Foreign names that belong only to the unbelievers
It is makruh to use foreign names that belong only to the unbelievers.
The proud Muslim who is content with his religion will avoid this and not come anywhere near it. The temptation to use these names is very strong in our time, and a Muslim might pick up any name from Europe and America. This is the worst type of sin and a sign of humiliation and defeat. If this imitation of the unbelievers and using their names is merely the matter of whims and stupidity, it is nevertheless a major sin; if it is done because one actually believes these names are better than Muslim names, then this is a devastating blow to the foundation of faith. In either case, the person who has done this must hasten to repent, and changing the name is a condition of repentance.

My son is named huzaifa, which I don't think is to hard to pronounce but his teachers aren't that familiar with Muslim names and still call him "huzefah" prounced as I've just wrote it, it used to frustrate me but at the end of the day, we live in England with a lot of people who can't pronounce some Islamic names properly, it's not their fault or like they are doing it on purpose and they are not bad for getting it wrong, my parents and grandparents are non Muslim and my grandparents are quite old now and do still pronounce his name a little bit wrong, but they are not had as its not the kind of names they have been used to all their lives.
My daughters name is anaya which is easy but bevause of the spelling on first meeting some people say it wrong at first. I've just gotten used to it and accepted that,
If I was to have any more children I think I would probably pick more simpler/easier Islamic names although I love less common names, but we live in the UK and there will be people who say the names wrong sometimes.

From what I understood it’s not bad but it does mean naked in Arabic. I’m Spanish and my husband is Muslim and his family told me that was not a very suitable name as it meant naked.

It is more important that you teach a child of that age the lessons and values from the Quran. Making a 6 year old child memorize the Quran when he/she doesnt know the meaning of what they're reading might be of no use to them but teaching them important lessons and telling them stories from the Quran will spark their interest more and help them grow in the right path

The easiest way to find out if a name has a different connotation in the local language, ask your friends and coworkers what they think. I had a coworker who named her daughter something that was hard to pronounce but we didn't want to offend her so we called the baby "your daughter".

MashaAllah, lovely video.I changed my name to Meryem(Mariam) after I reverted when moving to Turkey. My daughtere is Sümeyye and my son is Ahmet (Ahmad) Ali. I battled to find a name for my daughter until I was almost due, during the month of Ramadhan, whilst watching a islam professor on tv and there was a caller who said his wife was having a baby and it was a girl, what should he name her, the professor then said 'Sumeyye'. My husband and I looked straight at each other...😅 And we had a name! She was born on the evening of Laylatul Quadr. Alhamadulillah. May May Allah bless all our children. Ameen.
