Etude is a korean brand which is why that mint eyeshadow palette is very neutral. Korean makeup never really goes more colorful than pinks, reds, and purples!
People need to remember that Etude House is a Korean brand, majority of their sales come from Korea and over there bold colours don't sell as well as they do in the West. Korean makeup is more natural than bold so its a cute palette that will sell well in Asian counties where the makeup style is similar plus it leans towards more people who enjoy natural makeup.
The mint chocolate palette is made by a Korean beauty brand that primarily sells in Korea. Which explains why it is so neutral.. color doesn’t do well in Korea and their make up style is quite different from the West.
Yes this exactly! A lot of people who are used to western makeup styles and trends don’t realize that Korean makeup brands and colours aren’t super bold and the most colourful things you’ll find are usually corals, reds and purples, I don’t blame them for not knowing trends that aren’t local but I feel like it’s something a lot of people aren’t aware about
Eye makeup is extremely minimal in Korea. It’s typically a light wash of a pink or nude shade on the lid and maybe a subtle shimmer, always with eyeliner. I feel like people forget Asian eyes and monolids are so different to that of non-Asians, so it’s difficult for us to do the same, bold eye looks.
the gilmore girls things are on point actually.... Lorelai wore baby blue eyeshadow in the early seasons, especially during winter episodes. The lilac eye pencil is the exact shade of Lane's secretly dyed hair before she reversed that to avoid her uber-religious mother's scorn. The nude, red, and pumpkin-y lip crayons represent the fall hues of the show very well, I think. Lorelai's vicious trollop lipstick moment with her waspy mom comes to mind, or her shouting for " viva glam" (the red one) before finishing her friend Sookie's make-up before her first date with Jackson, a local farmer. Also, there are several scenes referencing nail polish (red on toe nails as a sign of being a bad girl in private school, a novel scented colour being passed around during a lesson at Rory's old school, a joke by Paris about not getting dragon lady nails while Rory is her main academic rival in life). Lorelai apparently wants to be carried around a Benefit counter in her casket before she is buried. (Benefit was much better at the time, is all I can say about that.) Lane and Rory go shopping for (now discontinued) Benefit and Stila products at a beauty supply store for a bridal makeover they are doing for yet another Korean wedding at Lane's Antiques. The store is also the setting for a birthday party that Lorelai throws for Luke's kid, who then falls in love with purple glitter. Even the first scene of the pilot episode shows Lorelai carrying 2 make-up bags in her purse, containig several flavoured glosses and one colour-changing one. So, it's not a show with exttravagant make-up, rather a show with make-up and beauty products woven into the narrative as signifiers of pop culture and the seasonality of life (lip smackers as a reference to the eighties, for example, or Lorelai sniffing out Chanel No.5 and thus knowing that her mother has broken into Rory's college dorm). I do wish they had added a gloss to the collection, but other than that, it's really cool. even the daisy print is making sense. Ulta clearly had some help from a well-versed Gilmore afficionado... Wish I could get my hands on it, but I live in Europe, there's no Ulta here. excuse me while I fire up Netflix...we're getting close to fall weather, I'm about to check up on Stars Hollow (and Hogwarts!) again.
JD glow has really stunning single shadows and they’re very affordable compared to other indie single shadows. I highly recommend the shade Unexpected. Its wearable but has so much dimension.
omg yes love jd glow unexpected is one of my favorites such a beautiful shade i also love prismatic i feel like she would really love the pinks as well
Angelika has talked abt this before, Patrick star shouldn’t expect full coverage glam from rare beauty, you shouldn’t expect bright bold colours that can’t be used neutrally from a kbeauty brand
Etude being a Korean brand won't do a mint palette like we would. They have totally different expectations down there. Packaging doesn't necessarily have to reflect the shadows because the layout of the palette *looks* like an ice cream counter. The minty shimmer shade is exactly what a Korean customer would want. It's a hint or suggestion of a mint shade.
I was thinking the same before, I read the comments on the trendmood post and many of them were saying not to look at the palette by American/Western standards.
The whole Beauty blender sponge is crazy! There are so many cheaper options. The Elf sponges are really good and way less expensive. Real techniques also has a sponge that works just as well!
A lot of indie brands have suspended shipping to the UK right now and some are not shipping anywhere in the EU until the new customs system is sorted out. Sydney Grace has some of the best mattes of any indie brand and a lot more 'wearable' shades than most. If you like Viseart and ND then they are probably your best bet. Clionadh has the most vibrant black-nased multichromes with very strong shifts. Terra Moon has very smooth multi/duochromes with a very reflective metallic kind of formula. Glam Shop's holo shadows are very unique and their new pastel range is great if you don't like powdery full opacity pastels.
The Kaima chameleon flakes are amazing! You mix them with their potion and it creates a insane duochrome liquid shadow. Plus, it’s a cruelty free and British indie brand ran by a mum (Kai is the name of her son - how cute is that) 💕
Could you do a perfume collection video? I see a lot of makeup stuff but I love to learn what certain scents people like/recommend,,,especially because perfume is so expensive
Nars blushes are $30 each getting 4 of their deepest blushes in one palette for $36 was a no brained for me between that and the Pat McGrath palette they were automatic must haves for me.
Also Patrick Ta did the corresponding palette where the mattes have a shimmer. I think that one is WAY better than the one you showed in this video. It’s much more lux packaging, comes with a cream, the colours are richer and nicer and it’s just 😗👌🏼
Yes obsessed with the pat magrath palette!!! It is a must have for me!!! Bought it as soon as the VIP early access opened!!! Cant wait to get it and be able to play with it!!!!
Shine by SD cosmetics, Give me Glow, TerraMoon, JD Glow, Copacetic cosmetics, Minagerie, I have 2 large magnetic pallets FULL of singles from those brands. Shine by SD makes some amazing multi chromes, so does TerraMoon! And the prices are really good too. I think you would like any/all of those brands.
I really love Adept Cosmetics shadows but apparently they are reformulating all their singles 😢 and their shipping fees to Europe are incredible high. Id go with clionadh if you want special shades, especially their glittery multichromes are stunning and very versatile, but I love all of the shadows that I have from them
@@demi4632 maybe just to do a little pop of color if they feel brave. I just think most people don’t get Korean/Japanese make up and they get measured against west makeup style and it’s unfair…

i have an etude house palette and i love it. it's almost exclusively pinky and brown neutrals, and far from the most pigmented palette i own but that's the point. it's such a beautiful palette to just do a little thing on the eyes for everyday and go. it's not really supposed to be colourful since it's a korean brand and colour doesn't sell very well over there

I haven't had any of the glamshop palettes yet but I own their foundation, concealer, eyebrow gel, lip liner, and their jelly eyeliner in a crayon - I must say I like them all so far! I didn't like their lashes too well though, they're gigantic and too heavy for me

Their peach palette was really cute. Loved that.
Which makes sense cause mintcho is huge in Korea atm
I don’t see that mint shade being used at all in Korea if I’m being honest 😂 it’s exclusively pinks and rosie nudes.
@@demi4632 iirc, that mint glitter shade just comes out as white glitter when applied
Came here to make this exact comment lol. Plus their shadows are beautiful regardless of how basic the shades are
