This guy is an absolute legend. He has done this for 50 years and you can tell he still puts his heart and soul in to making these. It is just incredible.
😅
Heartbreaking seeing him with no hearing protection.
Im gonna throw a spanner into your works here. us westerners have this idealised idea of thinking about craftsmen like him, we have this notion that they had some calling or some deep spiritual tie or something meta-fantastical calling them to this vocation and each item they produce has some meaning. but its completely different. so I flew to Japan and was lucky enough to meet a togishi (sword polisher) they are rated as one the highest grade craftsmen in the country as you need to a min of 10 years internship to become one. I was also lucky enough to film and interview him and I was under the impression I was going to learn something about work passion and get a deeper understanding of the universe through his wisdom as he had been doing it for over 40 years. Thats were I met the asian equation. They dont have this idillic fantasy about heart n soul being put into their work. They have a different mindset. You make a choice about what you want to do in life and then you just keep doing it over and over until you die. you make that choice once and you stick to it. you wake up and you work and you do your best, gambatte! you also dont over think it, you just do. start at point A and end at B, and repeat everyday. I remember during the interview I was trying to get out of him al kinds of deeper meanings and thought processes and he kept looking at me confused and just said, I like swords and I get up everyday and I polish them. nothing else to it. you just do it. I dont think about anything, I just work
I absolutely agree with your ideas… I think these guys wake up in the morning , go to the shop and say “Oh goody, I get to make Hammers today. That for them is the universe…

Just love watching the craftsmanship and skill they put into such a simple tool. What we take for granted is a masterpiece.
Those hammers are for a lifetime of use they are not cheap made like mass produced things.
I find it fascinating how in the middle of the 21st century they have such an appreciation for art and traditions to continue manufacturing these incredible tools.
I find such knowledge, wisdom and worship of their traditions invaluable.I would love to have one of those hammers. Thanks for sharing this beautiful video.
Hug from Uruguay!
I used to watch his youtube channel but he hasn't posted anything in years.
Glad to see he is alive and working on a true master of his craft.
lovely watching a master craftsman at work! Was curious to look up the location so used your google maps link in description. Places like this fascinate me about Japan, smaller countryside locations, filled with farmland... yet of course 2 vending machines right outside! Google haven't been out there to "update" the location on street view in almost 10 years but I would place good money on the vending machines (and everything else) still being the same. Thanks for an excellent video! ❤
the more i watched youtube the more i discover fascinating about japan and it's seems endless. i just thought that i knew a lot.
amazing japan!
Superb skills. Thank you for sharing a true blacksmiths work.
Totally admire the attention to details, the single mindness to achieve perfection. The true indicater of a Mastercraftman. It's a joy and honor to watch him work. Thank you.
There is a Craftsman ! …..thanks for sharing !
There are far too few dedicated craftsmen like yourself in our high speed world. Thank you for the time in your shop.

Thank you for your work. The ancient skills are fascinating to watch.
A craftsman at work. Beautiful tools. Thanks for showing
Beautiful work throughout. I hope you will pass on what you know to a interested youth to keep the skill alive. Thank you.
The skill of this craftsman is excellent and unique, your traditional hammers are very beautiful
Good luck
Only in Japan you see an old man doing a teenager job. Iron work is not easy and still this man does it amazingly with the hands of an artisan
He takes great pride in his craftsmanship o the extent of signing his name. The builder of the engine in my car did the same and I am grateful for his craftsmanship.
Benar-benar masih tradisional sekali cara membuat palunya..hasilnya pun sangat bagus...👍🙏
That is a good quality hammer 👍 you did a nice job on the details 😀✌️❤️
amazing work! I would love to have one of those in my workshop!
@@david-ow3nv why does people like fine things in life? I use tools in my daily life and this is an excellent product with a nice story behind it, why not?
Beautiful work by a master craftsman. I Enjoyed the video very much. Stay safe.
Making something to the best of your ability and skills, and put your name on it is impressive.
Beautiful. Such care and dedication put into such a narrow focus.
Beautiful work mesmerizing watching a master craftsman doing a great job.
This is art and soul. I am so happy watching this precious video, thank you.
The way the dunking of the hammer lines up with the music at 10:23 is so damn satisfying
All work. No talk. Just the sounds of tools. Perfecto.
This is absolute art
Thank you for sharing it with us
The craftsmanship that goes along with this is astronomical!!
Beautiful blacksmithing. Thank you for letting us into the workshop. 👏👏😁🇦🇺
It's amazing how you can give a few simple tools to some people and they can produce tools like this. HUGE RESPECT!
If I was ever lucky enough to purchase one, I’m not sure I could actually use it because each one is a masterpiece!
.. part of the magic of these masterpieces is that they only get better with use. That hardened steel face? It gets a teeny bit harder with each blow. The handle gains a little more character every time it's in your hand. I love my hand-forged Japanese chef's knives. Each one gets a little more character and beauty every time they're used and sharpened. They're not just beautiful to look at, they're beautiful to use!
110% Focus, Great tradition and amazing results, in God’s own country - Japan 🇯🇵
5 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is not a hammers. This is not a ordinary tools. This is a work of art. Im a blacksmith myself. I bow deeply to this master craftsman.
Watching him hammer that nail all the way in at the end, rather than leave it 1/8 inch proud so he could pull it out, broke my heart.

Gorgeous work from master craftsman
Amazing! Even his signature is a work of art.
Beautiful to watch!
I love interesting and different tools - I'd be facinated to know where you could buy one of these ... ( not close enough to drive over 😎😁)
🇬🇧In the only one authentic Japanese carpentry in Spain we use the hammers made by the blacksmith in the video named Masatsura (Masayuki Baba) He really is the best hammer maker of the world and is a pride for HAYABUSA to have his work in our workshop.🙏🏻
Very skilled man, high quality hammers

This is just a guess here, but I imagine he has made a few of these in his lifetime. He makes it look so simple.
I have several of these hammers. I love woodworking with them
Stunning. I want one. That man is beyond an artist, he is an athlete. Those moves he was making on that hammer press were like ballet and kung fu all at once.
Awesome. Would have loved to own one of these hand-made hammers.
Like it ! This is high end woodworker hammer.
It's always great to watch a master craftsman. I hope he has an apprentice or two that he his passing is great knowledge on to.
And now, how to find and purchase one of his hammers. 🙂
Merci pour cette très belle vidéo……
I make lots of hammers. Now I find that I’m not as good at it as I thought.
Beautiful! Where do I buy one?
A true Labour of love !
Just amazing . A autentic artístic work.
Excelente trabalho!
Well done, keep it up, thanks for sharing it with us :)
Fantastic,mesmerizing. 😊
