this is such a cute terarium for your string of turtles I hope to see more growth the next time you update . I was laughing at you trying to fit the driftwood as in not giving up then you finally decided that nope its not going to work.
Thank you so much! I was really worried that they were toast but sphagnum was a mircle worker! They've adjusted well to the jar and are still growing like crazy thankfully!
Thank YOU Julie for watching! Yes it totally worked!! I just made sure it was nice and moist and put it under a grow light and it took off! I've currently experimenting with other plants in sphagnum vs. Water for propagation so time will tell! 😀
Thank you Mary! LOL I wish I would have recorded John's face when I told him that it wasn't short enough! I figured eye balling it was good enough but apparently not! 😂😂
That is seriously one of the worst videos I've seen on TH-cam. Some of the info was just straight wrong. I seriously don't think beginners should listen to this advice at all
Well I wouldn't say it's the worst, I've seen some pretty bad videos before. What info was wrong? I've never claimed to be an expert and am just learning as I go along so let me know what I should have done differently? On the plus side, my plant is doing amazingly and have rooted in nicely.
Omg they did amazing in sphagnum moss!! I’m getting some in in a few days, I’ll be propping my 🐢 in that. What is the strength of your light? I had mine originally under my grow strips, but it was too strong, turning the edges brown
Yes they did! They, hands down, did the best in sphagnum!! The light I had them under was about 10 inches from the container and is just a a 3500K shop light. :)
Thanks for this idea! My turtle babies were doing fine until their last watering, & my cat knocked the cup down the other day(the 2in pot like yours were in, & in a Starbucks frap cup) & I noticed today they're dying. I'm going to inspect them now bc the soil is so wet. I know I didn't over water. Anyway, I'll replant in sphagnum if they look super bad. Then into a terrarium!
How is the terrarium looking now after 4 months, please, can you update. Also can you please explain a bit more how damp / wet the moss was as they do rot so easily....
Sorry for the delayed response! They are doing fantastic! You want to make sure that the moss is damp and not wet. If it's sopping wet, they can rot a lot easier. I also had mine under a grow light and on a seedling heat mat which I think helped balance out the moisture to prevent any rot.
girl i feel ya! i had a baby from a plant swap and it totally didnt make it!! but i just got a new baby in the mail today, im so stoked! from hearing your experience im thinking of putting a glass dome on it. and i just wanted to say im a total jar hoarder too lol
Could you update us with another video please. They are adorable in that jar!
I absolutely will! I haven't had a chance to film during this quarantine but will hopefully resume filming soon!

Good luck!! Putting the turtles in the jar was the best thing that I could've done for them! They are filled the jar that they are in!!
So cute !! How are they doing ? I want to do this as well 😊
They are doing fantastic! The jar is completely filled! I'll be posting an update video soon hopefully!
Any updates? I wonder how did the SOT did ...
Ive got an update filmed. I just need to get it edited. They are doing great!!
How long did you have them in the to go container?
About 4-6 weeks
Did you water or mist them while they were in the sphagnum moss?
Please do an update!
I've been unable to film lately but I just posted an update on IG. I will do an update video as soon as I'm able 😘
