    Using my s9 for 4 years now and not planing on change for at least 1 more year. Still an amazing smartphone and perfect for everything I use on a daily basis. Probably will upgrade to the s23 or s24.
    Update: Yesterday (Dec 28th/2023) my s9 screen just burn out of nowhere and to fix it I would pay like 180 usd in my country (Brazil) and I would not get an original samsung super amoled screen, so, no f way I would fix it. So I just upgraded to the s23 512gb in a super sale in Samsung website.

    Watching on my S9+ but I already switched to a base S23 a few weeks back. I still use this for media consumption and games but finance related apps have been ported to the S23. Main reason for upgrading is the lack of software support, battery is down to 65% health, and screen is somewhat reddish tint. I dialed it down to cool and red to the lowest level to somewhat adjust. Overall I do think the hardware is still capable but it is time for an upgrade after 59 months.

  • @brandonwc

    Looking at this because of the "trade in anything" deal right now, but I don't know if I can give up the 3.5mm audio jack on the S9.

      Or the expandable storage. Key features indeed

    • @majkati69
      @majkati69 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I feel it man, another downside with the S23 is that it won't work with just any 3.5mm to Usb-c dongle, it has to have a dac built in. Learnt this the hard way when trying to use my earbuds on my way to work and the phone just said "USB Device not supported". Also, you'd better buy a good dongle cause with the one I'm using currently, my earbuds sound a bit less loud than they were on my old Poco F3, and I'm a bit of a volume junkie. On the bright side however, this is pretty much the only gripe I have with the phone thus far.

    • @majkati69
      @majkati69 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty goofy of Samsung not to include a dongle in the box when they made the choice not to support every 3.5 to USB-C dongle. A decision that no doubt was made due to greed. I love this phone so much but if they continue these anti-consumer business practices and then also revert back to Exynos chips in Europe, it'll be the last flagship I buy from them.

    • @talesin_batbat
      @talesin_batbat 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The 3.5mm jack is also why the S9 can listen to terrestrial radio stations, if you have a wired set of headphones (they act as the antenna). Which can be a neat trick.

  • @videoguy7427

    The s9 is better since it has the sd card and the headphone jack .. why take those away on the new phones also the s9 screen actually has a higher pixels per inch count almost 100 more ppi . Makes no sense why they actual downgrade the display in the newer phones

    I have just upgraded from my s9 to the s23. It's definitely faster and the camera is better. However, I still really prefer my s9 display. It's so sharp. Even after all these years it's still a great display. I also miss the notification led and the swipe on the fingerprint sensor to drop the notification shade though there is a work around for this. The built in heart rate monitor was also handy. If you have a s9 and get gcam port the camera quality still holds very well except though it won't compete in night shorts. I swapped for the s23 because of the battery.

    severely outdated? nah, just outdated. still using the s9 in 2024 and its a solid heater!! lag is here and there but wayyy better than any budget phone you can get now days. if you care about software a lot than yea this phone isn't for you but if you are a basic user, just using for calls and text and light gaming then this phone is great!!! again, that's if you dont mind the setbacks that come with using an older phone. really wish more TH-camrs would start pushing older flagships instead of slow and ugly modern budgets. this phone is solid!!! the one thing that I will warn is battery CAN suck. not always though, if you get a phone that never had a battery replacement or has been heavily used since it came out than yes battery is horrible. other than that. 8.5/10
