Oh yes thank you for reminding me I was going to say thank you for sharing his story and if he gets on here at all thank you for raising awareness to this epidemic. My cousin, my mom's nephew was a veteran of the Iraq war and he survived to make it back to the states but lost his life to suicide 2 years ago.

First time seeing your channel and new subbie. I was born and raised in Michigan. Parents had a 2nd home on a lake. Moved out of state when I was 18 and many, many years later I am wanting to move back to MI one day.. I really miss it. Such fond memories of taking the ferry boat to Mackinaw island, eating fudge, the Grand Hotel etc. People are so nice and friendly in Michigan. So cool to include that guy for the suicide awareness. Praise God for his journey. Thanks for sharing your trip.

We road our first tandem bicycle on Mackinaw Island. 10 years later we purchased a tandem that we LOVE! It is so much fun to ride on. We’ve been married for 43 years - I guess it takes a few years to have that communication without words! Loved hearing about the guy - Ride with Dan USA. That was a great story and glad he found Jesus on the bike.

Wasn't expecting that, got me all bleary eyed, listening to Dan talking about his project. I'm a veteran that has had treatment for PTSD. Lost numerous friends and colleagues through enemy action but sadly also lost too many others through depression and suicide. I think the level of awareness generally is increasing and the hope is that reducing the barriers that make it an uncomfortable subject allows those suffering to more freely find someone to talk to, for them to be heard, and get the help they need.
Dan, well done for the work you are doing and I wish you the greatest success, and continued peace in your life too.

Mackinac island is BEAUTIFUL. I took our 31 year old daughter for her 16th birthday. We traveled from INDIANA pulling a pop up camper with a friend & her 2 boys 6 & 8. WE TRAVELED as far North as Wawa Canada. We spent 5 weeks in Canada traveling & camping. THEN on the way back home we stop by Mackinac island. We took our own bikes on the ferry to the island. We stayed in a haunted bed-&-breakfast for 3 nights. It was so much fun. Yes things happened nothing bad just comforting.( This B&B has been on the travel channel) This trip was a special one my Daughter still talks about today. Just thought I'd share.. Lieutenant Dan, almost a modern day Forest Gump mission. Poetic! Amazing story, and also sad this is the first I heard of it. In a time all we hear about is our corrupt government and president, we miss amazing stories like this. Everyone needs to submit this story and website to your local media.

One of the best videos ever. I love Mackinac Island and I have such great memories from our visit there in the spring of 1982. The island is famous for it’s lilacs. My wife and I went to the island way back when we were on Annual Training with the Ohio National Guard. It was an amazing experience going through the Hotel after watching the movie about 6 times first, but we didn't get to see too much because of our limited time for the weekend. However, after watching this video we want to go back and actually see the island from a much different perspective like you all did with your friends. We've been wanting to get an RV for more than 15 years and are finally taking the plunge and getting ready to do this full time for at least a year (or longer) starting next April. We went to Elkhart, IN earlier this week and put a deposit on a 42 foot rig built by LUXE and, because of your videos and with additional input from BTBRV we purchased a 2019 Ford F-450 Limited yesterday. We are looking forward to experiencing a new lifestyle and to get the opportunity to visit sites we've only heard about, or had very limited time to explore. Have a great and safe journey on your travels to your next destinations. BTW: we also have relatives who live in New Haven, MI and that's one of our stops next year. Any recommendations on traveling up that way would be appreciated.

Having a full circle moment; for the last 12+ years, we have camped in Mackinac @ Mill Creek Campground. Most of those years, we stayed in a cabin. Its hard to be around all of of those rigs for so long without jumping in and buying one for yourself. It was in the search for our first travel trailer that I stumbled onto your channel. Ultimately, you have cost me around $70k so far, but the memories with our girls are priceless and I’m madly in love with my F250, so I’m not even mad about it! I can’t wait for the U.P. video, its by far my favorite place to be any time of the year. You will have to come back sometime to see it in the fall!

I hated for this video to end! This is definitely on my bucket list. I'm a widow though and so I don't want to go alone. The gentleman who lives part time on the island was fascinating and I could've listened to more of his history and experience and the veteran who was working to stop suicides was very inspiring. The candy, the ice cream and the views from the bikes were wonderful. It's a shame they didn't allow drones because it would've been so fun to see the island that way too. Thanks for going and sharing!!

My husband and I hiked the perimeter of Mackinac Island September 2017 with our golden/collie mixed breed, fortified with sandwiches from that great grocery store in town. Wonderful deli. Then, we took a staircase up to the street behind the Grand Hotel, and hiked up to the hotel from that same road you did from the airport. Such beautiful mansions! After an ice cream cone, we took one of those tourist tours and found it to be really fun--they even allowed the dog! We agree about the Star Fleet--great service with our dog! Then we headed up to a week in a cottage in Grand Marais. We recommend the sunset cruise to see the Pictured Rocks from Lake Superior (out of Munising) as well as the 11 mile loop trail that takes you along the shoreline--absolutely gorgeous with Caribbean blue water! We also enjoyed the shipwreck museum (we went to HS with two of the Edmund Fitzgerald crewmen) in Whitefish Bay and the hike at Taquanemon (sp) Falls. We are about to take delivery of our first RV and will retire at the end of 2019, so we look forward to returning someday. Love your tips!

🚲🌲⛴We love Mackinac Island too. Our family took all of our bikes over on the ferry and used them as transportation while staying over a long weekend. We did the extended horse carriage tour for fun. There are 2 forts. One on the Mackinac Island, Fort Mackinac and one in Mackinaw City, Colonial Michilimackinac for anyone else who is visiting. They are both excellent. We stayed at the same place you did and it works great for families. Highly recommend everyone do a 2-3 day stay on the island. It wasn’t something we chose to do, but many people enjoy the shops in Mackinaw City. It was fun to watch your visit and definitely makes me want to return with the family. I follow some channels with great videography and production, some with inspirational content, some that allow us an honest peak at their families and personal lives, and others that provide a realistic narrative of RV life. Only yours manages to bring all of these and more together in one place, and this video may very well be my favorite KYD offering yet. I believe that every day we are given is a gift, and the way we express our gratitude is to live it to its fullest. You guys do exactly that. Thank you for this video and your inspiration.

5:35 -hey guys! Watch your channel all the time. I got super excited when you mentioned boon-docking so I called to confirm because that was super exciting to us since staying on the island is pretty pricey and of course the person I spoke to said absolutely not since they aren’t a campground. Pretty bummed but now I guess I’ll look for a campground close. Anyways -big fan. You guys always provide great information and usually provide the answers to the questions I am looking for.

Very nice video depicting how to see Mackinaw Island! We stayed at the Chippewa Hotel! Absolutely loved the island! We DID the “touristy” carriage tour, our first day. Day 2,3,&4, we returned to those attractions that we wanted to see again. Bike rental is a must do, even at our retired age. 🙂 Waking up early is a must do. Loved watch all the island employees riding their bikes to work, and watch the ferries unload island supplies. Including horses, and hay. The city also hoses down the city streets every night. We love Michigan in the fall. Mackinaw Island is, for sure, one of our top must see destinations! Thanks again for sharing.

Oh my WORD!! Traverse City Cherry Fudge ice cream is my favorite! Living in OKLAHOMA and your trip to MI is making hubby (born and raised in MI) and I homesick for MI. And I would die for some Mackinac Island fudge!

Oh! Trish!! You guys need to go to Traverse City and go wine touring up Old Mission Peninsula! BEST CHERRY WINES EVER! We use to drop the kids at the Grandparents, hop on our motorcycle w/trailer up there for a weekend of wine tasting. Trailer was for the case or 2 of wine. Lol

Thank you very much for the awesome Mackinac footage, I grew up in Michigan and haven't been back in a long time, and miss it dearly. (We're in Florida) The wife and I are in the process of selling our farm and everything to be able to full time. You guys are very inspiring! I've been watching for about 3 years or so and this is my first post. Thank you for all of your hard work. Keep Your Daydream !

I really enjoyed seeing the horse drawn buggies. The bikes were neat! Loved hearing the history the elder gentleman shared. He was interesting. Very beautiful Island! I believe that fudge left a heavenly scent in the air from the look on Trishs' face. Glad to see you got to share time with good friends, & loved meeting them. Thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed your Video!

I’m a Michigander and really enjoyed this video. The last time I was on the island was probably 10 years ago. I’ve been across the bridge 4 times this summer with our trailer, camping in the UP. Boondocked 4th of July week in DeTour, a week in Manistique (full hookup) in September. Can’t wait for next weeks video.

I spent my childhood summers at a cabin in Copper Harbor Michigan. We spent time at the fort and learning about the Edmond Fitzgerald. If you make it there try the pasty its amazing!!! Oh and we would bring blueberry pancakes to "the dump" and feed the bears by cracking the windows. This was many moons ago, but left a life-long impression! Happy travels!

We have been there a couple of times and seeing you doing some of the same things we did brought back great memories. What time of year were you there. Our first time was July, bad idea. Very crowded and it was HOT. We will go back again and do some of the rings y’all did on our next trip. Thanks for the memories.
