      The Tommy Edison Experience how do you do things like scratch mosquito bites or pop pimples without harming yourself? I have tried to pop acne without a mirror but it always ends up a bloody mess. How do you avoid over scratching mosquito bites because if I'm not paying attention, I'll have a layer of skin gone. I'll look down at what I've been scratching and realized that it'll hurt later, but it didn't hurt when I was scratching it. Also, what's your concept of mirrors?

    I love the fact that some fans have delivered stuff that Tommy himself couldn't imagine how they would look like using only his own mind. Like the 3D drawing on that paper, or the car/ airplane or even the shark.. I mean who can touch a shark on daily basis..? Make more of these :)

    • @emmax9514
      @emmax9514 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I agree but also disagree. The 3D drawing part was a pretty incredible idea and the braille note was very heartfelt but I also loved certain elements of the last one as well like the little sparkly peacock

    • @gabichri
      @gabichri 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah tbf.. I watched the last one and realised that there were some very good ones aswell. Other than that, it's awesome to see fans sending stuff that we/Tommy have talked about. Like not knowing how certain object "look like" because they're to big and therefore he can't feel the entire thing.. so instead they send him 3D made objects like a car etc. which then helps him visualize how the object looks like, I love that so much :)

      There's actually a website that does that, like GI Joe action figures with your face. I bookmarked it on my old phone and don't have it anymore. But I found out about it from a "D.O.N.G." video here on youtube, you would have to search through their videos to find it.

    • @MsHojat
      @MsHojat 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      _At least the ones I've heard of,_ you need to get 3D scanned. It's expensive, since between the 3D scanning and the good quality 3D printer, manual smoothening, and hand-painting, it takes a lot of resources to do well.
      I don't know if it's a couple hundred or a couple thousand dollars, but either way it's really pricey.

    • @charlieme5150
      @charlieme5150 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Adam Děkan don't remember how much they charged for the one I'm talking about but it wasn't thousands. just remember it would require you to upload a front view picture and a side view of your face and they would work off of that, I'll see if I find that website.

    Isnt this just a beautiful proof of how our perception of the concept of "seeing" is not just limited to the optical spectrum, but we consider that word to be a representation of aquiring knowledge and understanding of something as well.
    What a beautiful man, who sheds light on the most unexpected things.

    • @MsHojat
      @MsHojat 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think another thing that could work even better, is Tommy trying a VR headset (ex. GearVR/Rift).
      At first that might sound ridiculously absurd, however with the right application, he'd be able to experience truly 3D audio, which has been unavailable to everyone until VR headsets came along (even though it could have been done much earlier than the visual headsets).
      That said, I'm not sure if there are any viable experiences that would showcase that effect well enough to be worth it.
      There are other audio experiences that one can do though, such as *Papa Sangre,* an audio-only game that runs on Apple devices.

    I feel like the human brain is so trained to see faces in everything, even the most simplified version of them, so with things like the facial profile or the shark there wasn't a ton of detail needed for us to understand it, whereas tommy wouldn't think that you can just gloss over the most detailed part of the human body like that. Or at least that's my idea. I thought this was really cool.

    Seeing those 3D doodled images really makes me want to get out and 3d print some things for Tommy to have. I was thinking I could send an object in full 3d, and then a few different views.

    I have a question, are papers with Braille marked in any way to indicate which way is the right side up? Or do you just start reading the text to figure out if it isn't upside down?

    • @TheFlabadu
      @TheFlabadu 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I guess looking for a sign would be longer than to just touch the written part of the paper, so it wouldn't be necessary.

    • @joost199207
      @joost199207 7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      He seems to read braille pretty fast, so i guess he can immediately feel if the letters are upside down/ unrecognizable.

    • @Humineral
      @Humineral 7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      You can just look for the side the letters are hugging, text is usually aligned to the left.

      google images for "braille alphabet", and have a look at them, very few letters can be turned upside down to form new letters. R turns into W and vice versa (obviously), X remains X, T remains T, thats it really, probably Mr Louis Braille factored this in when creating/refining the system.

    This really warms my heart! I think it's so awesome that there are people willing to make and send you things to explain concepts that only a sighted person could normally fathom, such as drawing a 3D object in 2D. There are some good people left in this world. I think it's so important that whenever possible we find ways to help you understand something from a sighted perspective while you teach us so much about your blind world and how you view and experience it! This is my favorite video so far!

      @evilplaguedoctor5158 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      DForum, yes it can, but you won't find to many strictly audio systems that use it, it's main use is for Visual, with the audio added in to make it a one cable solution.

    • @zan3958
      @zan3958 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      EvilPlagueDoctor That's good then. If he has a blu-Ray or DVD player, he can just use the HDMI to connect it. He still uses a lot of things one would consider 'visual' like the fore mentioned products

    The person who sent the "3D" drawings was really thoughtful - fun idea for a tactile gift! It blows my mind that someone who has never had vision might struggle with the concept of three-dimensional objects depicted in 2D. Great to see Tommy enjoy that.
