"Jeska's will is like day trading, Birgi is like your 401k" is one of the funniest, most correct analogies I've ever heard Also, when you do your OTJ episode, if you decide to play the new Obeka, you should call the deck "What's upkeep? Nothing much, how about you"
I built a deck for the new Obeka its called "It smells like upkeep in here". built it as high power with my brother but I really think she's either casual casual or cedh.
@@floridaman633 I don't think she's cedh, 3 different pips means she's hard to drop on 2, so you have to drop her on 3 and attack on 4, and the effects you want to proc are not that good if you aren't getting them immediately and duplicated/can guarantee you will even get them once (like the courts) It can be decently high power imho, I've had games of dropping her relatively early and doing things like dropping some courts (like the black one that makes you discard, or the red one that does 7 damage) and do quite strong things but I haven't played a ton of games Edit: smells like upkeep in here is a much better name, can't believe I went with what I did
Another BIG upside for Imperial Recruiter in some decks: find Kitten. Cast some noncreature spell, blink Recruiter for Dockside, then go nuts! Imperial Recruiter is essentially an A+B, then.
This is obviously a joke, but I do wonder how much of a deck you could make using only cards that have abilities from hand/graveyard etc without necessarily being spells. It wouldnt be a good deck, but it would be interesting
42:00 when cam said he plays by fire emblem rules, i do the same thing with pokemon. less than a 65% chance is functionally zero, while 90% is functionally 100%
This seems correct. I think the biggest draw to playing mono or two color red decks is the strength of some of the commanders. Magda and Godo are still powerful magic cards with great strategies, and to a lesser extent so are Birgi and Urabrask. In R/X colors you have Etali, Krark/Sak, ObNix, etc, where your lack of card depth is made up for by the absurd strength of your command zone. I think the only 2 additions I might have made to this list are Heat Shimmer (since it can copy opposing things like Dockside, Ranger Captain, and so on) and Tibalt's Trickery, which has been WAY better for me than I thought it would be.
I would have liked to hear about some other win conditions from red, like Duel Caster or Kiki-Jiki. Those probably would have been 3 somethings. I also would have liked to hear about red copy effects, twinflame, heatshimmer, and cursed mirrior. (Also probably 3 or even 2.5 somethings) Tbh, you guys got the important stuff, so good episode.
I feel like Kiki and DCM are solid win conditions but kind of lackluster on their own. Heat Shimmer, on the other hand, is powerful just as a card. Copy your dockside. Copy someone ELSES dockside. Copy a Gilded Drake. Copy your Etali. The applications for that card are huge, even outside the combo
@@ghost64626 honestly dont mind that one tbh. A white guide isn't bad at the most you turn 1 you tutor for a mana crypt or any other artifact. wouldn't be that bad🤧

Wheel has frequently started to demand answers from my opponents when it is also paired with Bowmasters- it is pressuring out options from a lot of folks, and sometimes ends up killing opponents, or removing entire swathes of the board to set up wins. It can give my opponents full grips, to be sure, but the incidental value ends up pretty big. I like the rating the card got, but I thinks its relevance under Bowmaster- my own (and my opponents') is an interesting vector.
Deflecting swat doesn't go into Evelyn because she is the payoff for Worldgorger dragon and if you cast her before, it's a 5 mana draw 4 if she hits that won't necessarily get you what you need
Does Deflecting Swatting a Peer into The Abyss really function so that you can redirect the draw to yourself but the original caster still loses half their life? PITA is worded so that target player draws the cards and loses the life, so wouldn't the swatter in this case draw the cards and also lose the life?
Another huge difference between Rite of Flames and Simian Spirit Guide is needing to commit a mana, potentially of any color, into RR instead of RX. Additionally, you can monkey blast while tapped out!
I cut jeska will from my thrasios vial deck. Because my list plays 5 red spells so both the exile cards effect and the red mana just showed to be utterly useless.

Red Elemental Blast can't do that since it specifically says target blue spell or permanent
I think this is the one of these lists I've disagreed with the most so far. Obviously the top few are fine, but below that I think my ordering would be pretty different.
The only time I’ve seen Ragavan be relevant is when someone casts an Imperial Seal and forgot about Ragavan. I’ve never seen it get more than 2-3 treasures over the course of a game, and that’s only if it’s played on turn one. So I’d rate that one lower than a 4
