Zoids Chaotic Century was, and still is, THE best series.
The characters were well fleshed-out, the animation was spot on, and the plot was fantastic.
If only it could be re-released as a boxed-set, as the dvd's are hard to find and VERY expensive!

It definitely didn't help that Hasbro could only release a handful of models, leaving the rest of the figures exclusive to Japan. Adult collectors like myself were really hoping Tomy would re-issue the harder to find Zoids like King Gojulas and Gilvader when the show was at its peak. Those re-issues didn't happen for at least another 10 years when the popularity has fizzled out. The show themselves while interesting to watch, didn't really dived deep enough into the lore of what made the toys so great in the 80s and 90s. The most it did was re-introduced Deathsaurer and Ultrasaurus in Chaotic Century, and then quickly shifted the focus back onto the Ligers. Not putting in other giant Zoids in the show was a missed opportunity. The awe factor in the toys back in the day was the bigger the zoid, the more impressive it was. The shows more or less focus on the same handful of small zoids, when the source material had a whole lot more to offer.

If they return to ZOIDS, it *must* be teen-adult audience targeted. When it's purely marketed for kids, who by the way, couldn't DREAM of buying or expecting their parents to buy for them a good HMM/KOTOBUKIYA Zoid model, they would flop financially in that area because kids wouldn't be able to buy the toys.
However, if you went back to centering the story/plot more towards a war-like theme (since let's be real, these are literally giant weapons of mass destruction designed to be used for war), I think that would pull people back in. Especially since the kids who tuned in for CC and NC are all grown up and probably the last people to remember the damn series fondly.

Fuzors definitely played a bug role in killing the franchise in the US market, certainly for me, and for all of the reasons you mentioned.
The sad part is that it's taken about two decades ford Zoids, with Senki, to finally have 3D animation quality on part with the original animes. Senki has little in the way of plot however, so it's tough to get invested in it.
The original animes had fun and interesting characters, good story, and great 3D animation that still shames most current animes. I also prefer how the Zoids and their various weapons and armor were more grounded in reality and less like magic. In New Century, Liger Zero's armor systems were built and installed as you would, say a model, as opposed to later series which had the armor and weapons materialize out of thin air. But then, I also prefer MCU Iron Man's older suits for this very reason.
They definitely should h ave fleshed out the product line more, similar to what TakaraTomy/Hasbro has done with the Transformers franchise. The Transformers franchise has everything from cheap kid-oriented Transformers to $400 Masterpiece Transformers with non-transforming action figures and model kits in between. It also maintains a steady stream of media content and different continuities to keep the product varied.
On a related note, I can still remember Peter Cullen (voice of Optimus Prime) narrating the Toonami promos. Good times.

The change of the Studios and also the less money in the production with Fuzors line. Man, that was the first backslash. The other should be the complexity and or most of the Zoids kits products were not for kids, they were made for much older target. They should take notes from the main competence, Transformers. They uses varios type of toys in the range of kids of 3 yrs old To collectors of 30

the thing i hate about the new zoids anime compared to the old is the zoids model them self, in the old anime it was huge compared to humans like you had a cockpit and was fully protected , but in the new one they just barely fit on the zoids themselves looks like they are riding a mechanical bull instead of a zoid, and are not protected what so ever, like if you put the scaling right, the old zoids (lets take the liger zero) and compare it to the wild liger, the HEAD of the liger zero would be 2X if not 3X as big as the wild liger since the size of bit cloud is that of an adult compare to the wild liger pilot being a child, and bit looking like a ant in the cockpit, if they ever redo new zoids anime with old style zoids i might give the anime a try, but hey that MY opinion, no one has to agree with me , that what i think

They are continuing to not really help themselves with the Wild line. There IS an English release of that line as I mentioned in a previous video, BUT no physical stores carry it and it’s exclusive to online retailers (even though it is said to be available on Walmart and Target’s websites). Now if it is already a niche series, and they don’t market it to try and draw in new customers and let old customers know that Zoids are back then it won’t sell. And when it doesn’t sell retailers will conclude that it was a waste of time to carry the line and Tomy will consider it a waste to try and push it over here.

THEY NEED TO PETITION TO DO A SEASON 2 OF ZOIDS NEW CENTURY SPINOFF!!
There be times I wished they had continued this series into season 2, after the Berzerk Fury saga, to tell a story of Harry's Champ humiliating fall down the ranks to the very bottom after the Blitz Team rose to prominence in Class S, to where his family even cut him off financially and demands all the zoids bought with his family's money + Sebastian & Benjamin be taken from him after his embarrassing performance at the Royal Cup, labeling him the Black sheep of the family because he sullied the family name, so he ventures off a beaten, down-trodded laughing-stock of a pilot with no credibility to himself searching to redeem himself as King, only to come across the King Liger, which choses Harry Champ as its Pilot, thus marking the Rise of a disgraceful self-proclaimed fallen king, the King Liger and a vagabond group of teammates. Now wouldn't that be a great story to animate.

Well Zoids Model kits did start in the 80ys when i was a kid. Back then in europe there where no commercials airing in TV or some animes. Zoids where cool because kids did love dinasaurs back then. I think they still do. Well you could buy comics in the UK from Mravel.
After that OER Line serveral other Lines Startet. Robostrux in the US later Zoids 2 in Europe, then Technozoids, while Japan still has Zoids coming out new ones, Grade up ones.
Basicly the 2000er Zoids where rereleases of the old ones from back then with some new ones.
Chaotic Century shows mostly all of the old Zoids and yes the anime was used to hype Zoids to kids, good advertising. The good thing was the anime had a good story. The animations are great new Zoids show up almost every episode. Plus japanese Zoids had battle storys on the boxes, this was ongoin and the anime did play in that story aswell.
    So really great stuff.
Zoids new Century was a good show too, less warfare, battles where a cometition. Storywise its mostly about Bit and the team. The show promotes as well new Zoids plus older ones.
Animation is good, story ok, good to watch too.
The Fuzors anime had bad animations, the Zoids did look bad, story was boring.
Tomy made the mistake and brought out Blox. Some other kind of building system for Zoids but not motorised. Something that every Zoid had until. So Blox did not feel like Zoids and i think it was a failure toy. Later on they did combine thouse to regular Zoids. Some Zoids got some weapon upgrades that way, but in the past you could also buy weapon upgrades seperate.
The Blox stuff was bad for Tomy and with a bad anime promoting Blox this was double bad.
So the Fuzors did fail and sales did go down because of that bad and cheap Zoids stuff, maybe because kids did play more videogames.
The next big mistake Tomy did was not releasing Zoids Genesis to western audience, maybe no TV Channel did want it after Fuzors.
The anime had great animations and good story. However Tomy did also make big mistakes to the toy line. The Biozoids did look cheap, no motor, and flumsy build. Again very bad decition for new Zoids. They also used old type Zoids with some grade upds or a few cosmetical changes. Some other so called regularr Zoids had also no motor some had no windup motor but pull motors, that was also very bad.
So even the anime was good the toys where bad again. That did lead to the downfall.
Tomy always had Videogames for Zoids even back in the 80ys, some where good some bad. The later released ones where better.
I had a lot Zoids, basicly i had all the 2000 stuff till Genesis all that rare stuff, but i sold most stuff some years ago. only have the 80tys and 90tys Zoids and very few 200x ones.
As i do live in germany i had to import everything, Zoids where not released here 200x and the animes not shown in tv.
The MISB Zoids kits did fill up my whole basement, way to much space.
I think i had like 500+ different Zoids kits, all thouse super rare ones and so on. Im glad i sold most of em, but sometimes im a bit sad too.

Zoids Fuzor did it for me slowly appreciating what's wild now. Going back, I really dig New Century it had a bunch of reruns on Cartoon Network that I completed and discussed with Elementary classmate day-to-day all they had to do was milk it from there instead we got fuzors and it really didn't connect to us with those unlikable characters the only hype we got from there was the Energy Liger being pushed as some sort of a legendary zoid from before hence we get excited cause that's what the lore is kinda about ancient thinking zoids pubstomping with the chosen one then it was not completing its downfall for us.

Have 1v1,2v2, all the way up to like 5v5 or something and the option of HUGE fields for long ranged combat or small arenas for close ranged. But still give the huge fields like cover (rocks, trees, hills, etc) so close range is still an option for getting in snipers faces. Like the game war robots, have some that sit back and shoot missiles over building (probably the panzer liger) and some that have shielding (elephander) that get close to attack that way

  • @assemblyrequired7342
    @assemblyrequired7342 ปีที่แล้ว

For me, video games is the biggest "What If" for Zoids. Sure, Tomy is a toy company, but what they failed to realize was that video games is just another form of toy, and given the choice, most kids would choose games over physical model kits.
Tomy and Hasbro were still thinking in terms of the 20th Century, and if they had made an effort to localize and expand on the video game titles with developers, similar to what was done with Pokemon, Zoids might have been more of a success story. Sure, Tomy has their own line of Pokemon toys, but it is the games that makes the most sales, and has led to a successive line of games with improving graphics and playability every generation. Truth be told, games like Saga and Vs should have been released with the Model Kits and Anime in 2002 right out of the gate.
Not only that, but model kits also take up a lot of space, time and money, something I have in very low supply these days, to the point that I have an unfinished Rising Liger that I was in the process of weathering and detailing, only to find that work and life just won't give me the time to do both that, and draw! He is now in pieces in a drawer, so they don't sit around collecting dust.
Video games are a more affordable alternative to collecting and customizing, as well as offering a playability that the toys just cannot.
With the evolution of augmented and virtual reality, however, Tomy could have another bite at the apple, because who wouldn't want the experience of piloting a giant killer animal robot, kid or adult fan?
And speaking of Genesis: I actually felt that this was one of the best series, which unlike Fuzors, had an excellent backstory, and compelling characters. It's a shame that the damage had already been done, that it never made it outside of Japan.

Tomy should have done a "dark" version of ZOIDS catering to adults who grew up with the toys. After all, we did not have the anime back then, and now many have kids! Finally, a series which is consistent with the original ZOIDS vs Spiderman storyline should have been created. It should have been Gojulas vs. Red Horn! What is up with all the ligers?!

Zoids Fuzors was actually very good. Also, the higher end model kits are not as good of a quality as the motorized kits. The pieces on the HMM kits are super fragile and easy to snap. If you break the wrong piece you are out of luck and you wasted a huge amount of money on that kit.

yeah at this point im 35. i remember watching zoids in middle school and early hs. i just bought my first HHM for fucking $80 and it only got me a Saber tiger lol in terms of gunpla thats a pretty nice master grade. they need to lower the cost for sure to get more of a following in the west. japan has always had shit marketing for video games out here. zoids and gundam both drop the ball hard after the ps2 era.

People often accuse Zoids: Fuzors as the reasons Zoids lost its popularity. However, it was in fact the fan favorite Zoids: Chaotic Century that made Zoids lose its popularity. Having gotten such low ratings during its run on Cartoon Network that it was cancelled with the final four episodes only being shown after complaints from the fanbase. Fuzors was more of a last-ditch effort to salvage Zoids’ lost popularity.
