Maybe it's useful to say that when you fold the bike, you have to do the trick again to unlock the throttle after unfolding it again. Takes only a few seconds, after getting use to the 4 steps, as Robert mencioned:
Throttle(1)/front brake(2)/back brake(3)/switch on the panel and wait 20 sec.(4). Then switch all off, before start to use it.

What a great helpful video I had that problem with my himo z16 with a S866 display controller I left my himo z16 locked up outside the hospital and some lovely person played with the setting and I couldn't go anywhere. Thanks Scott
Being able to make "changes" is not always a "hack" it is also about safety for a youngster on their first e-bike. Throttle control from start can help with stability so safer when starting off.
This works pretty much on any controller that looks like this at the beginning I thought it would not work for mine but I tried it and works perfectly with my ebike as well. Great info

Missed recording the default settings before embarking on the programming then you mentioned it at the end! No worries I contacted ADO Customer Support and they sent me a list of them!

Thank you sooo much for mentioning that last thing with the factory setting. I bought a brand new e scooter that used the s866 system and the scooter stoped working after 15 mins of use when i first got it. Then it never worked after that. The scooter would not acellerede. So the day before i was about the send the scooter back to the company i found this video. So i found the factory settings for the scooter and it finally worked after spending days trying to get this to ride agian 🙏🙏❤️

Not sure if i've misundersood but i was under the assumption when i purchased the A20F, that it was both pedal assist and throttle as the same time i.e. 1 to 4 pedal assist, 5 throttle?

Absolutely brilliantly explained, as always. Was just wondering if you would be able to expand on P18, 19 & 20 please? Other videos stated that P20 wasn't used, but mine has three settings 0, 1 & 2. Not knowing what ANY of them were for, I fiddled with each one in turn, and then regretted it, as my bike wouldn't work for hours - until I found a factory reset video. I got error codes E 08 & E 030 at different settings of P20. Don't know which setting got them to appear, or what I did to clear them, but they're gone now. Would be good to know what these three settings are for though. My bike is a Heybike Mars (I think - it looks identical to your A20), with an S866 controller. When you buy the bike there are two versions EU and international. Is this the EU version you are doing the hack on. I’m looking at buying this bike and just wondered which one I should get. Cheers. 👍
Now this bike comes without a throttle (pre installed). With the international version, you get sent a rubbish thumb throttle (not a turner throttle like the ones you see on TH-cam).
I was going to order this bike (ADO A20+), but not any more. I'm livid.

P9 none zero start
P10 drive mode 0 ( no assist) 1 ( electric assist) 2 ( both)
P11 the time( in seconds) that takes to let the motor kick in
P12 acceleration strenght
P13 sensor type
P14 control Amp limit
P15 volatge limit ( cuts out when its hitting the named voltage)
P16 reset the speedometer/ odometer
P17 cruise control
P18 display adjustment
P19 zero gear pedal powered or no pedal powered
P20 comunicate with the controler

Thanks for detailed explanation. Have my a20f and I must say I am disappointed. Despite setting P12 to 0 which means acceleration strength set to min, the bike pulls strong each time making a ride far from smooth. I also increased number if gears to 5 and still even at 1st pulls strong making ride on crowded places tricky. Pity it is not torque sensor bike. Any ideas?
You should have got an Engwe engine X. It has no torque sensor but you can control the acceleration strength much easier than this bike because it depends what power setting you choose and it's got 5 of them. Also it has many other advantages over this ebike.
I think I'd be more interested in electric propulsion if sodium ion batteries were used instead of lithium. There is so much sodium around and obtaining sodium is not ecologically destructive as is mining for lithium. Sodium can also be easily neutralised once the cycle life of the battery is over thus making them very easy to dispose of without the toxic hazards associated with lithium products.
Please tell me you're going to try using this or some other off the shelf speed controller to power the magnetically assisted switched reluctance motor. I'm dying to see how much better it can perform while being cheaper than an off the shelf electric motor. You could try making the... stator? (The part that rotates and holds the metal bits that get attracted to the electromagnets) out of newspaper and casein glue composite for a cheaper/lighter? motor.

I'm interested in building a wheelchair based off of mountain bike hub motors. Ideally, it would be joystick driven. How do I go about getting the two motors to talk to each other and the joystick in such a way that they can interpolate say a diagonal input into the necessary speeds for each wheel. Is there a product on the market that would walk me through this? I don't have any coding abilities and I am not terribly skilled on a computer. I have no problem developing the mechanical platform. Is there a particular resource you can point me to?

I'm interested in building a chair that would allow me to go on mountain bike trails and hiking trails again. I believe I need the large wheels and gobs of torque to make it work. I'm also shooting for a somewhat more upright position where the body weight could influence steering. I'm sick of just being able to navigate cities. I hate cities. I want to make a new form of sport. The end goal is for it to be attractive to able-bodied people as well. I have a full machine shop at my disposal, I'm quite stupid when it comes to computers and modern signaling.

Hi I got a city cross ado bike bought of a site their no throttle wit this bike I ave bought a throttle waiting to fit my settings only go to 9 on my display can you help pls
I bought this bike 5 months ago and happy with it, for the price it's worth it. It still needs regular maintenance and tightening every month or so. One thing to note is that it's easy to disable the "Throttle mode" if you turn it on while accidentally holding down one of the breaks or accelerator. This can be confusing especially since the console provides no indication. The battery will only last 30+ KM if you're using a lot of throttle mode only.

Which one of those settings controls the assist for walking the bike uphill? I need to walk the bike up the ramp next to the staircase to reach my house, and I accidentally turned it off. 'Walk assist' would you call that?

Help needed please. Just bought two A20 bikes. Trying to change from hybrid mode to pedal assist but doesn't change. At the moment throttle works on assist level 2 and 3

Reset the settings you go to P 19 and you hold the minus button for 20 seconds
Throttle activation has changed:
Pull left brake and switch controller on and hold for 10 then hold the throttle and right brake for ten now switch off and on again. Assist level 3 and away you go.
Also: in 0 Assist if you press - it will travel at a max of 4.2 mph cruise control.
My A20F pedal assist cuts out at 15 mph in setting 2. Is there any way I can get pedal assist to work at a higher speed?

@@user-ru3ki3yd5q Yes, you can make the pedal assist cut out at a higher speed. Find the setting for wheel size and reduce the size of the wheel. This will increase your maximum pedal assist speed. Use gps to check the speed as the speedometer will no longer be accurate.
Hi all I just bought the a20+ eu version and now it doesn’t come with a throttle proper gutted. Does anyone know if I can just buy a throttle and possibly another controller to get it working? I’m assuming it’s still pretty much the same bike just even more restricted?

that would also depend on if it even got a plug to plug the throttle into or not. More than likely they probably have a plug someplace on the controller that goes un used for the bikes they sell in places that aren't allowed to have a throttle.

just got this awesome bike, but the throttle doesn´t work! I did all the settings from the video and i´ve tryed the hack to unlock the zero start. It won´t work! My Controller is missing some P settings, it ends with P16! Is this a bad sign? Please Help!
Did you fix this? Mine also goes up to P16 only but I have throttle. It's the P9 setting on mine that activates the throttle.
The teacher explained it well! Make sure your bicycle is off, then Accelerate to maximum while touching all the breaks. Put it on and count 20 times, then release the breaks as well as the accelerator at the same time! There you are done. I did it after suffering for a year now! The vice versa is true if you want to activate the pedals!

should try change the voltage settings and make a 12s or 13s battery pack for it, wouldn't fit in the frame but you could have it in a backpack.
Take it out to a dirt path and see how fast it'll go under its own power

Video 1292 shows the motor itself is rated to 36V, so overvolting it might not be the best idea.

Try telling the important point at the beginning not the end as people follow your instructions then find it takes ages to reset controller important facts at the beginning not the end

Sorry to inform but as of today 12/11/2022 the instructions given in your video to switch to throttle mode are incorrect, you need to:
1: Bike off
2: full throttle and front right brake lever (not both levers)
3: hold for 10 seconds (not 20)
4: and finished! Throttle is enabled
This worked on my A20+ that I got yesterday.
Can I ask was this the EU version?

It took me a few tries. I don't know what I did different but it worked! I think you have to follow precisely what he says maybe I was talking short cuts before.
On mine it is the P9 setting that activates the throttle.

Mistake for the manufacturer to NOT INCLUDE a reset to defaults option
probably not mate - different country have different regs and a default reset might well negate some countries regulations and prevent import - that's probably why they updated the s866
