- What made Zoids New Century so Awesome? From its awesome Zoids like the Liger Zero and Berserk Fury, to it's great characters and fantastic battle royal style episodic story, Zoids New Century has a lot going for it and today I'm going to discuss how it sized up to it's predecessor, Zoids Chaotic Century.

This is essentially a review on New Century just so you know what you're jumping into, and just for reference, heres a quick synopsis of New Century:
Zoids New Century Zero takes place a long time after the events of Zoids: Chaotic Century. Zoids are no longer used for warfare; instead, the combative natures of both Zoids and humans are focused and contained by a series of battle-competitions and tournaments, run by the Zoid Battle Commission.
The series focuses on the Blitz Team, in particular the actions of the Liger Zero and Bit Cloud.

Out of all the zoids as much as i love Chaotic Century i always loved New Century a little more. I love Bit Cloud and the crew. Love the dub for it too.
The fuzzy pandas joke is timeless and will always be funny.
Zoids new century was my second anime I ever watched!!!!. My first being mobile fighter g Gundam.
needless to say they both hold a huge special place in my heart❤❤

Just the music alone is awesome, but combine it with the action sequences and its a master piece worthy of watching repeatedly.
For one instance the fight between Bit and Jack during the royal cup. When the music kicks in the boosters activate and they're hammering long going at it.

I loved the heavier emphasis on the physical mechanics and logistics of operating and maintaining mechs that New Century had.
Makes me wish Armored Core 6 kept some of the older features from past games like heat management and weight distribution.
Hate that I missed when this video dropped months ago, but for me, NCZ will always be my favorite anime. I had watched anime before NCZ while growing up, but something about NCZ just stuck with me. It also has my favorite fight in all of anime as well. Zero vs Fury. Doesn't matter how many times I watch that fight, I get chills when Zero comes out of that dust cloud. Every. Single. Tme. It's also one of the few anime that I rewatch yearly. It's just that good to me.

TH-cam really do be like that, it happens to me all the time, I’ve got a creator I watch frequently, then maybe I’ll skim past and miss one video, then boom, I don’t see ANY of their videos come up for months.

I had to come running when I noticed you were gonna talk about new century 0! I have so many memories about this one like how Lena won two battles but at the behest of her team which always ended in a ha ha moment, Jamie going Wild Eagle once he got the Rainos, Liger Zero having all of those armors, the Shadow Fox vs Liger Zero and Liger Zero vs. Berserk Fury fights and at the end of one important battle with the Panzer, Liger just shed that shit off and roared happily while Bit took off his shirt. Just so many fun memories one of my many listening to certain English voice actors who later pop up in several other projects that I ended up loving a lot in my years and plus it was a mecha anime with mechanical animals beating the shit out of each other! Of course my young brain was gonna love this show and thank God it was on Toonami at the time otherwise I would have missed it the same way I missed chaotic century. Granted I did find chaotic century but it was on at 6:00 in the morning and I remember being up before going to school and watching that. Good times good times. Anyway solid job with the video and yeah mean my one friend agrees Lena is indeed the tsundere of the team lol.
Haha thanks for watching man. There were so many great moments in New Century hey it was really just an anime of great moments, no amazing overarching story arc like Chaotic Century but still fantastic.
And yeah seeing the English voice actors elsewhere is so cool and I can always catch them right away.
I can fully relate to waking up for Chaotic Century as well, always happened to be on a 6am time slot, no matter who I talk to, no matter where in the world people are Zoids Chaotic Century got slugged with a 6am time slot.
Shadow Fox and Berserk Fury. Enough said. Liger Zero is just icing on the cake!
It's so awesome because it's practically an all out battle tournament series. I love the Liger Zero Jager and glad the Lightning Saix and Storm Sworders are still in the series :). Great Vid Bro keep em zoids content coming.

My Favorite in the Zoids series I used to watch it all the time as a kid
It's amazing how much NZC was able to get right. Just compare this show to a train-wreck of wasted potential like Gundam Build Fighters Try and you'll appreciate what NCZ accomplishes all the more. Also, I really liked the dub for this show and think it doesn't get enough credit.
New Century really was fantastic especially for its time too, and hey we all know the Zoids franchise can still produce a train wreck not too long later with Fuzors.
The dub is also fantastic in my opinion but I’m definitely biased because I grew up with it. CC and NC are probably some of the only anime I can actually watch in Dub.
You forgot to mention the callbacks to Chaotic Century, like the Ultrasaurus wreck being the one that Van launched himself out of, or the organoid mystery. It makes me wonder if Liger is what eventually became of Zeek and Furry possibly was Shadow.
I have to be honest and say that I finished watching New Century Zero years after I started with Zoids. (For reference, I finished watching Genesis first.) It was definitely a fun ride, at the very least. The Panzer CAS will always be my favorite.
It was the opposite for me, I started with New Century and Chaotic Century when I was a kid and only was able to watch Genesis a couple of years ago.
Honestly loved Genesis though and I’m really keen to make a video on it like this one in the future, but I’m planning on going over Fuzors again first which is going to be fun. The Panzer was definitely the most badass CAS and really took the stage towards the end of the series, still have the HMM kit of it in my backlog that I have to find time to build sometime soon hahaha

@@Viseak A rant based around that 1 series that I personally think killed Zoids from being big in the States ever again would be a great idea! I mean there were some cool ones in that show but the story and characters just felt really off especially when compared to new century and chaotic century.
@@MrDarksol oh yeah 100%, it just didn’t hold up compared to it’s predecessors at all.
I’ve already done a mini rant on Fuzors but yeah a fully fledged one with more detail is something I’m kind of excited to make. But I’m not exactly keen on having to rewatch Fuzors to make it hahaha
New Century is definitely my favorite Zoids series, with Chaotic Century coming in second. As for Fuzors, well... the less said about that massive dumpster fire the better. I can't watch Genesis, due to lacking any vision and therefore being unable to read the subtitles, and though I really don't like skipping over shows in a franchise I like if I can help it, I might just bite the bullet, suck it up and watch Wild and Wild Zero, though I have to admit I don't know how I feel about the whole no cockpit concept in Wild.
This is one of my all time favorite animes. This, Mobile Fighter G Gundam and DBZ were my childhood watching on Toonami.

Nice! I watched the Dragon Ball Z movies on VHS the way you watched New Century. But I've watched Zoids New Century my fair share of times over the years =). Berserk Fury is my fav!

Zoids New Century... Dead honesty here; this show was one of those shows that I didn't watch; I consumed it. There are only a handful of anime that I can remember loving to the point where I actively wished to be a part of the world in the show. I've loved giant robots since my cousins introduced a 4 year old me to Transformers; and from there discovering things like Voltron and Robotech. Zoids gave me the thrill of piloting giant robot animals that I got from Voltron, and gave me a whole f**king animal kingdom of creatures; I was hooked on episode one!
Side note: I was always shocked Bit didn't at least punch Doc Toros for selling his entire stock of parts out from under him. Yeah; Bit's got the partner zoid he always planned on building with those parts now; but that's still his life's work gone in a freaking day! Manager of the team or not; the man would've walked away with a broken nose bare minimum if it was me.
This was my favorite of all time plus chaotic century I just wish it was a little longer
In the US, New Century aired first on Cartoon Network before Chaotic Century.
I just realized something about the Liger Zero's CAS. Its like the three Zoids that when up against the DeathStinger in Chaotic Century. Schneider is like the Blade Liger, Yager is like the Lightning Saix and Panzer is like the D-Bison.

@@Viseak, I feel like in-universe that Dr. Toros took inspiration from the three crowning members of the Guardian Force in his designs for the CAS system. I wrote a fic about that as my submission for a class assignment in junior high.

*after watching* I first saw all my favorite Zoids from this show!! The Liger Zero Jager vs Lightning Saix.. which the fight was sadly not mentioned in the vid. The Elephander, the Shadow Fox! The Gun Sniper, especially with Bit's plot armor. Naomi should have won that fight, was not mentioned in the vid.
Then you have the Panzer, all those weapons!!!

0:42 well I'm thinking since the titled series is called new century, which means a period of 100 years. This would means that its set 100 years from its predecessor show; chaotic century. But then again, the fact that Zeke and the other organoids are present, makes me think new century is set perhaps in a futher timeline, like maybe 200 or 300 years in the future.
I just ended up loving the characters immensely. And I’m a sucker comeptitive anime at the time: Pokemon, Beyblade, Medabots, Mega Man NT Warrior, G Gundam (until it becomes way more than a competition….and it already was WAY more). I’d kill to see them do more with them.
Thank you for making these zoids videos. Yes our community is small but that doesnt stop you from making these videos. Im happy that for the longest time that ive been a fan. Now i am able to watch zoids content.
It’s all good man I’m more than happy to keep making these, Zoids is just something I’ve enjoyed for pretty much my whole life and can talk about for hours on end.
I’m still trying to branch out a bit of course to gain a bigger audience and hopefully in turn, introduce more people to Zoids, and hopefully yourself and everyone else who enjoy Zoids also enjoy the other anime/manga and video games I happen to talk about.
@@Viseak ofcourse i enjoy alot of your content. Ive always been a fan of anime in general. I also like some of your other nostalgic contents such as beyblade and yugioh. And thinking about it there is a lot of those types of anime like the crushgear, bdaman, bakugan, tamiya lets go and those yoyo animes which all shares the same context with zoids, anime made to sell toys. Hahaha. Ive been looking around youtube and im surprised to see that they are trying to revive some of them like the break goga which is the new genarations crushgear and the bdaman which uses bottle caps instead of balls. Anyway i love your content and i hope you keep making them. Cheers

I definitely want to do more of the nostalgia based videos particularly on things like Crushgear, Yugioh, Bakugan, Digimon, Beyblade and Pokémon as they were the series I grew up with and in the case of Yugioh and Pokémon, I still play the Yugioh TCG and Pokémon games as they’re still fun even as an adult, and are something I’m passionate about.
At this point I think my TH-cam channel is just a little passion project filled with videos I make about subjects I’m passionate about at the time, which I hope somewhat comes across in the content I put out, but when it comes to Zoids I’ll always be passionate about that series so there’ll never be a lack of content on it haha
@@Viseak its true i can really see all the passion and effort you put in every video. Your channel is really a hidden gem you know? One of the only ways to find your channel is if you are a zoids fan. Thats why i think your idea of branching out to other content is great. I know you can succeed someday. We just need to think of a video idea that will interest more people. Something that is trending and popular right now. As of now i couldn't think of anything. An in depth review of attack on titan final season perhaps? Focusing in erens character arc and development idk. Anyway more power to you im glad that youre happy and very passionate in making these videos. In doing so you make a couple of zoids fans happy here. Maybe thats the key. You need to make a wider fanbase like the attack on titan fans happy like how you make zoids fans happy. By providing what they want. Anyway i dont want to pressure you on doing something that probably you wont be interested in im sorry hehe. Whats more important is doing what you like and not forcing yourself to do something just to be popular. Keep it up. Also i just want to say that i never played the tcg, i only collected the cards as a kid and kept them hidden until now. But i play duel links alot and i find it really fun.

I definitely want to make some more AOT videos but honestly I think something like a Pokémon video might be what gets me off the ground. I’ve seen a few longer analysis videos on Pokémon pop up in my recommended recently, and some of these videos have gotten upwards of 700k views and a lot of these are peoples first or second TH-cam videos on the channel, and I’ve got a couple ideas for Pokémon videos so hey that could be the way to go.
I’m really glad to see so much love for Zoids though and the fact that there’s still a community out there is really amazing. In terms of Yugioh though man whenever it’s possible again I’d recommend finding a local card store or game shop if you have one near by and maybe pick up the TCG, I started by playing duel links a few years ago when it first came out then soon after a friend of mine introduced me to the actual game and I’ve been hooked ever since. There’s a bit of a learning curve to it but it’s honestly really fun and if you like duel links, it’ll just be like a more challenging version of that for you.
I like how a fair bit of the story for this was in the Zoids Legacy game, I still play that every now and then.
Vis, I love your videos man, it's always a pleasure seeing anything zoids related fresh in youtube. Can i suggest you do a video on Genesis, cause it's probably my second favoite series after NC. As well, maybe you could give us your impressions on Zoids Wild and Wild zero, cause there's not many videos on the last two series. Keep the videos coming bro, and merry christmas!

I’ll definitely be doing a video on Genesis like this one in the future as it’s probably the most underrated Zoids series in my eyes. In terms of Wild and Wild Zero, if I’m honest, I still haven’t finished them yet. Once I finish the series I’ll definitely be making videos on them too though especially Wild Zero in particular as I’ve been enjoying it a lot more from what I’ve seen.
I love how Leena basically gets kidnapped twice and ends up freeing herself both times.

I have a theory about how legendary and rare Zoids in past series specifically become so nerfed in future series. Like how the blade liger, berserk Fury, genosaurer, and shadow fox are so common and/or weak in Fuzors but we’re OP and feared in CC and NC. They’re rare at first and in the hands of top knotch pilots that are the sole expert in these Zoids. But as years for by they are studied and reversed engineered and mass produced (they are still machines after all) and they get into the hands of less skilled pilots that could afford them.
The Panzer or Tiger were scary in the 40's but would be trivial threats to an Abrams or Leopard.
@@sanninjiraiya it’s not even like that. Technology pertaining to ZOIDS seem to be stagnant in the continuity. It’s more like a high spec car being in the hands of a skilled driver being formidable but that car is also available for sale to anyone so any schmuck with a lot of cash and a driver’s license can get one and in their hands they’re gonna suck. But they still end up making it on screen in the show because their ZOIDs is high spec enough that they make it to these tournaments or battles and they get their ass handed to them when they actually run across a skilled pilot.
They’re the Gucci gear Instagram operators of their world. They’re the tacticool gear ninja every military unit has. They’re that guy who has the 7 grand set of golf clubs at the country club but takes 200 strokes. They’re those people at your rec league softball team that’s dressed head to toe with all that expensive gear but can’t bat worth for shit.
of all the Zoid animes Zero Century had the most energy 👏 🙌 👌
100%, it was easily the most hype Zoids anime and featured some of the best moments in the entire series

My second fav series after Chaotic century/ Guardian force. It didn't have the political/war Drama , but it was pretty enjoyable. Specially for the battles ( this is the point where i think NCZ surpass in Quality the CC , when it comes to CGI ) and my fav armors were Jaeger and Schneider. Didn't like the main cast despite bit. ( Leena was soo annoying , Barah wasn't as great of a character as Irvine and just like that.)
The best part of it when it comes to characters were Leon, Bit , the girl with the red Gun sniper and some Guys from Bad draft , elephander, Storm sworder pilots))
Ohh and the zoids , Liger zero with Jaeger and Schneider , Shadow fox, elephanter were my favories zoids.
Personally i think it wasn't as good as chaotic Century , but it keep the series alive and it was enjoyable . A decent seasom overall

Yeah it definitely didn’t hit as hard as Chaotic Century, but was still a fun little story none the less.
The CGI was a bit more refined and overall I really like the designs of the newer Zoids too, in particular the Zero and Shadow Fox really stood out for me.

You can find some download links or places you can watch New Century online on the Zoids Subreddit, unfortunately there isn't a 'legal' way to watch the older Zoids series anymore so that's really the only way to go.

NCZ is amazing I agree but Chaotic will always be the best zoids series, the action, the soundtrack, the, character development it really is the best.........haven't seen Genesis though so I'm biased right now
Even after seeing Genesis I still prefer Chaotic Century, but I’m definitely biased towards it too.
Genesis is honestly amazing though and probably the closest thing we’ve got to a good story driven Zoids series since CC.

I'd recommend checking out the Zoids subreddit, they should have some links to downloads or places you can watch New Century online, unfortunately there isn't a 'legal' way to watch the older Zoids series anymore so that's really the only way to go nowadays.
I actually like New Century Zero more than Chaotic Century. For starters, CC is slow(in terms of action and story) and doesn't start getting really good until Raven enters the fold. Meanwhile NCZ you can enter at any point and be instantly hooked. NCZ lacks the narrative that CC has but makes up for it in better battles and much better soundtrack(a soundtrack that gets you more invested into the battles than CC). And even though the narrative is lacking it still manages to have strong characters as well as high stakes and thrills. In fact, I'd say the characters are arguable better than the characters in CC as there is just a lot more memorable characters and adversaries even though CC has the better main villains. NCZ is great because it does a great job balancing action, comedy, great characters, music and thrills while staying away from being repetitive. Which is really quite impressive as that is a feat a show like G Gundam fails at. IPGX is another similar show that doesn't quite capture the appeal NCZ as well. NCZ is not one of those shows that is simple enough to where it feels like it was made strictly to sell toys like a Fuzorz. You can see there was great care put into the series from the music production all the way to the battles(which is really the main difference between it and CC more emphasis on action and battles as opposed to narrative). That's why it was so successful when it came out and sparked the popularity of the Zoids franchise here in the States. Any way you look at it both shows were great just for different reasons. Unfortunately the franchise has never quite been able to capture the same level of quality of CC and NCZ.
Do you know what really sucks? The fact that they never made that pig Zoid into an actual Zoid… You know the one, the one in the Shadow Fox episode that is in the background. It looks like a brown boar. It has tusks coming out of the side of its mouth and the nose looks like it could have been some sort of canon.
If you’re talking about the ones in the hanger when Brad was stealing the Fox I THINK they were meant to be König Wolves but were drawn pretty poorly it was hard to recognise, I’m not entirely sure though.
A boar as a Zoid would be pretty cool though, another Zoid with tusks like the Elephander is always welcome in my books.

Hahaha yeah if you’re sick of Ligers getting the spotlight you should check out the Zoids: Galaxy Quest Planet Zi comic.
The main character Pilots a König Wolf and its a pretty fun story.
