The new Upgraded ADO Hybrid controller bring a lot more functionality to your ADO bike. It offers two main working modes, one is only assisted while the other provides assisted + throttle control. Beside this it has means of quickly switching the modes while we also get all the features of the S866 display that provides up to 20 customizable functions such as assist delay, zero start, acceleration power, fine wheel diameter tuning, etc. Now we also get cruise control function, a highly wanted option that was missing from the original controller.

Hi, love your videos as always. I have A20 older 9 speed assist and want to upgrade as you have but I see ADO have a G drive controller more modern now as it has less cables and they say I can use this but not sure as this has more wires etc if you have any knowledge or experience with this? Thankyou!

hey i just noticed the lights wire that you had to switch didnt match when you joined them back togetber the wer difrent order did it still work thanks
On the first versions of this new controller the wires / polarity was reversed, so yes colors didn't matched but it worked, after that later the controller had a revision to come with correct plug/wires.
Thanks this video was helpful. I ordered the EU version by mistake and it’s costly to send back. It doesn’t have a throttle. So can I buy a throttle and check if my power control supports or if not buy the other control? If someone could help me that would be great. Cheers In advance
Yes, it would work if you get the throttle. Contact ADO support, they are very useful.
Hi, I have a similar situation as you had. How did you solve it, did you buy a new controller?
i hope the a20+ with new controller supports 48v too? because i want to buy a bigger battery with 48v 15ah from alli express...thats a whooping 720wh. cost around 360 euro.
The new and older controller both were dual 36/48V compatible.
Does this controller come as standard on new bikes purchased in 2022?

If it's the new controller, then check my ride video with the upgrade, you need to switch it to hybrid mode first then it will unlock.

I have just bought the UK version of the Ado A20 and the throttle does not work at all for full electric mode. Do I need to upgrade the controller?

TechTronic9000,hanks for the video provided. Could you post a photo of the insides of the old controller. High resolution photo of the board. I'm interested in the brand of keys that so often fail in similar controllers of other electric fat bikes. I just want to buy and have them in stock for repairs. I see no reason to buy a new controller.

The problem with other controllers is that it will not match the wiring so you will have to guess and modify all of it...
when you said throttle wire did u mean display ? isnt the trottle only 3 wires

Hello. I faced such problem. I ordered the international version A20+ on the official website and they sent me a limited version CE for Europe. Will I be able to make it international by connecting another controller and setting the throttle. If so, how to distinguish the old controller without a damper and the new one. thanks for the answer.
On the newer A20+ international version box you get the "CE" marks, but you can unlock it ;)

Hi, i just bought the ADO A20 and changing the speed limit to 35 km/h does not work(seems I have a EU version?). Will replacing the controller fix it?

That has happened as the initial release of the bike had another controller, later a lot of users requested another controller this this became standard for newer bikes. ADO did publish info about this but it was on their AliExpress store page.

I want to increase my speed i have done all the tricks and nothing works plus I have unlocked the speed to 32mph but I can never go more 18mph(the speedometer says 16mph)

Are you referring to the BMS amperage or capacity? The new 48V battery should be able to output constant 15A at least.

Dont bother it only gave me an extra 2mph... Its the controller that needs upgrading because it is limiting the bikes true potential. This controller is not really an upgrade, we need a one with larger amperage and a one that doesnt restrict the motors potential for going faster speeds because this bike is slow even after unlock. Such a shame since this bike has the potential to be a winner
How can I recognize if I have original or new controller? I bough my bike a few days ago. I think it has original controller - however it has for example cruse control (you hold acceleration for 10-15 seconds) it changes to "P" and holds it. Thanks!
If you have cruise controller it's probable you have the new one. Also you should have 3 assisted modes, or 2 assisted + acceleration. Check this video for reference th-cam.com/video/rL0P9gW5x4U/w-d-xo.html

Hi Sir I have a problem for my lcd display in my tomoloo scooter is broken or isn't working anymore and I can't find for replacement of that. So I want to know if this one your the lcd and controller will i buy that same as yours it would be work to me?
Sadly I have never heard of "tomoloo scooter", from my searches it looks like a Xiaomi M365 clone. There are plenty of controllers that will work for it, but I advise you to get a controller for a scooter, not for a ebike. The ones for eBike come pre-programmed for cadence sensor and assist mode, while the scooter ones only have throttle mode.

I have a A20F XE bought just 1 month ago. I have the EU version so no throttle. How can I let it go a bit faster say around 30 km/h? Is that possible? I tried the settings but will not go faster then 25 km/h

My controler says UART. On the outside could I use protocol 2 display with the controller
UART stands for universal asynchronous receiver / transmitter and defines a protocol, or set of rules, for exchanging serial data between two devices. UART is very simple and only uses two wires between transmitter and receiver to transmit and receive in both directions. In ebikes you need to have matching display with matching controller, otherwise even if both use "UART" they will not work.
@@TechTronic9000 thank you so much for the speedy reply,so how would I know which display would work with controller.or is it hit and miss though I know normally you would buy them as a pair but in my case that was not possible any suggestions much appreciated.
It's mostly hit and miss, it's better to buy them in pair from the same manufacturer. You can also ask the manufacturer of the display or controller for a compatible one.

If you have multiple assisted modes or if you can enable / disable throttle like in my video here th-cam.com/video/rL0P9gW5x4U/w-d-xo.html then you have the new one.

The same speed. The upgrade is related to extra features such as hybrid mode, more assisted modes, etc. You can check my other video regarding this controller and testing it.
Since I’ve upgraded the battery to 48v the key switch does not turn off no matter where I select using the key it just stays on but eventually times out or switch off at handle bar controller Is this just a faulty switch on the battery ?
The original switch is built into the battery. Probably the new one only has a locking option but not also an electrical cut.
@@TechTronic9000 Hello thank you for getting back to me Yes you are correct the original battery had key lock and switch built in my new battery only has battery lock so I switch off at the controller on the handle bar I’m ok with this now at least I can remove the key 👍

The upgrade to use a 48volt battery has improved speed and acceleration The key only locks the battery in place but doesn’t switch the battery off I believe that some battery’s are like this So I do remove it after use

Check my video in more detail, there is a plug that has reversed wires, you need to swap them and the light will work.
Hi, I have A16 too, can you unlock max speed on your A16? I can't go over 25km/h with new and old controller same problem and you ?
The new controller needs to be switched into hybrid mode with 2 assist + throttle.

This controller is crap, I upgraded my battery to a 48 volt and the speed difference was only 2 mph more. The controller on this bike underpowers its capabilities and needs a better compatable controller. This bike is slow even after the unlock and its down to this controller limiting its true potential. Shame really cos this bike has the potential to be a winner/#.
Sadly you did something wrong. You either have the old controller and you haven't unlocked it, or the new controller which was not activated to non-EU international mode. Regardless of that with those controllers properly set up on a 48V battery you will easy do 40+km/h.
@@TechTronic9000 You are wrong, I have the new controller I have had it out of the bike and checked it and did all the unlocking via the onboard lcd panel. With the 36 volt battery unlocked i was getting 21 mph, with the 48 volt i was getting 23 mph. for a 12 volt difference this should be doing around 25 to 26 mph, also this controller does not even have a shunt on the pcb, it is very limited and doesnt allow the full potential of the motor.
Then you have the old controller as that one unlocks from settings, see you mixed them up.
@@TechTronic9000 You are saying the new controller is already unlocked? I know this is the new controller because ADO informed me that this model is the updated international version. The bike is underpowered by the controller, it needs a compatable controller that doesnt restrict the motors ability. Motors can take a lot more voltage than they are rated for and it wont harm them, it is current that will damage the motor not voltage but this controller limits the amount of voltage and amperage to the motor underpowering its ability to do more. The EU version is not really 250 watts, ALL of these models are capable of 500 watts when unlocked via the controller regardless of how they are marked. What im trying to say is that these controllers are still restricting power even after unlocking top speed regardless of voltage increase.
