    No choppiness in that smooth climb out. You know, I like a cabin crew with a sense of humor ( as a means to elicit the passenger's attention ) but her delivery was nearly robotic. Loosen up, sweetheart !! Been through PHX once but with your flights, I didn't expect ( nor do I remember ) "as much" greenery in the Valley of the Sun.

    I was surprised to see you in the right side of the airplane for this flight. Having flown LAX to PHX I know that everything to see is on the left but of course I watched anyway.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually think LAX has a better view on the right side. I chose the right side for this flight because of the traffic flow at PHX. I wanted to be on the soft light side for both the takeoff and the landing. Since PHX was in a west flow, that meant sitting on the right side.

    Hey Skylight. Loved this video. Thank you. Just got your email last night. Glad to get it. On that note, and because all of my students firmly believe they know everything, and are no longer in need of what we (try to) teach them, I will be answering it very soon. Take care my friend. Talk to you soon.

    It is interesting how some pilots will explain right away why the flight has to wait to park at the gate while some pilots never bother to explain at all.

    WOWOWOWOW!!! GREAT views of Santa Monica beach!! For a minute, it looked like you were heading for New Zealand or Australia. Anyhow, it's time for me to go watch today's General Hospital. One of these days, you'll have to fly into the Port Charles airport. :)

    You should hit up some smaller airports in the regionals! Maybe something like Grand Junction, Moab Canyonlands, Flagstaff, etc! They're definitely scenic and super cool to fly to.

    Oh joy! Another overwater flight! :) Well, at least partially! Your short taxi at LAX distance-wise isn't much further than when you took off at Maui! Do the -800's have the range for mainland-Hawaii flights? Flying east,you lost an hour, don't know if the time change occurred before this flight or not--being that MCI is one of two airports to get home, I assume you continued on there, same-plane service! By the time you had wheels-off, it was dark in PHX, the daylight going rapidly. Flying from LAX, where did you come from previously?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the 800's do have the range to do west coast to Hawaii flights. In fact, various airlines have used the 700, 800, and 900 to serve Hawaii from the west coast. Untied has used all three variants, the rarest being the 700 which was only used for a short time on a short lived SNA-HNL route. Southwest and Alaska also use the 800/900 to Hawaii. Nowadays, Southwest pretty much uses only the Max 8 but I still see an occasional 800 out there. And yes, I continued on to KC. Before LAX I was at EWR. I flew EWR-LAX-PHX-MCI that day. Yes, I am crazy haha.

    Around the 10:05- 10:12 mark where you coughed, it almost seemed like the pilot had second thoughts for a second because it seemed like he almost aborted the takeoff. There was a slight hesitation.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, probably a derated takeoff and the 737 is already a notoriously slow climber. Probably had a bit of both factoring in there. Just my best guess. What I can assure you though without guessing is that was someone else coughing haha. I go through great lengths to make sure you can't hear me in any of the videos. If I have to cough, I mark down the timestamp so I can edit it out. If I left a cough of mine in, where I'm 2 inches from the microphone, it'd break your eardrums if listening with headphones 🤣
