I always find it interesting how Tommy uses phrases like “that’s what that looks like?” and “I’ve never seen one of those before!”
It really shows how we always speak in terms of sight that it makes more sense grammatically for Tommy to describe sensing something through his other senses as “seeing” them than to use either the word for another sense or a general term like “I’ve never sensed that before”.
Austin saying “I’ve never sensed that before” would make him sound like a mystic or something I feel like he should say in terms of feeling

Bambi c Either he had a special scrapbooking printer that cuts things, or he printed it out and poked holes manually I'm guessing
Sorry for the late response. All I did was print off the drawings and taped them on Index cards. Then I took a needle and started stabbing the lines.
In Tommy's defense, those animals are extremely cartoonish versions of themselves so he can't be blamed for guessing incorrectly. A lot of them look nothing like their real-life counterparts. It's amazing that he got any correct just from learning the attributes of different animals over the years, considering he's never seen any of these and would only have had the opportunity to touch a select few of them in person.
My thoughts exactly! And also, he actually did guess many of them, just not at the correct time/with the correct animal :P He did way better than I ever would.
I doubt he needs you to defend him. He is a fully grown man

I couldn't tell what the iguana was at all, and I doubt I would have been able to figure out the kangaroo or the beaver either.

Fast forward five years to Tommy arguing with someone about how beavers are made of hard plastic.
They’re not funky pops, they’re LPS, made by a different company (and definitely a lot older) to be fair, they are a little unrealistic but I think it was just the ones she sent, she sent pretty similar ones

I've gotta say, I was really impressed by the littlest pet shop animal guesses, given how abstract they were. Some of those I couldn't identify with the power of sight ;)

In many ways, Tommy was correct that the hard drive initially felt like a turntable. It's essentially the same idea but on a smaller and more digital scale.

@@nerysghemor5781 Mark my words, tapes will come back in some form or another for some very specific task. Their surface area is gigantic, even the old tapes had quite a large capacity for what they are, within gigabyte range If I remember right (VHS).

Those animals seem pretty difficult since they're cartoony versions of the animal and not scaled properly

I grew up collecting and playing with these "little animal figures" and I remember feeling so weirded out how many adults weren't able to regognize these animals. To me they have always been really clear. And still are. Like that one is clearly a pig and that one is clearly a Pug. I can even regognize the different dog and cat breeds.
I guess it is just what we are used to seeing. Since I have been looking at these toys for a long time the style of these pets has stuck with me. All of them have this big wide head and big eyes and from there you just look at everything else to identify it. Still don't completely get how people can't regognize some of them lol. Even the obivous ones. :D

Hey Tommy, you should see if Rhett and Link (a duo of youtube personalities) will feature you on their youtube show, Good Mythical Morning (GMM). They do a bunch of crazy stuff, like "Smelling" Bees, and other cool, weird challenges. You totally have the perfect personality for it and I feel like GMM fans would love it if you were on the show. 😃

The one thing I appreciate is his love for the feel of objects. We don't really think that way at all and when he says it, it seems so odd but its also very amazing. I love these videos so much.

I bet at this age theres a chance he (and other blind) would go crazy. Colours, depth, shades... All into an undeveloped part of his brain. What a headache! Maybe for kids and teens could work better.
hunter0one There’s some computer that allows people to sea the outline of objects, but I’m not sure if they continued developing it. It was heavy and it had a delay.

There is already, very primitive, but certainly better than nothing. It is of course mounted in the brain though, and electrical stimulation of the brain is pretty dangerous. One of the subjects did end up with a small seizure. But, it's not that bad all things considered, and the risk can probably be reduced a lot with better understanding of it all. I imagine the picture quality is like a digital pregnancy test screen resolution + analog blur, but that is already incredible, way better than literally nothing. When it comes to safety, it's already impressive, seeing street lights & all.

Hey Tommy, I am someone with ADHD and have trouble with focusing. I was wondering if because you aren't getting all the extra visual stimulation, if you find that it is easier to concentrate. Or if you find yourself getting fixated/distracted by sounds or scents or something. Thanks! I love your videos :)
when i was is school i knew someone who was doing a course that had something to do with caring for people with disabilities and they had to pair up with someone and one person would get blindfolded to simulate being blind for the whole day and the other person would make sure they were safe and didn't hurt themselves in any way, i know its not the same as actually being blind but maybe you could try it to gain some kind of understanding of how it might affect you.
start an "ice bucket" challenge but with the blindfold... use it as some kind of awareness campaign

I think this would only be relevant question if he was blind AND with ADHD.
That being said, I think that it does help a little bit. Sighted person can easily be distracted by somethint moving at the edge of vision, and also, many distraction tools are visual. I wouldn't say that exchanging ADHD for blindness is a good idea, though :) (But this is all my speculation only - I don't have medical training or blind/ADHD friends)

When you think of someone who has a disability like not being able to see or hear or use a limb, you would think that they would be very sad or depressed that they can't use that. But Tommy embraces his blindness and it gives him a strong character

Genius. Sighted people learn much of what things are just by seeing them and we see everything. But, you can only touch things which limits you greatly to exposure of things and yet you know what things are.

Hi Tommy, just FYI a lot of those Littlest Pet Shop creatures are kind of distorted in my opinion, as in, out of proportion. I am not sure I would have had all 12 if I weren’t told what they were.
