    Getting cold feet. People keep saying the 250 progressive lsd is a scam. I don’t track or drift just get better tracing on launch and through 1st two gears so I don’t keep give other cars such a big head start at stop lights.

    The instructions you showed in the previous video stated 30mm gap required and 4mm off the shafts for e90 188L.

    I have been told that these E9x diffs have noise issues. My 2012 328 has developed a high pitch whine coming from the tear end. Have your heard about this and if so have you addressed a resolution for this issue ?

    Just too much time, mickey mouse engineering, and a destroyed differential. It would have been interesting just to drop-in a an assembled unit and be back on the road pronto with all the correct internal gear specifications guaranteed.
    I wonder what the mileage, lubrication and maintenance schedule on the differential was? I would inspect those shafts for scoring for sure. It would have been beneficial to drop all of this into the larger differential case as that small of a clutch surface will reach some very high temperatures if it is worked hard at all. Good luck!

      Typical answer from someone with too much money and zero interest in learning how things work.
      Dropping in an assembled unit that will probably need a refurb is probably a worse option unless it's been refurbished to a high standard at the price of potentially thousands

    Yeah how'd that work out for ya? Didn't see a video. Might have been worth it to check pinion lash and buy some tools to properly to the job. And despite what manufacturer said it basically is a phantom diff. I'm sure you made it 3 days of driving before whine or failure. Differentials are built off tight and proper tolerance for function. Didn't see much of that here.

    • @VehicularDIY
      @VehicularDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've done about 10K kms and so far yeah it's decent for what it is. It's about 50% as effective as a true LSD as it works great when the car is pointed straight, just as good as you would hope and about 50% as effective when powering through a turn.

    • @technopro-kz4xv
      @technopro-kz4xv 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it has a drain bolt, but you need to insert a hose and suck the oil with a manual pump or a vacuum canister. then, to fill it agai you just need to fill it until the diff start to spill the oil. 👍 i have an E90 with open diff and i have changed already the oil.

    • @goclunker
      @goclunker 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@technopro-kz4xv Fck that! The new owner can do that bullshit. My e36 m3 has a fill and drain bolt. e90 can blow me, not wasting all that time sucking out old fluid.
