- Hidden Episode of The Wilderness Living Challenge Season 4 featuring Zach Fowler. This video never aired originally and could only be found by following the playlist. In this adventure, we put together a completely wild meal from beaver meat, wild mushrooms and whatever else we can find. It was extremely wet this day, therefore quite slow paced. Zach Fowler: / @fowlersmakeryandmischief
Producing a 100% wild meal in the bush using only foraged foods in a survival challenge.
The GOAL of the SURVIVAL CHALLENGE is simple: GAIN or MAINTAIN, body weight eating only WILD FOODS! FULL PLAYLIST: tinyurl.com/yczxcypn
Join me and Zach Fowler winner of Season 3 of ALONE on the History Channel. Zach's Playlist: tinyurl.com/yczoekr8

We weight-in and weigh-out and if we lose any body mass at all, we have FAILED the challenge!
Unlike Naked and Afraid, ALONE, or Survivorman, there is no limit to the tools we are allowed to use on this survival challenge. Living off just WILD foods is harder than you think! If it's legal, it's fair use. Sometime we even do some bushcraft, but the main focus is really on eating wild foods, wild edibles and catching and cooking various foods.
This isn't about just surviving, this is about thriving!
Season 4: Northern Autumn, takes place in Northern Ontario with vast opens seasons including fish, catfish, pike, trout, birds such as grouse, duck, and geese, bear, deer, and moose. Also wild apples, mushrooms, berries, and so much more. We make use of all the resources in this challenge to meet the demands for calories imposed by the human body!
In this episode we dig into our wild food spoils, black bear and beaver while enjoying being surrounded by nature. Best thing about eating wild is that it is everything your body needs!
Beaver are surprisingly easy to trap and offer a ton of nutrients to the forager. A real staple item! Beaver is also great eating, usually very full of fats crucial to surviving long term in the wild.

We will show you how to snare hare, how to set up a winter canvas hot tent, run a wood stove and stay warm in the Northern Climate of Canada. The wood stove keeps us warm mostly overnight, but needs to be fed every few hours or the temperatures plummet. We will guide you how to winter camp in comfort and safety.
We use double sleeping bags to camp out in the winter as well as a camp mat and cot. The tent fluctuates from very warm to very cold as it is not insulated. With no way to trap the heat, the fire must be constantly kept going inside.
Jeremy (One Wildcrafter) is eating an all wild foods diet for the whole of 2019, so this is an interesting test for him. Can we snare enough hare to sustain ourselves over the winter months? How easy is it to find foods in the winter when everything seems to be sleeping.

*This video never aired officially the first go round. In deep edit now...trying to get some new stuff out for next week. HNY everyone!*
Happy New Year Mr. WB!
Whatever happened to the pond series
You two are my favorite wilderness guy's out there. I really hope to see more of the two of you in the future. Also I would like to see you go to Washington state some day
Most is skunk! Raccoons have a lot, but sometimes we can't find them. Rabbit, squirrel, deer, and others are pretty fair. Porcupine have some, but we never looked. If the animal smells a lot alive, it's probably got some glands to watch out for!
Did you catch the bow fish vid?
Make a "how to survive in the Iranian desert" video for me and the boys
Star Wars Fool 👈 Legend 😂
"This Beaver...You tore it up" Good job Beardsman. I can't imagine how many times you made Fowler blush. I get the feeling that after getting clams and beaver, you're on your way to a cougar hunt.
Oh man, and I heard they taste great too!! :)
I was just re-watching your Season 4 of TWLC the past couple of hours and, was actually at the weight-out video when notification about this (Bonus Lost Episode) had me pause the playlist and immediately watch this! Thanks Chris!
I remember the first time I ate beaver. It was my friend’s sister... 😂😂😂

Every survivalist loves beaver! Lol.
Watching all episodes!
I've had beaver, it was really good. The person who cooked it knew what they were doing and if I hadn't been told what it was, I would have sworn it was a beef pot roast.
Love this channel ❤❤❤

Yup!
Never tasted a Beaver before but gaddamn that looks delicious. 🤤
That food looked so good it made me hungry ..... never had beaver or bear maybe one day for now I’m going to have roast lamb how’s that. Thanks for sharing till the next video guys Full Stop ✋
Awesome! Q: What about the tail? My mother-in-law is Dene and 70 y/o and from NWT, Canada. As a child she had a mostly traditional diet, like ‘Keto Carnivore’, and she told me her dad and her would actually eat the Beaver TAIL. She said it was sooo good. One of her favourite foods as a kid. Really fatty. They would have to pick at it. Not sure if they roasted it or boiled it. I’ll have to ask her.
With the whole mint comment I've had mint jelly and mutton before and actually wasn't bad I did put it in what I call an amalgam gyro but ya man really good
7:37 YEAH! HAHA
Dude, you need to try mint sauce on lamb..... roast/bbq lamb with mint (chopped steeped in a little malt or balsamic vinegar) is amazing
Lost episodes rule!
should have gave the bear a kiss at 8:28
Got to have mint sauce with your lamb roast 😋
It's funny how I can look at the bear thinking it's so cute, but have no issues with you eating it, I have totally respect for what you do amd would love to try it, but it's not easy to do it in England, I live in a city aswell
What a 💎 gem
i want a grouse skull
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Crazy 😂😂
Eating beaver, is awesome
Rad! It’s always cool to get a new video notice...Full stopped it dude beard.
I’ll be watching all 30+ episodes of survival challenge season 2: Canadian Rockies with Zak Fowler/ “Makery & Mischief” featuring Greg Ovens “Rocky Mountain Bushcraft” TH-cam channel.
It's a great series!
I REALLY WANNA BE INA VID🙂
You should have added the apple sauce to the meat!!!!
Love you❤ have a nice year healt and succes!
Health*
To you too!
@@TheWoodedBeardsman thanks alot!
Did you guys shave the beaver before you ate it? I know that's the way I like it!
We'd need a deluxe box of razors!
Latest biology course ... bananas share 60% DNA with humans. Apples have 40%. So consuming apples is a healthy DNA source.
You should try using clay refrigerators that use no electricity to store your meats. It could be considered primitive refrigeration. A company called MittiCool has it on its site for just over $100 or you could replicate its design yourself.
Survival foods not bad😊
My mum use to grown mint leafs and she just to cook them with new potatoes was my favourite as a kid
Interesting!
Full stop 👍
That was a great season
Did you get your package yet?
Not yet :(
Mint with lamb is delicious
The Wooded Beardsman quote of the day "When your eating poop, Just, Don't eat raw poop"
lol
Full stop
Beards man trust ive been a loyal suscriber
Dad said when asked what's in the pot..meat..meat is meat..lol
Chad Dolan I Wish my wife understood that. I try to tell her all the time that meat is meat.
KY goes good with beaver sometimes if you want it moist
LOL
Wow i like wild meat:)
You ever saw Indian Pipes? Or like skull orchids? It's this like flower that looks like a mushroom. It's a nerving. You soak it in liquor and its a powerful painreliever. I made a huge bottle. An ex friend and i had a fallout so i wasn't able to tey it after the 6 week tinture
Full stop 🛑. Mmmm
i love tasting beaver, even the fishy kind???
Hmmm, depends!
Have you ever any apple jack .. easy made booze ...tasty
Cooking the apples down into a sauce is genius. I bet he t makes a good smear to compliment salt. Y’all eatin like kangs.
Waiting on a edible insects video beard lol
My son and I did a cricket one, you'll have to look back.
Wait a minute... you eat the half digested cantaloupe out of a groundhog stomach but not the skin off an apple? All the vitamins on the apple skin you disappoint beardsman.
I love how both of you eat like that chewing while your mouth smoking
Rainy days are perfect time to Bird dog it raw dog style.
oh boy
just had a thought, have you ever set a baseline for your natural weight fluctuation? maybe you could try weighing yourself everyday for a week before the wilderness living challenge and try to stay within that range. I feel like you and especially Jeremy should have crushed the homestead season, and really it was probably close enough to be considered natural variation from day to day.
Yes, I feel like 1-3 lbs is still a win. I've always knows before hand if I was going to win or lose the challenge. I normally don't fluctuate at all over the course of a normal week. The hunger tells everything.
Beaver is fine eating if it’s taken care of those caster glands can ruin the meat if left on too long ... I prefer it as hamburger my self great burgers with a bit of beef suet ! Or hamburger helper double Mac n cheese I dont like beaver steaks but it does stew well
Oh, that sounds great!
Foooooooooooook....... I want to eat bear rinds now.......
