God is the source of all truth made manifest by Jesus. All of those who follow Him are called to sincerity and truthfulness in acting and speaking. Everyone has the duty to seek the truth, to adhere to it, and to order one's whole life in accordance with its demands. As Christians, we must bear witness to the truth of the Gospel in every field of his activity, both public and private, and also, if necessary, with the sacrifice of his very life. Martyrdom is the supreme witness given to the truth of the faith.

In these times of looking for external validation, social acceptance, and a competition to be popular, this analysis reminds us to stay true to Jesus and God instead of conforming to the world and faking a life. The mention of the sin of scandal is perfect. We must not live a life that is not true. Whenever we fake a life, it only leads to further confusion and diversion from our life's true path. It leads to acedia as well because by following a fake life, we might do the things that we are not supposed to do. Martyrdom is the best example of staying true to the truth. The hypothetical situation of Christianity & Catholicism becoming illegal helps us to realize that we must live the Gospel and not just study or pray it. We must also not hide our faith whenever we are asked. It reminds me of Nicodemus and how he followed Jesus but couldn't publicly declare that he was a follower. If we live truthfully, we can get the help we want and many right doors will open. May we all be brave enough to be true and may we be strong in faith. Amen. Thank you so much for this analysis, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension. I'm praying for you and for the fellow listeners. God bless

Have spent the last 30 plus years trying to change my life for the better. To try and live the way I was meant to live. The way God wanted me to live. Spent so much wasted time trying to do it all alone and didn't even realize it.... I knew I was a sinner... Spent years like someone going up a very large mountain carrying a sack full of rocks on my back. I couldn't let go of the bag of rocks no matter how hard I tried....The bag was a metaphor ofcourse. A bag full of my mistakes and many sins. Would go to reconciliation, confess my sins and still carry them like a a poor imitation of a martyr. Had no idea how much God loved me. I was trying so hard to change my life all by myself. A good friend and mentor of mine had said to me that my sins are not beyond Gods mercy. Jesus had already died for me. For you. The mercy of God is far more beautiful then we know. or could ever understand. I still have a long way to go to understand this. Will be forever grateful to this priest Father Ed. My he rest in the peace of God.
Helped me to see I can't do it on my own. That I'm a sinner that God loves. He loves me in spite of my short comings. That is the truth. Jesus have mercy on me a poor sinner......

We are called to live in the truth and bear witness to it. To walk in truth, grace and love. Say simply "yes" or "no".
Our mind is made for the truth and its only in our weakness that we choose things which are not the truth. Truth is *what is* - the reality. We are obliged to bear witness to what is. Its a challenge to live in the truth as disciples of Jesus. To live life differently in bearing witness to Jesus even unto death. If not *red* then we must live as *white martyrs* drop by drop on a daily basis.❤

Please, I am looking for people to take a moment and pray with me for Souls in Purgatory. Can you help?
According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory:
    Eternal Father,
I offer You the most precious blood
    of thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said
    throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
    for sinners everywhere,
for sinners in the universal Church,
for those in my own home,
    and in my family. Amen.
In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)

I can completely agree with this commandment in so far as it follows truth.
Where I fall down is on discretion. I have trouble reconciling secrecy with truth.
This has especially come to a head in the last three pontificates as truth once kept secret, has been revealed to be secrets imprudently kept, causing the four forms of clerical abuse when the abuse could have been stopped before great harm was done.
The concept of the sin of detraction, in its avoidance, often also leads to a lack of truth.
Hopefully these will become more clear in the coming days.

    • @TrixRN
      @TrixRN ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, hiding crimes is not living in the truth. They weren’t being discrete they were hiding crimes. I would think discretion has more to do with protecting people from unnecessary hurt, more for subjective truth than objective. The example he gave illustrates that.
Have you heard of Corrie ten Boom? Her family hid Jews during the war. If people asked they always lied & said no they weren’t hiding them. They eventually were betrayed, arrested, & sent to a concentration camp where all of her family died but her. She relates the story of her aunt’s family. They also hid Jews, but when confronted they admitted the truth. They were all arrested. That night the resistance broke into the jail & smuggled them all out to England. They didn’t spend one full night imprisoned. Corrie said make of that what you will & decide your actions. They made a movie about Corrie’s family, The Hiding Place.

God is the source of all truth! When he was on trial for his life Jesus spoke some words which give an answer to this question. He said in John 18:37, "For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Every one who is of the truth hears my voice."
But how many times do I hold back because I don’t think it will make a difference. How many conversations have I not had, because I don’t think it will make a difference. Because I don’t think it will produce those results, I don’t speak. But there is power in the truth. And the nature of my calling is to be a faithful witness, to make the good confession no matter what the results. If we have spoken the truth we have been successful
God wants to use you to give voice to the truth. And the focus must be on faithfulness. As we faithfully give voice to the truth, like a sword coming out of our mouth (Revelation 1:6), truth conquerers. So let us be filled with, love for God and speak the truth.

I don't know, personally I don't find the statement that there are things like "my truth" and "your truth" helpful. Truth is truth. If the subject is something about me, it can be different from something about someone different, but it's still simply true or false. Not subjectively/objectively or so. "What is" or "what isn't".

CAUTION- please don’t teach our young people that “subjective truth” is such a thing. It is called OPINION. Only GOD is TRUTH.
This is important because Satan is having a field day manipulating words in our culture. Another example is the word LOVE which wills the good. Our young people must understand the meaning of these words so that they are armed with the knowledge to defend themselves from evil.

    • @TrixRN
      @TrixRN ปีที่แล้ว +3

So true! To call an opinion subjective truth muddies the water. Words are being redefined left & right every day. If words are too elastic in their meaning it prevents thinking clearly & you get the errors you see today, ie “I feel like a woman” said by a man. Saying “love is love” opens society up to all sorts of obscene acts, not just homosexual.

Believing in a god, a supernatural being, does not correspond to reality. It is therefore not true.
Having beliefs does correspond to reality. However, the contents of those beliefs either correspond to reality or don't.

Your assertion that the existence of God “doesn’t correspond to reality” is itself quite dogmatic. Unless of course you have absolute proof; which I don’t think is the case, as many atheist philosophers, more clever than you and myself, desperately tried to find one and failed.
Your approach is also self defeating - the fact that you believe that God doesn’t exist doesn’t make your (dis)belief true.
I wish you the best in your search for truth.

@@jamesmcgrath3841it’s likely because he is feeling better off in the place he is now looking back at the faith in anger and distrust because a few bad apples spoiled it for him- he obviously doesn’t want to open up that can of worms to see how God just might be speaking to his heart because it’s just that painful to him- therefore the only way he knows how to express himself here is in this way-which helps him cope either way with what he dealt with from “authoritarian” people who raised him. It gives him the power now that they attempted to strip him of.
      It’s all a defense mechanism.
