First you need to understand that this was ordered by Allah, if anything is ordered by him then we know that his way is right and justly even if we don’t understand why. We also need to clarify that this happened in a society that didn’t have a proper education system and that there was no such thing as a ‘teenager’ but rather just adults and children. Children didn’t go to school but were taught how to live among the desert and become mature. Once they reached puberty they became adults and were ready for the world in that sense (to get married). Also this was done 1400 years ago, you can’t compare a society then with a society now. Even 200 years ago, the age of consent was 7 in various places. And maybe 100 years from now the age of 16 will be too young for consent and it will end up being 20, who knows. So who is right in that sense? Prophet Muhammad was never an immoral person but Allah’s favourite creation.
If he wanted to get a small girl just to convey the Deen to the world ...he could have just adopted her as a daughter ...instead of marrying her when he was her grandfathers age ...doesn't make any sense ...how can the role model the greatest of humans the prophet do something like this...he should rather stop such acts of child marriage to set an example for the followers ...
Remember this was 1400 years ago. A kid is now considered a kid until the age of 18. A kid was considered a kid till the age of 9, 1400 years ago. Times have changed, “tradition” has changed. We can’t change history, but we have changed our mindsets to kids still being immature till the age of 18 when some 10 year olds are mathematical geniuses than adults. marrying a child in todays norms is clearly not okay. youre comparing todays norms with the norms. let me say it clearly 1400 years ago. the age of puberty hitting then was different. their regulations and rules were different to todays norms. As a Muslim I find it hard to justify this marriage. I have already heard/read the justifications of it being common practise then, her reaching puberty, to spread Islam and ideal marriage examples through hadiths, her being his closest friend’s daughter etc. I’m not convinced because mentally she could not have been developed enough to comprehend it and accept it. Also if it was “normal” at that time, it isn’t something most people would do now but the actions of Prophet are supposed to be universal and for all-time. And this example does not make logical sense to happen.

In hot regions girls reach puberty earlier, whereas in cold polar regions puberty may be delayed until the age of twenty-one years. At-Tirmidhi said: ‘Aa’ishah said: When a girl reaches the age of nine years, she is a woman. Sunan at-Tirmidhi (2/409) Imam ash-Shaafa‘i said: In Yemen I saw many girls aged nine who had reached puberty. Siyar A‘laam an-Nubala’ (10/91) Al-Bayhaqi (1588) narrated that ash-Shaafa‘i said: The earliest age at which I heard of girls reaching puberty was the women of Tihaamah who reach puberty at the age of nine. Ash-Shaafa‘i also said: In San‘aa’ I saw a grandmother who was twenty-one years old; she reached puberty at the age of nine and gave birth at the age of ten, and her daughter reached puberty at the age of nine and gave birth at the age of ten. Then khadija told him that it had to be angel gabriel and that he must be a prophet. Khadija at that time was ofcourse a pegan. Also adoption in Islam is forbidden. Because the prophet lusted after his adopted son's wife. So his son had to divorce her, so the prophet can marry her. When he did that, the pegans in his region mocked him and condemned him for such an act. So he received the ayah that forbidded adoption instead.

Their judgement is based on our societal norms of today. Back then marrying that young was normal and no one had a problem with it. Even Prophet Muhammad's (Peace Be Upon Him) worst enemies did not use this against him as an insult because it was just a societal norm at the time. You can't apply societal norms of today to what was normal 1400 years ago. If for example you marry someone who is 19 years old today and 100 years from now the age of marriage changes to 25 for example, does that mean you are a pedo? No it doesn't because 19 was a valid and normal age of marriage today.

Why couldn’t allah tell Mohammad that 9 year old girls with periods still have the same mentality and mind as 9 year olds before their periods. Im a girl I got my period at 9 and you don’t develop romantic interest until you get older. Girls usually get romantic interest later in puberty. Also 9-11 is when you start puberty and growing into a woman’s body. 16-18 is when you fully develop as a woman. Women in their 20’s are most fertile. First you need to understand that this was ordered by Allah, if anything is ordered by him then we know that his way is right and justly even if we don’t understand why. We also need to clarify that this happened in a society that didn’t have a proper education system and that there was no such thing as a ‘teenager’ but rather just adults and children. Children didn’t go to school but were taught how to live among the desert and become mature. Once they reached puberty they became adults and were ready for the world in that sense (to get married). Also this was done 1400 years ago, you can’t compare a society then with a society now. Even 200 years ago, the age of consent was 7 in various places. And maybe 100 years from now the age of 16 will be too young for consent and it will end up being 20, who knows. So who is right in that sense? Prophet Muhammad was never an immoral person but Allah’s favourite creation.

As a Muslim I find it hard to justify this marriage. I have already heard/read the justifications of it being common practise then, her reaching puberty, to spread Islam and ideal marriage examples through hadiths, her being his closest friend’s daughter etc. I’m not convinced because mentally she could not have been developed enough to comprehend it and accept it. Also if it was “normal” at that time, it isn’t something most people would do now but the actions of Prophet are supposed to be universal and for all-time. And this example does not make logical sense to happen.

Based on that, the Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) consummated his marriage with ‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) when she had reached puberty.

Their judgement is based on our societal norms of today. Back then marrying that young was normal and no one had a problem with it. Even Prophet Muhammad's (Peace Be Upon Him) worst enemies did not use this against him as an insult because it was just a societal norm at the time. You can't apply societal norms of today to what was normal 1400 years ago. If for example you marry someone who is 19 years old today and 100 years from now the age of marriage changes to 25 for example, does that mean you are a pedo? Why couldn’t allah tell Mohammad that 9 year old girls with periods still have the same mentality and mind as 9 year olds before their periods. Im a girl I got my period at 9 and you don’t develop romantic interest until you get older. Girls usually get romantic interest later in puberty. Also 9-11 is when you start puberty and growing into a woman’s body. 16-18 is when you fully develop as a woman. Women in their 20’s are most fertile. This is how allah made humans so why didn’t he tell Mohammed and the culture he is in that marrying 9 year olds is wrong???
