@@RegularFlyGuy I think you're right. A lot of the hate probably came from the OT fans that were adults back then, that believed George "ruined" SW with the prequels, and by extension started hating the actors that played in it.
In fact a lot of that hate from OT fans was a direct reason that George ended up selling SW to Disney in the first place.
Hearing his voice almost brake when saying "I can't tell you how much this means to me". I'ts incredible seeing Hayden getting the love he deserves. And to all the people who were there? You're all amazing. You guys showed him that he really is Anakin Skywalker. You guys are incredible.

I grew up with the prequels and Hayden was my favorite actor in episode 3 and never hated him. I'm truly happy that Hayden got to be vindicated and enjoy being a part of star wars again regardless of quality. and seeing him have so much fun again and lighting up like a christmas tree was in and of itself the reward. I just wish that Jake Lloyd got to hold on longer to see this, what happened to him wasn't fair either and its tragic and a shame of what became of him.
All the old people who hated him are gone, and the kids that love him are grown.

I NEVER KNEW HE HAD HATE
At this point, I’ve just convinced myself anakin was an ultra dramatic, super cringey teenager, whose hormones were soooo out of whack because of the force. That his lines make sense, and he’s just being a corny teenager who had zero cool people influence his upbringing (grew up on tattooine around watto and his mom, than obi wan who was like mr perfect.)
Most people didn't hate his performance, he was quite well received, but the internet and social media platforms hadn't really taken off back then so the general audience didn't have a very loud voice, his main critics were unemployed overweight middle aged men who live in their parents basement and accused him of ruining their childhoods. Just insane.
I'm just really happy he now knows how much his fan appreciate him, fuck all those boomers from the 2000's his real fans are grown and are the majority.

@@lolforlife2487 I don't buy that. How many young kids are excited about the sequels? The toys didn't really sell very well. Just because another trilogy was released in the next generation doesn't mean the same thing will magically happen again. Maybe they're just bad movies that no one will particularly care for in the future. I mean, maybe, but I super doubt it. I just don't think they have much staying power. There's no love, passion or coherent direction to them, unlike the prequels.

Having grown up watching Hayden, it makes me so happy to see him get the respect and love he deserves.
the real love for him was born into people growing up with star wars as kids. Now we are all grown up, and its great to give him the support he deserves
His delivery of some of his classic lines are so unique. "YOU WILL NOT TAKE HER FROM ME!"
Hayden got a really shitty deal over his work in the prequels. The guy's light saber work is incredible, and his portrayal of Anakin's transformation into Darth is quite simply classic cinema.
He's a legend, and it's about time he was appreciated for it.

My first exposure to Hayden was the film Shattered Glass. His performance in it has stuck with me for the last twenty years, and through all the undeserved blowback after the prequel trilogy came out I kept thinking damn, this man deserves so much better. I'm so glad people are finally giving him his flowers for a long, high profile, and sadly thankless career.
It’s because we’re all grown up now and can show him how much he meant to us. I was 11 when Episode 2 came out and I instantly loved him as Anakin. Hitting high school and learning so many people hated him blew my mind honestly
I was older when the prequels came out, and I always thought he did great. Glad to see him get his props now.
Took twenty years but he got the ovation he deserved. I was too young to hate on the prequel trilogy. I loved the fights mostly, my brothers and I would watch the Mustafar fight on repeat and start fighting with sticks. He's always been cool with me.

Anakin was like a hero for me when I was a kid, Hayden never deserved the hate. No one hates Star Wars more than the Star wars fans and even George Lucas said it: They didn't liked the prequels because they are not kids anymore

I say it all the time. It was never Christian’s fault. Guy played the role perfectly with what they gave him.
Any issue in the prequels can be traced back to George. Unfortunately, he was on a high horse during those movies and had many yes men around him who did everything he wanted, even if it made the movie worse. There's a reason the 2 best OT movies weren't directed by him.

I remember seeing him first play Anakin when I was 5 (Born in 1997) and I loved it. When I saw him turn into Vader in Revenge of the Sith I was honestly so upset because I didn't fully understand that he was Luke's father. I thought the guy got full on betrayed, and then noticing later Hayden also got full on betrayed by SW fans. Seeing him be absolutely cheered for in this video makes me so happy. Well guess it's time to watch them all the way through again.

The prequel trilogy got so much hate but I did not know it at the time the movies came out. I just remember loving these movies as a kid. We built plastic lightsabers from pvc pipe and would paint them and fight in the front yard whilst cars would drive by and honk. We would watch and rewatch all the movies. So much love for this guy! He was amazing!

I was not a fan of the prequels, however, I always felt really bad for Hayden because of the way “fans” treated him. Ironic since his cameos and guest spots have been the best things about Obi Wan and Ahsoka IMO.

Loved him as a kid watchin' the movies and even now. To me he's synonymous with the character Anakin/Vader much like Henry Cavill is with Superman and would never accept anyother actor in his place.

It's a shame because if his script wasn't dog shit (because he's actually a decent actor) his career could have been drasticly different. The good thing is he's happy where his life went.
The funny thing is everybody trash the prequel trilogy for so long and it got so much hate but then after Disney took over and all the fans saw what kind of trash that they put out in the theater is and how they've destroyed the franchise with the sequel trilogy people are starting to have a better appreciation for the prequels and they're actually getting the respect that they deserve and that includes Hayden who unfortunately took a crazy amount of criticism for the prequel trilogy and naturally it had to be emotional for him to see the fans respond to him the way that they did..
The kids that admired him are adults now. I remember seeing episode 3 multiple times with my mom and dad. I still to this day watch it. I hate hearing how he was treated back then but now it’s come full circle.
I feel like this cycle will continue forever with star wars. After a generation or two the cast of the sequels will get the same treatment from those that grew up with those movies because at the end of the day it's the nostalgia that matters over everything.

I was a kid during the prequels and enjoyed them. Sure, they were a little cheesy, every star wars movie had some cheese. It's like all the old fans forget Miss Piggy's voice coming out of a little frog man puppet in the OT.
Hayden did the best he could with what was given to him. I never understood why people hated him and Jake Lloyd so much that it drove poor Jake to quit acting.

I was 14 when Ep 3 came out and ever since loved it. The older i get the more i see the cheesy/corny aspects of the prequels but idgaf, i like em except JarJar. Especially because of Ewan and him.

Enough to make a grown man cry! I feel him, he thought everyone always hated him in thay roll. Im 28 now and i can tell you, he always deserved that love and praisen. For me, haden was darth vader. He was the embodyment of the dark side, and he always played it better than anyone else! To watch his fall from grace as a kid and then to grow up and actually understand, its the greatest feeling ever.

I'm gonna get some hate for this comment, but if you read the whole damn thing, you may feel differently.... SO... DON'T jump to conclusions right away.
As someone who watched Star Wars in the movie theater WHEN it was originally released in 1977 (yes, I still call it Star Wars and NOT "A New Hope"... because that was the film's title when it was released), I can tell you that I DID NOT enjoy Hayden Christensen's performance in Episode II and Episode III. It was stilted and stiff and to think otherwise is not looking at it objectively. Hell, I didn't even like Mark Hamill's performance in Star Wars (1977).
I first saw Hayden in the film Life as a House and thought it rather compelling and was looking forward to his performance in Episode II. Boy was I disappointed. It was a let down. But then I saw Hayden in Shattered Glass and that performance was incredible. It was then I realized that Hayden wasn't to blame. I think a lot of that had to do with the writing and lack of direction. The blame lies with George Lucas, not Hayden.
It was a joy to watch him in Obi-Wan Kenobi and more recently, in Ahsoka.
Give that Man another movie, we need Prime Anakin in an alternate reality where Palpatine was defeated and Anakin takes down Palps grandmaster
