Im still using mine since mid 2019.
I am convinced that phone design peaked with the S9/Note 9 gen. You had everything you could ask for in a phone. Expandable storage, headphone jack, great display, very good cameras. I could go on (im most likely biased).
The exynos version which i have is worse than the qualcomm version, but not by a whole lot. I had the chance to test both
I do wish Samsung continued software support for at least one more year but oh well.
The only manufacturer that matches the feature set of this phone nowadays is Sony. Unfortunately their phones are very expensive. Im still gonna go and save up enough money for one.
I tried custom roms and the best one i found was the pixel experience rom. Worked very well. I switched back to stock because i needed the camera to be usable.

Agree 100%. I have my S9+ and a new S23 ultra but honestly I love my S9+. IMO the difference is negligible. Under the hood and the camera well sure the Ultra wins, but every day use its not that different.

It is a gorgeous phone, I once had it before I switched to iPhone. My mother, who I gave it to, still uses it. A trustworthy, ever-steady device with a great design and still a decent enough camera. The only thing that‘s annoying is the curved screen which makes you accidentally trigger the touchscreen.

I think Samsung should you use the S9 series with a slight update the only thing that was missing on these phones what's 5G and and bigger batteries but overall Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus and note 9 decent from 2018/2019 to me personally I would choose the s20 ultra on the refurbished phones market it's one of the last Samsung devices the had expandable storage and security updates

Samsung have a different approach in S9, while iphone support dual camera, Samsung Equipped S9 with dual aperture camera lens. So the camera can perform as dual camera setup, it's really adaptive to all light condition. But unfortunately, it's not supported by Samsung anymore since they only promised gotten 2 major update and 3 security update and it got them all already, it's stuck in one UI 2.1 android 10.
But the newer one such as S21 flip 3, fold 3 And up, Samsung guarantee it supported up to 4 major Software update and 5 Security patch.

I travel a lot outside of cellphone data range and both the external storage and FM radio let me enjoy music when offline. Plus the form factor is just right. Small enough that it isn't too bulky with a proctective case. I tried another Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, cheap with a headphone jack, but it's too large and the build quality feels cheap af.

It probably has the best display ever on a smart phone. I absolutely love the dual curved amoled panel of S9. I guess it's one of the most accurate phone displays created ever. Also stereo sound after 4 years is still superb. I can't say how much I am love with this phone. Every cricket match or movie that I watched on this was an absolute treat. I just wished if Samsung had given better battery life to increase its availability. Currently I get 7 hrs screen on time on 100% charge which very low, so have to charge 2/3 times a day which is still fine to me just for the amazing display and sound.

It went from 100% to 0 in about 4 hours and all I was doing was some discord and browsing. I'm taking that to mean that the battery I have is pretty much useless at this point or is that about the same hours you get on your phone? (for a similar load)

  • @nikhilpaleti3872
    @nikhilpaleti3872 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I want to ask how much does the update aspect matter?
Because lets be honest, its mostly just far too overhyped by Apple fans, because Apple gives more.
I mean, the S9 (Android 9) has all apps available (from Play Store) as S23 with Android 13. Meanwhile, even the 1-2 Year Old iOS 14 loses most apps, so iPhones NEED updates to work.
The big thing is security, and how much difference is it, compared to just using a little cautiously, or -----
A free anti-virus to just do monthly scans?
Considering that Samsung is one of the best in terms of software stability, experimental features. And that Knox is highly advanced, real, hardware based security too......
This will truly be better than many mid-range phones

    • @TheFastgear

It's good phone with only one very bed thing in it, for me it is problem of all S series - thin phones with top CPUs, relay on same battery A series have. With non-plus S phone can't survive workday without charging, A-series you can use all day without things like - run map to find address and loose 2% of battery.
If only S9 were 2mm thicker with ~4000mAh battery - I'll call it 5 years phone we can still use with no problem. Good camera, fast for everyday use, not too big. But after A-series achieve cameras you really can use, like A51 or never and two-three times better battery time S9 is not super option. (Samsung have no mid options with good cameras in times of S9, like Nexus 5x and some other mids have).
I think my s9 would be my phone till it works (have my battery replaced this year), but after I'll go for A54 or ASUS zenphone 9, not for S22/S23. Yes, we can use fast charge, but how it can replace capacity, if I left home/office/car for some walk - I have no confidence on my phone if no powerbank in my pocket, even with 100% battery.

I couldnt care less what anyones mum says. Ill tell you now. The samsung S9 is one of if not the most timeless phone. If not for the single camera at the back it would be as modern today as back then.
Ive had my S9 for 5yrs mayb and even now everytime i take the case off it i just think WOW that feels incredible.
I use 3 phones today. I thought ide upgrade last year and silly times i decided to try a S20 FE. 8 day's later i dropped it and cracked the screen in 3 places. Im using it right now though. You cant see the cracks when the screen is on.
So i decided quickly i need a new phone and F that idea again keep the cheap 💩 ill get an S phone only.
So i got the s22 bcos of how nice the s9 feels in hand perfection just feels like the best marble pebble ever.
But nope i didnt like the S22 at all it felt weird in my hand i decided the S20 FE large screen got to me so F it go swap it for the S22+ the one that looks identical to the s23+ lol. I just played with s23+ plus days ago and its identical.
Except the cameras periscope walls easier to see on s22+ and the little red dot on s22+ isnt red on s23+
But that s23+ was cracked so badly its only 3 months old and caved in at the top. Scary 💩 if you ask me.
My s20 FE was flung out of my hand opening stiff door and crashed into hard concrete floor and its only got hair line cracks.
My S9 though 😍 it has stood up to so many atracks mostly from my kids. I stopped caring about it year's ago give it to the 3yr old with temper issues who cares.
I remember last summer i saw my messy bed and quickly made it. I grabbed the quilt and violently shook it to spread the quilt i did it fast as you do. Then i immediately saw my S9 flying through the air crashed into the wall like ide thrown it at the wall then it fell 5ft ish to the floor and its still perfect.
With its screen burn though the one and only issue i had with my S9.
I have a bad habit of sleeping with my phone on YT audiobooks etc if the phone goes silent i wake up restart the video back to sleep. So it got sceeen burn fast and i learned to dim the brightness in future but damage was done. Num keypad letters etc all burned into the screen.
Which is why i keep it now i use my S9 as my sleep phone. It is always on charge all night whilst playing video's then when i get up i unplug the charger and leave it there till night. Battiery 90+% still and back on charge non stop YT for 8-12hrs.
Ide say its having a really hard life and yet i think its my favorite phone of all time still.
Taking over from my S4 I loved my S4. I loved my S7 but easier forgotten with S9.
The S2 S7 S9 are the best of the S phones imo.
But i skipped s3. S5 my wife had those feminine phones though. Idk why but they really are HER versions of S phones to me. Guys looked phone with S3 especially feminine phone. My mum had the first S5 i saw so and it's perforated rear case and little fanny flap over its charge port. Feminine phone.
I never had experience with S6 or S8 but dont think i missed much. S4 slayed even then. S7 slayed till S9.
S9 Still slays today though. Phones now are just too much i dont know what i love about my s22+ except the 100x zoom i never ever use.
The theme creator is cool. Slow mo etc afew camera tricks i really like but later i checked my s20 FE which is now my daily home browser phone.
S22+ has an easy life but s20fe does almost everything my s22+ does.
But i do love the s22+ camera cluster and the S pen thats feminine asF i always thought but it is a nice touch
    I
