Very impressive display of engineering talent! For those who have less time and fewer tools: I bought a seat from a 2005 Scion, a Thrustmaster T150 wheel/pedal set for $149, a steel driving rig from Amazon for $89, $6 worth of fasteners and scrap lumber. I now have a driving rig with force feedback for about $300 that took 3 hours to build.

10/10 for ingenuity 10/10 for creative skills 10/10 for execution :-) Back in the days of the original playstation before there were any wheels available for consoles & well before mobile phones were even a thing, I wired a PS1 controller through a very early Thrustmaster F1 PC gaming wheel so I could play the very first Colin McRea Rally game & the original TOCA Touring Car game - it worked really well & got me a job too!
To all you guys hating on this kid, at least he took the time and effort and has knowledge that half of you can only dream of and would just go to the nearest gaming stores and pay a couple hundred dollars for one. Just because his methods of building, manufacturing, designing is different, don't give you the right to pass your two cent judgement upon people. Everyone ain't fortunate.
Mom returns home to find son has took all his brothers controllers, there wardrobes, and all the water pipes but at least he has his Racing Sim so all is good.
You are true inspiration my friend, I hope one-day you stumble upon a great innovation thatll change people's lives for the better and also make you so wealthy that you can do these kind of projects 24/7!Keep on creating!
@izsák the joysticks have both a total of 4 axis with one potentiometer for each axis. You only need one for left/right steering and then you still have 3 left for clutch, brake and gas. And you still have two potentiometers from the buttons behind the controller. You can use one of for the analog hand brake , if the game supports that shit. So you still have one potentiometer left free if needed. Then you have 10 buttons, 2 on the back and 8 on the top. That 7 buttons for 7 gears plus 2 for paddle shifters.
Apart from making my own seat from scratch I did something very similar to build myself an aircraft cockpit using the electronics of 2 joysticks. It has a Saitek Cyborg EVO without its base for the stick, the "twist" potentiometer of which is actuated by a pair of yaw pedals and the "throttle" potentiometer of which is the motorcycle-like twist grip on my collective pitch lever. The CPL in turn uses the throttle poti of the second joystick for its up and down movement, and I also have a pair of throttle levers that use the potis of the second joytick's X and Y axes. The Cyborg EVO still has all its buttons too, but the ones that used to be in the base I replaced with switches on the panel in front of me instead. The buttons and POV stick of the second joystick were replaced with those of a second Cyborg EVO's head, which sits on the end of the collective lever. In total I have 7 analog axes, 2 POV sticks (1 on the stick and 1 on the collective head) and 16 buttons / switches (6 buttons on the stick head, 4 on the collective head, 6 switches on the panel). I'm pretty sure with that thing I can fly just about any kind of aircraft / spacecraft anyone can ever come up with for a video game
by buying logitech's steering wheel, gearbox and pedals, you get a good racing experience and you also pay for the quality, i mean their gearbox is almost similar to real car's gearbox and the movements register better. This creation may have also costed more than 250 because of all that wood and the chair
Yeah this cardboard steering wheel is nothing to logitech. But still there is joy of playing with something that have built.Whether its comparable to the best or not.
Hi I saw the project and it intrigued me, I have two questions for you 1) Can it also be used on f1 2019? 2) Do you sell them? If yes, how much does it cost?
Thanks for watching, I haven't tested it yet for the f1 2019 since I didn't have the game.. but if the game support the real gaming wheel and have the option to customise the input keys. Then it shouldn't be a problem..I'm sorry, I'm not selling this device.. since making one takes a week to complete and I don't have the time to make another one..
