- In this video we are going repair rear brake caliper with sticking parking mechanism on 2005 pre-facelift Honda Accord with 2.2i-CTDi diesel engine.
This is 7th generation Accord that came from 2003 to 2008. Passenger side emergency brake was not working. Specific problem was that rear brake caliper piston would not fully retract because of handbrake mechanism also it caused brake disc to get hot. Reason for that was water getting behind the seal of a caliper and causing corrosion inside. Other issues that may require a rebuild are worn seals, damaged boots or sticking slider pins.

Wow. It's nice to see the repair for the rear caliper with parking brake function. This is what I'm looking for. Thanks for making such nice video.
Best job and best video about refurbishing calliper I’ve seen this far.
Excellent tutorial top man exactly what i was looking for ive already done the piston rebuild a while back but now I need to sort one of the handbrake mechanism as its seized thanks
Excellent video. Very similar to my Citroen rear caliper which is also sticking on and i now know what to expect when I service it. Thank you.
Very similar the caliper for Peugeot, too. I'm changing the brake pads, but the caliper won't return. Should I give deep service like this?
@@federicoromero43 I could not find any pliers (2:06) to reach deep enough to release the clip so if I were you I'd skip straight to 2:20 and carry out that procedure. Basically clearing as much crap out as possible from the seal, regreasing and be done with it 👍
*I also bought the caliper return springs which were not fitted as standard.
Thanks was useful to see how it comes apart. The caliper on my civic looks very similar
good video! this is what i was looking for

Very nice 👍👍👍
good job
Is that parking parking brake disconnect method similar on most cars and suv’s ? I have a seized brake somewhere and I’d like to disconnect the parking brakes first and see if the vehicle rolls before pulling off a wheel at a time to test each caliper.
good video but i think i will buy a new calliper as i only have the street to work on.
parking brake mechanism will not come out, do you turn it and hammer it out? i am hitting it with the hammer and no budge, i do not want to damage it. thanks
What is the name of the rubber that you replace. Rubber holding the knot outside
Inside the piston rubber seal?...
Do you miss a seal before install ing the snap ring?
An O ring goes on the bolt which goes out of the back of the cylinder and attaches to the parking brake mechanism. The ring presses against a bronze washer to create a seal on the inside of the back of the caliper.
😊😊😊
Where to find rebuild parts?
Hello, we usually search parts by OEM code for this particular pre-facelift accord model, rear brake caliper repair kit code is 43018-SEA-E01.
Rock Auto usually has ones
good, except that he is swimming in brake cleaner fluid .... this is nonsense!
'promosm'
The title says rear brake caliper NOT PARKING BRAKE REPAIR😡🤬🤬
are you stupid? this type of caliper functions as both pedal brakes and hand/parking brakes. a caliper is a caliper. also do you think the brake fluid he bled is just for show? smh
