    I work in a nursing home and can say that tattoos on old people look really cool. I take care of this 70 year old man with lots of tattoos including a half sleeve (he even has a nipple piercing) and he looks like a super cool grandad he doesn’t speak just communicate with gestures and he always grabs my arm to see my tattoos and he smiles when we compliment his you can tell he’s very pleased with them

      Same here! There's a grandpa who works out at my gym. He has traditional biker style tattoos just like me, but his stood the test of time. He looks like a freakin badass and I couldn't care less if his tattoos look all beat up, actually I love old beaten up tattoos! I think they look rad.

    When I was 18 my dad passed away, I then spent 4 months designing my first tattoo in honour of him and just as long tracking down the perfect tattoo artist. I see that tattoo day after day, year after year and THAT'S WHY I LOVE IT! Since then I've had more tattoos with just as much thought and meaning. So don't tell me they signify impulsiveness or bad qualities.
    P.s I've got every job I've ever applied for, and my current FEMALE BOSS has a sleeve and full back piece 😍

      Do you still like all things you liked Ten years ago? His point is you make permanent decisions on putting tattoos on yourself at one age and there’s a very good chance ten - twenty years in the future you’re not gonna feel the same about those images. This person in the video has choose Halloween images , how’s she gonna look in her fifties? She will say she doesn’t care now but wait till she’s in her fifties. Oh well that’s where long sleeves and turtle necks come in. 😹 what a moron.

    -Tattoos usually dont start to smell after being on your body for a month like clothes do.
    -You can choose to hide a tattoo, but if you wear the same clothing for a month, it's very visible and people are going to think you're gross
    -ive had my tattoo for almost a month now, and I haven't felt even slightly as disgusted or regretful as I would feel wearing the same clothes for a month. As a matter of fact, I get grossed out wearing the same leggings two days in a row, but I love my tattoo and I can't wait to see how it looks as it ages.

      Wow what a weak answer.
      I guess it makes sense.
      He wasn't implying someone would wear the same clothes and never wash them.
      But women especially change styles often.
      Just look at her hair. Does she still have that style like my daughter threw up her Lucky Charms on her head? Is she going to ever let it grow out or cut it different? Probably not since she is only 20 something and will never change her mind about anything over the next 60-70 years.
      But that's just me a 58 yr old white guy who hasn't lived long enough to have any experience at life.

    "And you may also miss out on true love because your options will be limited. That's just a fact." I'm so glad you touched on the weeding people out aspect of tattoos because that has always been my first thought when people bring up the risk of being mistreated or written off by others if you get tattoos. Having tattoos is a quick way to see how judgmental other people can be, and those are not people I want to surround myself with.

    So many people don't do the research or fully understand their religions. When it says "You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you" that was added in the Bible in the early 1600s and they translated it incorrectly. Firstly, it originally said closer to " Ye shall not make cuttings in your flesh, for the dead, nor print marks on you.” This was referring to when the Christians learned that Egyptian women got tattoos of symbols and words on their breasts, thighs and abdomens as lucky charms to protect their birthing process, however, Scholars aren't really sure what they meant by the word "marks". In Canaan, they used to be more extreme and branded, slashed or gashed themselves in honor and mourning of their dead loved ones and their Gods. The Christians didn't like them honouring their own Gods because they said they were "fake Gods," so they shouldn't honour them.
    Secondly, the word "tattoo" didn't come into the English language until the 1700s (I believe) which shows that they updated the Bible and *assumed* they were referring to tattoos while also not one hundred per cent sure. As the bible was referring to how the Egyptians and Canaan's did it back in the 1600s, it says nothing about the modern day tattoos. So saying that the bible is against tattoos is incorrect as I stated above, it was not quite tattoos they were against, it was more the slashing and gashing themselves which was probably seen as close to self-mutilation. After all, people were tortured and killed after being whipped, branded, and gashed holes open in their skin, that and they didn't want them having symbols of their Gods on them as I mentioned.
    Thirdly, it also says in the bible that Jesus himself had a tattoo on his thigh; “And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” So if Jesus had one, why can't the rest of us?
    Fourthly, the bible doesn't actually care. I know of priests who have tattoos. All in all, it talks about not getting unholy tattoos, anything to do with devils, deamons and whatnot and don't put them in certain places. Apart from that, the Bible doesn't care.

      Reminds me of a discussion I had with my friend who's a devout Muslim. My question was whether or not Islam had anything to say about tattoos, because if you're a person who expresses their connection to Allah through dressing modestly (not all Muslim women do this, but the woman I was asking does) that why would it matter if you got a tattoo because presumably only your husband and doctor would see it. She said the Quran has more or less a guideline of not altering the body purely for the sake of vanity but it's not explicit and it's a general no for tattoos but she herself is contemplating getting a scar covered with a tattoo. Thanks for sharing this!

    • @MadelineMcQueen1
      @MadelineMcQueen1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yeah, a lot of people don't understand their religions through lack of knowledge and understanding. It's not always the follower's fault, sometimes words/paragraphs were translated incorrectly either by accident or on purpose. Using this subject as an example, they must have known they weren't completely sure if the passage was talking about tattoos but when they updated the Bible, they rephrased it that way anyway. Although, a lot of religious people don't put in enough or any effort to resurch and actually find out the whole/actal truth.

      Plus, Jesus died for our sins. By accepting it and Jesus in our life, and asking him and god for forgiveness, we are forgiven of every sins we ever did. The only sin that is unforgivable is to deny Jesus in our lives. And people mention the bible argument on tattoos, like they never sinned themselves...

    My father doesn't like tattoos because he associates them to weird and toxic environments, but HE HIMSELF admitted that it was just his own belief and that obviously it's not like that (specially in these last years, in which tattoos have become more mainstream and "socially acceptable"). So he agreed to let me attend tattooing classes and paid for them, "because it's a normal job that's also creative and close to your biggest passion" (which is drawing). I cannot thank him enough for going past his "hate" for tattoos and letting me do what I truly wanted. ❤️
    Also, because of this, a ton of my parents' friends are willing to get tattooed for their first time by me and I know that he is kind of proud about it. 😎

Most of us decide on a tattoo, find our artist and most likely wait weeks if not MONTHS for the tattoo we really want done properly and well. Even guys with tattoos can be judge by others saying “Oh he is a gang member” or “He seems uneducated and poor” but it is a lot harder for females with tattoos though because of the idea of what “Beauty” should be.

      Anders Engman Hi! Calling people names when trying to make an argument isn’t very mature, but I do respect your opinion. However, I do believe that some things in life are worth the risk of regret, and for me, ink in my skin is one of them. Just like for you, maybe drinking or doing drugs or having surgery or even having sex with someone in particular may be. Artwork on my skin isn’t something I’m terrified of regretting in life, but that’s my personal feelings! If you think it would be absolutely horrific to feel regret for your tattoos, then you absolutely do not have to get them, just like I choose to not drink or do drugs for fear of regret. Everyone is different ❤️ it’s what makes the world go ‘round!

    • @chelseabean
      @chelseabean 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anders Engman I couldn’t care less if a man I don’t know yet doesn’t like what I choose to do with my body, and I’d rather not skip out on making decisions I want to make for myself “just in case.” Tattoos are becoming more accepted, and I have met only guys who like them (which is fortunate). My dad has very well done tattoos and loves them as much as I do! My mom also has a couple of small ones. Even my grandparents support me getting tattoos, and two of them have them also. I know this may not always be the case for others, but tattoos have not made me any less accepted by society or by my family. I do understand what point he’s *trying* to make in his video, however, I do not believe it’s entirely fair. If I want to risk regretting looking at my tattoos every single day, then I will, and I do. I know that it’s permanent, and that it will age. I did heavy research on my artists. Thank you for being respectful with your second response 😊

      @@andersengman3896 I don't think I'm intentionally being stupid. Then again, if I was truly stupid, how would I know? Lol. But, seriously, it just seemed to me that him making the example of wearing the same set of clothes everday automatically boredom-inducing, wasn't exactly fair. I get his comparison, but, just like with outfits, you can, in fact, alter or remove your tattoos. You can get them lasered off, get a cover-up tattoo over your old one to hide or transform it, get your tattoo touched up if it really isnt that bad and it just needs some new life or a few new elemnts added to it, get a blast-over tattoo, or some combination thereof. Tattoos aren't like permanently loosing an arm or something. They can be tweaked, redone, laserd away and so on, and most tattooed people don't spend hours staring at their tattoos everday -especially if it's on their back or other hard to see places. From what I've heard, it just becomes another part of your body that you like, like your eyes or hair or legs. But I digress. I hope you have a great day, and you keep doing you!

    Seriously, so many things he said are problematic. He is clearly stuck in another time and was probably uncool at that point, too. Since when is a community college not real college? I'm sure he thinks feminism is evil and women belong in the kitchen and as a foot stool for men. Clearly he believes women are for men's enjoyment and also doesn't believe in a women's sense of personal individuality. He sums them up based on their looks and stereotypes them as not being able to take opportunities or make good decisions. I'm sure he has some poor stereotypes about men, too, but mostly keeps opinions of men above those of women. Sigh. I'm so annoyed with him. I can't even bring myself to go look at his channel. They also used to threaten to take away my car if I ever got a tattoo because that's what a family friend did when their daughter got a tattoo while at college. Well I'm 37 and I finally got tattoos. I am so glad I did. There for many reasons why I wanted them. One of those reasons was that by having tattoos myself I could get over the judgmental notion my parents had tried ingraining into my head growing up because I disagreed with it. How can I judge someone else for having a tattoo now that I have tattoos. I love them I don't regret them they have meaning to me they represent my family (myself, my Ex, and my two kids).

    the hatred on women having tattoos i think stems from misogyny and men thinking their opinions on what woman should look like matters or will somehow influence what women choose to do with their body, the same for when men say, 'I prefer girls with no makeup' bullshit that we hear, which can obviously sometimes come from a good place of some men trying to help perhaps their partner feel comfortable in their own skin, but a lot of the time, it's again, men feeling somehow so entitled that they say something about a womans physical appearance and suddently all women will throw away their makeup and get all their tattoos lasered in the hope they will win the approval of these men.

      Au contraire, Nancy the very fact that you feel the need to point that out reflects your own insecurities and immaturity on this matter. Before making the cliché assumptions about "misogyny" "the oppressive patriarchy" etc, why don't you step back and consider that there may be some truth to his claims? He has daughters who got tattooed which is partly why he made this video.
      It's clear more often than not it's young women getting tattoos, it doesn't make them strong necessarily, rather it could be argued that it shows lack of foresight and maturity because many tattoos end up being regretted and are just a phase. It also shows a need to either feel special/unique or stand out(low self-esteem).
      Permanently marking your body is big deal, and he doesn't want anyone to do it and then regret it miss out on opportunities because of it, that's why he made the video. He never said tattoos are never okay; when the time is right, go ahead and do it

  • @isabelperry4097
    @isabelperry4097 5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Thank you for your rage, it was vicariously cathartic!
    There are so MANY things wrong with this guy's video, I'm having a hard time even processing it!
    My thoughts so far:
    1. Aside from the ludicrous comparison of tattoos to clothes, that offer is absolutely a bargain. I have literally worn the same outfit for over a month before, and good leather, denim, and wool, if cared for, will last for years, making them well worth the conditions set, which aren't really deterrents anyway??
    2. When I was twelve I might have chosen a butterfly tattoo on my foot, or a VFD eye on my ankle, or a rat literally anywhere. All of which I am still considering a decade later.
    3. My dad, who has multiple tattoos including a large phoenix on his arm, is employed by the government and well paid. I've wanted tattoos since I was about five and he came home from a business trip with that gorgeous phoenix.
    4. Any romantic options closed to me because of tattoos are options I would not have pursued anyway. If a person can't accept tattoos, they're really not going to like the rest of me.
    5. Regretting a tattoo doesn't seem to have anything to do with art quality, it seems to be the meaning of the piece or the subject depicted.
    6. Actually, I really like the way aged tattoos look. Better than fresh tattoos, to be fully honest. I look forward to getting old and staying rad.
    7. I don't really understand how tattoos can be impulsive nowadays. It takes money and time, even if you choose an artist randomly and pick flash off the wall and don't bother with aftercare. And me, I've been sitting on half my ideas for a decade and the other half over a year - they're things I know for sure I want, and am willing to wait for. Besides which, what's wrong with impulsivity? Some of my best ever decisions were impulses and based solely on gut feeling. And mistakes are good learning experiences, too.
    8. My parents both have tattoos and are also amazing parents - supportive, structured, honest, and kind. They've been married over 23 years and are still disgustingly in love.
    9. Of course tattoos are selfish? I mean? You get them for yourself on your own body, what else would they be?? Selfishness is not always a bad thing, and it's not like getting a tattoo actually hurts other people, so.
    10. Tattoos are not graffiti on the Taj Mahal, they're stained glass windows in a church.
    11. My 17yo self would not only disregard this video, but would also probably get a tattoo *just* to spite these kinds of people. And would consider it like poison frogs - the bright colors warn away (some) unwanted attention.

    IMO, if having tattoos is going to cause you to "miss out on the love of your life," they aren't really "the love of your life." If someone finds tattoos unattractive and doesn't want to date someone who's heavily tattooed, fair enough. I don't care. That's their preference, just like everything else appearance-wise. If two people have that big of a difference in preferences/opinions and it's a deal-breaker for one or both, it's simply not the right fit. (but like also we can have preferences without being rude to people with differing opinions because that's how opinions work lol)

They were so happy that I told them I wanted them and were asking for their opinion because I didn’t get them when I was 14-15-16( they were shitty ideas). Going back to the religious point of view my family is insanely religious but most of my aunts and uncles are tattooed because of the artwork or meaning behind their tattoo. My family is the type of family to have a wall of crosses and murals dedicated to God but they never, ever made someone feel uncomfortable in their presence because of their tattoos, sexuality,religion or race. True Christians will never judge someone based on those things because what God really said is never judge anyone and accept everyone for the way they are.From a religious standpoint the accusation that “it’s against God”is absolute bullshit.
