Even though the screen is 1080p, it still far superior. Far better colour accuracy, better brightness, better HDR, and it's 120hz vs 60 on the s8.

S8 also has push-to-unlock the screen option, which I found very useful. Also S8 has aptX BT, while S21 only allows you to use SBC. S8 is also notably lighter and fits better in hand cause it's longer and thinner. Also S8 has a dedicated led indicator for missed calls/messages, it is so useful! All these things I was using and got used to are now gone. And Samsung offers impractical options instead. Shall I even start talking about no charger in the package. Even cable in the package is type-c to type-c, so It's not even USB3 to type-c, so you can't use it with old charger. I'm furious how Samsung S21 turns out to be a ridiculous scam. They just take the good things and remove them and what they give you in return?! A bigger camera?! Its a joke.

For a 4 year old phone it still holds its own the S8 I gotta say. Sure the S21 is definitely faster but nothing crazy enough to spend almost 2 grand on the new S21 when next year it's just going to get replaced again with the S22. I just upgraded to the S21 Ultra with 512g since my S8 Active is getting a little long in the tooth but it performs well. I have a 128gb SD card and I was hoping that the S21 would've kept that going as well as the jack feature and that's why I'm keeping it. I also still have my S6 Active and still performs great during this time as well. Only complaint that I have with it that they did away the SD card slot for it. The main reason I kept it was because of it's built in IR feature, to be able to have universal control over any TV that I wish. The S6 was the last phone to have that. It's nice to have that feature in some public places.

It really is the nice higher res screen on the S8 that I liked over my S21, the one thing they should've kept. For some reason, my S8 photo's came out better than the ones on the S21 as well, with more vibrant colors and slightly better contrast, but that might've been a lucky fluke I had on the lense, or some change to the software (filters probably) that just doesn't work as well for me.

I was heartbroken when my S8 failed on me, I run it for 6 months after the phone speaker failed, taking all calls on loud speaker because I really didn't want to get rid of it. I replaced it last week with the S21, but the S8 was sooo good. As a phone the S8 did everything I wanted it to. Even with 4 years of use constant use and taking tens of thousands of photos, I never maxxed out my SD card + internal memory (192gb) so I'm not too bothered by the lack of SD slot, although nice, not essential.

The performance comparisons tend to be quite tricky because many apps can't really utilize the newest CPU fully, however, S21 will be substantially faster when you reach the 4 Gigs of RAM limit on the S8. One of the reasons why S8 isn't sufficient to me anymore because I'm always at the peak and the phone is very laggy (very)

I'll stick with my S8 I paid off years ago, over taking 2 years of HIGH monthly payments for "cutting edge technology". The S8 is fine. Why would I waist my $ for a phone that is hardly any different. Sure, the specs are vastly different, but when it boils down to use, it feels and operates no differently. Specs are just another sales pitch.

Lol you kinda contradicted yourself saying the specs are vastly different but the phone is hardly different. It can't be both of those its either the phones are alike or they aren't alike and I have the s21 and was playing on an s8 and I can tell you BIG difference. Especially if battery life is important..the s8 got maybe 3-4 hours max screen on time while my s21 gets around 9-10 hours of screen on time..plus security updates are worth the upgrade because a phone that no longer receives them can have their information hacked easily. Now I agree paying alot of money for a phone when you have a working phone is a reason to hold back but I had a working moto g power and when the fingerprint sensor started not working right as well as the phone getting stuck on a black screen I splurged for the s21 and there is no way I could go back to an older/slower phone now.

Just upgraded my S8 to S21 and after a few weeks Ive gotten over the major concerns I had. 1. No headphone jack - using an adapter is not bad, I just leave it attached to the headphones and it has not been as inconvenient as I expected. 2. No micro SD card slot - for me not an issue becuae I have plenty of storage on the device 256GB. It was a must with the 64 GB S8 to extend the total storage but even then you couldnt get 256GB on the S8 (I dont think). Cloud storage is the future anyways. 3. Screen - I still feel like the S8 is the better looking phone and miss the screen. The S21 screen seemed washed out when I first got it compared to the S8 but ive gotten used to it. Hopefully the lower res S21 screen is in favor of improved battery life (the main reason I had to upgrade my S8). Plus Verizon gave me $799 for my S8 and the S21 was only $850 😁😁

Coming from a s7 with QHD resolution I can say the difference in crispiness is really noticable. I would take QHD 60hz over 1080p 120hz any day. Hell I would even trade my s21 8g of ram with 4 GB of RAM and an old 765 Snapdragon without 5g if it meant getting QHD back at 60 Hz. You only really notice the 120hz when scrolling In the main menu (which you only really spend 5% of your time on your phone), in most apps 120hz is not that significant, so although 120hz is nice to have i really donc find it to be that significant. I went In the settings to set a 60hz refresh to save on battery life. All the other cuts Samsung made on the s21 I can happily live with but lowering that QHD res was a big mistake in my opinion.

I have an S21 Ultra and I really like it. I personally like the curved edges, but I know a lot of people don't. I will say though, that the curved edges aren't great with the optional S-pen that I got for my S21 Ultra. Also, when it comes to gaming performance you can't just put two games next to each other and look at them and then say one's faster. There is a lot going on in the background that needs to be taken into consideration. Also, the high refresh rate is going to make the games smoother, and the faster processor will make the games have more frames per second, especially if you're playing for a long period of time. I'm assuming that if you played the same game on each of those phones for 30 minutes straight, the S21 would have sustained better performance throughout for a longer amount of time. Now, I will admit that the S21 series was somewhat boring, but as one who got the S21 Ultra, I can say that they did a great job fixing and making better the features and failures of last year's S20 series. In regards to the plastic back on the S21, the S21 costs $200 less than last year's S20, so I definitely think it was worth it. Plus, the plastic doesn't look cheap in my opinion.

WAY higher resolution screen, better build quality, expandable storage, it still has MST which was eliminated from the whole S21 family, Samsung Daily is more useful than Samsung Free, there's actually a freaking headphone jack, and not having a punch hole in the display means that games like Mario Kart Tour and Shadowgun Legends actually take up the whole screen instead of having a nasty black bar on one side.
It doesn't have the newest Android, but that also means it doesn't have scoped storage breaking things.

@@i_love_games110 this is about the S21, not the Ultra... and the S21 has worse resolution than the S8. As for the black bar, the one on the S8 is actually a couple mm smaller than the black bar imposed by any non-supported app displayed on the S21 family, but the bigger point I was making was the impact to symmetry... which is much more drastic on the S21 family compared to the 8 family.

What is "good" to everyone is subjective. Samsung needs to please the majority crowd. Although they got rid of some seemingly important features, the S20 broke previous sales records and so did the S21.
In order to make a phone more powerful with more battery life, they need to make compromises in space.
Also, samsung is giving away galaxy buds pro for free for the first month or so of S21 sales. They also decreased the price $200 cheaper than the S20, giving you enough room spending room to upgrade to higher storage options, as well as buying a charger
