      Great video as always bud, I actually think a lot of answers were given in the in the Zoids Legacy video game. 8f I remember correctly it had exact figures and dates for some of the major events in chaotic century and new century along with bringing the extensive cast from both series back and I thinks it's a must play game.

    To add to the connections between Chaotic and New Century: the "organoid" system, although never outright stated, just feels heavily implied to have been Zeke and Shadow that somehow transformed into the Liger Zero and Berserk Fury over time. It would make a lot of sense, but the fact that they never directly make this connection feels like they were playing with our imaginations, which seems more fun somehow.
    It also seems possible that Bit was a distant relative, possibly a descendant, of Van and Fionna, and Vega had some connection to Raven and Reese, just going off of their appearances. But, that might be stretching it just a bit.

      d say that the Wilds series, which in turn Senki, were the prequels before Zoids became just mindless machines and only had organoids to bridge that gap. By the time Senki was, the Zoids are looking more and more mechanized than synthetic organics.

    Here's a bit of trivia from an x-Xebec employee...
    When they were developing the story for Zoids Chaotic Century, it was also Xebec's first time to purchase 3D Software... namely Softimage 3D (the software is even mentioned in the credits). The Writers, and the studio were so enamored with the tech that they named the 3 Organoids - Ambient, Specular and Shadow after the 3 basic parts of a 3D Shader - that which makes up color and lighting on a 3D object. The only exception to this naming scheme is Zeke, the Van's own Organiod.
    My former boss was one of the people that helped usher 3D Animation Technology into Xebec's work pipeline. Im a bit sad at where the franchise is now. Both the 90's toyline and the Chaotic Century Anime were pretty close to my heart.

    • @Liethen
      @Liethen 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      agreed, a lot of franchises add too much to later designs, like comparing 1st gen pokemon vs the new ones. Chaotic century is also the best because it actually takes place in a war where the fights have real consequences, I've never liked tournament arcs in anime, so the downside of new century is that it is basically a giant tournament arc

    I *think* Wild and Wild Zero actually take place on Earth instead of Zi, that some Zoids and their tech was sent back to Earth, but I have only seen a tiny bit of the series.
    I didn't like Wild for leaning too far into the shonen side of things. It also struck me as jarring that when Wild started, *none* of the Zoids were equipped with *any* ranged weapons, and the weapons they were equipped with seemed to be designed for style rather than function, which also irked me.

    • @Viseak
      @Viseak  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah I recall that in Wild Zero at least there was some mass portal or something bringing a flood of Zoids from Zi to earth but idk man I never got far enough into the series to understand either.
      I reckon it’d be possible to somehow make a loose connection to the original Zoids series with that in mind, but I just don’t know (or really care 😅) enough about Wild to finish it and dig deep enough to make that theory haha

    • @euclid1068
      @euclid1068 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reason for ranged weapons being rare is probably because the world in general is lower tech than the OG timeline. The weapons the Zoids have in Wild are just their natural abilities. They're not modified machines like the classic Zoid designs. Speaking strictly about the first Wild series btw.

    @euclid1068 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    It's a shame some fans don't give Wild a fair shot because it is pretty good once it gets going. And for such a "kid's anime" it deals with some pretty heavy themes like the death of a main character and Arashi having to make some difficult decisions that affect everyone else around him. The reasons for not watching Wild seem kind of petty. The character designs and the Zoids being ridden instead of piloted shouldn't be that much of a determent. It's really not any less mature than the shows that came before it.
    I'm rewatching CC again for the first time in 20 years and there's a lot of comedy and humor moments in it. Van won't stop thinking about food, walking in on a naked Fiona, arguing with Zeke, and Moonbay's singing. I'm only on episode 12 but it's only just now started to get somewhat serious with the introduction of Raven. Funny enough that's about the same time Wild starts to get serious too...Before that it was just Van and friends wandering the wasteland looking for Zoid Eve.
    But I digress. I hope older fans are more open minded going forward and realize Zoids anime were always made with kids and young teens in mind and not for adults. Otherwise they're always going to be disappointed with any new upcoming Zoids anime. Thank you for making this timeline video. It was fun to revisit the old anime again and see how loosely they're all connected.

    • @Viseak
      @Viseak  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      First off thanks for watching and the kind words mate, much appreciated.
      And for sure, Zoids always has been and always will be a kids show primarily made to market and sell toys.
      Chaotic Century had that more light hearted adventure aspect to it at the beginning almost akin to ZZ Gundam and I mean just look at New Century, it’s strictly fights every episode featuring flashy new toys to market and sell.
      So really, and I’m not afraid to admit this, my love for Zoids is purely nostalgia talking.
      If I didn’t have nostalgia for Zoids I probably wouldn’t even like it all that much. That’s not to say it’s a bad anime, and the Wild series probably aren’t either, but I just don’t have those nostalgia goggles for the new series. So I’ll more than likely over-exaggerate the character development and storytelling and nuance of the older series I’m simply nostalgic for, and underplay any redeeming qualities of a show that clearly wasn’t made for me.
      Kinda in the same vein of how personally, I really just, can’t get into Gundam Wing, but everyone that grew up with it seems to love it. Or how you see different ‘generations’ of Halo fans, depending on which entry had the biggest impact on your childhood.
      Lot of people are in the same boat for a lot of series out there, whether they like to admit it or not, nostalgias just funny like that.

    • @euclid1068
      @euclid1068 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Viseak Thank you for responding and understanding where I'm coming from. Every fanbase has those type of fans that strongly enjoy the shows/games they grew up with and have a very difficult time accepting anything new because they don't have that nostalgia for it. I've seen it in the Gundam, Macross, and Transformers communities. I do think that if some of those older Zoid fans didn't grow up with CC or NCZ and tried to watch them for the first time as adults they probably wouldn't think they were that good. They're fun shows but even within the mecha community Zoids is rarely ever mentioned. Probably because the actual stories themselves aren't nearly as nuanced as some of Gundam and Macross' best shows.
      That being said I still love them and nostalgia does play a part in it as well but I can also watch them un-objectively and realize they're not the amazing shows I remember them being. In any case despite Wild's lackluster reception and performance in the west I'm glad it was a big hit in Japan because that tells Tomy that Zoids is still a franchise worth making new content for and it shows with the Wild sequels and new model line like the 40th anniversary kits. I don't want to see Zoids go into hibernation for another 13 years again. I still love this series and want to see it grow. Please continue making new Zoid videos so we can help it grow too.

    Thank you for confirming the chaotic century manga is unfinished! I remember reading it as a kid and wondering why it seemed to just stop after Van got his super powerful Liger Zero variant (that I always wished had a model kit!) Also I never made the connection that my love of Zoids and building the model kits subconsciously influenced my love of cars until you mentioned it! 😅

    Another link between Chaotic Century/Guardian Force and New Century Zero is that when you see the Liger Zero's Zoid Core, you can clearly see an Organoid fused with it, an organoid that looks just a bit familiar if you saw CC/GF first. (I didn't, so it didn't click until way later.)

  • @Sei003
    @Sei003 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Zoids Genesis, both the anime and the game, was my introduction to the Zoids franchise so those two are very close to my heart. To this day, I still remember finishing the GBA game that doesn't have any English translation without knowing any Japanese at all when I was a kid. As for my second favorite, it's gotta be New Century since Bit was the 2nd protagonist that was introduced to me in the Zoids Genesis game and I really liked Liger Zero, especially Zero Panzer CAU in the game.
    It honestly would have been interesting if they animated that GBA game instead of Fuzors, given how it connected both Chaotic Century and New Century + another timeline from another Zoids game which if I remember correctly was the main focus of an NDS game. It would have been a more interesting watch instead of whatever Fuzors and Wilds is.

    Zoids Genesis was terrific all around except for the lack of cool Zoid designs for the villains.
    Like seriously the villains re-used the same 2 Zoids throughout like 80% of the series until they introduced Bio Volcano and Bio Tyranno towards the end of the series. I get that based on the timeline, there were only a few zoids left in the world of genesis but the heroes still had their fair share of cool new zoid designs.

    I always assumed GF took place 5 years later. Explains Van's growth spurt and military training. (I doubt 2 years is enough time to become an elite soldier pulling shit we see him do.)
    Now, I will say, I love how most of your video lines up with what I said on a Zoids role-play forum I am/was an admin on (player to mod/Team Leader to admin team). It was set a few decades after New Century and eventually became an Alternate Timeline (largely due to another of the admin's attempt at a story event that... went sideways due to drama).
    After Era was a fun time though... shame real life pulled all of us away. I miss Team Fury.
    One thing you skipped is that in the manga of CC/GF how the Blade Liger evolved once more into a Liger Zero and Zeke bound to it, same with the Genobreaker into Berserk Fury (with Shadow bound). We see this in NC with the "Ultimate X" Zoid cores.

    I want to make a comment about Fuzors. Anyone remember the episode, I think it was either 5 or 6, where the mechanic that RD picked up was able to look over the Liger Zero. He mentioned the Change Armor System and on the terminal screen, you saw the Jager, Schneider and Panzer units. Before I knew Fuzors followed the Battle Story, I thought it was canonical to New Century Zero just from that.

    I loved Chaotic Century and Guardian Force.
    It's the only Zoids series I got into, and can watch over and over again.
    The anime style, the characters, the story/plot and the Zoids themselves were all perfect.
    I was always intrigued by the backstory of ZoidEve and the Ancient Zoidians.
    I'd have loved a prequel series focussed on Fiona and Zeke, how and why they ended up in those pods with all the old, ruined Zoids around them, and how they originally managed to defeat the DeathSaurer.

    Yeah, I get what you mean. I think the words you were looking for when describing your suspension of disbelief was “real robot”. I know Zoids isn’t exactly like that with the whole “living machines” thing, but there was a lot of “real robot” elements incorporated into the setting, especially in CC and GF.

    I’m just seeing this video so I hope you see this comment. My outlook on Zoids Wild is that Zoids reverted to the original forms. I’m an old Zoids fan, like from the 80s. The Zoids Bible showed them originally as smaller mechanical animals that were tamed to an extent and used for warfare eventually.

    From what I see in Zoids wild/zero it seems to be a prequel to Zoids chaotic century. I know it seems quite far from it but some proof is there.
    Zoids are "wild" in some Zoid games or written material it shows people using Zoids like they originally did at the begining of time. They capture/use Zoids to help them in every day task like hunting and gathering. Zoids wild has alot of connecting dots to zoidians.
    Zoidians seems to be a stretch but what if it was changed to be a faction or clan instead of a race.
    Besides that wild Zoids seem to be getting more domesticated as the series goes on. Eventually leading to how they look like in chaotic century. The advance technology in Zoids wild/zero like mini gravity bullets and how the Zoids are size wise shows me they won't take long to get to the current version/look of chaotic century, most of the knowledge of it will be lost in time untill it is reinvented or discover in chaotic century by doctor D.
    A clan/faction will soon form with political and power which would lead the the creation of Zoid eve. The controller of all Zoids which every Zoid can be traced back to, and the fall of the zoidians the "death saurer"
    I kinda hope this is the path that is taken as it would really connect so much and show some connection to it old Zoid animes instead of revamping the whole series. Who knows

    While Zoids Wild doesn't actually occur in the core timeline, I think functionaly, styalistically, it would actually be a precursor to Zoids Chaotic Century. Folks riding zoids instead of piloting them, etc. In my head cannon it's zoids predomestication, pre weaponization. Zoids in their original wild forms, which we'd eventually commodify into tools of war. That said, the show had some serious vibes that clashed with some peoples tastes, which is understandable.
