  • Hello Makers and Welcome to the EarthtonesGirl Channel, My name is Denise and this is my space to share, inspire and encourage in my earthy tone of voice.
    The Sock Shortys will be a series of short video tutorials on various topics relating to sock knitting. For example, washing socks, using sock blockers, stitch markers and progress keepers, etc. I will also be covering how to customize your socks by way of gauge, different cast ons, texture patterns, heels etc. My goal for this series is to empower the not-so-new-anymore sock knitter to take things to the next level, increase their skills and continue on their sock knitting journey with confidence.

    1x1 RIGHT AND LEFT LEANING CABLE/TWIST WITHOUT A CABLE NEEDLE
    How do you knit a 1x1 right or left leaning cable, also known as right or left twist? It's easier than you think. In this tutorial I will demonstrate two methods of knitting each of those cables with only your knitting needles.
    These "baby cables" as I like to call them create the textured pattern in my new sock pattern, One More Step. This pattern will be released the second week of June.

    Hello Denise, This video has helped me when I required these instructions most. As I am working on a dish towel that calls for the right and left leaning twist stitch. And as I began my search for instructions your tutorial popped up! A very clear and informative tutorial. Thank you Denise!

    You've read my mind as I've been thinking about finding another textured sock pattern. Who knew it would be baby cables! As I am fully addicted to knitting socks, I surprised myself when I thought 'I have the perfect yarn for this'. Closing in on the toes of my 11th pair since September.

    Thank you for this quality tutorial. I have done both methods many times, but sometimes I need a refresher when I haven’t done the twist stitch in awhile, so no doubt I will be referring to this video again. I appreciate that you used your actual project to demonstrate. For some reason, I feel compelled to cast on a pair of socks on two circs immediately. 😀

    Your directions for both left and right twists are super clear. Thanks! The one issue that I have had, however, with these approaches is having trouble unknitting them when I spot a mistake. It is easy to unknit these twists when made with a cable needle, but I have not mastered frogging these twists. Could you demonstrate that in a subsequent video? Thanks!

      @EarthtonesgirlPodcast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m so glad you found the tutorial helpful and clear. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!!!
      I absolutely understand the trouble/issue frogging twists. I will definitely consider it for a future tutorial!!

    • @EarthtonesgirlPodcast
      @EarthtonesgirlPodcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much. And no there's no trick, you just "tink"/unknit the stitches one at a time.

  • @lesamatthes7811

    I appreciate the video but I sure wish there were some kind of written instruction in the One More Step pattern. I had to stop working on this sock until I had internet signal. 🙃

    • @lesamatthes7811
      @lesamatthes7811 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I want to amend my earlier comment. Having worked through this part now, I realize it would be very difficult - if not nearly impossible - to create verbal/pictorial instructions - for this process. It is great to have two methods for each cable. ❤

    Is it unwise to try this as 2 socks at a time?

    • @EarthtonesgirlPodcast
