I'm sure Hayden spent a significant amount of his life thinking people hated his performance. And sure, some people did. But for the rest of us who grew up with Hayden, to us, he is our Anakin. He is our Vader.

Agreed. I loved Hayden as Anakin and thought it to be a believable portrayal and great casting choice. And the Guy is just so humble and awesome to see on and off the set.
Would have been cooler if they gave him a lightsaber to ignite in the darkness like Vaders badass entrance in rogue one where it looks like the rebels are looking down a dark hall until you hear the see the saber ignite, but was a cool entrance either way I’m just thinking how it could of been even cooler.
Judging by how many times Hayden's voice cracks throughout the interview, you can tell he was moved and overwhelmed by all of the love he is being showered with. He essentially almost cried at one point.
I mean imagine all the work put into being all of that. angsty characters aren't likable, but hayden got so much, too much, hate. I'm so glad that his return is met with so much love and appreciation. Who knows how much emotional/mental hurt was caused by audiences previous. So happy for him.
I’m not ashamed to say that I loved the prequel movies when I was a kid and I still love it to this day. So happy to see Hayden finally getting his flowers. ❤

2:58 the way Hayden expresses that Anakin and Vader are, to him, the same character just goes to show how much he understands the character. That Vader is just an extension to Anakin. We, of course, know this ourselves as fans but it's awesome to see the actor understanding the depth of Anakin
OMG, this is divine justice. I have been defending Hayden Christensen since the prequels came out. This really hit me after all these years. My goodness.
This was easily my highlight from all the panels, I was there and the whole venue just came to a complete standstill and everyone just focused in on making this one man feel loved and appreciated. After all he went through, its so great to see fans finally giving him the appreciation he deserves. Even me, as a tiny, tiny part of Star Wars signed 183 autographs and took countless selfies and every person I met was just SO lovely, and such an inclusive and welcoming bunch. I was overwhelmed. I can't imagine how Hayden must have felt with that amplified by thousands. Wow.
@@maitiu6802 Hayden can hardly be blamed for the writing and direction he was given - and the fan backlash against the prequels at the time was often entirely misdirected at people just trying to do their best, and and nearly ruined or even cost people their lives, Hayden included. I was talking about how lovely it was to see him being in a room surrounded by people, many of whom were kids when his movies came out, and loved them, despite what many see as flaws. As for the word "inclusive" - I was talking about the people in the audience in general. I was there as a minor Star Wars actor and met hundreds of fans, just as I have at other conventions. I was remarking over how Star Wars fans come in all shapes and sizes and from all walks of life. I never hear any negativity or predudices or disparagment because these people have different backgrounds, political beliefs or whatever. Everyone is welcome, and everybody is a friend, because they are there for their shared love of Star Wars. I wouldn't want to guess as to why the word "inclusive" bothered you so much, but why would you want to exclude any specific person from enjoying something that you also enjoy? That seems silly. the more people that support something you like, the more likely it is to continue to be successful.
That and the whole vader / anakin monologue: "I am not your failure... Obi Wan. You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, I did. The same way I will destroy you"
I also like when he was trying to convince padme to join him in overthrowing palpatine EXACTLY like how he would with Luke 20 years later! (Canonically)
At 6:03 you can hear that his voice breaks very much and he probably was close to crying. I’m so glad he was able to feel how much the fandom really loves him! I found it so sad when the interviewer asked him what the best fan reactions to him playing anakin was, and he answered with "this“. Cause he should’ve had more moments like this, he really played anakin well.
The interviewer was simply terrific. Asked the right questions, let the crowd and Hayden interact, etc. She moved the thing along very smoothly and, most importantly, she was incredibly gracious. It was so cool to see!
Seeing how beloved Hayden is by the Fandom brings warm feelings to my heart. I’m glad all of us who grew up in the 90’s and early 2000’s during the Prequel Era have finally had our voices heard: We love Hayden
Just got back from this, they didn't tell us it was hayden, they just said to random people you gotta get to the stage. Utterly magical moment, thank you celebration and hayden, such a great day
The issue was he was actually scheduled on Saturday and all of us got our spots well over an hour early waiting his appearance... you can imagine how disappointed we were after 15 minutes of delays when they eventually gave up waiting and brought out Kathleen Kennedy instead with no communication that Hayden couldn't make his spot. Bringing him out the next day felt like a real kick in the teeth for us 1 dayers 😢
When fan shouted that he loves Hayden, I just almost burst in tears. I don't have enough words to describe how happy I am to see that fans still loves Hayden Christensen.
It's a real redemption arc for him, How he went from being a hated actor to then a beloved one, Props to you Hayden for not giving up on the fandom and the franchise.
@thegentlesheepbarn3578 It wasn't necessarily poorly written, more than it was misunderstood. Besides a few lines of wooden dialogue, it's more that the character wasn't flushed out in the movies. The Clone Wars TV show came around, and George Lucas pushed his character arcs of Anakin through Dave Filoni. And now, watching the prequels people understand Anakin. That's when things started to turn around.
Imagine doing the most iconic character in movie history so brilliantly. And still being so humble and down to earth as a person. Now that's really something! We love you Hayden!!!
I can’t wait to see him in Ahsoka. A lot is happening in Ahsoka and I’m mostly excited to see him. He’s playing Vader but hope he will appear as force ghost. It would be cool to see him in a clone wars flashback too. Seeing him and Rex. More excited for Ahsoka than every other Star Wars show
I was in the crowd, cheering, yelling “Hayden”. It was a very wholesome moment, you could feel the love we were all sending him. He deserves every single bit of it!
It was a blessing and a curse to play this role for Hayden, I’m so glad he finally gets all love he really deserves! It means a lot to him, and likewise it means a lot to us!
I think he was badly-directed in "Clones". "Sith" has a better script and honestly it's a lot better-directed than Clones. And Christensen is absolutely fine in it. He looks the part, and he inhabits the character well.
I'm sure this doesn't compensate the hate he received but man I really have my eyes full of tears for all the love the fandom gives him !! It's amazing hope he can stay in the galaxy for far more time !

I'm 24, I absolutely grew up with the Hayden and Ewan being my Anakin and Obi-Wan. They performed wonderfully, I am just beyond thrilled Hayden is getting the credit he truly deserves. He made Star Wars such a big part of my life, he will forever be the face of such and iconic, beloved and tragic character. He deserves it.
People can like or dislike the prequels, but hating the actor is just wrong. He gave it his all, and we love him for the effort he put into his character. Hayden IS Anakin Skywalker.
Came back here after episode 5 of Ahsoka and this truly is special. He IS and will forever hold a special place in movie and story history across many generations. Thank you Hayden for caring so much about the character and characters past, present, and future!
Episode 5 brought out so many emotions for me, I have to watch it again to actually see it. The first time I had so many tears flowing, it was pure magic
Revenge of the Sith was the first Star Wars film I ever watched, back when I was in 4th grade. His performance as Anakin is one of the main reasons I was hooked to Star Wars ever since. I’m 29 now, and I’m so happy to still him see play Anakin. Hayden, you were always loved my friend 🙏

Hayden was criticized really hard for his acting and for awhile that's what it seemed like, that people hated the movies and the actor's performances. These days though it's a lot easier to see the fans who love this Sand hating son of a gun.
@@TheJorgeGuy i started watching sw in 2021 when i was 18 in the lockdown I watched the original trilogy first and then i was curious about Anakin's BACKSTORY and my friend told me the prequels are about him So i gave a shot and i never really found his acting weird or bad, Because that's exactly how a teenager behaves.

To millions of kids (who are now adults) he was their childhood hero as anakin skywalker, he certainly was mine, to see him come back to the franchise and play anakin again is such a great thing to see. In my opinion he played the perfect anakin, and to all of us he truly is the chosen one.
This is my favorite interview of all time . I couldn't stop crying seeing him be supported and loved after all this time. Anakin means a lot to me and I've always identified myself with the moody anxious teenage and the way he played it .

You can see he’s fighting to keep it together ….he went through such a hard time before getting the call to come back as Vader. He absolutely deserves this moment and all the love the fans are showing. The Obi-wan series wouldn’t be the same without Hayden and I’m so happy for him ❤️

I just watched the prequels for the first time a few weeks ago with my 20 year old son and was blown away by the movies. My son and I both loved them! I didn't really know anything about prequels beforehand, so I was not prepared for such an emotionally intense and heart-wrenching story. I loved how the prequels brought George Lucas' vision and story to life. Hayden Christensen was the perfect Anakin Skywalker! His acting was phenomenal. Thanks for this beautiful piece of art and culture.

It’s so glad to see him get the recognition he deserves, you can tell he didn’t at all expect such praise for a character he thought people didn’t appreciate.
Finally! Finally, this man gets the love he deserves. I recently introduced my fiancé to Star Wars and when we got to the prequels, she had the same conclusion I've had for years: the problems with those movies were not the faults of the actors. You can tell that Hayden tried his hardest to play out the character he was given, where the scripting failed he tried to make up for it with emotional expression and intensity. He didn't slack the performance or give up. His performance as an actor feels dedicated to the franchise and the character he was representing, knowing how much baggage was resting on him to portray this character. So this outpouring of love and support really brings a tear to my eye, it's so good to see.
While I totally agree with your sentiment, the script is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be, people like to act like the originals were flawless masterpieces, they both have some flaws but the pros far outweigh any of that
got into star wars because of the prequels. After RotS, the story for me ended. So am not really a SW fan. Am a fan of the prequels and of that story. It just felt sincere and unique with a Shakespearean vibes to it. And this guy nailed his character of Anakin.

You can see in his eyes how he is healing right in that moment. We all have traumas and Hayden‘s trauma about his „unsuccesful“ acting career has stuck with him for twenty years, it‘s very rarely that something like that is healed but when it happens it‘s beautiful to see ❤
Being a huge Star Wars and Canadian fan since I was 6, I can’t even imagine growing up and getting this role as Hayden did and the pressure I’m sure that came with it. You pulled it off perfectly and keep going with it. #1

@@maitiu6802 Hayden can hardly be blamed for the writing and direction he was given - and the fan backlash against the prequels at the time was often entirely misdirected at people just trying to do their best, and and nearly ruined or even cost people their lives, Hayden included. I was talking about how lovely it was to see him being in a room surrounded by people, many of whom were kids when his movies came out, and loved them, despite what many see as flaws.
As for the word "inclusive" - I was talking about the people in the audience in general. I was there as a minor Star Wars actor and met hundreds of fans, just as I have at other conventions. I was remarking over how Star Wars fans come in all shapes and sizes and from all walks of life. I never hear any negativity or predudices or disparagment because these people have different backgrounds, political beliefs or whatever. Everyone is welcome, and everybody is a friend, because they are there for their shared love of Star Wars. I wouldn't want to guess as to why the word "inclusive" bothered you so much, but why would you want to exclude any specific person from enjoying something that you also enjoy? That seems silly. the more people that support something you like, the more likely it is to continue to be successful.

At 6:03 you can hear that his voice breaks very much and he probably was close to crying. I’m so glad he was able to feel how much the fandom really loves him! I found it so sad when the interviewer asked him what the best fan reactions to him playing anakin was, and he answered with "this“. Cause he should’ve had more moments like this, he really played anakin well.
The interviewer was simply terrific. Asked the right questions, let the crowd and Hayden interact, etc. She moved the thing along very smoothly and, most importantly, she was incredibly gracious. It was so cool to see!

The issue was he was actually scheduled on Saturday and all of us got our spots well over an hour early waiting his appearance... you can imagine how disappointed we were after 15 minutes of delays when they eventually gave up waiting and brought out Kathleen Kennedy instead with no communication that Hayden couldn't make his spot. Bringing him out the next day felt like a real kick in the teeth for us 1 dayers 😢
He was so flustered by the fan reception. He deserves this love. Period.

The Clone Wars TV show came around, and George Lucas pushed his character arcs of Anakin through Dave Filoni. And now, watching the prequels people understand Anakin. That's when things started to turn around.
Hayden's arc is the exact opposite of Vader's. It's like poetry, it rhymes.

I think he was badly-directed in "Clones". "Sith" has a better script and honestly it's a lot better-directed than Clones. And Christensen is absolutely fine in it. He looks the part, and he inhabits the character well.
You can tell he was really touched, like he hasn’t gotten this and always wanted it, now he has gotten it. It’s great to see.

I'm 24, I absolutely grew up with the Hayden and Ewan being my Anakin and Obi-Wan. They performed wonderfully, I am just beyond thrilled Hayden is getting the credit he truly deserves. He made Star Wars such a big part of my life, he will forever be the face of such and iconic, beloved and tragic character. He deserves it.

Came back here after episode 5 of Ahsoka and this truly is special. He IS and will forever hold a special place in movie and story history across many generations. Thank you Hayden for caring so much about the character and characters past, present, and future!

Revenge of the Sith was the first Star Wars film I ever watched, back when I was in 4th grade. His performance as Anakin is one of the main reasons I was hooked to Star Wars ever since. I’m 29 now, and I’m so happy to still him see play Anakin. Hayden, you were always loved my friend 🙏

Finally! Finally, this man gets the love he deserves. I recently introduced my fiancé to Star Wars and when we got to the prequels, she had the same conclusion I've had for years: the problems with those movies were not the faults of the actors. You can tell that Hayden tried his hardest to play out the character he was given, where the scripting failed he tried to make up for it with emotional expression and intensity. He didn't slack the performance or give up. His performance as an actor feels dedicated to the franchise and the character he was representing, knowing how much baggage was resting on him to portray this character. So this outpouring of love and support really brings a tear to my eye, it's so good to see.
While I totally agree with your sentiment, the script is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be, people like to act like the originals were flawless masterpieces, they both have some flaws but the pros far outweigh any of that
got into star wars because of the prequels. After RotS, the story for me ended. So am not really a SW fan. Am a fan of the prequels and of that story. It just felt sincere and unique with a Shakespearean vibes to it. And this guy nailed his character of Anakin.
