    Coming in from the north, we pass over the Ventura coast before turning east on the downwind with LAX fully visible. Before making the final turn to the west, we pass the Los Angeles Coliseum. As we descend on final, we can see downtown, the Hollywood Hills in the distance and, just before touchdown, the famed spotting park next to THE In and Out Burger.

    This is hands down the best video I've seen, and the clearest into LAX. Kudos to you, kind sir for posting it. Great views of Ventura County: Ojai Valley, Ventura/Oxnard, Malibu Mtns then the usual east turn over the LA Basin. From the air like this, on a clear day, you can really see how huge and sprawling LA is. Second biggest city in the U.S.. Of course, the 405 North was crowded. I live in the Bay Area, born and raised. But used to love flying down there as a kid in the 80s. There was a lot more smog then though, esp. in the summers.

    The vast urban sprawl of Los Angeles always inspire during final approach.

      And how much bigger it all looked during that final descent compared to earlier when they were still over 5,000 ft up while heading eastbound and seeing LAX from there. Also cool when they then saw the stadium of the LA Raiders right before making that u-turn

    I can sit on my deck and watch them come in way to the north. Once they bank east-south-west I can watch the approach as they descend. By the time they get over my place, the landing gear is down and the engines are roaring! Thank you *Christopher Spalding* for allowing me to see this landing from another vantage point - above!

    Nice to see all the places I drive around from high up in the sky.
    At the beginning is The Ojai Valley then Ventura, Oxnard Camarillo, the conejo grade into Thousand Oaks, Westlake village, crossing the mountains into Malibu’s point Mugu, Pacific Ocean to the LA basin.

    Flew Allegiant from Bellingham, WA a couple months ago. This was the route we flew. Interesting going out over the ocean, then East, turning South and finally making the approach and landing.

    • @alvexok5523
      @alvexok5523 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is some great scenery in and around L.A., with large areas of blue ocean.
      As for landings, I've noticed that alot of flights follow the landing pattern where you fly a little ways above and past the airport, keep descending in that direction a bit further, and then make the u-turn and finish descending directly back towards the airport. It's a common descending pattern not just in L.A. but in many cities

    • @HotelSierraVictor
      @HotelSierraVictor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That's so funny because that's exactly what I think. I get a little miffed with myself because of that (and little things on other videos, like I seem to want to tilt to the left a lot.) I think I got caught up on the plane's shadow and realized after I first watched this that I could have gotten more shots of the Hollywood Hills on an absurdly clear day in the LA Basin. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    • @chairmanofrussia
      @chairmanofrussia 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Christopher Spalding No, thank you!
      I love seeing downtown, mid-city and the west side all in one shot. I wanted to see it on video more often, because most of the other videos are terrible at this. You got the best shots, despite any tilting.
