So true...I have both a niece & nephew being married within a few months of one another. Both have been living with their partners for a year or two. They both went to Catholic school. Yet neither is having a Catholic marriage. They live in a super progressive area. This is "normal" to them. I do find it sad.

The only thing different is that they both got married in the Catholic church before people were aware that they were with child. Since then both children have been baptized. Both of these couples are in the military and I hope that their marry will remain strong.💛🙏

Let's also acknowledge that the Church's requirement of a 6 month (some places 12 month) engagement prior to marriage is discouraging engaged couples to remain chaste when they're ready to marry each other right now; not 6 or 12 months from now. So true - going through this right now, my youngest son moved in with his girlfriend - very sad for me, didnt want to listen to me, they getting married this Saturday. i pray God forgive him and bless his marriage and let them not be a statistic of the 80% who end up getting divorced. please pray for him and his wife.
The sin of cohabitation (free union) has become as commonly accepted in society, even among Catholics, as the sin of contraception. It is very frustrating to experience even in my own family. I have personally failed in my attempts to explain why it is so wrong. God please bless us, bless our families, forgive us our sins, help us to repent and do better.

Both of my children are autistic. I started homeschooling them last year and they are now thriving but unfortunately my hours to work are limited. I suffered a heart attack two years ago and Im battling lupus Lord I’m overwhelmed please heal me and give me strength. As I struggle to pay my rent each month and as I struggle to buy groceries. Honestly I want to give up. But I know God will make a way. Where there seems to be no way. I have faith! God has not forgotten me. Faith First!

I have been married 55 years. As a young bride, my husband made it clear to me that “ Divorce is not in my lexicon” This made me very secure in his love which has only deepened over our long union. We consider ourselves to be lucky, but it is much more than that. We are happy and blessed because we did it God’s way! ❤️🙏

A trial marriage is an exercise in foolishness - I pray for our daughter every day as she has been cohabiting for several years and will marry an atheist man outside the church in February of next year - there are crosses we all bear - this is one that is heaviest for me 😞❤️🙏✝️
I'm so sorry! I feel your pain as a parent who has watched 2 of my chidren making decisions that are against the commandments but have learned I can't speak of it. In fact my daughter just recently severed us from her family. The son that chooses to live a sinful lifestyle rarely even comes around. Even if we say nothing I think they just don't like the reminder of their sins. They were raised in the Church and Cathoilic schools. It is very heartbreaking.

If a person cannot love forever, that person cannot love even for a day. The trial marriages and live-ins have truly ruined the lives of many people. Emotionally and physically. Especially those who never get to marry and live in a state of uncertainty about their relationship status. Similarly, many marriages or affairs make complications due to one person not being 100% there in a relationship. The children and the spouse suffer. The abuse of young ones is among the worst sins and makes the sinner even worse than an animal. Incest, even with consent, destroys the societal, familial, and human boundaries. Causes many complications. All of this is not just wrong when we think about God but also wrong on logical and moral grounds. There are so many young couples who do not marry, for the sole purpose of receiving financial benefits from the government. It is a sad situation, but our government rewards mothers who are unmarried. It is time for the church to stand up against this, and make this known. Many African tribes have a centauries' old tradition of polygamy. AND many tribes demand that a woman proves her fertility before she is considered marriageable. So where does one go from there?
We are to spread the Gospel to all nations. That’s my take. I imagine if thru no fought of their own they never hear the Gospel message, as stated in the CCC, that is a different response.

So I was having a conversation with a loved one about homosexuality ...the catholic church calls those with same sex attraction to live a chaste life ....she said I don't think God wants us to be unhappy ? I didn't have the words to respond? Also I shared that when we sin our sin is never just personal but always affects others ...she responded how can a homosexual couple living together adversely affect others ? Again I didn't have the right words to respond 😕....any help ?
God never said we would be happy in this life - no where can I recall in the Bible does God every promise happiness - happiness is of the world, and joy is knowing, loving and serving God in this world and in eternal life - and that entails agape love - dying to oneself love, self-sacrificial love and not self-centered pleasure seeking love that is exhibited not only in same sex attraction but also in heterosexual couples cohabiting without being married. It is foolishness.
I have a question. If a man is married within the church and not within the state, but his wife loses no essential rights from this lack of "legal marriage" (other than the right to legally divorce him), is that a sin. It seems to me that an arragement in witch the sacramental husband, by not being legally married, couldnt divorce wouldnt be an issue. But is that a sin against trust. After seeing so many men losing homes, children and life savings from divorce, is it lawfull for him not want to give this weapon to his wife (women initiate the vast majority of divorces)? We live in a society in witch a "baby daddy" has superior legal protection than an "ex husband".

I went ahead to the marriage part I know divorce is not good but what happens when a father doesn't want to take responsibility Voorhees children and is addicted or physically abusive they separate but there is no guarantee set the children will be taken care of I know there is annulment but that is a little confusing I watched an hour long class. There are so many young couples who do not marry, for the sole purpose of receiving financial benefits from the government. It is a sad situation, but our government rewards mothers who are unmarried. It is time for the church to stand up against this, and make this known. Please Father Mike, help our society to address this!

Many African tribes have a centauries' old tradition of polygamy. AND many tribes demand that a woman proves her fertility before she is considered marriageable. So where does one go from there?
We are to spread the Gospel to all nations. That’s my take. I imagine if thru no fought of their own they never hear the Gospel message, as stated in the CCC, that is a different response.
The missionary mandate. “Having been divinely sent to the nations that she might be ‘the universal sacrament of salvation,’ the Church, in obedience to the command of her founder and because it is demanded by her own essential universality, strives to preach the Gospel to all men”:* “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and Lo, I am with you always, until the close of the age.”* - I Believe in the Holy Catholic Church, CCC 849

So I was having a conversation with a loved one about homosexuality ...the catholic church calls those with same sex attraction to live a chaste life ....she said I don't think God wants us to be unhappy ? I didn't have the words to respond? Also I shared that when we sin our sin is never just personal but always affects others ...she responded how can a homosexual couple living together adversely affect others ? Again I didn't have the right words to respond 😕....any help ?
God never said we would be happy in this life - no where can I recall in the Bible does God every promise happiness - happiness is of the world, and joy is knowing, loving and serving God in this world and in eternal life - and that entails agape love - dying to oneself love, self-sacrificial love and not self-centered pleasure seeking love that is exhibited not only in same sex attraction but also in heterosexual couples cohabiting without being married. It is foolishness.

I have a question. If a man is married within the church and not within the state, but his wife loses no essential rights from this lack of "legal marriage" (other than the right to legally divorce him), is that a sin. It seems to me that an arragement in witch the sacramental husband, by not being legally married, couldnt divorce wouldnt be an issue. But is that a sin against trust. After seeing so many men losing homes, children and life savings from divorce, is it lawfull for him not want to give this weapon to his wife (women initiate the vast majority of divorces)? We live in a society in witch a "baby daddy" has superior legal protection than an "ex husband".

I went ahead to the marriage part I know divorce is not good but what happens when a father doesn't want to take responsibility Voorhees children and is addicted or physically abusive they separate but there is no guarantee set the children will be taken care of I know there is annulment but that is a little confusing I watched an hour long class. If I'm not mistaken there are valid reasons for annulment if I'm not mistaken in that case you may remarry

I suggest that you say relationships in Christ are acceptable before a God that they can see as Christ incarnate. Why can’t you just say it father when two people come to you for marriage preparation? Do you take them to the confessional before you interview Christi Persona

Everything you are saying is true, but it is of this world without Christ. You need to say that when two people come together as one flesh and you suspect that it is carnal do you challenge them and ask them if they had Christ in their lives in their marriage of one flesh.
