I just love your family to pieces! Stoic Carson, hilarious Caleb, Tori photog extraordinaire, copilot and all around snuggly dog Charlie, bubbly ever-positive Trish, and dad joke/master of Rv parking Marc.
I'm from Muskegon and agree 100% Michigan summers are the BEST. I grew up in Tampa, but we did a lot of summer visits. We went on a family vacation about 10 years ago and it was my husbands first time there. BEST. VACATION. EVER. He said "this place is amazing!" Because it is!
Interesting to see how the end of summer was just 2 years ago. So much different than today. Never take any day for granted, and be thankful for every day that Tod allows you to wake up.
Somewhere In Time came out when I was about 9. My mother LOVED it and dragged my family to the dollar movies to see it about 15 times. I adore that movie.
We live on a large 39,000 acre lake and kept a boat at our dock for about 20 years. Both of our pups lived for the boating lifestyle and swimming in the lake. We'd take them out almost every evening after dinner, pull up on a deserted beach and play soft frisbee with them until the sun went down. Watching Charlie brought back so many memories. The look of exhausted contentment on his face with his puppy smile as he laid on the floor really triggered some flashback memories for us. Our pups have been gone now for over 15 years but naturally they are still very much in our hearts. Thankfully, we have a couple videos on our channel dating back to the early 1990s so we can enjoy their company virtually :-)
Somewhere in Time, phenomenal movie. Born and bred Michigander here! We just went full time last spring after selling our Michigan home...you sure are making me miss my home state right now. You can't beat the Great Lakes -- the entire west coast of Michigan is awesome, and Mackinac Island it unbeatable summer fun!
Hey guys, I just want to let you know how much I love you guys. If you are ever in Corpus Christi Texas, let me know. Keep on rocking and keep those wheels rolling. Take care
From a person who used to live on a lake in Michigan I can say that yes. June, July and August are wonderful in Michigan. But now I prefer Phoenix and NO SNOW. Michigan is a great state to visit in summer!
Marc: A hint I can give you, from a truck driver of 40 plus years. This may not make sense at first, but drive the trailer. You want to make your turns so the trailer takes the path that will clear your obstacles, even if your truck will not. Once your truck can not proceed, you will stop and jack knife back to get the truck to clear. The one thing you need to worry about, is your trailers axles are half way up your trailer, effectively making your trailer track like a much shorter trailer, but then you will have to worry about your tail swing. This means that you should never pull really close to something and pull away quickly causing your tail swing to impact that obstacle. If I need to elaborate more to make it clear what I am trying to get across, feel free to contact me for elaboration. A friendly hint to help you and anyone else that is just experiencing larger rigs than they are use to. John
This was the best episode I've seen...love the ending. It shows how powerful good friends can be. Please keep up the great teaching moments. But now I am getting worried about trying this alone with backing up and getting into spots. I'm hoping that only having the 34' Solitude with the F-450 will be doable. Thank you to all your family for a most enjoyable live look into the RVing world.
My wife is from Michigan. When we go to Michigan we stay with family, have a home on Torch Lake (beautiful lake) and stay at Grand Traverse Resort. Not far from Gran Traverse we rent jet ski's. The lake is always cold but fun. Great family video and glad you guys had a great time in Michigan.
My wife Ruth and I went to Mackinaw Island in May of 1982 with another couple. We met up with another couple who lived in Mackinaw City. Our friend from Mackinaw City was a MI State Park Ranger and he was in charge of the state property on Mackinaw Island. It was one of the best times ever. After that we discovered Somewhere in Time and it became one of our favorite movies which we watched several times. Such great memories. Thank you for sharing, Paul E Dulin from Texas.
I loved that movie. Somewhere in time. The grand hotel was beautiful. We go to mackinac island every year It’s such a quaint little island. So much fun to be there.
I had to comment on a few things. I am a boater located in Wisconsin with a dream of eventually living on the boat in the summers, and an RV in the winters. 1) I cross the lake to Grand Haven each summer (4-hour crossing)- grab a wet burrito at Tip-A-Few. IYKYK. 2) I am starting to realize RVing is like Boating in the respect that docking is the worst 10 minutes of boating and it’s basically the same as first entering a campsite. 3) you got lucky with the waves on Lake Michigan that day. Last time I left Grand Haven we encountered 10 foot waves - seriously, 10 footers. Luckily our boat could handle them - barely. 4) I grew up in Michigan. My mom made me watch Somewhere In Time 200 times growing up… 😂 5)I love your channel. The RV in this video is what I’m leaning towards. Thank you!
Another fun video. We go to Michigan from Illinois several times a year. Seeing that light house is awesome. You should see it in winter, when it's covered in ICE. Glad your having so much fun. Take care and be safe.
Grew up in Michigan and was lucky enough to have a cottage on Lake Huron. Michigan is indeed special in the summertime. Another great video, thanks. Marc you make driving that rig look easy. You and Trish make a good team.
Great job Marc and Trish, this is where I'm thankful for the 10 yrs of driving an 18 wheeler come in. I was laughing right along with y'all, great video.
As an Arizona boy now living in Ohio I truly love taking my trailer up to Lake Erie and making memories with the family. I just found your channel and you guys are right if you try to wait to afford the perfect setup you never will do it. We are happy with our rig and the memories we are making.
Hitch up at an angle on the opposite side of the obstacle and when you pull out the rig will go opposite before following you around. Hope that makes sense
I agree. Just be sure not to hitch up at TOO much of an angle or the tail swing from the 5'er will be a problem with the RV next door. But yes, you've got the right idea.
I started watching you guys when you picked up the 5th wheel. Fell in love with your family. I just finished watching season 1. You guys are amazing and made my wife's and I decision to get a pop up camper so much easier!
Wow... I just watched every episode of KYD over the last two weeks! I’m hooked. Awesome videos and amazing message. I think Alaska is my favorite season but I really loved them all.
We are originally from Muskegon Michigan which is 20 miles north of Grand Haven. In fact, I used to work in Grand Haven. Enjoying our South Florida life now but still miss the life we had in Michigan. Everything is a compromise. Cheers!
I was so engrossed in catching snippets of Somewhere in Time that I missed that it was the end of the episode. I thought my internet had cut out. Another episode that ended too quickly because I enjoyed it so much.
I miss Michigan in the summer! My home state. Now in Texas. Mark you handle that rig incredibly well. Trish I totally agree with you about Michigan. Good times!!!👍safe travels!!!😊🌻
Another great summer vacation video. You guys really do have some great family and friends. Charlie is getting so big now. Marc, you are really getting good at driving that 5th wheel.
I was like 3 hours from Grand Haven, I grow up in Traverse City, Mi, but moved out to Nevada about 6 years ago. I will only go back to Michigan for a visit now.
Wow, you always impress me with your skills Marc! That was a tight place to pull out of, but you did it and it went so smooth because you and Trish make a great team with each other. Loved the lake visit, beautiful area and looked like lots of fun and memories with friends - you just can't beat that! As always, I find myself looking forward to the next episode. Hugs, Brenda
What a great video!!!Can't get over how Mark handled that rig!! We have a travel trailer and it takes us forever to get into a spot!! LOL. Such wonderful friends you have and such a beautiful property. Great to see Charlie swimming jus like your former dog..Thanks for such an entertaining video!!
Love y'all's videos when all the kids are there playing with Charlie (well, you're missing one kid but you know what I mean). It's just so nice seeing the love between family and friends. I think Charlie mighta been a little pooped after his boat outing and swim. HAHAHA. I have a couple of favorite channels but gotta say that I think KYD is at the top of my list every week; always look forward to the release of your next video. Entertaining, good editing, family values, good info... I mean, really, what more could I want? Oh and... Caleb's "It's how I hide my tears"! Priceless. Safe travels, y'all!
I have the DVD of Somewhere In Time... LOVE Mackinac Island and live in Traverse City, MI... Bucket list is to go to the Island during Lilac Festival as they have 150 different varieties. We have gone to the Island many many times... I absolutely LOVE the Island! Riding the bikes and stopping for Ice Cream half way around is always super fun! Touring the Island on a carriage is really cool too!
I always look forward to Sunday night know KYD video will be ready for some get RV family viewing. Enjoyed watching Charlie have some good ole dog fun to boot.
This is so awesome. My wife and I watch your channel. I have a whole list of things you guys should visit this season. My in-laws live in Muskegon, MI. That whole coast has so many awesome things to do. Have your friends show you duck lake, and the block house that is near to there.
You are one skilled driver young man! Also fortunate to have such a wonderful family. Soak up all this time with the boys, it will be gone before you know it. Be well.
Phew! That was a squeeze out of Grand Haven. What a squeaker getting through the arch! Enjoy Michigan. It’s a beautiful state this time of year: May through September. After the leaves turn? Not so much. I’m so glad you’re going to Mackinaw/Mackinac. Check out the Leelanaw Peninsula, too.
Onaway Michigan has cheese curds.. my favorite since I was a kid.. not that far from Mackinaw.. The Grand hotel used to let you walk the grounds and go on the porch and in the lobby before “Somewhere in Time” was shot there and made it a very popular place.. You really need to go see the upper peninsula while you are in Michigan.
Cheese curds? When you were in Elkhart IN you were about 30 minutes away from Heritage Ridge Creamery in Middlebury. Everytime I go to that area I load up on the curds and swiss. The also have a huge variety of other cheeses and Amish butter also. All made onsite with local milk.
Somewhere in time is a claissc. I fell in love with Jane Seymour watching thia movie. My wifw still talks about it like we saw it yesterday. We saw it in the 80's. The Music is the best romance music around. Machinac Island is also to die for. Went there in 2003. Fabulous!
You do a great job manuvering your rig Mark. Glad you're enjoying your time up in Michigan. The only time I go back home to visit is during the summer. I stay in Florida otherwise. Put Michigan in my rearview when I turned 18. Thanks for sharing your travels. I totally enjoy watching.
You talked about getting good cheese curds, we've got the best here in Oregon with the Tillamook cheese factory right on the coast! I'm in Eastern Oregon, (The desert side) but we've got' lots of good camping on this side of the state too! Then you could make a great trip to our great coast!
I grew up here! Spring Lake High School graduating class of 1986! ~ I hope you guys got to experience Ray's Beef Burgers, and Pronto Pups on the Channel. It's nice to see the old hometown from the water.
Great video! Awesome footage of you all going through Spring Lake to the Grand River and out to Lake Michigan. Haven't made that trek in many, many years, so it brought back some good memories. Thank you 🙂
Michigander here for first 18 years of my life! Thanks for sharing! I miss the green grass, pine trees, lakes, family. Oh another thing up by Mackinaw besides the delicious fudge is Pasties. Stay Safe
Great video as usual. 👍🏻 That Caleb cracks us up! I’m sure there’s never a dull moment with him around. We also use our cellphones for navigating. However, while my iPhone is in the truck via Bluetooth, I am forced to use Tony’s FLIP PHONE ☎️!! Do you know how embarrassing that is?!?!?! 😩 LOL!! 😜😂 Charlie reminds us so much of our Goldens, Lady and Brandy. They always “talked” whenever they had their toys in their mouths, too. We miss not having a dog 😢 but seeing Charlie gives us the puppy fix we need. 🐾 ❤️ The Cooper’s home is stunning as are all the homes along the water!! We’re glad you enjoyed your time in Michigan. Who’s up for another Michigan Camp KYD in 2020? We are!! Thanks once again for sharing our beautiful state with the KYD community. It truly is “Pure Michigan”!! Safe travels and happy camping! Your videos fly by! I am so entertained the whole time and I so look forward to Sunday night. This was soo good. I love lakes in the summer (from Indianapolis) and this video really takes me back...love it. Many thanks. See you next week.
I remember my Literature teacher having us watch Somewhere in Time in class my sophomore year (1991). Always thought it was a great movie and the theme song sticks in your head.
My wife and I just returned yesterday from pulling our camper up to Mackinaw City and spending a week there, (and at the Mackinaw City KOA!!) Anxious to see next week's episode, as we had an amazing time, and hope you all did too!!
Boss of the RV!! Wow - impressive maneuvering there!! Somewhere in Time is a favorite and I also want to go to Mackinac Island because of the movie - almost 40 years later. So sad what happened to Christopher Reeve.
I have personally watched "Somewhere In Time" at least 8 times. It is definitely my favorite tear jerker ever! I heard you were in the West Allis State Fair RV Park where I am now. Wished I could of connected with you guys. Maybe somewhere in time down the road,......
I just love your family to pieces! Stoic Carson, hilarious Caleb, Tori photog extraordinaire, copilot and all around snuggly dog Charlie, bubbly ever-positive Trish, and dad joke/master of Rv parking Marc.

Caleb is hysterical, I laugh out loud every time I watch him. 💙
I like when you guys go to Michigan too. It’s fun to see you enjoying life with your friends In Michigan.

My first trip to grand Haven Michigan 1971. And have been back several times. I got a lot of family lives in that area.

That home on the lake was so beautiful. Charlie looked like he had a blast there.
Looks like Charlie had a long fantastic day.
Oh wow....watched somewhere in time when it first came out....by mistake! And loved it!
One of my favorite movies is "Somewhere In Time." Enjoy your visit. Good blessings to you all.
Caleb had me in tears, love the channel it gets better every season. Been watching since the beginning.
He definitely has a good sense of humor.

You have some of the best videos. Between the scenery and the music, they're top notch!
We held our breaths on that pull-out. Nice bit of driving teamwork.
Nothing better than a Michigan summer....

Wow got to love that turn radius of the F450😮. That Caleb kills me every time 😂😂😂.

I always love seeing your adventures. I must admit that I now look for glimpses of Charlie. I think you need a secondary vlog..."The Charlie Show"
Michigan is so beautiful......in the Summer.
Can’t wait to see video on Mackinac, one if my my favorite places! Trish, loved your blue and white tank top!
The video is 33 min. People have been asking for a longer video. We had so much fun there. Top 5 destinations since we started.
Keep Your Daydream can’t wait to watch it! We are lucky enough to live close enough to visit the island every summer
I have personally watched "Somewhere In Time" at least 8 times. It is definitely my favorite tear jerker ever! I heard you were in the West Allis State Fair RV Park where I am now. Wished I could of connected with you guys. Maybe somewhere in time down the road,......
Probably my favorite episode!
