The lady had a decently long career, served admirably, and her final mission was against what was at that time a hostile force literally from beyond the stars and managed to hold long enough for most of her crew to escape. Plus we got Chief Engineer Nog. So that's a win.
Starships named Enterprise tend to have fairly short careers. To the best of my knowledge, the original ToS Enterprise NCC-1701 "no bloody A, B, C, or D" holds the record for longevity. And for most Captains. Not counting possible temporary commanders like Jellicoe. There are any number of real-world warships with longer service histories. Even excluding special circumstances like USS Constitution, USS Pueblo, and HMS Victory. All technically still commissioned naval vessels.
Imagine how amazing it would have been for Chief Engineer Nog to make a cameo in Picard aboard the E, even if it were just a quick flashback or something. RIP Aron, you’re sorely missed…
Hey Rick, I am having a really tough time irl at the moment. I just want to say thank you for your videos. They keep me going, distract me from the bad things and are so wonderfully interesting. Your calm voice, your humour and the topics of most videos are all things that make me watch them religiously at the moment. Thank you. ❤️
United States Navy USS Enterprise CVN-65 had an active service record of 52 years, and it wasn't decommissioned until 2017. Mean you could say it was around for 57 years. I think that might take the cake for longest serving Ship with the name Enterprise. Unless the Gerald R Ford class Enterprise lasts up to 60. Large ships are expensive and cost a lot of resources. So it's in the best interest of everyone (minus the enemy) that their worth is well spent before decommissioning.
Personally, I think they really screwed the pooch in how they handled this in the Picard series. Rather than retiring the F, and making the Titan the G, they should have been retiring the E at fleet day, and they should have then debuted the Odysset class F in all her Glory at the very end, with Seven in command, and the obsolete Titan retired.
Literally this is exactly what I believe too. I honestly believe the executives just don’t like the F out of Ego because they didn’t design it and a Fan did. Same reason why they didn’t use the original design for the Titan, because that’s also a fan designed ship
This. @@ehandley1045 I think it's because Matalas is a very TMP kinda of guy as far as aesthetics. He leans very retro. Secondly the show itself stops at some point and it's left to non writers fans or writers who are done with the story to just make up something that also plays a factor.
A nice chronology, and an illustrious career for the Enterprise E. I like it. The only thing I don't really find plausible in the events of new Trek is the scaling back of Starfleet. I know the official story is that Starfleet/the Federation was placing the bulk of resources on constructing the Romulan evacuation fleet, which surely is massive, but in a postscarcity "full luxury" society like the Federation, dealing in 150+ planets, I would think that resources, production facilities, and tech know-how would be so massively abundant and re-locateable that a diminished fleet would not last for that long. In other words, even with the Utopia Planitia etc production, I think the Federation would be more resilient.

An exploration vessel under no circumstance should engage in combat where retreat is possible. This is due to such vessels being so far out for any fleet support that reinforcement or rescue is utterly impossible. Fighting defensively, in order to secure the safety of any away teams, shuttles, and the ship herself, is permissible. Fighting in support of other vessels also seeking escape from a combat scenario is expected. But unless the exploration vessel is in fact supported or within acceptable response range of other Starfleet assets, said vessel is required to seek egress from the combat area. I still don't know what the Romulan Free State is and how it might differ from the RSE or the Romulan Republic. And I think current Trek forgot about the Remans altogether.
Data (B4) took command of the Enterprise E in 2386 until it was destroyed in 2408 by Species 8472 in the STO timeline. There was also something about it taking part in several peace talks between the Gorn & Klingons which all ultimately failed.
Star Trek Online original lore has its issues... But I would take it as canon over anything Bad Robot/JJ Abrams or Secret Hideout/Kurtzman have done since they got their grubby little fingers on Star Trek in 2009. The books where great, Way better than the stupidity of blowing up Hobus, and destroying the Romulans. And don't forget, that it was Captain Hernandez, of NX-02 Columbia that convinced them to end it. Also gave them an origin, via the Columbia crew.
While that's a better fate for the Enterprise-E I can't stand the Destiny storyline. My primary complaint is the Borg should in absolutely no way at all ever have any common origin anywhere with humanity, not a single scrap. It shrinks the universe and is humano-centric geocentric nonsense.
One thing that hit me, the other day, while looking at STO ships, especially new ones, are that Starfleet seems to have dispensed with standards and interchangeability. Most notably, Warp-nacelles. In TOS-era we have the tubular nacelles, which in apocrypha were shared across various Starship classes, with certain appropriate size-scaling, when needed. In TMP, we see Connie-refit and Miranda-class sharing nacelle types, abliet with different attachment points. Even USS Jenolan (Sydney-class) had similar design language in their nacelles, though quite a bit smaller in size. Once again in apocrypha, we see this design style shared across several types of the era. In STO we see the Matsumoto class, a pre-Akira styled ship, having said Nacelles as well. With Excelsior-class we see a new sleeker type of nacelles, but on screen only it and Centaur class are seen to utilize said nacelle type, though in STO we see the revamped Columbia-class having very similar nacelles. In the lost timeline, with the rise of the Ambassador, there isn't much standard of nacelles, until we reach... The TNG era with the Galaxy-design language, once again having nacelles of shared design. This lasts until DS9, VOY and First contact, where the only shared similar nacelles are the Sovereign and Nova class, with differences in size and minor details. Oslo-class in STO does share the nacelles with Nova, apart from size. After that it seems that nacelle designs being era-denotions completely disappear. Would a video in the works, to explain this?
An interesting point. Starfleet design in the late 24th century began producing a large number of experimental designs with different design needs. The Defiant has very protected nacelles to protect them from the Borg, the Intrepid smaller variable geometry nacelles to reduce damage to the fabric of space, the Prometheus which is a high speed long range interceptor has very Sovereign like nacelles, the Akira's nacelles are between the Galaxy and the Sovereign's. In the latest 24th Century the Inquiry class has a variety of nacelle options. In the Early 25th Century however designs like the Sagan, Echelon, and Duderstadt all have the same nacelles, which apparently are based on technology derived from "The Artifact".
my head canon is that enterprise e was so badly damaged by the protostar weapon in the episode supernova wich i do belive we see the e in that episode and if my timeline is correct it take place a few years before the launch of enterprise f wich is launch 15 years before picard and prodigy take place 20 years before picard season 3 if baby jack crusher has anything to say about it
Seeing as the Devs have already said they don't achknowlege things like the new ESD in their game I think It's safe to say STO's timeline remain as it was prior to Picard coming out. With exception to things they specifically add in to the game like UTP's destruction.
Star Trek Online has a nice inbuilt reasoning for the divergence with the "Butterfly" episode of the Iconian War. They basically scrambled the timeline with multiple temporal incursions.
@@3Rayfire no that was undone by the end so it doesn’t directly effect the main game timeline. STO just has a better handle on trek so they knew and new ESD was a dumb idea.
It's honestly disgraceful that CBS has waffled on the fate of the Enterprise-E so much. On the one hand I'm grateful to Matalas and company for inserting the Enterprise-F into canon, a well earned position, though I'm also on the other hand, miffed? Irked? offended? I don't know. The decisions made have basically minimized the legacies of the Enterprise-E and Enterprise-F not giving the E-E a satisfying end and not giving the E-F the opportunity for a long and storied life. It also overwrites the legacy of the Titan and Titan-A. It all comes off as very odd.
LOL Good luck on winning youtube.... I really like the E, and I dont feel like it dying to fight in fluidic space feels... idk grand enough.... but then it being killed off in a foot note in Picard was brutal too, funny, but brutal. I just didn't pay to much mind to it since I love the Enterprise D so much.
Just wondering, is this all covered in the Star Online story series on this channel? I've watched all the episodes but most of the lore in this vid I can't recall being covered, so I'm worried I might had a stroke and forgotten most of the lore covered,!?!
To me, this is cannon and how the Enterprise-E should have ended, a long and admirably career. 2nd longest serving Enterprise to date right behind the original Enterprise. Sovereign class closing out the 24th century as the main stream flagship and the Odyssey taking the lead in the 25th century.
In Deep Space Nine season six episode Change Of Heart Sisko tells Worf that he is unlikely to be offered a command of his own after the events of this episode.
35 years is a long service I reckon they decommissioned the old girl make her a museum ship depending on if they decide to incorporate the game timeline of what happened to the Enterprise e into the prime timeline which will make a TV series..
What if section 31 stolen to enterpise e making its crew captain wolf's crew fully abannoned then enterpise e look loke blew enterpise e up but in relity phased cloaked amd time jumped in to the sectiin 31 movie as mission ship the returned to fleet gallery
I’d agree that this could be an interesting section of timeline to tell stories in. As long as it’s a person who actually respects and is knowledgeable about Star Trek canon and the fandom. No overt identity politics or other crap along those lines and actual true story telling would make it successful. There’s an actual way to include certain ideals without shoving it down ppls throats
@8:30 "What do you think?" I think that is a worthy fate for the 1701-E. It is a pity that I had to learn it from a TH-cam channel; where Star Trek official canon writers were too lazy or incapable of getting it right. I have a sneaky suspicion that the "prime canon" fate of the 1701-E will continue to be a "dumb joke" amongst the writers/cast/crew/showrunners/not us.
Kirk: Don't let them promote you, don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship because while you're there, you can make a difference. Picard: LOL Imma let them promote me.
I all ways thought the federation would just send all the ships they already had available to evacuate the romulans. the enterprise could’ve been the last ship out and got caught in the blast of the supernova . Picard retired after and the ship was to badly damage to keep using it.
I love your videos, but have one gripe... The Kelvin timeline is at least "25%" different from the Prime timeline. Considering Picard follows the destruction of Romulus, it is firmly in the Kelvin universe.
Is any new Trek series even set in the prime timeline? Maybe Lower Decks, but they crossed over into SNW once so in which timeline is that set? SNW is takes place around or just before the events of the 09 movie so... Timey-wimey stuff gives me a headache.
i agree we need more from the producers and storywriters of the prime timeline even kelvin what would the Kelvin variant of Enterprise -e if using the SS Vengeance for a blueprint all i have to say is holy Jameson that thing would be a planet killer probably take on the empire in one go and swing around the galaxy far far away for seconds.
I have a little thepry about enterpise f was taken put of service early because was orginally the uss varity later recristen as the enterpise f bit the computer being 15 years old needed to be upgraded but respources were deployed elsewhere
Bit of an error you have here sir. Data (B4) was in command of thew E. Worf returned to kronos. They had loading screens that had this information on it a long time ago. i know this information doesn't make much sense in regards to the included Picard series events, but as far as the game lore is considered, those event didn't happen in this timeline, or at least not with the same results.
The Enterprise E was perfect for cinema because the screens were wide like rectangle. The Enterprise D was perfect for television because television sets in those days were square.
You're the second person to point this out, but in the video it says 2379 on the timeline and I refer to the battle with the Protostar in 2384, unless there is another instance of an error?
It's not that hard to imagine at all. Being a diplomat was never Worf's thing, and he only took it up by Martok's insistence. And by this time, most of the people he served with, including his commanding officer of DS9, were long gone. And probably still being somewhat haunted by Jadzia's death, there's only 2 places he could call home; his adopted parent's place and the Enterprise. And the E just so happened to have a first officer opening.
The most unceremonious write-off of a beloved ship we have yet seen. Of all the of Enterprises, this one got the worst part..... to be literally swept under the rug. I actually feel insulted by the writing team at this point. What did the E do, that was so disgusting, to deserve such a fate?
I honestly dare to say, for me, Star Trek Online is the offical canon now. The new shows make so many mistakes, they either goes in a paralel timeline, like JJ movies in the Kelvin timeline, or they are not canon and in case of Discovery not even Star Trek at all. Meanwhile, STO is the game, that continued the story telling of the original shows, and also made by true Trek fans it's the closest to the canon (Exept the new Discovery story lines, but they even managed to make that usable in "canon" Trek!)
They made their own story and even jumped to a new timeline during the iconian arc. The canon will always be the shows regardless of someone's hurt feelings
@@everettjohnson9374 This is pure BS. Strange New Worlds already proved that they are the ones who jumped to a new timeline. And if Discovery would be canon, then Voyager would be a 1 episode show, or Voyager not canon anymore. Canon is canon, and if a show change canon, that show not canon anymore. It has nothing to do with feelings. It's common sense.
Star Fleet has always searched for more advanced cultures to befriend but never finds any. Always equal or less advanced races. When will they find a race that says "oh you need new ultra shield tech. Here!" or "Phasers? How antique! Try these."
I like all three, so hard to choose really. All are more way more interesting and deserving of an Enterprise than the 'catastrophic system failure' that they gave to the F. Not gonna stop hating that G! All in good nature though. XD

I like Star Trek Online's timeline for the E. A far more fitting career and fate than what the Hacks at CBS did for her for the "Prime" timeline.
my head canon is that enterprise e was so badly damaged by the protostar weapon in the episode supernova wich i do belive we see the e in that episode and if my timeline is correct it take place a few years before the launch of enterprise f wich is launch 15 years before picard and prodigy take place 20 years before picard season 3 if baby jack crusher has anything to say about it
Seeing as the Devs have already said they don't achknowlege things like the new ESD in their game I think It's safe to say STO's timeline remain as it was prior to Picard coming out.
I'll add to that million. We stan the E in this home.
It's the only respectable position.
2:45 since I literally watched Prodigy the other day, the Enterprise E is no where in the episodes that I saw or named
It wasn’t supposed to be the romulan star that went supernova, it was Hobus.
Thanks for another great video.
The OG enterprise is like those tan fridges from the 80s and every ship after has the staying power of a walmart microwave.
To me, this is cannon and how the Enterprise-E should have ended, a long and admirably career. 2nd longest serving Enterprise to date right behind the original Enterprise. Sovereign class closing out the 24th century as the main stream flagship and the Odyssey taking the lead in the 25th century.
I rather like the idea of Capt. Worf having a good number of years in the big chair.
In Deep Space Nine season six episode Change Of Heart Sisko tells Worf that he is unlikely to be offered a command of his own after the events of this episode.
Straight away, Investigation into how the vessel threw in the towel.

35 years is a long service I reckon they decommissioned the old girl make her a museum ship depending on if they decide to incorporate the game timeline of what happened to the Enterprise e into the prime timeline which will make a TV series..
The real question is in the Online timeline, what happened to the Enterprise-F? And was the Enterprise-G the same powerhouse renamed Titan...?
I'd love to find out in the Section 31 series that the Enterprise-E's "loss" is actually a S31 coverup!
If they can make it look less cheesy Ill watch it if not no thanks didnt like disco or strange its goofy and picard too they cant write
All Kurtzman trek "canon" can be ignored.
Both Jar Jar Apebrains and Klutzmann are cancer...🤬
Wait a minute... Didn't Spock in Star Trek 11 say, that they were coming from the 29th century, not from the 24th? I'm confused here...
Is this actively reflected in this? There are main story missions where the E appears.
I would love to know what Worf did to the E.
I just see jer joining A amd B in tje museum
“That was not my fault….”

I have a little thepry about enterpise f was taken put of service early because was orginally the uss varity later recristen as the enterpise f bit the computer being 15 years old needed to be upgraded but respources were deployed elsewhere
2:58 - "Anti-**Brog** Taskforce".
Right off the bat, Rick wants to Win You Tube.
Why would a captain choose to charge after a undine ship into fluidic space alone... that seems reckless.
I wouldn’t mind an overview about the Achilles Class which was recently added to Star Trek Online, hint hint wink wink please
This video is a win in my book.
The "Prime Timeline" sucks big harry balls. The only timeline that matters is the "Canon Timeline", and that's the hill I'll die on.
Here's hoping you get your million views. Jolan tru!
We all know Worf followed Riker's example and totaled out the Enterprise E.
Work blew it up😅
You have no honor, pa'tahk! 😡
almost 6k views in 4 hours, that's a good start, lol
i love the anti BROG Task force

You made a mistake the battle against the scimitar at basin rift was in 2379
You're the second person to point this out, but in the video it says 2379 on the timeline and I refer to the battle with the Protostar in 2384, unless there is another instance of an error?
Maybe it’s out there chilling with discovery.???
I am still trying to figure out, how Worf went from ambassador to the Klingon Empire, to first officer on the E.
@@HeadlessChickenTO I'd ay that he was pretty good at Klingon diplomacy.
@@nunya3163
Not really. In the 'All good things...' timeline he couldn't even convince Klingons from destroying the USS Pasteur with him on it! 😏
What ever happened.... is was Worf's fault. 😁
Whatever happened to it, it definitely wasn't Worf's fault...
Would it be fair and would you agree with me to say that it is fair to say that there are now two Lost Eras of Star Trek
It was not Worf's fault
brog
Star Fleet has always searched for more advanced cultures to befriend but never finds any. Always equal or less advanced races. When will they find a race that says "oh you need new ultra shield tech. Here!" or "Phasers? How antique! Try these."
I like all three, so hard to choose really. All are more way more interesting and deserving of an Enterprise than the 'catastrophic system failure' that they gave to the F. Not gonna stop hating that G! All in good nature though. XD
