Heya, Yesterday I wrote several thousand thoughts on your question of what too change. I deleted the post as as after I read it I found that typing that much on a phone causes many errors. Short answer... Don't change. Reason..... When I ran my business in the beginning I changed several times to gain additional customer base. Findings...... Every change is short lived success followed by the outcry to change again. Success comes slowly stays and grows, change you will gain some and loose some. Just advice from an old man, best you can do is follow your heart. Take care, stay safe, be well Wild man
I tend to agree with what you said and have noticed the same. This is a high quality challenge, well filmed, and we put our souls into it, people will come or not and if they don't so be it. @@wildman4270
Just a quick question. Have you ever tried putting pealed apples in the duck cavity and roasting/stewing it that way? It just sounded like it would be tasty. 8-)
When you are sitting around during the daylight take your shotgun and make sure it is unloaded. Pull it up to your shoulder and make sure you are looking at the rear sight and the front sight is lined up with it. Do it until every time you bring the shotgun up it ends up in that same place. Do it by yourself so you are really careful to do it right every time. When you end up with the gun mounted correctly you will find you can hit what you are aiming at because you are likely not ending up with the front sight and the rear sight lined up now. It may sound silly but it is an easy exercise, doesn't take a lot of time and it will improve your results.
This is so cool that way you guys are filming this. I suggest anyone that is new to the channel go back to the beginning and watch the other challenges starting with Challenge 1 or if you don't want to go back that far just start with the first episode of challenge 4 with Fowler and Chris they are filming it in a way where Chris's episode I'm sorry the wooded beardsman episodes will come out first and then Fowler's episodes will come out later which I think is awesome. Good job I think you guys have a good shot at gaining or at least retaining your weight on this challenge. Good on you boys
I don't know who dislikes videos like this you are living in the wild and trying to survive not killing animals for fun and from what I'm seeing you guys eating all that you catch and not wasting it .... so thank you for the things that most of us cant do. stay safe

My great uncle had a local give him a steer. After humanely euthanizing it, my cousin and I helped him tie the carcass up and prep it. Some of the best meat I've ever had. For anyone wondering, there's roughly 4,077 calories in a pound of fat, at roughly 453 grams per pound, and 9 calories per gram. The same amount of protein would only supply 1,812 calories from either carbs or protein...and considering how hard Chris & Zach's bodies are working to not only harvest firewood, and paddle that heavily laden canoe, they're also striving to stay warm (fat + water = burning enough calories to stay warm in winter, so hydrate in winter, not just in summer!)...that's a lot of calories, yes, but still not quite enough! (The recommended 2,000-2,500 calories a day is based on our modern sedentary lives.)
How do you clean and store all your pots, pans and Dutch oven. I’m trying to find the best way to store and fine the better cookware. What would be your recommendation on that.
Awesome stuff Chris! Headed to the White Mts. for a long get away this weekend, your videos are truly inspiring. Was curious if you tried the merganser? I've heard they're not the best eating birds out there. Excited to see where the next challenge takes you.
I've finally had some free time to watch the previous 4 episodes. Personally I'm not to keen on the fat in food especially in meat but when I see you cooking the meat it looks so good man. I'm sure I'd eat any type of meat or stew you made :).
Dont listen to nobody who downs you guys. This is a lost art. Not many people can do this anymore and its sad. I think its very important to know these skills I love what you do dont ever stop
A great product to take out is TrueLemon powder. It can be bought in these little packets like the little salt pkgs at fast food places...only they are tiny Mylar pkgs. One pkg would have kept your applesauce from turning brown. Sprinkle it on fish and on boy it's good. I think it's pure juice crystallized into a fine grain powder. I always tuck a handful into my bedroll.
I made it all the way here and it was so good I kept going without thumbs up'ing the vids. Welp, I have my work cut out for me. Time to thumbs up all the vids I've watched this far. Lol
Just last year me buddy nearly lost his home while rendering the oil out of bear fat. He was out of his home for over three months for repairs. I made some beard oil out of it! Yup, it's a fantastic resource and would have been a blessing for early people for all kinds of issues we take for granted.

Are there any risks associated with exposing the cast iron to direct flames? All I know about cast iron is limited to using pans on a stovetop. Heating them on high heat instead of medium heat can warp the bottom over time, and leaving them on high heat for a while can burn off the seasoning where it's in direct contact with the element. Those big pots look like ideal wilderness/outdoors gear if you're trying to make a big meal. The only way I could see the cooking get better is if it were on some kind of tripod so that you didn't need to let the fire burn down to coals. That might run into the problem I mentioned earlier though.
Hi ya WB! Congratulations on ur wing shot, that’s awesome! Though Zack forgot his pole, and it might have been boring to watch u fish, me, I would have found something else to do while u caught fish that I would not have found boring to eat! I loved the simple ness of Zacks bench, that was cool, question...what’s with the pumpkin in the back of the vehicle? Thank u
I was hoping to do a celebration meal with it. It's from my garden so do up a fall meal with it. I ended up doing one with Jeremy which will air much later.
Would love to invite you to Newfoundland, but dont think we could offer much here that you dont have in OT. Maybe seal in the spring, loads of shellfish and spring greens, although seal season is a bit early for greens. Amazing amount of fat on seal and you can take 4 a day if I remember correctly, as long as there is a market/use for them. The coastal Inuit survived on seal by eating the eyes, organs and fat. Oh and we don't club them like you see in the green peace videos, we use guns.

@@TheWoodedBeardsman I see, I didn't see any clips of you plucking them so I assumed you either weren't cooking them this episode or you weren't gonna eat them on film. Great video, keep them coming!
@Dean Exactly my point, I get very annoyed with people who try to judge others for harvesting certain fish or animals, because they "ASSUME" they taste bad, don't knock it, till you try it!
Have you ever used Tony's seasoning salt? I literally don't go anywhere without it because it's good on anything, you could add it to a shoe and it would be fire.

We do cook them! I don't think I talk much about their taste, but they were fine eating! Little more fishy, but I eat fish, so whatever :)
You make me so hungry watching this
Have you ever used Tony's seasoning salt? I literally don't go anywhere without it because it's good on anything, you could add it to a shoe and it would be fire.
Haven't tried it yet!
You have probably heard this before and I think you have mentioned it but you need to be on the show Alone!
