Yeah I don't mind people being picky and particular as long as I am paid for my time, changing things can yet frustrating but yes at the end of the day they want what the want, so it needs to be right
It also shows you didn't research the artist well enough. I put a lot of research in before deciding who I want to do my tattoos, looking at theirs and many other portfolios on social media, meaning that I am 100% confident that my chosen artist will be able to nail my idea even better than what I had in mind. This has always been the case, every time I see the stencil on the day I'm blown away and, because of the research and the good initial description of what I wanted (including crude sketches), I have never had to ask for any changes.
I’ve said before I’ll say it again. It was a garbage idea and dude got a garbage tattoo. He was awkward af and a terrible client. Standing over his shoulder the whole time he drawing? GTFO. I cringed through the whole video.
Noelle Irina I meant the idea for the whole video was garbage. Intentionally going to a poorly rated artist. His idea for the tattoo was ok at best. Could have been pulled off by a proper tattoer though.
You do understand the show right? The name says it all its not like he was trying to get real work done on his arm it was for a TV show!!! Not Garbage the reason they picked Taji Ameen is that he's so cringy and has super anxiety! Tired of all the shit-talking about CRINGE moments on the show, that was the fucking idea you bunch of tards!!!
I found the vice video so...weird...like the artist agreed he's badly rated? And they kind of danced around the topic. And of course he was nice to an obvious vice journalist who's basically trying to see if he's that bad....and its permanent????? And it's not a very good tattoo...but I've seen way worse all over so i feel like he could've found genuinely bad tattoo places EASILY.
It's also a fact, that the Vice people had to contact the people in the studio first, to be sure that they can film there. So it might be that worse tattoo artists declined this because of the filming.
I do feel for Nate and things can go downhill very quickly when things are feeling a bit shitty in life. But, I really dislike the tattoo that he did. I don't think it's just not my style. I think it's too dark and - as you say Lauren - it doesn't look like what it was meant to look like.
Honestly I'm so annoyed by this guy. He's giving away false rating like wtf Just because the tattoo artist is a nice guy, doesn't mean he's automatically talented 😑 Also, his shirt is horrible
I remember watching this a little while back and while the tattoo artist isn’t the best, as far as the review about him misspelling remember goes like that’s your own damn fault. If you aren’t going to check the spelling on their outlines before letting them permanently ink it in your skin you deserve the misspelled word.
@@lulucanpy3513 that's what my fiance had to do. He had to sign off on the sketch and then sign another paper once the stencil was on. Basically a waiver putting all the responsibility on the client.
If you go and read the yelp reviews the bad ones are obviously either 1 of 2 things: 1) Nate was 100% on drugs and getting high while tattooing OR 2) the reviewer is an idiot and has 0 idea how to be a tattoo client. "He didn't want to copy this dumb pinterest tattoo onto me!!!" "I didn't research artists and tried to get a full sleeve in a style he told me he didn't have experience doing!!" Boo fucking hoo 🙄
I literally haven’t even started the video yet I just wanna compliment your look omg girl you are slaying. That makeup? That hair? A tattooed queen, truly.
maybe you should say who, so other people could go check out their videos. if you're genuinely trying to help the original creator, kudos. if you're just trying to start drama, foh bro
I feel awful for that artist! I have had similar experiences at work and felt so awful that I wanted to die. Which isn’t ideal consider I work for a mental health service. I couldn’t have time out I still had to show up to work, I didn’t even do any work and had multiple people complain I look miserable unfortunately I was told I had to be at work.. I feel for the dude
Were you rude to others though? One of my friends committed suicide because of how she was treated on a mental health ward by doctors and nurses. Calling her a "drama queen", that she wasn't really unwell etc. There were several inquiries, ultimately finding that staff acted inappropriately. They didn't even bother to call her dad when she left (she killed herself hours after being discharged). She was on the cover of the West Australian. Please consider how your actions affect others, especially when they come to you for help...
It’s not actually a unique idea. It was stolen from a guy called PhilipSolo who makes really funny and quality content so you should check him out on here. Luckily he’s actually blown up since the vice video came out which is cool because he deserves it. He went from 20k to 300k subscribers because of that video and people calling them out on taking his idea for going to the worst reviewed places. In general I like the video. I think online reviews are kind of fucked up in general. Everyone wants to think that they’re so big and important and that everyone is just dying to hear their shitty opinions of businesses. I’ve worked in retail for a good ten years now and customers can go get fucked in general. Just so many awful, entitled pricks in this world who think that everyone should bend over backwards to cater to their every need everywhere they go or we’re going to feel the wrath of the keyboard warriors.
Yea I got surprised when she sad it's original when Phil's comment is the top one under the video. They took the bad review concept and executed it pretty poorly.
I saw Phillips do food reviews and now everyone's doing this with click bait like who's that guy that said he was gonna fill his pool with wine but the end it was a kitty pool
I had no idea who started it. I've seen so many "going to the worst rated x". So I just figured it was like any other TH-cam trend where it blows up and no one knows where it came from because everyone hops on the band wagon.
I skipped around on the original video like last month and I was going through the comments and there was a lot of people saying that this idea was stolen from a smaller creator
Also if I had a studio and I had issues that spilled over like this guy I would've rather had to close my shop or sell it or get someone else to take the lead for a while and come back working for someone else when I'm better rather than destroying my name
I think that there’s something he said that needs to be discussed. He said about how he did a few bad tattoos and people sort of jumped on the bandwagon as such. How many people have been exposed for fake reviews? It’s possible the people who had the bad tattoos told their friends and such to also leave bad reviews when they themselves haven’t been to him. Once something starts pack mentality can kick in, it’s how rumors start. If one person labels someone as such, other people also do it. Not excusing his bad tattoos, nobody deserves a horrible tattoo. I’m just saying he might not have been as awful as the intro made him out to be.
I love your aesthetics and can't help but notice your makeup (it's so pretty). Would you ever consider doing a beauty and makeup related video to show what products you use because your eyeshadow is always so vibrant and well done :)
I did one last week (An Easy Halo Cut Crease Tutorial - th-cam.com/video/FHYusjRWRgE/w-d-xo.html) and I’m gonna try do one a week from now on as a bonus video (so I’ll still have 3 tattoo related videos a week) 😀
I tend to take any online reviews with a grain of salt. For one, the only time I’ve ever even thought about posting a review was after a bad experience. I’ve never left a restaurant after an excellent meal and thought, “Hey, I need to go post about how great everything was on yelp.” So if enough people do the same thing, you going to see a disproportionate amount of bad reviews compared to good ones. And second, I’ve seen tons of online campaigns that are out to ruin someone or their business for one reason or another. Maybe someone lies in a social media post that goes viral and now everyone is after the perceived bad guy in the situation. Or maybe something actually did happen where the business was in the wrong but it goes viral and now a huge amount of anonymous people are calling for their head. There’s all sorts of shit like that going on every day. So I tend not to put much, if any, stock in online reviews. That’s just me though.
I do go "Hey, this was great, I will give this place five stars!" when I get excellent service somewhere. I think what doesn't happen is people giving out four and three star reviews. Why would you go "this was meh" and then go online to review it?
I do agree, that you should Take a step Back from Work when your emotions effect it, more so If you have a Job with responsibility over peoples lifes . A doctor can not f*ck up a persons body just bc he had a rough life . The Tattoos stay forever with the clients and an Artist should always mind that
He’s permanently messed up people’s skin and been paid to do it. Plus although I feel sorry for him I don’t think he’s got the skill for the job. His work kinda sucks 🙈
I usually don't watch channels dedicated to just one thing, but i really enjoy your vids, plus it helped me educate my friend on his first tattoo *im 17, so no tattoos yet. Been playing my first for 6 months!*
I never understood people leaving such hateful reviews. There’s a difference between telling the truth about ur experience and just complaining and shitting on a business because u can. People don’t put much thought into what they say. Its like they don’t think/care how they affect other people. Put positivity out and you receive it back.
still better than the guys off tattoo "fixers". If that design was bigger, it;d be easier to read but I think that's the client interfering. you could see the original design was so much bigger
Oh dear, sadly that tat really didn't look any good..... and (in my humble opinion) the artist just seemed so dissociated with his client during the consultation process. Sadly I'm in agreement with the other comments below, if your not passionate about doing tattooing, then don't do it, move on to something else that brings you joy instead.
I love your reaction to the "worst rated" tattoo artist! Haha I had the sameee reaction! I really enjoyed him. He's very laidback. And he dealt with the dude's pickings very well...
I browsed the studios Instagram page, and while not the best tattoos I've seen, there's something I like about them. And I've seen people hype up way worse tattoos. Boy do I have stories 😂😂😂
Tattoo artists are put under so much pressure. Being a piercer or a tattoo artist (or both) is my dream job. I've been into body modification my whole life.
yeah i get a vague vision in my head so then i describe it as well and as detailed as i can to my artist whose work i trust and then whatever they come up with is always fine with me
Justin E this. This how you get tattoos. Do your research and find YOUR artist. Build the trust and let them take the wheel. Micromanage and you get a shit tattoo.
i literally havent changed anything about the tattoos ive had so far. the artist knew what he wanted and it was amazing so at this point im pretty happy for what he wants to tattoo to be on my skin. also i love the end card!
Before i even watch...gotta say your makeup is looking amazing in this vid. I love when you go for bold reds and pinks. Makes me inspired to play with more reds and pinks
Fun fact for those who may feel worried about the fish tank: stingrays are fairly common in the fishkeeping community, although they tend to be quite expensive. The tank didn't look to be in the best condition tho, so idk how the fish are doing... But it's absolutely legal to keep quite a big variety of stingrays, both fresh- and saltwater species. (:
The instant a client in a tattoo shop says “not to be a pain in the ass” its like the shop itself lets out a collective sigh. I was in a shop once and the artist had spent months designing a full sleeve for this woman and she came in saw it and wanted to change SO MANY THING she had changed her mind and her appointment was the next week and the artist kept so composed and professional and went the client left she put her head down on the desk and just tried not to cry. I felt so bad. This woman was nuts. I get people should get what they want but dude...dont change it the week before she took months designing it.
I like to cruise around on Google reviews for tattoo studios to find local talent to follow on Instagram most I follow are from Canada or UK otherwise. I'm a super particular person but I also gotta trust my artists you know. For my latest I drew a quick thing of my idea (cuz I can draw) included some references and then some inspiration so she could see what my general taste is and it turned out great
That dude requesting a million changes made me angry. Nate was set up to fail here and honestly he didn't do too bad with that in mind. Also with the flash art shown being traditional I wonder if this style was even up his alley. It would have been fairer to ask for a traditional swallow with a banner, for instance - loads of swallow tattoos exist to compare it to and the banner would test his skill at lettering.
I grew up a few blocks from Fat Cats and yeah hes definitely acting diffrent because there is a camera. On top of that i know quiet a few people who got work there and they were HORRENDOUS pieces. People just went there out of the need to get there tattoo 'right now' and because it was local. Everything was bleeding lines and sloppy color nightmares. Ive gotten basement tattoos while drunk that look 1000% better.
I look at their Instagram, then the shop's website, then the Google reviews. If they don't have an Instagram it's an instant no. If the shop doesn't have a website it's an instant no.
I have gotten 2 tattoos from a specific artist. She does amazing work. My third piece from her is a thigh piece. I felt so awful the entire time because I kept having requests. She made the piece completely not my style at first and it was extremely uncomfortable. She tried to be reassuring that it’s okay because it’s my body. I could sense she was annoyed. I have 11 prior tattoos and never once changed more than a couple minor details. I am happy with how it came out but I don’t think she is. I don’t know how to handle this type of thing.
I have seen this video, the tattoo seemed fine as far as I remember but I'm commenting before the end of the video lol, I'll see what you say now haha. But I'm very intruiged by your pretty hair plait
I think if he wasn't on film he'd be like... '' mate back off a little'' which would be so totally fine. I have never really changed a tattoo that's been designed for me, they have always been like spot on. I know 3 people with different shops that they run and they have had bad reviews because they refuse to do certain tattoos, like hands or face if they have no other visable ones, or one who won't do names or dates because people get them covered up alll time again like a month later haha
I think it’s good to view ratings. I mean, we are lucky in Portland, OR, because we are blessed with many good tattoo artists, but it’s good to double check with people’s experiences. I have heard of people stealing artists portfolios and pretending that it’s their art, or shops being unsanitary. I have also been an apprentice at a shop that was full of creepy dudes who were just tattooing to get into the pants of underage girls and I wish I would have known this about them before I had taken the apprenticeship. People do tend to be way more rude and leave brutal reviews that aren’t warranted when online, but often you can get a feel of what a shop is like from Yelp or Google reviews. I mean, you could just look at the comments they have on Instagram, but I don’t know, better to have too much info than not enough, you know? ❤️ I love the Vice One Star Rated show. Taji (sp?) is so sweet. I feel like he does a good job at exposing unfair reviews by assholes. Loved this video, per usual!
I checked the reviews now and they’re at a 4.4 star rating on google and Nate has a lot of good reviews about them so I’m glad they got their act together
For the most part I usually trust the artist. Often what they draw up is better than anything my imagination could come up with. I do however take reference pictures with me and then tell the artist any changes I may like. Nate seems pretty chill but as you say when you know someone's watching you it can make a huge difference to your behaviour. God knows I would run out of patience if I was an artist with customers like this! That being said I think this guy may be toying with Nate to see if he does lose it. Who knows??????
I've only ever asked to change one small thing about a tattoo before getting it (once to make it slightly smaller, and once to change a specific facial feature), and always in discussion with the artist - they know what they're doing! The more you let them do their job the better it will be for sure.
I actually draw all my tattoos by myself because I have a clear image in my head of what I want and if the tattoo artist doesn't agree with anything in the design or has own ideas I will listen to him and just make my idea with him more professional
girl, the 5star one was literally by the guy from the vid lmao. Taji? you made me laugh not seeing that ily - and I agree with all you said. I don't think the tat was good at all but I feel for the guy
I once picked a tattoo studio by its online rating. I was on holiday in NYC and looked for highest rated were I was staying in Brooklyn and then picked the name I liked best out of the highest rated. It worked out out wonderfully.
In all honest a lot of times you don’t realize how bad a situation was until the storm had past which can make it hard to know when you need to take a step back. As a person who has depression there were times I tried to power through something only to realize later it would have been better to take a break.
I think the tattoo may have been better if the Vice guy hadn't asked for a million revisions while hovering over the tattoo artist. The composition of the tattoo sucks but I think it can be easily fixed with making some parts black to make it readable.
So I'm watching this video with my parrot, and just as she goes "who doesn't like birds" she licked the screen right on the like button. Honestly I lost my mind.
Okay I wanna comment mid video since you’re touching on a subject I have been through. Yes taking a step back especially in this industry is mainly the best choice. I worked as an apprentice for 2 years for a studio & had been brought up so well, my work was fluent & things went well. After moving I was on my own, had to take time off it’s been almost 3 years & I’ve only worked on two people since then. Honestly those tattoos do not represent me they’re not nearly as good, & I don’t feel as proud of them like the ones I’ve done before this time. For anyone going through this just know it’s better to practice & rebuild that confidence because our customers deserve our best & we as artists cannot produce that unless we are on top of it. So now I’m not taking clients in until I’ve come to a point we’re I feel I’ve gained that back. It’s taken time but it’s better to find a temporary job & come back instead of burrowing through. Your work reflects you so much it’s just better not to damage your reputation because it’s so fragile & we live in such an exposing time. Anyways I just wanted to put that out there for any other tattoo artist or even just creators who are going through a tough time & aren’t sure about what to do. We all are human but we have to take care of ourselves we came into this business for our art & if we want to expand that future we need to do what’s best because that dream will not die as long as we don’t butcher it. Also love the video your commentary on the artist is adorable💖
I think you may need to watch the video completely, there were some important parts missing (I saw it a while back). And that 5 stars comment on yelp is from the guy from Vibe who's on the video. Overall, I was expecting this review, that's cool :D Thanks for making content
not to really defend any bad tat artists, but i feel like most people only write reviews if they have bad service with someone out of revenge or vengeance... not many people will go out of there way to write a good review for someone
I’ve only changed a tattoo design once and it’s because my artist was designing a tattoo after a real thing in my life. She’d added some tattoo traditional flourishes to the piece that made what I wanted look more like a dream catcher and not recognizable as this real life item I had. I’m very anxious and normally wouldn’t be comfortable asking an artist to change a design which is why for something so personal I went to a tattoo artists I work with often and consider a friend.
My artist for my first tattoo somehow read my mind and got the exact tone I wanted even though it ended up looking completely different from what I described.
Yeah birds are cool. They fly

Not Garbage the reason they picked Taji Ameen is that he's so cringy and has super anxiety! Tired of all the shit-talking about CRINGE moments on the show, that was the fucking idea you bunch of tards!!!
@@Rclay0129 What do you expect from Vice
@@noelleirina5628 It kinda does, especially when the client tries to micromanage the whole thing.
@@jennilammi2930 most of the bad reviews mentioned Nate and he was the artist in this video
He's giving away false rating like wtf
Just because the tattoo artist is a nice guy, doesn't mean he's automatically talented 😑
Also, his shirt is horrible
I remember watching this a little while back and while the tattoo artist isn’t the best, as far as the review about him misspelling remember goes like that’s your own damn fault. If you aren’t going to check the spelling on their outlines before letting them permanently ink it in your skin you deserve the misspelled word.
I know some artists get clients to sign off on stencils with words before tattooing, so it really would be the client's fault.
It looked like the most recent review (5 stars) was from the guy who did the video.
Yeah I think it was
I literally haven’t even started the video yet I just wanna compliment your look omg girl you are slaying. That makeup? That hair? A tattooed queen, truly.
This series idea was totally ripped off a small TH-cam creator and likeeee....No thanks :/
maybe you should say who, so other people could go check out their videos. if you're genuinely trying to help the original creator, kudos. if you're just trying to start drama, foh bro
No she's right. His channel is called PhilipSolotv and he's the one who started this whole serie..
@@seenyerdoeseverythingelse8264 I think they're talking about vices series not treacles
Ow ☹️ so sorry you went through all that 💙
Were you rude to others though? One of my friends committed suicide because of how she was treated on a mental health ward by doctors and nurses. Calling her a "drama queen", that she wasn't really unwell etc. There were several inquiries, ultimately finding that staff acted inappropriately. They didn't even bother to call her dad when she left (she killed herself hours after being discharged). She was on the cover of the West Australian. Please consider how your actions affect others, especially when they come to you for help...
@@skullsaintdead no where in the original comment does it seem like the op was rude to anyone.
I feel for you too! I work as a teacher for kids with severe emotional trauma and if you’re off it’s extremely difficult.
@@disguisedboots That's why I asked... Actions have consequences, and for my friend, someone else's 'off day' meant her death.
Honestly! I do always think it's ridiculous and a bit sad when people threaten to leave bad reviews unless you do what they want.
Love the hair, love the makeup and fucking like the shirt! Gurl u look good in this video
Ow thank you so much 💙
His tattoo was literal shit tho, that will just become an even more jumbled mess than it is now.
I skipped around on the original video like last month and I was going through the comments and there was a lot of people saying that this idea was stolen from a smaller creator
Oh no 😩 I didn’t read comments as I didn’t want any spoilers! That sucks so much! If I had known I would have addressed that in the video ☹️
Yeah PhillipSoloTV I believe
treacle tatts PhilipSolo! Really quality content. You should check him out!
@@treacletatts Could you maybe add a link in the description box to the smaller youtuber's channel?
Vice is known for the bullshit, so I’m not surprised
The Tattoos stay forever with the clients and an Artist should always mind that
Why are you so pretty?? You're destroying my self esteem
Oh psssshhh! You’re a queen!!
@@treacletatts you just made my day ^^ Ly ❤️

He’s permanently messed up people’s skin and been paid to do it. Plus although I feel sorry for him I don’t think he’s got the skill for the job. His work kinda sucks 🙈
I usually don't watch channels dedicated to just one thing, but i really enjoy your vids, plus it helped me educate my friend on his first tattoo *im 17, so no tattoos yet. Been playing my first for 6 months!*
Eeeek! You’ll be getting one before you know it 😀
Ive been planning my tattoo Sense I was 17 and now I’m 19 and still don’t have one 😭😭😭

Ah I have that one too ! Her prints are awesome 😀
Who else always likes the video even before watching? 😂❤️
i literally havent changed anything about the tattoos ive had so far. the artist knew what he wanted and it was amazing so at this point im pretty happy for what he wants to tattoo to be on my skin. also i love the end card!
I get people should get what they want but dude...dont change it the week before she took months designing it.
i make my own designs for tattoos and just let the tattooist fix some stuff
I never really have a vision, I haven't got much imagination 😅 I trust my artists to do something amazing each time! Also I love the hair plaits ❣️
I like to cruise around on Google reviews for tattoo studios to find local talent to follow on Instagram most I follow are from Canada or UK otherwise.
I'm a super particular person but I also gotta trust my artists you know. For my latest I drew a quick thing of my idea (cuz I can draw) included some references and then some inspiration so she could see what my general taste is and it turned out great
When I get my piercings I always look at reviews, I’m never getting an in studio infection again.
Love the split dye, especially with those braids! Always look forward to your uploads 🖤
Yelp needs a one star review. They'll let anyone post a review up there and you're stuck with it.
1Cichfishy yelp sucks
I’ve literally never altered any tattoo design after my artist draws up the initial thing lmao. Also that tattoo shop looks dope af.
This is my favorite look! Love the eyeshadow with your blue hair ❤
Gah Lauren! Love you, love your vids but purlease straighten your background picture frames!!! Love that for me 😉
This particular "Vice" media company is Canadian, founded in Montreal in 1994.
My tight tattoo my artist made. I told him what I was thinking and gave him freedom to do what he though looked best. Best tattoo!
I checked the reviews now and they’re at a 4.4 star rating on google and Nate has a lot of good reviews about them so I’m glad they got their act together
Going to create a piece about birds now, stay tuned for it on my design page on Instagram😂 @jsyvretcreative
I suspect that as well
Omg when this came out I never realized you made a video on it!!! I wanted you to tho!!
I've only ever asked to change one small thing about a tattoo before getting it (once to make it slightly smaller, and once to change a specific facial feature), and always in discussion with the artist - they know what they're doing! The more you let them do their job the better it will be for sure.
The most recent five star review looks like it was left by the guy from Vice, so that’s a bummer.
I don't look at tattoos reviews. I look at their work
When I have a specific vision in my mind I usually have a thousand and one references and I usually sketch it as well
Love the hair, love the makeup, love you and love the set up😍😍
I actually draw all my tattoos by myself because I have a clear image in my head of what I want and if the tattoo artist doesn't agree with anything in the design or has own ideas I will listen to him and just make my idea with him more professional
girl, the 5star one was literally by the guy from the vid lmao. Taji? you made me laugh not seeing that ily - and I agree with all you said. I don't think the tat was good at all but I feel for the guy
I love your content- I just found you recently and subbed! You're awesome Keep it up!!
The art itself isn’t the only aspect of getting a tattoo that isn’t important imo. The customer service and atmosphere is very important too
Love your hair, you could make a turorial on how you did it
I once picked a tattoo studio by its online rating. I was on holiday in NYC and looked for highest rated were I was staying in Brooklyn and then picked the name I liked best out of the highest rated. It worked out out wonderfully.
yes that tattoo guy has a patience of a saint
Sorry, this isn't about the content but I am living for this eye look!!

In all honest a lot of times you don’t realize how bad a situation was until the storm had past which can make it hard to know when you need to take a step back. As a person who has depression there were times I tried to power through something only to realize later it would have been better to take a break.
Lauren the newest comment on the Yelp page was by Taji the guy from the video!
Yeah for tattoos, I have never thought to look at reviews.
I always base it off their personal websites, instagram, facebook. 🙆🏻
Yeah I went to that place when I was 18 for a piercing and I wasn’t fully educated/ aware that fish tanks shouldn’t be at a tattoo parlor lol 🙈
I always love watching your reactions!
Makes me wonder if Nate reached out to vice for their lowest rated series as a marketing attempt.
You have to do a tutorial on how you did your hair! It looks gorgeous 😍
There's a second review section on yelp of reviews that haven't been approved for the main page that might have more weird or bad reviews
I'm slightly obsessed with you and that's bad cause I should be studying and here I am...
My artist for my first tattoo somehow read my mind and got the exact tone I wanted even though it ended up looking completely different from what I described.
I've corrected spelling and tweaked size a little... but that's it so far for changing a design.
Love your react series! Also, whether it is your lipstick, or plumper/new filler, your lips are looking gorgeous!!!!!!
