I just got one of these for free. Was in the basement of a house I was working in amongst a bunch of other things that hadn't been used in years. I asked the homeowner if she would sell it, and she just told me to take it. Just ordered a wireless adapter for it and hoping to set it up on my PC.
Excellent!!! Its amazing to think what's out there in peoples lofts and basements, unused and unloved! Let us know how you get on with connecting to the PC.... Have you got games lined up and waiting?
I have games I want to use it on but they're mostly newer than the ones this wheel would have typically been used for. Dirt and Dirt Rally games, Grid 2, Forza etc.
Ihave had this for a couple of years and today, Nov 28th, I resolved to get the cable that connects the pedals to the wheel and found an old 15 volt transformer lying somewhere in my storage room. I traded a Wii gaming console for this xbox 360 racing wheel a couple of years ago but, since I have the Thrust Master 458 Italia Racing Wheel, I never bothered to use the Xbox 360 one. I had put it on sale and when the first person started asking some questions I noticed that it was missing the power brick and the cable that connects pedals to the wheel. It is still missing the plastic screw that goes beneath to fasten the wheel to a desk but nevertheless, I managed to get most of the parts missing. I mounted it on a wooden foldable table that I have.I couldn't sell it as it was, so I erased it from the site where I had posted it for sale. Compared to the Thrust Master 458, this one is much better( and heavier) . The loop at the base of the pedals was well thought of. It lets you anchor your heel to it so you can have better control of acceleration and braking. Also, the force-feedback characteristic let´s one feel the rough patches of the racing track, such as grass or bumps. I read on wikipedia that these units would get very hot and fail and that there was a recalling of these by Microsoft. They lost a lot of money, so I consider them a rare item to find. I am happy now with mine and I know it would be almost impossible to find the missing plastic screw that goes beneath the wheel, but at least nowadays it's more complete and working.
Good to hear that yours has been resurrected! I’d definitely recommend finding the clamp screw, having it clamped to your desk makes a big difference, in a good way! The force feedback is uncanny isn’t it? As you say, you feel the bumps and grass etc.
@@retro-unboxing It sure was. One thing to note is that the force feedback support is not present in the game. The game was released a year before the wheel. But it’s still playable and a lot fun.
