I am beyond grateful that my parents adopted me. They went through so much grief losing a child, finding they then could not have a child, then the first adoption attempt having a girl refuse to give up the child they were going to adopt because my mom had one arm, and the girl didn't want a handicapped woman raising her baby. So much heartbreak, but they never gave up trying and I benefited from all that pent up love and hope. My dear mother and father still hoped, and my birth-mother had me and ran away from the hospital without singing the papers, but my parents waited those three long days unsure I would be theirs until she was finally located and finalized the adoption. Adoption is a brave and wonderful thing to do for another human being. People like me depend upon the mercy of birthmothers and couples to love and be generous. Hang in there and keep loving.

Thank you for sharing your story. If more women would realize how much a baby is welcomed and if they cannot raise it that some loving couple is just hoping and praying for the chance to do just that. Abortion is not the answer. Babies need to be loved and welcomed either by their natural parents or those with a heart and love just waiting to do that. ❤🙏

I am looking for people to please take a moment and pray with me for Souls in Purgatory. Can you help?
According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory:
    Eternal Father,
I offer You the most precious blood
    of thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said
    throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
    for sinners everywhere,
for sinners in the universal Church,
for those in my own home,
    and in my family. Amen.

I think this podcast on the sixth commandment
Should be given in every pre-cana before marriage. As a matter of fact the studying of the whole catechism should be a requirements for those seeking the sacrament of marriage. How I wished I would have known all of our faith when I was younger.
Thanks again I can't tell you how much I appreciate this podcast the reading and the kind and gentle explanation you Father Mike give. Blessings 🙏

I was thinking that same thing today. That I would have done things so differently if I had been able to hear today's lesson and the last couple of days about being open to life. I told the man I eventually married on our first date that i was petrified of pregnancy and childbirth but loved the idea of children. But I couldn't see my way to getting over the fear of pregnancy and birth. He married me anyway. We are and always have both been catholic. The priest who married us knew of this fear and married us anyway. Didn't give me any sound advice or thoughts to ponder. We married at the age of 40 and are 51 now. No children. And our sex life has been almost non existent because the few times we did have sex I was a nervois wreck waiting for my period to come. Terrified I might be pregnant. I see now how damaging that was and pray that God and my husband will forgive me. He just got used to not having intimacy because it was too stressful and not worth it. 🙏🏻Now we need that part of our marriage to have healing. 🥺

Today hits close to home. No lack of trying. NfP in reverse, saving sex for only "fertile" days for 18 years. Result- only one child,,special needs, spina bifida and cerebral palsy.
He has grown up to be a wonderful young man, overcoming his disability, now beginning his work history. But our greatest pain is that we were unable to give him a sibling.
I think that is part of why I am so rabidly pro-life.

A child is a gift of God, the supreme gift of marriage. It is the fruit of the conjugal act of its parents. A child has the right to be respected as a person from the moment of its conception. Artificial insemination and artificial procreation are immoral because they disassociate procreation from the act with which the spouses give themselves to each other and so introduce the domination of technology over the origin and destiny of human person. Today we pray for spouses who do not have children that they adopt options that show spiritual fruitfulness viz foster care or adoption. We have been called to love no matter our cross. 🙏

    A Mother’s Prayer
Father in heaven, you speak all things into being. You create life with your words, and they bring light to the darkness.
Lord, bring light to my darkness today. The future can feel scary and is filled with the unknown. When my mind strays to anxious thoughts, light a path back to clarity and peace.
May your light enter our household today and bring understanding. My kids are still learning to trust in you, and I don’t want them to fear the future. Give them peace and clear direction today.
Thank you for answering my children’s prayers. Thank you for the whispered words they say just before bed-so often funny and always heartfelt. Thank you for for putting them in my life.
    In Christ’s name, Amen.❤❤❤

      ❤Opportunity to see God.
      I Choose Peace...
I will live forgiven. I will forgive so I may live.
      I Choose Patience...
I will overlook the inconveniences of the world. Instead of cursing the one who takes my place, I'll invite him to do so, Rather complain that the wait is to long, I will thank God for a moment to pray. Instead of clenching my fist at new assignments, I will face them with joy and courage.
      I Choose Kindness...
I will be kind to the poor, for they are alone. Kind to the rich, for they are afraid. And kind to the unkind, for that is how God has treated me.
      I Choose Goodness...
I will go without a dollar before I take a dishonest one. I will be overlooked before I will boast. I will confess before I accuse. I choose goodness.
      I Choose Faithfulness...
Today I will keep my promises. My debtors will not regret their trust. My friends will not question my word. And my family will not question my love.
      I Choose Gentleness...
Nothing is won by force. I choose to be gentle. If I raise my voice may it only be in praise. If I clench my fist, may it only be in prayer. If I make a demand, may it be only of myself.
      I Choose Self-Control...
I refuse to let what will rot, rule the eternal. I choose self-control. I will be drunk only by joy. I will be impassioned only by my faith. I will be influenced only by God. I will be taught only by Christ. I choose self-control.
Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. To these I commit my day. If I succeed, I will give thanks. If I fail, I will seek His grace. And then when this day is done I will place my head on my pillow and rest.❤

I’m glad Michael goes into the weeds there because I don’t want to but I want to know what’s going on. I’m really disappointed in Bp. Strickland & hope he repents of his disobedience to the Pope. Fr Mike of course, has a temperament that is more excitable and closer to my own! Have to say the contrast is just good! I think you are correct in your conclusion with regard Bishop Strickland. His "fame" must be a real temptation, which doesn't seem to have affected him at all.

Greetings! everyone in the CIY community. Fecundity and that fruitfulness in marriage is the blessing of the children. In marriage there has to be conjugal love. From the moment of conception, the child should be respected as a person. It's a God's blessing and parent-generosity to have a large family. The separation of the procreative act from the unitive act is gravely immoral. If childless adopting or performing services to others is God's blessing. No one has the right to a child only the child possesses genuine rights. Let us pray for each other! Amen.

A child is indeed a gift that parents get due to God's grace and mercy. The objection to the artificial way of becoming parents through he use of labs and a surrogate parent is valid because a child that is formed with a union of parents is definitely dearer to both and becomes a binding glue between them that increases their love and the desire to be together to raise it. I agree that those who can't be parents should adopt those children who have been abandoned or orphaned. This is a way of finding God's grace by being graceful and kind ourselves. The children get parent/s while a person/couple gets much needed child to love. It's not an obligation to have kids, but it's a good way of contributing to society if capable of doing so. I'm glad the Church teaches about responsible parenting! Thank you for this analysis, Fr Mike! I'm praying for you, for Team Ascension, and for the fellow listeners. God bless

Children are a gift and it is really sad that it is not just at conception we can have these thoughts of owning them but in the midst of divorce children are turned into pieces of property. The legal systems terms dehumanizes the children and they are neglected of their needs so to enforce the free will choice of the parent to divorce and all must abide and affirm that choice. I have noticed so many similarities in statements said to encourage divorce abortion contraception and transgenderism from government and mental health professionals as well as good well meaning common folk sadly even those claiming to be catholic in these professions and life. It hurts but I understand some, if not many, of them dont know the truths and that is where the bigger hurt comes in when one informs the church authority in order to correct these misinformed souls and the church authorities chose to let it ride so to not come off as controling or sound like they are picking sides. In their omission they to choose a side and damage the order God has called for. I understand this sounds harsh. Know I state it with love for all as I call hearts to virtue. This is really what has happened to many not just myself.

I am questioning paragraph 2377. Specifically in Vitro. I never considered this to be "morally unacceptable". This saddens me as I know a couple that have had this procedure twice. They are truly good Catholics. Much more so then most people who just show up to do their obligatory duties for the church.( I know that sentence might sound harsh) This couple truly, truly, truly are gifts to the church and I think they would be devasted to learn that having in Vitro is against the church's law. They have two beautiful children. Both are being raised in the faith. The parents support the church, it's teachings and they are active in the community as good stewards. They are the ideal family. Because they were not able to carry a child in utero and chose to save a child (twice) outside of the uterus are they sinners?

Every good Catholic is also a Catholic who has sinned in the past-you and me included! Those children are no less a blessing because they came about by a sin, than our salvation is a blessing because it came about by the sins of the soldiers and pharisees.
But the fact that good often comes out of evil doesn't make a sin not a sin. If nothing else, IVF leaves lots of embryos-tiny human beings-abandoned to an early death. Quite possibly your friends didn't know about that at the time and weren't informed by their (presumably secular) doctor.
If they went through the process without knowing it was against the church's teachings and what it entailed, then they're not culpable of sin; if they did know and did so anyway, then they ought to make a good confession and repent of the sin while rejoicing that God brought the good of their children out of it-they might well have done so already, in fact, since who of us knows what someone else says in confession?
My point is, your friends aren't necessarily bad Catholics just because they committed a sin. "Good Catholic" and "repentant sinner" are the same thing.

I think what is overlooked or not considered is the risk to the children. I personally know a couple who were desperate for children and chose invitro with the husbands' sperm with doner eggs. Implantations did not work on the male fertilized eggs. The final 4 eggs were girls. They were implanted and they all "took". Labor began very early and two died. The other two survived and are handicapped/disabled. This couple refused adoption. I believe a situation like this is why we are not to interfere.@@MySchoolProject15
