OMG.....you had me sweating ..... I tried knitting cables without a cable needle and one of my stitches dropped.....I cried for 15 minutes and haven't cabled since..... but i need to try again.....I Love the Video

I can see why the cable needle is better. Trying to move the stitches off and on the needles without the cable needle seems like more of a pain in the butt than just picking up a cable needle and using it. Thank you so much for showing this technique though!!

Your "how-to" knitting videos are the best I've found! They are detailed, sharp, thorough, and very easy on the eyes. Thanks so much for all your hard work making knitting easy for us out here in cyberspace!
(P.S. I'm going to go download your "fingerless glove videos" right around now. Can't wait to try them!)
Please, keep making such helpful videos!

Your best bet is to start with a pattern that will give you some direction in making cables. Then you might want to watch my video called "Knitting Help - Cables" for a basic review of how to do them. Sorry - TH-cam won't let me give you a link here in the comments, but you can find the video by searching my channel page. Hope that helps!

I've been struggling to learn a basic cable stitch and my dyslexia has me all turned around. I'm finding that adding a 3rd needle to the mix actually just makes it more confusing, but seeing you use this method makes a lot more sense of things. I'm going to go try it now. :) Thank You!

this will help my cables go faster, having to set the extra needle up and down takes a lot of extra time. I am making a blanket right now and there is about 42 cables every four rows.

Your videos are so helpful. Right now I'm doing a cardigan whose design incorporates numerous two-stitch cables. I prefer using a needle too, but with so many of them...and just with one stitch transferring over to the cn...this method really helps speed things up and cuts down on frustration. Wonderful instructions, as always.

By far the easiest cabling w/o needle technique I have seen, so far. There are quite a few other videos posted by great knitting tutorial youtubers, but I have to say this is the easiest. Thanks for posting!

Great tutorial, but I, like you, prefer the cable needle. It is no harder to wield than double pointed needles in my opinion. I love the look of cables (working on a beautiful pattern now actually; that's what brought me here). I really like your tutorials!

That was so informative, thank you. I also like how you showed how to change the cable, I'm a beginner and your explanation made so much sense!

I've only ever made two cabled projects. Both were scarves, and I used a cable needle. I'm about to start a cardigan which has a cabled pattern repeat, so I think I'm going to try this method. Thanks so much for yet another great tutorial! (Whenever I need to learn a new technique, I always search through your videos first.)
