  • Hey guys, i had to reupload this video because of copyright issues. Anyway this is a diy motor build. My main goal is to see if you can build an n54 in your own garage without being an experienced builder. Wish me luck. Also go watch my previous video to see how the motor preforms.

    Good vid. One thing I always do when rebuilding an engine though is just have a paint pen when torqueing down mains, rods, or head bolts. Just in case something happens when doing it you can easily remember where you're at still.

      A good torque wrench, torque sockets, inverted torque sockets, timing kit, front main seal tool and engine support bar. Screw drivers long/short, mostly just the basic tools. You will buy what you need along the way lol.

    Great vid man. This answered my question about what rods you went with that I posted on another video. I also went with arp but did oversized studs because the heads came that way. Curuious why you didn't go with a Schrick or Cat Cams camshaft? I was talked out of it but still wish I would have.

    nice vid ! some notes for high HP n54s taken from other peoples build experience
    *those cutring gaskets on the n54 tend to leak, stick with oem
    *9mm arp can lift the head if you run high boost - 11mm with nsl300 is the way to go or OEM
    *Pinned crankhub is a better design than friction washers.

    • @941garage
      @941garage  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Thanks for the feed back, Watch my previous video, I swapped that cutring gasket out. And yes ik I should have went with all 11mm arp studs and will be swapping those 9mm outs. As for for the crank hub I went with the VTT spline hud, works just as good as a pinned hub.

      You torque it down and then see how much it “squished” the paper he holds up to it tells him if it within spec based on how much it expanded. If it was too wide, tolerance is too tight, and vice versa
