Started playing a really strong Myrkul deck, not sure if its quite cedh level, but ranger captain eos basically just wins the game by himself by fetching me ballista and then preventing opponents from stopping the infinite pings.
Honestly, this undersells the Ranger Captain Esper Sentinel Dynamic. It's got Esper Sentinel stapled to it - unless something else happens to be even better than esper sentinel, then it gets that instead. Which is a completely insane sentence.
I look forward to these videos every week! Y’all got me into cedh , and I’m going to my 4th tournament tomorrow. I’ll use this info to help my future victory ✌️❤
Trouble in Pairs is actually insane in my Tivit list. 4 mana investment is a lot of course. But being an enchantment means it's harder to remove and puts in so much work.
Haven't even started watching yet and just want to say seeing this video pop up in my feed makes my day that much better. Appreciate you two, (and I suppose Tyler too :P )
One thing to consider for solitude in blue decks: you may have the counter spells which make its effect less good but you also have car draw which makes the pitch a little bit less painful.
Hey there! So our group does a "cedh draft" we draft for a 60 card deck first then draft commanders after that. We also have some "blank" partner commanders to draft that have no abilities except partner & are two colored & it helps immensely. Feels pretty balanced & fun :)
It's an insane defensive card in casual because it deals with Farewell, and for voltron it will protect all the stuff on your commander from Shatterstorm and Tranquility cards. But I suppose those aren't much of a consideration in CEDH
Cards which id consider to put on the list: Serra ascendand, Blind obedience, deafening silence, mother of runes(or the other versions of thag effect), maybe also trouble in paris although i can see why its not on this list.
I would LOVE Green to get some form of Esper Sentinel/Mystic Remora/Rhystic Study effect - maybe something like a 0/1 Forest Creature - unsure how they could make that effect in Green...
I have been playing Tymna Dargo almost exclusively this year. Playing white is so fun. Silencing is so powerful, and for me as a player, so much more comforting than trying to win a counter war. I forget if it was you guys or another podcast where they called Smothering Tithe "white Omnipotence". It has been the top performer in the deck.
No humility or angels grace mentions is wild to me. I feel like both cards do a very strong effect especially humility and its mass creature opression. Maybe its too much mana but id play that over the treasure maker for sure
As someone that loves white in general, this list is so good. It definitely shows a more recent change in philosophy for white in the last few years though, considering how many of these cards are relatively new.
Would a cedh draft game work? Where all four players draft their decks this? (Cam takes Dockside at 1st round 1st pick, Dylan takes Rhystic as 1st round 2nd pick, Tyler takes Thoracle as 1st round 3rd pick, etc) and put them in a pile? Or would the synergies fall apart? Obviously the land base would probably need to be exempted. Great idea for an episode if it would work, and would allow some interesting analysis of whether having the only Rhystic at a table means you're just going to win.
@@jacob510 yes, but in my head it'd not be random. Pick the 400 best cedh cards and round robin. I think I definitely prefer Cam's idea of choosing commanders after, or there'd be too much temptation to pick four 5 color commanders and it would break things too much. I'd also probably allow the land base to be assembled after for the same reason. It's a lot of work, and it might immediately fall apart because Cam took Thoracle and Dylan took Demonic Consultation, but I could see several episodes from the idea. 3 or 4 part series on the draft itself, one on the design of the draft, at least a few gameplay videos.
@CHoustonify I've cubed like that it's fun. I've also found, for my cube at least, drafting lands separately was the way to go, so I do that after drafting the spells. But I usually do the Commanders first, I'll have to try doing Commanders last
11:25 cavern naming human plays so many of your white cards it’s insane. Grand abolisher, esper sentinel, ranger captain, magistrate, Serra ascendant… the list is kind of endless
I have loooved Touch the Spirit Realm in my casual blink decks for exactly the versatility you mentioned in this episode. Glad it’s getting some cEDH appreciation!
I’ve ‘drafted’ Cedh by doing a fantasy football style draft. If you did a traditional draft you’d need like ~8 packs each and not needing to pick a good commander kills it.
I can't believe how low you rated smothering tithe. It's one of the few cards in the format that warps a game as soon as it touches the board. For me, Smothering tithe, Esper sentinel, Enlightened tutor and the three silence effects (silence, Ranger and Abolisher) are the clear top 6 way above any other white cards (not in that particular order). Sevinne's reclamation, Drannith, Touch the Spirit realm and Swords complete the top 10 in my opinion.
I feel like you guys forgot that gladrials dismissal can target your own stuff/board And save it from whatever removal is targeting you Imagine someone broad wipes and you phase out all your creatures now everyone is far behind and your speeding ahead
In response to a Toxco Deluge or overloaded Cyclonic Rift, or even just spot removal. Because of its wording, it is all of a 1MV removal spell for a turn, a 1MV protection spell, a 4MV response to board wipe or a 4MV single player board wipe. That versatility is great.
Galadriel's Dismissal is good for a deck that has white but also relies on combat triggers to win. Such as Caesar Mardu tokens/aristocrats, or some Boros deck that uses Breath of Fury or similar effects. Phasing out creatures but not the enemy player let's you have the ability to attach without blockers
"The one time that it's worse will be catastrophic" is actually a big reason I don't play Fellwar Stone in most of my casual decks. Played a game once where I was on Zhulodok and someone else was on either Syr Ginger or Liberator, and player 3 got knocked out. Player 4, on Jabari, lost because his Fellwar Stone was no longer online and that *one* mana deficiency cost him the game. Is it likely to happen? Not really. Is it absolutely miserable when it does? For sure.
If you draft the cedh commanders post draft, I think you include the top 20 decks, but the partners are together. Multiple tymna decks; the groups start with 5 per person. That way everyone has access to the colors they need. 3 wubrg decks, 5 dual colors, 8 4 colors, and 4 3 colors. The cube could be real
Grand abolisher can technically be dealt with colossal skyturtle (and similar cards, if there are more channel removal cards), since it is not a creature in hand, but a creature card, but I don't think it actually sees play.
Trouble in Pairs is sooooo good. I've resolved it more than a few times and on average I've drawn 3 to 5 cards before untapping again. It's nutty. Sans blue though.
@spenserroxsox my CEDH friend, sees me draw a minimum of 8 cards a game with it all 3 times now in my isshin deck & he's like nobody else is having that much success with it
cEDH Draft where you don't draft the whole decks- you only draft the staples. So if it is in the cube it is banned UNLESS you draft it. I.E. there is a limited set of "Dockside Extortionist" available- and if you don't draft it, you don't have access to it. Repeat for a curated cube of the major staples, and then allow the players to fill with niche/edge picks from all time and pick their own commanders that fit their color drafts. Loosely inspired by Canadian Highlander's "Point List".
Seeing Dylan's shirt reminds me back in the day I thought it was "dragonballz" ..... New esper sentinel nickname esper remora? (Or is it timewalk or ancestral recall? Lol)
I'm surprised Smothering Tithe doesn't make the top 10 after being the top of the list at some point! In all seriousness, I think there could be a real debate about S. Rec being lower on the list. It isn't the reason any decks play white. It is the reason to play Jeskai because of the combo.
How is Mother of Runes being passed up here? Also the BEST creature wipe white spell is Out Of Time (this can win you the game if you can protect it), Out of Time is in EVERY white deck I build.
If you think about it long enough, Ranger Captain is basically time walk
Maybe an ancestral recall?
Basically
Started playing a really strong Myrkul deck, not sure if its quite cedh level, but ranger captain eos basically just wins the game by himself by fetching me ballista and then preventing opponents from stopping the infinite pings.
“It’s basically time walk” is becoming my new favorite magic meme
Also ancestral recall
The best party of Path is when your opponent forgets it’s a may search ability and loses the thing on top they tutored for
Cam:”If you really think about it, [insert card name] is basically Time Walk”
Dylan: “Yeah!!!!”
Honestly, this undersells the Ranger Captain Esper Sentinel Dynamic. It's got Esper Sentinel stapled to it - unless something else happens to be even better than esper sentinel, then it gets that instead. Which is a completely insane sentence.
22:19 a cEDH cube draft would be a huge project but would be a super cool collaboration opportunity
1 Ranger-Captain of Eos
2 Enlightened Tutor
3 Sevinnes Reclamation
4 Esper Sentinel
5 Silence
6 Sword to Plowshares
7 Drannith Magistrate
8 Grand Abolisher
9 Duantless Dismantler

11 Path to Exile
12 Smothering Tithe
13 Archivist of Oghma
14 Solitude
15 Archon of Emeria

Trouble in Pairs is actually insane in my Tivit list. 4 mana investment is a lot of course. But being an enchantment means it's harder to remove and puts in so much work.
Playing white is getting so much better recently. Dauntless is really strong and archivist is coming out of a few deck lately.
Haven't even started watching yet and just want to say seeing this video pop up in my feed makes my day that much better. Appreciate you two, (and I suppose Tyler too :P )
Been loving the random ITYSL references lmao

Galadriel’s dismissal. I use for defensively as well. Avoid toxic deluges, cyclonic rifts, etc.
Touch the Spirit Realm kinda does it better
It's an insane defensive card in casual because it deals with Farewell, and for voltron it will protect all the stuff on your commander from Shatterstorm and Tranquility cards. But I suppose those aren't much of a consideration in CEDH

White received too much love the last few years, now Green needs a hug 💚
I would LOVE Green to get some form of Esper Sentinel/Mystic Remora/Rhystic Study effect - maybe something like a 0/1 Forest Creature - unsure how they could make that effect in Green...
Green has kynnan though

Galadriel to save your own cards is awesome

0:15 here I am ready for you to rank Humility at the near top of the list just under Esper Sentinel, but I know I’m wrong
I remember during the 'best creatures' podcast, drannith got #1, however, here it's under esper sentinel and ranger captain
Love you guys. And keep up the work. But you can never forget blind Obedience. It goes in every single deck i make. It just put in works for me.
Grand abolisher can technically be dealt with colossal skyturtle (and similar cards, if there are more channel removal cards), since it is not a creature in hand, but a creature card, but I don't think it actually sees play.
Honestly might be crazy, but I've been loving Get Lost. It hitting Underworld Breach is so nice
Wow another ranking episode. Very innovative 🎉
Interesting to see no Teferi's Protection mentioned, is it too slow for cEDH/ leaves yourself open to get comboed while your board is phased out?
Would you be willing to post your Atraxa deck? I’m making mine and want to see where these cards fit it.
Thank you 🙏
Totally not related, but Dylan, your shirt is awesome. Love the content guys.

Do a podcast on how you store your collection
Trouble in pairs has been a extreme over preformer in my play groups. Might want to look into that card it feels like a 4-5
Is dismissal not played on your own stuff as a semi counterspell?
As a mono white player I’m excited to watch this video
Would borimor be a good card for this list ?
No blind obedience?
Galadriels Dismissal CAN protect your own creature, FWIW. phasing out yours when someone points removal at it. Versatility.
dylan where'd you scoop that shirt
If you guys do the cEdh draft with patrons, I'd want to buy into that.
Is rest in peace any good because it gets rid of graveyard and it’s hard to get rid of?
Its not bad but i dont really see cedh decks that would put it in. Such stax pieces are just very bad at the moment.

No reprieve? Even though it's 2 cmc. When I'm not in blue Im a fan
Smothering Tithe in Marneus Calgar is amazing

I hope Trouble in pairs is mentioned. I made a comment before watching the whole thing just to help with engagement

29:42 I tested it in my Rocco list and Dismissal was exceptionally mediocre, Touch is just better.
