I certainly will thanks for asking Katie, so glad you’re into it! 😊💜 It’s been almost 2 weeks since filming this and so far I got a little bit of die-off of the single leaves i sprinkled on top- some of them got moldy (i think because peperomia is so juicy) but i picked them out and it’s looking pretty much the same still, not appearing to be drying out yet… I really hope it grows in all nice and I can show you a beautiful update in a future video 😊🤞💜💜✨
Turtles are actually one of my houseplants that does the best! I keep mine in a north facing window and only water when the leaves are concave on the underside (NOT all the way flat) I’ve gotten an insane amount of new growth and it’s actually flowering right now!
I love this sponsor esp since you had the turtles to rescue at the same time! Too good of timing!! I live in Canada, my ambient humidity right now is 67% and come winter it will be around 32%. I do supplement in winter but unless I want to leave the humidifier on constantly I can only get it to about 40 percent. Well I could raise it through the whole house if I want to buy humidifiers for every single room but that would get really expensive fast! Anyway, my plants might get a bit crispy when the transition happens bc its super fast like it might go from 60 to 45 over a day or so and its hard on the skin and hair and of course the plants, but they always jump right back into it and keep growing! I did lose calathea last year but it was a heat and humidity combo and the fact I kept moving them to try and find the perfect spot while they were freaking out. I think if I had just left them they would have been fine... That to say, your plants can def grow in low humidity without a terrarium!!! They adjust just like people do!
Thank you for doing a turtle video. I’ve been trying to grow one for so long. I’ve killed many, but I’m finally having a bit of success right now. I bought FOUR and was determined to figure it out with at least one of them. Part of my problem is trying to untangle all of the strings to see where they are all growing from, but I now know to let them do their own thing. What’s in your ultimate potting soil that you’re looking for? Please share if you find it. 😊
hi Kelly thanks for watching! 😊💜🐢✨ooh yeah this plant can be really tricky because it’s fragile but doesn’t seem like it would fall apart so easily. I hope this one works out for you!! 💜 I will keep updating on the soil hunt…I’m looking for something affordable that has multiple components like cococoir and wood chips and that doesn’t smell weird😅 but I should probably just get a big container and make a mix I like 👩🔬🪨 thanks for asking! have a great week!✨✨
I enjoy watching you with your plants, I'm into plants now to and have to be easy on myself if they either don't make it. I love the look you gave your turtles.
Thanks so much for watching 💜 I’m so glad you enjoy these videos and like my turtles!😊✨✨ Some plants just cycle through and that’s okay, more important to prioritize speaking kindly to yourself 🥰💜💜✨ have a great week!
I love your positive and calm energy. I really like how knowledgeable you are and how genuinely passionate you are about all your plants! Your turtles look great. Looking forward to an update!
So glad you covered the turtle plant. I bought one a few months ago and the overhanging stems would break off. Love the way yours turned out and I'm shopping on Amazon right now for a more shallow and wide pot to help them out. Will give your set up a try and the plastic wrap. This 100 degree SoCal dry heat is a killer.
Your String of Turtles looks so much better already!! The glasses look great on you!! I have progressive lenses in mine, which is like a trifocal, so idk if they can do that... I have a String of Hearts, two String of Pearls (one is variegated), and I took one stem of a String of Bananas, cut it into three sections and am waiting for them to grow long enough to cut and propagate again. I need to trim my String of Hearts since it's almost touching the ground! I think I'm going to video it, since I've already done a couple of plant videos on my channel... Thanks for sharing!! 💜💚🍃🌵
Thanks Sharon!💜😊 I need to do my hearts too, and should probably propagate my little string of dolphins which morphed into what look like bananas at some point haha thx for the reminder Hope you have a great week!💜✨
This is a wish list plant of mine for sure! I have a thing for plants named after animals or food. The turtle would be so cute next to my string if Dolphins and alocasia stingray. My own little ocean corner 😊😂 Can't wait to see how yours does over the next little while!
Going to steal your idea for turtles in a shallower pot and mounded. I love the way it looks. I have a beautiful one right now hanging about a foot. So far so good. I put my string of in a tall wine glass or candle holder to raise them up so they hang. Thrifted of course. Now I’ll need to buy another one and try your idea. Love your content. 💚🇨🇦
That looks so cute! I actually love that shallow bowl. I think this will work. After losing a few peperomia, I now have found great success. My learned secret? Bottom watering, it really works!! LoL
My string of turtles also can't grow very long, the strands sometimes break off. I thought I was doing something wrong! I did something fun though, I made a turtle pot in ceramics class. It still needs to be fired, but I am sooo so excited to put my turtles in the turtle pot!
I propagate my string ofs by laying them on a thin layer of moss with a thin layer of perlite at the bottom. It tends to root like a sheet that way. It makes it easier to transplant! I also use a shallow take out container so that I can hold the humidity in! Good luck!!
I just love this plant. I currently have them sitting in a plastic tray in Leca to root and have been looking for something to pot them up in. This was a great idea
As morbid as it sounds, the dead turtles from the live turtles made me cackle. Thinking of someone listening with no context made me laugh every time you said it. Great video as always!
hahahah it’s bad lolol I was laughing so hard but also got worried I would make people uncomfortable while editing the video and hearing myself say “dead turtle” for about the 500th time…my face while editing like 😧😐🤣😩🤭🥹😲🫠 hahaha I’m glad you thought it was funny I feel relieved 😅💜✨✨ thanks so much for watching!!💜
Hi mattboney 😊💜 my hoyas are all spread out around my house but they’re all alive and growing!! I have been thinking of making another hoya video soon so I’ll bump it up the priority list, thanks for asking :)💜✨
I have grown my SOT pretty long. But the turtles are tiny at the end. So I am considering cutting it shorter. I’m so afraid to cause it’s one of my most prized plants. 😅
I guess I gave up on my string of turtles, and gave them away. Like you described they didn't really hang nicely and the turtles at the ends of the vines were so small. If I had thought about the prostrata part of the name I might have changed my expectations. I hope others get wind of this so they don't do what I did. I have heard of alot of utubers complaining and getting rid of theirs because of expecting a different look from them.
thanks for sharing this Kristie!💜✨ this is how I felt about mine at first too! my hoarding tendancies stopped me from getting rid of the turtles lol but it’s totally understandable that this is a plant that doesn’t always meet expectations🐢✨ thanks for watching, have a great week!💜😊
I can't wait to see this hanging out of the pot. I have one, but is struggling to grow. I will change the pot to see if something work 😅 greetings from Lima-Perú
Great video, Kaitlyn! I don't have a String of Turtles but I do have a String of Pearls. So far, it's been relatively easy to care for and continues to lengthen. I just got myself my first ever bag of Perlite to repot my Monstera Delicioso but am now intrigued by the coco coir you used. I'm going to look into that. Thanks for all the information! Save the turtles!!!
Just came across your channel. Im looking to rescue my string of turtles. Love the new looks. Is there an update?? My wheels are turning on what i should use for mine. Its in a tiny terracota pot but i got it in spaghnum and i just laid it in dirt. I didnt want to disturb the roots but i guess i am now.
I started embracing my mistakes, because every time I screw up, I learn a little something new. So the more mistakes I make, the more knowledgeable I become🤓🧠
I do need to repot my turtles. Thanks for the reminder. I'll do that tomorrow. I'm at work atm so they're going to have to survive a day more. Love you videos!! You are one of my favorites to watch. I hope you have a great day!! Much love from the Puget Sound
ohhh I love your new glasses frames! The transparent ones are really nice on you as well, but the way they fit your nose isn't ideal, hence why they always slide down. As an optician I always get really excited when people I watch get new glasses 😂 ANNND I just got a baby pot of turtles and am in need of care tips, so this video is perfect for me in every way😊!

yay you are most welcome!💜 happy turtle-ing!! 😊🎉🐢🐢🐢🌟
I love the pot and the way the string of turtles plant looks in it. It's going to look even better when it mounds a bit more. So cute!
yay thanks for watching Mary I’m so glad you like it!!🥰💜 i’m excited for it to fill in too🐢✨✨ have a great week!

When you started I though “just throw that thing out!” Now I love the way it looks! ❤😂
I have string of turtles in almost every plant pot because they break off and whatever plant I'm standing by when I see it gets some tossed in 😀
