Best view of the internals of a rear parking brake disk brake caliper available online in the world. Previously I used Chilton since 1970. For every used car I bought I got the Chilton to go with it, until you guys online did a superior job. Usually good information costs us a bit.
"Leaking! Leaking!" with true alarm in his voice - classic! You made a nice job of it. Surely the other side of the axle is ready for an overhaul as well.
Haha, cheers. Glad you enjoyed it. I have the parts for the other side but it still has a few more miles in it yet. I like to get the most out of things. 😉 More pressingly, as the weather is getting colder, the heater plugs need replacing.. 👍
Great video. I like the deliberate, slow pace of your movements to ensure the camera catches the detail. You perfectly captured the tranquility of the workshop. Methodically disassembling, cleaning and reassembling. Meanwhile in the distance a dog's bark, the call of a bird, children playing. I think you have watched a lot of This Old Tony.
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it. Re: This old tony; I have seen them all - One of the best channels on TH-cam😀 I must say though, I'm not trying to be like him. Its just the way the videos turn out. That said, I will take the comparison as a complement. 😀😀 Thanks again.
Nice vid, good to see someone actually repairing a component rather than replacing - like a garage would do.... Looks like i`m gonna` be doing this soon as my rear caliper is binding on.
I rather buy this than from the factory that made it. It is type of work that covers the factory's neglect. :-) There are three types of people in this world. Those who know. Those who do the grunt work and the rare breed is the third category, the ones that know and can not be intimidated by grunt work. Inspirational man is this fellow.
Cheers, I am quite busy with the day job at the moment and my channel has suffered a bit as a consequence. I have been struggling to get decent audio quality in the workshop, hence the lack of talking in the last few videos. However, I have a plan to solve this problem. Maybe I will do a video on it.. Thanks, I really do appreciate constructive criticism 👍😀👍 Helps me to improve the videos and know what the audience wants to see.
Nice work, always good to see a disassembly/reassembly job in motion rather than in words or stills :) I was going to suggest winding in the piston on the vehicle with the bleed nipple open to catch the fluid, but then it would have been a pain to remove it again once fully wound in ;)
I see you didn’t take out the handbrake mechanism. My caliper looks to be just like that. But the handbrake mechanism in the caliper isn’t held in by a c type retaining stop ring like other designs, from what I can see. Did you come across this and do you know how to take the mechanism out???
Fantastic job, great attention to minor details, numerous gold stars for the loctite which is very often forgotten. Wanted to see the screw mechanism and understand how it works, why would they do that? The best mechanics always have the dirtiest hands. "We don't need no stinkin' gloves!"
Sorry but the best bit you missed, the bit where you try the hand brake after rebuilding to see if it is actuating the piston, or needs adjustment Mr Spence Eng
May I please know why you didn't bother removing the handbrake assembly? I have a Toyota where left Ebrake is not working so wondering whether a rebuild would fix it?
I did the rebuild since the main seals were leaking. There was nothing wrong with the handbrake mechanism so I didn't feel the need to touch it. I learnt a long time ago; If it ain't broke don't fix it. Cheers.
Very nice job! I have the exact same car as you. Mine have left turn caliper stamp on the left side and right turn caliper stamp on the right side. I do not find left turn and right turn caliper stamp anywhere to buy. Do you know where to get this? Thanks!
Apologies. I have been working through some 'life stuff' I shot a new video over the last week or so. I just have to edit it and then it. It should be up in a couple of weeks.
Wheel studs are not supposed to be changed, unless it's needed for some extraordinary reason! Do things properly and the possibility of problems vanish into thin air. ;-) About the studs being "made of chineeseum" that's normal! In engineering that's sometimes called a fuse... If something as to fail in a system, you already have programed "failure" point on a cheap and easy to replace part without compromising the entire system! A good example, shear pins on any propeller or prop shaft on tractors or snow blowers! ;-)
Can anyone explain to me? Why My calipers keep leaking from the rubber seal after a couple months of replacing them. I've had to go back and get warranties for the rear driver side 3 times in now the. Rear passenger side will be the third time. Is there a way I can just rest? Did rubber feel? Because it keeps coming out from there
In the absence of a proper tool... - An angle grinder wrench can work quite well! - Needle nose pliers, specially the bend tip type. can also work. And a few other options. Although the right tool for the job always facilitate! ;-)

Best video ever....no useless talking, no stupid music, no cinematography bullcrap just the job at hand with attention to detail.
Thanks very much. Glad you enjoyed it!!

guys such great detailed video can't agree more with whats been said. well done again

Once again very kind words. thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Great post, very useful and extremely well made. Thank you for taking the time to do this I appreciate that 🙂
Glad to see you back. Would have been nice to hear you talk it through

Great idea, wish I has thought of that. Might try that next time! Cheers. 👍
Ekine saglik harika bir video olmuş

Меньше слов, больше дела!
отличная работа!
Excellent job
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Good job, thanks for your time and patience. One thing: you should wear latex gloves, brake fluid is poisonous.
Man good job! That was a really messy project.
Cheers glad you enjoyed it. Not the most enjoyable job but at least my van works again now 😀😉
brilliant video

Well done good job
Cheers, It's still going strong.
thank you. great material!
You are welcome! glad you enjoyed it.

Mr Spence Eng
Nice job, great video! It was very helpful for me, thnx a lot!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you very much for your work. My Mondeo mk3 seem to have a similar brake. What is the red lube or vax you put on the piston surface?
May I please know why you didn't bother removing the handbrake assembly? I have a Toyota where left Ebrake is not working so wondering whether a rebuild would fix it?

Sorry I don't know. I tend to get most parts online or from local suppliers. Thanks for watching.
Well Done 👍🏼 Mate
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it.
Hey man where you gone?
Missing your videos, hope your OK.
Apologies. I have been working through some 'life stuff' I shot a new video over the last week or so. I just have to edit it and then it. It should be up in a couple of weeks.
@@Handmadeextreme hope you managed to sort the issues out OK, good to see your coming back.
Yes thanks it's all worked out quite nicely.
Is there any seal as shown in minute 7:35? Rubber seal only at the piston?
excellent pro job
Cheers. 👍
Just found your channel and subbed. Great content👍🏻
Welcome, glad you are enjoying the videos. 👍👍
Hi, have you done a mondeo front calliper refurb, can’t find one
Sadly not but I would expect the procedure to be more or less the same. Thanks for watching.
Is it worth changing the wheel studs too, I had a wheel work loose on my Trany and the studs were made of chineeseum?
They seemed ok but I'll go and take a closer look at them, Cheers. 👍👍

Lubed everything except the brake pad shims?
I think I may have put some copper slip on them off camera. It was a while ago now. Thanks for watching.
Where do you buy your parts from
No iron ring?
What's the actual name of the tool, to push the piston back in, i tryed manually, didn't work
Brake caliper rewind tool or piston rewind tool. Thanks for watchin.
In the absence of a proper tool...
- An angle grinder wrench can work quite well!
- Needle nose pliers, specially the bend tip type. can also work.
And a few other options. Although the right tool for the job always facilitate! ;-)
Wear do you get your seal kit from? Great videos
Ebay. It was only £20 if I remember correctly and that included a new piston too. Cheers, glad you enjoyed it. 👍👍
so fitting new is best
New calliper is certainly easier. Rebuild is a lot cheaper though if you have the time.
Bon travail
Merci beaucoup
You're good
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
good!
Thank you.
soft jaws on vise would not mark piston !
Great advice. Thanks for watching.
You don’t say 🤭
haha, glad you enjoyed it.
hahahahaha Great job but you scared me when you take of the piston hahahaha
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
@9:20 thats 👉not right👈🙉 the 2 black plastic 🥾's need to go inserted into both ends of the unit 🙊
Gosh this is nightmare. You should not do this job until you really understand the mechanism.
This's not restoration!!!
why isnt it?
FIRST!
Will played Rich. You are on the ball today! Now get back to work! 👍
WHY didn't you take out the inner thread part from the caliper?!
