount of pain but it would make it a lot more bearable. Sketch doing the bottom of the back or the middle with the guy sat up is extremely hard and its just going to be so uneven and wrong by the time its done. Also they wouldn't have been able to do massively detailed tattoos at their size in one session it would have to be two, so 100% fake. I lost respect for this show when it was always the "i was on holiday and drunk" the only decent clips or tattoos are mostly Alice and Jay was good at portrait especially for people that went through traumatic experiences, other than that its a joke.
There's a other Show called "horror tattoos" and they also Cover up tattoos and even if its a Tattoo thats left actual scars, or something that is big, they always do amazing Jobs at making those Covers! They always look perfect and i Just love how good the Quality is
I don't understand why you would say your opinion doesn't matter! You have lots of knowledge on tattoos so of course it does! don't sell yourself short. ❤️
I had a back tattoo done sitting up but I was sitting in a sort of massage chair thing. How are they even going to pull that skull out of the trash?? It’s awful
I heard the trans guy's tattoo they did, he didn't even break up the session. He did it all in one go, and if you've read the article you've seen the tat. And it's a big one, it ruined his entire shoulder and there's no way to even cover it up. Of course Sketch was the one who tattooed him so it doesn't surprise me, he really lives up to his name. But I think that's why so many people tap out on the show when doing big pieces. Also did we really need to know how many men that lady went through to get a fucking eastenders tattoo?
DN_Horror Not to be rude but, you can't google it? The sun (although not the greatest newspaper) did an article on it and posted a picture of the tat as well. There were a few other articles as well.
Would love for you to review tattoo nightmares. The show did amazing coverups and the ones that were covered so many were really really bad, the tattoos being covered were so bad, some were vulgar, some were huge. Two that I recall were a full chest piece for this girl that was beautiful when done. Another was this guy that had to have his full chest, from breast to belly button covered, and it was so good. It’d be funny to see your reaction to the bad tattoo versus the good tattoo 👍💜
I'm getting my first tattoo by an artist highly recommended in my location in Taiwan. She took my idea and made it gorgeous. She does a lot of cover ups, re works and scar covers. To my novice eye, her tattoos look great, and she's a real artist, she did a tribal over a scar and it looks amazing to me. On Facebook search 台南精艷紋身 I'd love for you to have a look at her work!
Id love it if you did a video where you went through the artists (from the show) instagram pages and react to their other work :) By the way, I love your videos!
I don't know much about tattoo process but imo if I was having a back tat I'd rather have the outline done first then come back for the color etc? But I really don't much
Tbh, with a back piece I would still want them the show me an image of what they’re going to be doing so I could properly see the whole thing straight on and know if I really like it, without having to twist in front of the mirror
On the topic of copied tattoos, so many people i know have even gotten or plan on getting plagiarised tattoos and as an artist I am soooo against this and can only really make small hints but wow I just wanna tell them they are being thick as mince n need to gather themselves some originality
We have a similar show in the US called "Tattoo Nightmares" but the artists are so good one of them competed in "Ink Masters" and was later asked to do a cover up of his competitors tattoo that got them sent home.
Hi ! I remembered you mentioning post malone before ! I think it was inked magazine released a TH-cam video of post malone tattooing a Friend and the comment section it really interesting ! I would love you know you thoughts! :) x
Fun fact: one of the tattoo artists (Jay) went to my high school and nearly everybody in my area agrees he’s an average/kinda crap tattoo artist. He came back to my school and came in my maths class, he seems nice but I don’t know why he’s “one of the UK’s best”
Hey! Bit of a new subscriber here. Wondering if you've ever heard of an American show called Tattoo Nightmares? It's a bit like Tattoo Fixers but it's more focused on the ridiculous stories behind how the people got their tattoos (they even do some over-exaggerated skits to accompany them!) and the tattoos they end up with are really good! (But I'm not expert on tattoos, kinda a tattoo virgin if anything) My only real critique is that, like Tattoo Fixers, the cover ups tend to be pretty big. Another show I'd recommend is Ink Master and/or it's many spinoffs (Redemption, Angels, etc). It's a pretty dramatic competition show where someone gets kicked off every week, and some of the tattoos are... Eugh. The show's been heavily criticized for imposing impossible time limits on large tattoos, judges choosing favorites despite claiming to be "fair", ridiculous "flash challenges" that have NOTHING to do with tattooing, and in my personal opinion sometimes treating the canvases like shit (i.e. canvases walking out halfway through because they aren't getting their way, artists forcing their canvases to change their minds on what they want "so it can be easier", and if a canvas leaves for any reason, that artist is forced to either have their unfinished work judged OR they give their damn selves a tattoo!). I recommend it!
Just to make you feel better in your furry about this show. You're my favorite youtuber! I love your videos and you're completely right about this show.
With the first video (the Japanese cover-up), I have a feeling that they didn't want to be like 'oh we can't do this in a day' so they made the guy pretend it was too painful to keep going.
What I really find annoying with tattoo fixers and body fixers is the dramatic reaction the "fixers" always have when people show them their problems. I mean, yeah it´s mainly their fault if they have a bad tattoo, but it´s so over the top how they react.

@@Jo-wd5yl it's lopsided honey. The angle looks sideways backwards or whatever it's not good
I was just talking to my mum today about this show
y'know
educating her on how wrong it is
i may be wrong, but I don't think the skull one is supposed to be symmetrical because it doesn't look like a straight on view. it looks like he purposefully rotated it slightly
The first cover up lain part is 100% fake lmao. His reactions are so fake, hes moving, and hes sitting up. Definitely not real. How cringey is that!
Am I just completely and utterly dumb? Why am I just now noticing your Medusa piercing? Whatever, it looks rad! I adore your videos!
😂💕 ow bless you!! I’ve had it a year 😀
treacle tatts It looks great! It’s not a piercing that would be flattering for me (It’s one of those things where I like it on other people and not myself) but it suits you!
That back tat looks like something i wouldve sketched in my text books during middleschool wtf
As a picture framer I can confirm that frames do go that wonky, and I get paid to fix it. You don’t want that on your body 😂
Also my upper back stuff was done sitting :( it would’ve been so much more comfortable laying down, plus I was the only person in the studio not able to watch Toy Story 😂
They really out here giving you a full-body tattoo because you have super small text of your ex's name on your arm.
“I’m sorry but he can not say a tattoo is shocking”
Five seconds later: “ohh my god. Honey no” 😂
You should watch tattoo nightmares. Their work is so good.
I absolutely love your eye shadow in this video
"The beard looks like mold" 😂😂😂 love that comment! Spot on!
I love how passionate you are about tattoos :)
my ex boyfriend has a full Japanese back piece and for ever session he was lay down for it, it was just easier for the artist to get the right angles and it made it slightly more comfortable for the client as well, obviously he was in an extreme amount of pain but it would make it a lot more bearable.
The saturation in that oni looks like someone’s tried to colour in with texta. Super patchy
“No shading”
Girl the only thing that’s shading is you!
Loving the realness that you serve us. ❤️😜
Yooo your shirt is so awesome!!! Also makeup on fleek as always x
The Friday the 13th one made me cackle. “Bad luck” I have a pinup girl dressed as Jason from those movies on my arm. No bad luck here.
There's a other Show called "horror tattoos" and they also Cover up tattoos and even if its a Tattoo thats left actual scars, or something that is big, they always do amazing Jobs at making those Covers! They always look perfect and i Just love how good the Quality is
Tbh with the saturation it looks like someone just drew on his back with some crayola markers
Just came across your videos and your girl over here is on a massive binge
I kinda liked the skull one! I could see it coming together once it’s finished.
Just subbed...I love you! Your reactions are adorably hilarious! 💖
I don't understand why you would say your opinion doesn't matter! You have lots of knowledge on tattoos so of course it does! don't sell yourself short. ❤️
I believe that tattoos can be an amazing expression of things that are important to you
"My opinion Doesnt matter. Im just here." *Diva face* LOVE IT Lmaoo
Lord save us. That Ian Beale one was just horrifying. That poor lady!
I had a back tattoo done sitting up but I was sitting in a sort of massage chair thing.
How are they even going to pull that skull out of the trash?? It’s awful
“LOOK AT THE FACE ON IT” 😂😂
Wow your eye shadow looks amazing!
Your re work looks so good but tbh half of me watching your videos is admiring your amazing tattoos!
@@slut4jesus925 nah boi, you're rude as fuck.
I had my back piece done sitting up. It's not uncommon.
So glad this video is back up!
Id love it if you did a video where you went through the artists (from the show) instagram pages and react to their other work :)
By the way, I love your videos!
Also sorry if you have already made this video and im just not aware of it haha
These types of videos you do are never long enough. x
Lavender Web could watch this for hours ngl!
I don't know much about tattoo process but imo if I was having a back tat I'd rather have the outline done first then come back for the color etc? But I really don't much
Women with EastEnders tattoo: I lovee eett~!
Me:
*WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!*
Is that your exercise bike with a potted plant and sweater on it? 😂😂
I feel like I’m gonna have a nightmare of waking up with the last tattoo!
I love your reactions to the tattoos, you took the thoughts right out of my head, love your vids❤️❤️
I can't imagine anyone finishing a backpiece in one day. I sat in for 4½h for an upper arm tattoo.
Ok but what eyeshadow are you wearing? I’m really digging that eye look!
Hi ! I remembered you mentioning post malone before ! I think it was inked magazine released a TH-cam video of post malone tattooing a Friend and the comment section it really interesting ! I would love you know you thoughts! :) x
Ooo I’ve seen the video but didn’t look through the comments ! I’ll have a look now! 💕
i lovvvve this idea! please make a video on it (:
Mollie Vickers yes!!!!
Fun fact: one of the tattoo artists (Jay) went to my high school and nearly everybody in my area agrees he’s an average/kinda crap tattoo artist.
He came back to my school and came in my maths class, he seems nice but I don’t know why he’s “one of the UK’s best”
Spill that tea hunty! 🍵
P.s "Keep it real like Ian Beale"
The condom hat comment made me laugh 😂
I feel so sorry for the people who got this shit then end up worse than before fucking hell
There's a german series called 'horror tattoos' which has a similar premise, but the artists are amazing.
I just wanted to share with you that I just got my first back piece! It's not 100% finished yet but will be this month! I love it so much!
I only like the first video because they used a song of Miles Kane and he's one of my favorite artist haha.
With the first video (the Japanese cover-up), I have a feeling that they didn't want to be like 'oh we can't do this in a day' so they made the guy pretend it was too painful to keep going.
um unrelated but excuse me gorgeous you never look like garbage
What I really find annoying with tattoo fixers and body fixers is the dramatic reaction the "fixers" always have when people show them their problems. I mean, yeah it´s mainly their fault if they have a bad tattoo, but it´s so over the top how they react.
i think the skull is on perspective, not the worst ive seen from him
