I am still using it as well, like yes there are better phones on the market, but I just don't need them.
This phone does absolutely everything I could want out of a phone & getting a bettery upgrade for $16 gives you outstanding battery life.
Even with a 7 year old phone I have no reason to upgrade, this just works.

I'm still using an S7! It's perfect for what I need it for, a good and reliable smartphone that's still up to date. No issues with games and emulation, no issues with content and no issues with communication. I probably won't stop using it 'till it's done for good lol

I was waiting for someone to post something about using Galaxy S7 in 2023 and here you are. I am still using this phone and it pretty much does the general work I need to do such as Calls, WhatsApp, Emails and photography. The only thing getting affected is its battery which now runs for a day. So I am just gonna keep it till it dies or 5G becomes a necessity.

Galaxy s10e is a huge step up and still has headphone jack and USB type-C. Love mine as a daily driver. Used it for 3 months in Japan with Rakuten Mobile during winter 2022 and just swapped the micro SIM. S7 is basically our smart TV remote and extra camera/video recording device.

I'm still occasionally using my S7 as of today, March 18, 2023, and to be quite honest with you, the performance is still quite exceptional. Sure, it can be choppy at times, especially in the beginning when using it, but lately it's been really surprising me on how well it performs, especially for a nearly seven year old device. My favorite feature is definitely the sharp, clear resolution of the screen, which is well over 500 ppi

I have had the same S7 i had since middle school and im out of HS now. It served me well for a few years until I upgraded and then it sat in a box for a long time. Still works flawlessly other than a crack on the back glass and a chip on the fingerprint scanner, and the battery only lasts 1 hour on standby but its the oem battery.

I remember the s7 all to well. I loved that phone I use to have it for at least 3 years until I got the S9 unfortunately my mom's S7 had a defective battery that expanded and swelled up a few months after getting it luckily she got a new replacement S7 covered under warranty and that one lasted her at least 6 years. I'll always remember this phone it was fun to use

My work phone is an S21. My personal phone is an S7 Edge. The S21 is faster, but other than that there is not much difference. I don't really game on phones except Angry brids which wll run on almost anythng. TH-cam , facebook, Google maps all work just fine. The S7 does heartrate, the S21 can't. The S21 battery last for ages. The S7 battery just about does a day with heavy use.

Awesome screen, fantastic camera, performing really really well in 2023.
Years ago, I bought a second one as a backup and haven't used it until recently when I unboxed it, so now I've got a brand new S7 :))
I also have an A34 5G, but honestly, apart from the newer software (which really doesn't bring any actual/practical benefits to me), the A34 still can't compete with a 7 year old flagship like the S7. I still prefer the S7 camera and display. I really wish I could find genuine replacement batteries for this device, I would never change it :))

I'm still using this phone in 2023, actually I'm watching this video on it right now,and i gotta say, for a 2016 phone (plus i bought it used)
The battery gets me through a full day and not a bit if lag and I'm still running it at it's latest os 8 update.
And i really can't complain, sure this phone doesn't come with all the bells and whistles that the newer ones do, but i still love it, it does everything i need it to do, plus,if you want dark mode or any of that, just go to Google flags.
To me , this is still an excellent phone

I really can't go back to a phone prior to 2018. My Essential Phone from 2017 is starting to get laggy and no way to get the battery replaced. My iPhone SE1 and 7 from 2016 are both laggy and battery life sucks on both. I'm done with niche phones like the Essential PH-1. They have piss-poor resale value. Stick to Samsung or Apple.

Battery performance is still good after years.

Would encourage people to be very beware of this phone. Have owned S7 4.5 years. Bought it brand new from At&T, never used. Can't use as a trade-in because of the issues with the screen.
The problems began 1.5 years after purchasing- with it becoming too warm, the metal sides would get way hot. Started to delete all apps & all photos. The bottom 1/3 of the screen started to flicker on & off then finally went completely black. I learned to text blindly- no joke.
After another year+, the rest of the screen started to flicker and finally went black too. Tried every button reset, like there are 15 different ones. None of them worked. I reset the phone several times, deleted all apps that it would allow. Never gamed on this phone & took very good care of it with an otter box case. Screen was never cracked, was in pristine shape. This is a common problem with some of the Galaxy series, and am super sure Samsung is very well aware of. Thousands of people have reported it already. I finally took my phone apart to see if the LCD cable was not attached properly to the screen, it was not that. Never understood if this was a software or hardware issue- research showed it could be either. Believe it could be a design flaw. Also, there are no more updates to download for this phone.
Has been nightmare not just to me, but many people who have several different Galaxy phones, read about. The only thing could do to get screen to come back was to blow dry screen, right sounds crazy- but it worked. But then it eventually would go black again. Throwing it into a deep pit volcano.
Good riddance Samsung- no more of either of you. Wouldn't do it over again if I knew what I know now..

I like Samsung Galaxy phones but I tend to need to get a replacement at least once a year. But with my new OnePlus 9 I got in 2021 that's not the case at all this phone is just about 2 years old and still going with no hardware issues and has been very reliable and strong and the battery life is great and the best part it only needs 40 minutes to recharge the battery with the cable and the special WALL charge INCLUDED in the box I didn't even need to get anything besides a case when I picked up the phone. They seem like a good alternative to Samsung I almost got a s21 but went with the OnePlus just to try something different and it payed off

So long as he's using a Exynos model & not a US S7 which are about 50% slower, then the S7 is still a pretty good phone.
I'm still using a Galaxy S7 because I really like it. I actually have newer phones & briefly owned an S21 before giving it away as a gift.
I think I'll continue using this phone for a few more years now. At least until google releases a small non- budget pixel. Like 5.9" would be perfect. Their pixels are massive these days.
This phone has great custom ROM support, you can actually install LineageOS with Android 13 on it which is nice. Though the stock OS is a lot better only issue is missing security updates all modern apps still work.

  • @badluckbiggs

this phone isn't terrible, but the state of app development and software bloating is so bad that this phone is practically useless, I literally need a game booster and RAM limiting apps and tools to use even the most basic of features, it's absolute garbage in terms of today's technology requirements to monitor and record user information, that's basically 99% of what it's power is devoted to.

I have this issue on my galaxy s10. Other seems to take up more than 100 gb of the 128 gb space I have in that phone. There's nothing I was able to do to get that space back so I just got the Galaxy s23 plus 512 gb and it's a beast. But what maybe might work is a factory reset to free up space. Downside to that is that you'll need to download everything again
