Love this review. 🙏 I am trading in my 30i for the M40i on Wednesday. The 30i has been excellent but I have had the M40i engine in a 2 series before and just couldn’t resist. I am getting every option going but not paying anywhere near the list price. There are so many buying options these days that it helps to drive a ‘true’ market price. The list price seems just a starting point to negotiate down from. So that leaves me about as excited as I was on Christmas Eve 1973 !! 😊

When you buy a BMW Z4 , your buying German build quality and driving refinement and performance that no other manufacturer can provide you. You cant compare the design style that this car was created with the odd intergalactic futuristic BS style that the new corvette has or the egg shape style that the Mercedes has or the Toyota kids car has. This a refined gentleman's car and you have to pay the price to join this unique level of drivers machines. If you cant afford it then buy yourself a POS Nissan , Subaru or Toyota, Mitsubishi and don't badger the BMW brand.
Cheapest Z4 M40i on BMW website is £33500 with only 6k miles done. I guess it can be negotiated for a little less. Not a bad price for nearly a new car. F-Type V6S is a better choice for me personally, it is a more exotic looking and sounding car which earlier model can be bought for around £25-35k.
Only one life - used Miata is virtually same driving experience or better for a fraction of cost which makes you happy and piece of mind. I have a 2008 Miata PRHT GT. Cost-$10k. Drive it daily and it’s a blast!

I don't know who said this car doesn't look good, but they are flat out WRONG. Looks better than a Supra in person or even a Boxster with its odd dimensions (the new Boxster Spyder maybe looks better though)

The switch to 4K video is much appreciated but somehow there is still quite a bit of strange fuzziness and/or lack of detail. It might be TH-cam compression but I also think the video's bitrate may be a factor. I hope you get as much use as you can out of this new camera!

An M4 starts at 69k, but since its at EOL, you might be able to get it cheaper. Personally, my pick would be a Giulia Quadrifoglio (74k). I will not touch the C8 with a mile long pole. I would wait a few years a buy it when it drops to 15 to 20K, which it will do here in the UK. Brand new ones are already being discounted to less than 50K GBP, some with just 1000 to 3000 miles are available for around 43K

2020 Vette is so good that the haters have bring up past quality and use plastic as a pejorative instead of fiberglass...super sophisticated, reinforced fiberglass that does not dent and saves weight. BTW, the 911 still has it's engine in the wrong place and this z4 only comes as a automatic. Nobody cares. Great cars are great cars.
C8 are cool but the comfort on a bmw is always going to be better then any american I driven. BMW is well balanced power, comfort, stability. While american cars have alot more power to offer there comfort and stability sucks. Reliability and style. Bmws looks great for a long time an as long as you stay up with maintenance you should do fine.
Well. If u live in other countries than America the taxes are going to rise in price compared to how much it is in America so it might be like 5-10k more than the Z4.
Lovely car, looks to me like a modern interpretation of the Honda S2000, in a good way, especially if you squint 🚙🧐 Thankfully it’s looks much better than it’s truly ugly sister, the Toyota Supra 🚗🤢 I agree with Kumo and the brown leather with this grey Surprisingly they don’t hold their value and you can get a nice one this side of the pond for less than £40k second hand and for only a few quid more that 8 series you tried , but with a Diesel engine and that’s the sweet spot for that You should have a nosey on UK AutoTrader 👍🏻

Matt creato g excuses for terrible steering. That seems to be all that BMW does these day is make excuses. Whether it's there grills or steering or interiors. Excuses. I will say I find the Z4 way better looking that the Zupra and doesnt have the amature wind buffering issues. Too bad about that insane price with options that should be standard. I'd do Mustang GT350 for that price
