In the trucking world the most useful acronym is G O A L. When in doubt, Get Out And Look! The communication you two have with each other is priceless. Love you guys. Safe travels.
I had to pause for a minute when Trish got emotional about the military family as I got emotional too. Thanks for that as my family is a military family. Your appreciation and recognition of their sacrifice was so touching. And thank you for these awesome videos that not only give us tips on how to have this adventure but inspire us to DO it!
One of the things we insisted on many years ago: NOBODY helps move the rig unless they have full financial responsibility. No exceptions. And you’re spot-on: somebody trying to “help” will just say, “oh, sorry about that” and you’ll still have to get any damages sorted yourself.
You guys made some great points!! Thank you!! Trish made me cry with the military mom!! You are right, they don't get enough recognition for all they do for all of us!!!!🧡💙💜❤
Love you and your family. Thank you so much Trish for such a heartfelt moment. As a veteran myself from a long line of veterans, it means the world to see people such as yourself get so emotional when they see families trying to carry on as best as they can while one is deployed.
There was something beautiful in this episode that i have to recognize . You took the time to call out how you respect and communicate with one another and how you fail at it on occasion. An absolutely stunning display of marriage that I hope doesn’t go unnoticed by all that see this.
Keep Your Daydream Trish you have such a big heart I got emotional when you got emotional, my husband and I just got back from a camping trip, we watch you guys everyweek
Made me cry too. 25 years army wife, he is retiring next year and we bought an RV this year to live in on base and save up for a year trip around the U.S. next year with our kids. Started searching for families doing this and came across you guys. Have been binge watching you when I can with the family. We love your fun family!
Ok, first to address the elephant in the room. Your boys are a total crack up!!! Second of all, i hope you guys realize what an impact you are making on thousands of lives with your show and travels. You guys have that personality and ability to make people happy and feel good about themselves. Keep it up and dont forget to refill your fresh water tanks.... :)
Yet another great video I love the energy you guys bring to your videos ! Also loved the way Trish was so moved over the military Mom and how she was keeping the family together as the son of a Mother who did the same when my father was deployed in Vietnam all I can say is ❤️❤️❤️☺️ Mom is in a nursing home now with dimentia sometimes she doesn’t remember who I am I visit her everyday because I still remember who she is and everything that she did for me and my two brothers ❤️ you have a sweet heart Trish
Thank you for the nod and appreciation of military families. I empty nested our home got our kids to college while husband served. He is now Retired Col. With 32 yrs of service. Charlie is adorable.
Thank you so much. I am a military spouse of 31 years and it means so much that you recognized her service and her children’s service as well. Thank you!
I’m binge watching your videos tonight because I just said goodbye to my 21 year old daughter who flew to Germany for three years. She’s a Military Police Officer in the Army and I’m so proud of her. I’m a single, 59 year old mom and I miss her so much. I’m also proud of myself because I raised her by myself and she’s amazing. Your videos are keeping me sane right now! Trish…thank you for your comments regarding those who serve our country and their families. That was so nice to hear, especially right now. ❤️❤️
I appreciate your acknowledgment of military spouses, they also serve. I did 21 years in the Navy and when I left on my last deployment to Somalia my wife had a 5 yr old and a baby in a carrier to raise while she also ran a successful daycare and preschool. Our boys grew up with us doing a lot of tent camping in the southwest. They are both merchant sailors now and leave their families on a regular basis. I enjoy watching your adventures, thank you for sharing.
Hello, I just wanted to say thank you for mentioning military families in this video! I am currently deployed overseas in the Middle East and my wife is at home taking care of our 2 children. It made my day when Trish was talking about it! Keep up the great videos
When Tricia cried, I cried. You are right, our military and their families don't get enough credit! Always love your videos. I just bought my first RV - Vanleigh 360RL and I named her Lucille. Your tips are priceless for a newbie.
Just love you guys, Especially thank you for thinking of the Military and commenting. As A retired Air Force guy, we could never survive without a strong "besets-half" at home. thank you for bringing a smile to my life
Thank you Trish. We are an active duty Army family. We got our first camper this May and I have taken my kids (grandma too) on several camping trips with out my husband. We miss him but still have fun camping. Thank you for your video's I enjoy watching.
Awesome video and I agree. Props to our Military and Veterans. They do not get enough credit for their sacrifice and the sacrifices the families make. Thanks to them all for their service.
Man that meetup looked like so much fun. Everyone looked like they all got along because they were all KYD family. Boy Charlie is getting big and your boys are amazing. Very well brought up. You should be proud. Cheers!!!
Skyline Chili...a Cincinnati institution! 16:56 If you ever get back around the Cincinnati area, definitely stop into a Skyline Chili restaurant and give a fresh plate of it a try. I recommend the 5 way...with extra cheese. Refresh your cheese 1/2 way through your meal.
Great video! Love the way you spoke about only trusting your partner and not the strangers who may not know anything about a RV. Charlie is so cute! Thanks for sharing you guys!
My husband and I are learning this. We were driving to Gettysburg and got detoured into a small town. I am still not entirely comfortable with all, the sounds of towing but heard a weird tapping thudding noise. I told my husband but he thought it was just the road. Remembering our agreement, “if either of us feels like somethings not right, we pull over to check” he pulled over. After the both of us checking around the rig and not finding anything we started to get back in and that’s when we heard it- the loud hiss of air escaping! We had run over a 3/4” lag bolt that rammed its way into our truck tire. 😣 We were able to change the tire and get back on the road. But listening to each other and trusting each other has been crucial!
How crazy it is to watch these videos from 1 year ago, and the world has since turned upside-down 😳 sad. No more big groups of happy people meeting up and enjoying time, laughter and food with one another. Hope we can return to that sooner than later. My husband and I are finally prepping to buy our first camper, loving your videos, they are so helpful and informative!!!! Thank you 😀
Started off watching your videos for the RV tips, now I watch your videos for marriage communication tips. Thanks for setting an example of what respectful communication can look like!
Thank you for your recognization for military families. My dad did 3 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and he unfortunately passed away last month at a very young age of 59.
So sorry to hear that James! A Canadian here...yet I still have SO much respect for military individuals and veterans! 59 is far too young....so much life yet to live....condolences to you and your family!
You folks are truly an inspiration to our family. In fact you have inspired us enough to go full time! We have started the process of finding the right floor plan. We have started a channel to follow our change over. We love following you to keep our momentum... no pun intended... moving forward with our decision.
You are exactly right about military families that don't get enough credit. It is a hard lifestyle and we should be supporting them much more than we do. Kudos to the families that make the most of it and raise their children with love. They sacrifice everything for our country. Thank you for speaking about that. Made me cry but still , thank you.
The pole hierarchy is from bottom- phone, cable, power. So now you know why you need second set of eyes. And smart thinking to set up to leave now. No headaches and elbow room. Nicely done - done nicely!
I had the privilege to be an Army wife and Army veteran. God bless our United States 🇺🇸 Armed Forces! Hoorahh!! Now full-timing in our RV, in part because of your encouragement. Love ya’ll. Keep up your excellent work and be safe out there on the road.
This has got to be my most favorite episode yet !! I was terrified, relieved, excited, nostalgic seeing Grand Ginger, LOVED seeing how beautiful Charlie is getting, ( you know your bed is his now, lol) cryed when you talked about the military mama with the kids( I'm an AF brat) and laughed with crazy watermelon mouth Caleb, and was so proud of Carson stepping up on the water recovery ! So many emotions on one episode ! Absolutely my favorite episode EVER !!! GOD BLESS YOU ! You made an old ladies day today 💕
Ha something similar happened to my husband and I while leaving a campground; actually our first RV trip. He was driving, I was outside directing. I knew he couldn't make the turn and had him back up. Tried again, just not enough room. Two guys came over and tried to help telling him to keep going he was fine and when I spoke up one shouted at me, "Who is doing the directing here?" and then continued to tell him to go. I shouted so loudly for him to stop because had he gone forward he would have ripped off the back left side of the RV. We ended up having to back it all the way out. Thanks for all of your help and advice and great videos. You're so much fun and such a great resource as well.
What a great one! From beginning to end. Hit every emotion tonight!! My goodness! It's so important you said exclusively, and you both were in sync. I agree wholeheartedly, good point our families serving need more support! Charlie, you are so adorable! This was a great one! 😁
Military spouses are the back bone to those who serve our country. So when we thank a vet for their service, never forget the sacrifices their spouses make to support those that serve. Nice Job!!!
Coming from a Army Infantry Veteran, Thank you for your support for military families. Not only is it hard for us to leave for training or a deployment but it's really hard for our families as well. Great video by the way
I will always trust others until they prove otherwise. Some give off a vibe not to be trusted but I will give most people the benefit of the doubt. And it has made all the difference, I am better for it, and many great memories from starting from a place of trust.
The same thing happened to us! A dump truck took out a wire and we did not see it and drove on as all these other vehicles were pulled along the side of the road. We snagged the wire on or AC unit and dislodged it. Everyone was yelling at us not to get out of the RV for fear of getting electrocuted. Turns out it was a phone line and it was taken off the top safely and we drove on but had to find a place that could do an emergency fix, re-seating the AC with new bolts. The old ones were bent pretty badly and we could see the sky through the roof. We got it done and moved on down the road.
I can’t tell you how many times I wish I could see the clearance on top of our RV as we go through cities as we drive pass trees, wires, etc. on the plus side you now know the air conditioner is not leaking with all that rain. Save travels
Glad you and your rig are OK. I learned 4 years ago to follow the “suggestion” printed on many truckers mirrors GOAL. Get Out And Look has become my motto. Also, your advice to listen to your partner. Absolutely. Thanks for what you do. Great video.
My answer is twofold. First, I challenge you research history to find the answers to your question. Either we learn from history or we are doomed to repeat it. Second, our strong military protects this country, our allies, and even our enemies from world war 3, or anything like it. Look back to the basic ideal that founded this country...citizens wanting representation (a say) in what taxes they were required to pay to a money hungry king. Look back at Hitler and the power he gained in his own country and then attempted to expand through Europe. PS- If we lived in some of the dictator run countries that exist we would have limited access to the internet, if any, and possibly no opportunity to see anything on YT. Don't take freedom for granted. Our military protects it for you too.
We dry camp a lot. I have a 30 gal RV tank I keep in the back of the truck with a spare 12v pump that I can drive to the water fill and them pump into the tank. Works like a charm
What you do is install "Tubes" from front to back just a little higher than the highest point on your roof. Like a luggage rack but without the inside support . Any wire will slide right over the Air, TV antenna etc.
Hey TRISH I understand not wanting to cry, but thank you for sharing your heart. This video has it all; quiet intensity with the telephone pole, kind emotion for military families, and goofy boys. Oh and bonuse sweet sneaky Charlie on the bed. 😊❤🐶
Great video. We love your channel. We are empty-nesters and planning our RV life in 2 years. And we live just down the road from Fennville. Awesome to see you here. We will be looking for you down the road. Thanks for everything you do.
Great video. Thanks for all the feels on military families. I was raised by my mother mostly since my dad was in vietnam and tdy's. I started my family while I was enlisted in the Air Force. We always went camping the rough way. No services, just you, a tent and sleeping bag and of course a chuck box. Yes, those who recognize the term can guess right, I am an Eagle Scout. KYD!
As a trucker Mark we are taught to GOAL. Get out and look. Like you said, so many drivers dont realize you are both low and high. I've been backed into a build because a manager at a Kroger store never looked at my 13'6. He just looked at my side view. I learned that lesson 20 years ago.
Oh my word, I just went from crying after hearing about the military mom to dying laughing with Caleb and his little stunt....he is made for T.V. !!!! You all are addictive 🥰
Us car haulers us hight-sticks to check the height of the load after we put the cars on the trailer. Their fiberglass, so no worries about hydro. I'd recommend getting one of those.
I love to watch. I can’t relate to the camper. We still pitch a tent every where we go which almost always includes the mountains. The things that happen on the trip and family interactions you show keeps me on vacation between my vacations. Thank you for posting!
My wife and I are still working on our RV communication, but I trust her judgement, she’s very good at immediately analyzing a situation. By the way, we love your videos, they are informative and highly entertaining
OMG! I've never seen anything like that. I drove an 18 wheeler with a high box 45 foot long trailer. 1 million miles of smiles. Thankfully I never hit anything. Very short old train bridges on the east coast. I've had to turn around a few times. Good for you all! Always trust your own judgement!
I can appreciate what you went through getting hung up on the electrical wires. I started driving a semi log truck when I was 18. I obviously lacked any experience back then and I got hung up on wires twice in one week. Fortunately they were in 2 different states but watching clearance is pretty much ingrained now.
I drive Prevost tour buses for celebrities for the last 20 years. I have CDL A. You might want to add a wireless camera on the very front looking forward and to the rear of your 5th wheel. We have them on the buses and it works great for the questionable moments.
Thanks, guys! Having moved from Grand Haven to Mexico, this video helped soothe my homesickness. :) Sure miss family, friends, and the big water of Lake Michigan, but looking forward to meeting up soon with some near Bucerias & Sayulito. Thanks!
The KYD camping looks so much fun! Trish made me tear up with the Military Mom. 😢😊 And how could you not laugh everyday with those two boys of yours?!!! I love seeing them and their antics!❤
This is exactly what KYD is to me. A military wife making memories for her to boys. To be at two different meet ups of KYD, Trish & Mark you should be so proud of yourself’s to bring this community of KYD together. God Bless all the military families out there!
I was laughing at the boys. It is so hard not to laugh it our girls when they do stuff that is so outrageous. So glad y'all didn't have any injuries damage from the electrical line. My heart drop when I say y'alls thumbnail.
My daughter is married to a military pilot. USAF. He’s been deployed overseas for a year! But she has made sure her daughter (my granddaughter) has not missed a thing! They bought a pony and a horse trailer and they’ve loaded up the dog and are traveling to horse shows! Camping along the way! Our military families give up a LOT and it’s really hard. But our family sees those opportunities as blessings!
Holly crap! When my wife and I are driving in our RV she's my guy! My eyes and ears, the one and only I listen to. Enjoy your wine you certainly earned it this trip! Side note, glad you made it to Michigan.
This military family thanks you for making a tribute to the military mom and her children. I was happy to see your rig was not damaged it the powerline incident. Y'all be safe, and have fun. Quick question, did you make it up to the UP of Michigan?
Thanks for the great lessons!! We love you guys, you are such a wonderful family. Caleb keeps us laughing, he really needs to be part of the Disney family of entertainment! Your sons are amazing! Nice to see how they come together to help out!! Hugs and Kisses for the pup!!
If I may make a suggestion, you should come up with some type of telescopic locking pole, put a heavy rubber insulated grip on it and a V notch on the other end that you can use if you encounter a low line or wire so you can use it to try and push the wire up to try and help you clear it. you can also purchase a pair of insulated gloves for additional protection from a power line. Here's one thing to keep in mind though. In most cases the power lines are going to be the ones all the way at the top of the pole. The lower ones, the ones you are most likely to get caught on, are usually either phone lines or cable lines (as in cable TV.) They won't bite you. You can look at the line and see where they lead. If it leads to a transformer on a pole, it's most likely a power line. But that's why I suggest putting a heavy non-conductive rubber grip on the pole and getting heavy duty non-conductive gloves in case you have to deal with those too. And another thing to do is put side rails along the length of both sides of the roof that are higher than the highest object on the roof of the trailer. Then you could use the pole if needed to lift the wire and let it lay on the rails and it would safely slide along the rails and drop off of the back. I used to drive 18 wheelers years ago. I had such a pole for this reason. The only difference is those trailers don't usually have all of the stuff on the roof like your camper does.
Hi Hey on your water supply I would suggest doing like I did I went to tractor supply store and bought a 100 gallon tank and a transfer pump I put the tank up at the front of the bed in truck. I need the transfer pump cause it’s the only way I have to get the water in the holding tank. It works great.
Good advice on this video. Only the two of you are to communicate. We use walkie talkies and sometimes our phones with one person outside. We know our height limitations on our rig and are very aware of low lines, branches, bridges and overpasses. We have had to exit the highway a few times because an overpass was an inch lower than our height. Glad the overpass was marked. You could install one of those fiberglass whip rods on the front of your truck with the length set at the height of your rig. Like the ones on the vehicles riding ahead of semis with wide, large loads. It would take a lot of guess work out of it.
Wow, That could have been so much worse. A huge bullet dodged. An enormous THANK YOU to all those who serve and for the families they leave behind to carry on. Charlie is such a beautiful addition to the KYD crew. That's our Bailey (at 6 weeks) in my profile pic.
I've been thinking of a better mirror for towing. Have another little mirror on the top of main mirror (like the blind spot mirror), but so you can adjust to see the top of what you're towing. Be helpful for these scenarios, or so you don't hit over hangs and such.
WOWSER! Certainly covered a lot on this one. It made me think about my hesitation to act immediately when Sue says STOP. I will be better about that after seeing this. Thanks
You guys make me feel so welcomed in your lives, I feel like I am there visiting with each video I see (I’ve been binge watching for 3 weeks now lol 😂)! Y’all’s videos got me to get myself a trailer and hit the road after 15 years from the last time I RVd. I purchased the RV after following your advice and not settling on a trailer, but getting the floor plan and even the color scheme inside. Thank you for all you do to inform and entertain! I am excited to try being a KYD Insider soon and start new adventures, travel new paths, create memories along our journey. G-d bless and safe travels!
your videos are wonderful...i could watch your adventures for hours. your interaction with each other is truly great. take care love from Manchester UK xxxx
If you ever get the chance, visit and camp in the the better half of Michigan (the U.P.). My dad spent twenty years stationed at an Air Force Base UP there. Thanks for remembering our military families.
Thank you for all of your informative and entertaining videos. I started watching your videos when we bought our 5th wheel (Grand Designs 230RL) in 2018. This summer we did a 78 day Alaska trip. Definitely a summer to remember - spectacular trip! Your Alaska videos were priceless. I refer everyone to your site for info. My husband thinks I have 2 new friends since I frequently say “Marc and Trish said they do this.” I always learn something new from each video - like the siphoning thing - haven’t had to do that - but good to know. Keep up the great work!
Another handy thing about that wet bay (if it's the one I think it is), you can take the coiled spray hose and connect it to your black tank flush system and use the water from your tank instead of having to run a hose at a rest stop or campsite.
Welcome to Michigan as the saying goes if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes, just went down the Grand River to Grand Haven today. Great way to see it.

Shout out to all the firemen and women out there that are always helpful and putting their life on the line for us 👏👏❤️❤️😍😍😇😇
The crazy kids are what makes it the most memorable journeys. Congratulations!!!

So proud of your son the way he took control of the water situation as i know you are.
Maine...spring is around 8am, summer by 10:30am, fall is around 2pm and winter is 4:30ish....yup. We can relate to the weather you had there.
None of us would be free to do what we do without our military families. Thanks for recognizing them. 🇺🇲
Ret Navy. I’m playing catch-up. I’m just blessed to be home and with family.

Welcome home and Thank you for your service.
Thank you for serving us and your country. Well deserved welcome home, you more than deserve it!
Mee too. No joke.
Glad all is safe! Your family is a delight to watch! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for mentioning military families! Army / Air Force family here. Military spouses deserve just as much respect as the ones serving!
Thanks!
Beautiful trip! Love to see you guys in Michigan.
The KYD camping looks so much fun! Trish made me tear up with the Military Mom. 😢😊 And how could you not laugh everyday with those two boys of yours?!!! I love seeing them and their antics!❤
Trish you made me cry! 20 year navy wife!❤️
Me too! Cried like a baby. 21 years Army wife. Many deployments and many years apart but now we are fulltime and making up for all the lost time.
GO NAVY!!!!!!
I cried also. I am a Navy Daughter and was a Army wife. Our son in law is a disabled Iraqi Army Vet.
This is exactly what KYD is to me.
A military wife making memories for her to boys. To be at two different meet ups of KYD,
Trish & Mark you should be so proud of yourself’s to bring this community of KYD together.
Quick question, did you make it up to the UP of Michigan?
phone line and cable tv USAF retired Santa
Thanks for the great lessons!! We love you guys, you are such a wonderful family. Caleb keeps us laughing, he really needs to be part of the Disney family of entertainment! Your sons are amazing! Nice to see how they come together to help out!! Hugs and Kisses for the pup!!
You guys are such an inspiration and truly a gift to millions of people thank you! Be safe!
Yall always put out quality videos. But this has got to be one of the best yet. Thank you for letting us share a bit of the journey with you.
👍great information!!! Glad everything turned out good! Safe travels!😊 Loved the Michigan camping part of this video! Caleb is a hoot!!!🤣
Mark I saw your Blackstone and it reminded me where I just got my lid in from Amazon for my 17” Blackstone grill. It was very easy to put on.
Thanks for sharing again. Glad you're back to camping videos. Great point on trusting your mate.
Don't worry. Lots of travel videos to come this season.
Wow, That could have been so much worse. A huge bullet dodged. An enormous THANK YOU to all those who serve and for the families they leave behind to carry on.
Charlie is such a beautiful addition to the KYD crew. That's our Bailey (at 6 weeks) in my profile pic.
You guys are such a great team. You really set a great example of the right way to work together. Thank you!
I've been thinking of a better mirror for towing. Have another little mirror on the top of main mirror (like the blind spot mirror), but so you can adjust to see the top of what you're towing. Be helpful for these scenarios, or so you don't hit over hangs and such.
Fantastic and LOADS of fun! Thanks for beautiful family and making these great videos you share. Save travels.
"safe"
WOWSER! Certainly covered a lot on this one. It made me think about my hesitation to act immediately when Sue says STOP. I will be better about that after seeing this. Thanks
I make the same mistake. I *think* I know why she is telling me to stop and sometimes don't. Not anymore.
I highly recommend you guys to By a Rand McNally 740GPS truck GPS make sure you hook it up right away too wifi too update the unit
Caleb is a crack up. That is cool about getting the rain water.
17:00...Cincinnati style chili. Oh yeah, it's a thing. You either love it or you hate it. Me, I love it! Great video as always!
Good communication and team work makes a a big difference.Understatement you and you alone know your rig.
Welcome to Michigan as the saying goes if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes, just went down the Grand River to Grand Haven today. Great way to see it.
