That was the most complete video of how to set these up. I have just ordered one of these as my controller has gone bad and was wondering what happens if I remove my battery from the bike to take indoors to charge. Does the display loose all the settings and have to be re-programmed again when I put the battery back ? Many thanks for the video and I await your reply.
@@TechTronic9000 Thanks so much for that, My controller and display arrived this afternoon. I have installed them and find the pedal assist will not work but the walk assist works when I hold the - button down. I maybe need to look at the settings when I have more time. Thanks again and I have just subbed.
@@TechTronic9000 Thanks for that, it appears the problem is with the PAS sensor on the crank. It's wired colour for colour on the plug and the LED on the sensor flashes as I turn crank but no rotation of motor. If I touch the blue and black wires in the PAS sensor plug from the controller together at one second intervals or faster the motor runs fine. I guess the sensor may not be compatible with the controller, any thoughts would be great. Thanks again.
Hi there. Thanks for the great video. My ado A16+ only has 3 assist and throttle only works on assist 3. If I change it to to 5 assist, does the throttle work in all levels? I am curious to know. Thanks
So my a20 is not the same brand but it is an a20 same controller.. the speed limit only go from 1-45 but at 45 it still limits to 29 mph... okay.. but my question is this... if I change the voltage cut off which is at 29.. say I turn it down to 25... theoretically I will get more miles before the bike shuts off from low battery but will it ruin my motor or anything else?
@@swangodesignsThe Voltage cut off is to protect the battery, not the motor. Allowing the Voltage to go too low wears them out quicker, as well as potentially killing them.
@@swangodesigns 🔹reducing the cut off voltage *will damage your battery!* but not the motor. Lithium batteries do NOT like to be deeply discharged. 🔹If the motor controller you have uses the amperage limit setting (P14) from the panel (it may not), increasing this may increase your top speed. *Be careful* and don't adjust this number over the battery output or motor input capacity in Amps. This CAN fry the controller and burn up the windings in the motor if you exceed their amperage rating. 🔹Just to be sure: If the motor is rated 750 watts @10 amps, DO NOT increase the output limit over 10 amps. 🔹The battery also has a maximum amperage output. This depends mostly on the battery cells used to make the whole battery. If the battery has a low total amperage output this will effect the top speed of the motor. Normally a 14 to 20 Ahr battery feeding a 1000 watt motor, with a nominal cargo weight of 145 lbs, 29 to 30 mph is pretty much top end performance.
How the cruise control works is once you turn it on, You use the throttle to get to the set speed you want, Then you hold the down button on the display. It takes up to 20 seconds to activate it you'll see a P. Other bikes that I have it activates way quicker but would this controller it's quite slow to activate. So basically get your set speed do you want then hold the down button. If you start pedaling or touch the throttle on this controller it turns it off instantly. On my other bike you can pedal or throttle and then let off and it will stay at the set speed original. Also using the brake will turn it off.
The best video dealing with this.👍 I have to include that these are the same settings on the EN06 control panel, however the documentation is either very ambiguous or completely lacking for some of the settings pages. Your explanations have cleared up most of these mysterious settings. A note to other viewers: Although the panel may have an adjustable setting, whether or not it has an effect on your bike's behavior depends on the model motor controller you use.
Very informative video Sir.. Thank you for this. I have a Emotorad t-rex which has this display unit. Due to restrictions in India i'm unable to go beyond 25km/h. Now I set it to 35km/h it runs more faster than usual. Thank you ❤️
Hellow sir i want to ask something, I have doutts c29 ebike, Am using P03: Setting on 48v And my ebike also supporting 48 but my battery didnt give me good performance, It'll get low very early. So i want to ask can i use it as 36v??? Or its can be damage my controller and motor??? Plz guide me sir.
great help, can you pls explain how the manual 7 shimano gears work? Can I use them when the bike is on electric mode (not talking about the throttle, I don t have a throttle)
You can use them like on any other bike, you can freely select gears while pedaling so that you get the speed and cadence that you are comfortable with.
I have hitway bk11 and ive changed it to 100 speed limit but it still doesnt go past 25kmph is that because i dont have a throttle? Can it go past the limit in pedal assist mode? Very gratefull for any reply.
Thanks! I got a new Himo z20 and it has this controller instead of old with 2 buttons. Can you also explain how the main menu works? The options I have are: - odo - trip - vol - cur - rm - t1 I'm not what they all mean (except for the first one which is showing km I've ridden so far), how to use or reset the others.
Hi have to mention the other problem some bikes are sent out with throttle disconnected and have the new controller fitted To unlock you have to hold right hand brake and full throttle in off position turn on bike wait 10 seconds then turn off then back on then the motor will work
Then you are lucky you got the new generation controller, a very wanted upgrade part for our older initial ADO bikes. You can check my other videos in regards to this matter.
Can you please help me to get my throttle mode back on .. I have E 08 on screen. I think the problem that caused it was after I carried a bag over the handlebars and it maybe has hit something like the horn and lamp buttons.. not really sure tho.. that was directly after this happened (No Throttle) Ado A20F Thanks for great videos.

Thanks for this video, very handy! I just bought a ADO A20+ international and I tried to unlock the speed limit. Already set P8 to 100 and P5 to more levels of assist. But yesterday when I tried it I could not go faster than 25 km/h. Don't know why... Does the 35 km/h only works in hybrid mode with throttle or does it also work with electric assist? I didn't receive the throttle yet, so can't try that.
More levels of assist will not give you more speed. I'm not totally sure about your E-bike model but mine has 3 levels. If I change it to 5 or higher, it just basically continues assist levels 3 to the highest assist level "number on display"
What about the main screen not in the settings? I've seen some S866 displays look different with the battery meter at the top and able to show watts/current
That is just a test for the LCD screen. The controller is not programmed to show the %, you can use the "VOL", voltage for even more accurate monitoring.
Hello! Can this bike be tuned? Take this to mean that I want to include a 48V battery. This should increase your range in pure electric mode. At 0:44, you said that this bike knows the 48V system. What should I pay attention to when buying a battery?
Yes this bike in particular comes with a a 36/48V compatible controller. The motor will also go fine on 48V. The performance will see a large boost in speed, acceleration and range.
P08 has not allowed me to overcome 15.5mph limit it only adjusts the percentage of 15.5mph so at 100 it does 15.5 and at 72 it does 11.2mph, how do I overcome this
Hi! I got my A20F for about 4 days now. I'm in Hybrid mode using the throttle in the third assist mode. When I'm in the second assist mode I get pedal assist until 25 km/h. Unfortunately it feels like I'm pedalling ''air'' even when I'm in 7th gear (It feels very light). I want to be able to give more power myself so the bike doesn't have to give so much motor power and let the battery drain faster.
Check my other videos where I show how to enable 5 modes for hybrid, you will have 3 assist modes and 2 electric throttle modes. Also you can upgrade the chain ring for a bigger one. You can also join the user group for more ideas and mods: facebook.com/groups/adobike01
Great explanation! Thank you! I need help: all is working fine on my bike, but today it stopped showing the speed and registering kilometers, then it worked again later, now it's not working anymore. What could be the reason? Thank you!
very good explanation for the settings , i did not see anything on regards to the Battery Indicator , as mine does not go down with use , so i can not see how much power is left after a period of time , maybe the battery indicator is fulty ? what would you advice ?
Should the voltage be set to match the battery? My battery is 48v, so should I set it to that? Or is under volting okay? I got my bike second hand and all the settings have been changed for max speed lol so I wanted to make sure all the settings are okay. Don't want to damage the battery
There are 2 voltage settings, one is for the cut-off so you don't over discharge it, while the other is for nominal voltage so that the controller know hos to display how much % battery is still left.
Yes, you have more levels but in the same range. This is useful when you enable the throttle on the ADO bikes as it uses the top assist level for throttle and you lose an assisted mode if you are on the basic 3 modes.
THANK YOU So So So Much ❤ This video has helped me set up my Bezior XF001 👍🏽 My controller is different but the interface is exactly the same for the list of settings 1-20 👍🏽 You seem to be the only person who explains all the settings in detail on the whole of Yourube haha 😆 So thank you again from Scotland 🏴
No, it will just show wrong speed as that setting is just for display calibration. You can check my other related videos about ADO bike to see how to unlock them.
@@TechTronic9000 ok thanks . I will do . My bike was limited to 15 mph I've unlocked that but my bike only does about 19 or 20 mph if I peddle really fast. Hopefully I can get it abit faster

Is that on a panther e movement? I just copied all your settings , it feels so much faster , p19 cruise control I had to turn off , it’s bloody scary:)
I tried all these settings as well and the torque was too strong and bike was too fast, at least for me living in a city. So I found a nice combination which also saved the battery life.
@@seanpatterson9244 The top speed I obtained (out of the city on a quiet flat cycle path with no wind was 35 kph. I weigh about 78 k and have my backpack and computer on me. But it was the startup speed that scared me in teh city after changing some settings. The bike would go from zero to 20 in seconds. Yeah, the cruise control would kick-in all the time too! I found a happy-medium setting which helped sustain battery life. I haven't used it much later since I don't commute as often.
@@GaryInAmsterdam that is quick! Nice on a flat clear road, but around a crowd I imagine it isn’t very nice , especially because the bikes turning circle and movement isn’t as easy as a standard bike , and that cruise control I found was horrible at top speed . What you're probably going to do is go to the odometer setting and then push and hold (-) button. I doubt it but it may also be the power button, having to hold that
Hey guys hope someone can help, im very new to this, i bought a prebuilt ebike and had a spare 3 pin connector (orange) ive bought a thumb throttle 3pin (orange) but when i connect it i get a E07 error on the bottom of my display. Would anyone have any idea of whats happening please😂 thank you!

Very informative, thank you! I don’t understand the P15 option though. Are you saying you’ve set it at 29V which makes the Bike battery turn off once it gets to this voltage when riding? I’ve got a 12-15 mile commute to work and I plan to re-charge the battery when I get there. My plan is to set the P15 option to 0v or 1v. Is there any harm to the battery in doing that?
P15 is a battery over-discharge protection built into the controller. At 29V you are at 2.9V/cell which is already low, going lower that that it will quickly destroy the battery.
No matter what the setting is on the display, the bms in the battery will shut down at a safe level (low voltage cut-off). Also, how far cells can safely be discharged depends on which cells they are. Some can safely be discharged to 2.75, or even 2.5v.
If p9 is activated (accelerator from zero) then by pressing and hold the minus symbol the motor is activated perhaps to enter walking mode off the bicycle and pushing it by hand
My bikes odometer and speed is off compared to a GPS unit I have. Which setting do I use to adjust this? My display is slower and shows fewer miles than the GPS unit. Thanks in advance for your help.
Thank you so much. I have an A26 and this video helps me a lot. I just have a question: Is it normal when I go through a hole in high speed, the display shuts down and sometimes it's hard to turn it on again. Many times the display only turn on if I push and pull weakly the battery.
I got my first ebike a few days ago. I'd like to change the displayed speed for the bike (max, 21MPH) but it shows 35-40MPH which is wrong. I would adjust the P18 parameter?
This doesn't sound right. I would change it back to the defaults and carefully watch the video again. You want it to go faster or just display the correct speed? Hi great video I bought my bike a couple of weeks ago The throttle does not work even after your set up advise I complained to the shop and asked for a new throttle this arrived eventually I fitted off the bike went through the set up but still does not work would this be a faulty controller
You need to enable the throttle from the settings, also enable zero start. Also if it's the new controller check my videos regarding it. You also need to enable throttle mode on it.
No it's not possible as the bike has a geared motor with a one way clutch that allows freewheeling with no drag but can not be spun back by motion thus there is no engine brake / Regen brake.
I've tried unlocking the speed from p08 menu (I set it 100) but speed is still limited to 25. Is it possible that it's locked in hardware? My himo z20 doesn't have the throttle handle like in their older versions btw, it only works when I pedal.

Lots of comments about "old controller" and "new controller" - We can only see the one we have and have no way of comparing. How can we tell the difference?. What should we look for - type number?, serial number?, display and/or mode options?. There must be a quick way to identify each type.
For that you can check my controller swap where i talk about details, you see both controller and how to replace them: th-cam.com/video/Pyl3P8tiyhA/w-d-xo.html then you can follow up the test ride where I explain more about it and show how it works: th-cam.com/video/rL0P9gW5x4U/w-d-xo.html
Once again thank you for your reply I set it at 000 on program 9 but throttle still not working even after replacing throttle It must be the controller at fault as I have set all programs as suggested thank you

You are doing that on your own responsibility, you could check if the A16 controller has 36/48V written on it. If it has 48V then you can put a 48V battery and change it from the LCD settings from 36V to 48V, it will turn into a pocket rocket ;)
@@TechTronic9000 thanks. It has a 48v setting however i was wondering if the increased voltage would burn-break the motor on the long term since it is rated at 36V.

I just got an A16 this week was working perfectly, but I noticed over the last two days only the pedal mode assist was accelerating me and not the right trigger. It seemed as though the right was broken but I don’t know any ideas ?
Hi, any ideas why my milometer has stopped recording the miles properly (got the first 11 miles done and seems to have gone bad). Also, the battery seems to show low bars very quickly, say after a few miles (4m) of riding part assisted mainly and a bit of throttle and getting 1-2 bars on assist 2 and peddling ( bike is set to 36v ). Bit worrying for a longer journey if I have just got the bike and the battery is fully charged? Regards
Also check your tire diameter. If you accidentally changed it to something ridiculously small, your odometer might not have registered enough distance yet. Just a suggestion but the values might not go that small
Hello. I watched the video. I still have a problem. I have the Ado xe 16 bike. Same controller. BUT, in PO5 setting, it gives me only 5 assistance levels, NOT 9. Generally, the problem is that it doesn' t reach 25km speed. And I have to pedal too much, just to give me a little boost. I want just to do one-two pedal and then boost. I want the less delay, the more boost, the fastest it can be. What exactly have to do in settings to achieve that? Thank you!
@@TechTronic9000 Hi again. I watched the other videos but i did not figure out how to unlock speed limit. My ebike is Ado XE 16 (there is no throttle). It has the same controller, the S866. It has two choices for speed assistance. Either max 3, or max 5. There are no 9 levels of speed among my choices. And the fastest it can go is 21km. It never reached 22km. What can i do to go faster?
The 9 levels isn't going to help you at all, especially if the bike only supports 3 or 5 levels. What you want to change are P11 and P12. P11 is the delay before the assist happens (1 to 24) 24 being long delay (personaly, I use this setting to increase distance/batt life) set yours to 1. P12 is PAS acceleration value (1 to 5). Set this to 5. This is how these settings should work. Hopefully it works for u.

I have installed them and find the pedal assist will not work but the walk assist works when I hold the - button down. I maybe need to look at the settings when I have more time. Thanks again and I have just subbed.
Check motor magnets, and check assisted sensor type settings, also adjust the assist delay.
Maybe the sensor wires are not corresponding with the controller one.
Thank you. The very best explainer on TH-cam.

I've noticed my stem is wobbling after a few weeks. If you have a video on that, I'd love to watch it.

@@swangodesigns
🔹reducing the cut off voltage *will damage your battery!* but not the motor.

I have to include that these are the same settings on the EN06 control panel, however the documentation is either very ambiguous or completely lacking for some of the settings pages.
Your explanations have cleared up most of these mysterious settings.
A note to other viewers: Although the panel may have an adjustable setting, whether or not it has an effect on your bike's behavior depends on the model motor controller you use.
Thanks and also very good note about the compatibility with the motor controller.

Then you are lucky you got the new generation controller, a very wanted upgrade part for our older initial ADO bikes. You can check my other videos in regards to this matter.

Not in the frame as the space is limited, you need an external one.
Did you need throttle I'm having the same issue.
Mine shows watts and current. I think it is the earlier version of the display as I have had it several years.
When I start it up it shows that there is a battery percentage section. How do you get that active on the screen?
That is just a test for the LCD screen. The controller is not programmed to show the %, you can use the "VOL", voltage for even more accurate monitoring.
Hello!
Can this bike be tuned?
Take this to mean that I want to include a 48V battery.
This should increase your range in pure electric mode.
At 0:44, you said that this bike knows the 48V system.
What should I pay attention to when buying a battery?
Yes this bike in particular comes with a a 36/48V compatible controller. The motor will also go fine on 48V. The performance will see a large boost in speed, acceleration and range.

Hi! I got my A20F for about 4 days now. I'm in Hybrid mode using the throttle in the third assist mode. When I'm in the second assist mode I get pedal assist until 25 km/h.
I assume more assistance modes is just more modes not any faster?
Yes, you have more levels but in the same range. This is useful when you enable the throttle on the ADO bikes as it uses the top assist level for throttle and you lose an assisted mode if you are on the basic 3 modes.

You don't want to run it that low as irreversible damage to battery may occur
hey what would be the best setting for battery under voltage protection thanks??
Not lower than 32-33V for longer lifespan, you can even choose 34V but it might cut out too early.

It looks like you have the old controller model, you might want to upgrade to the newer controller, that woul give it 3 assist modes. You can also tame this controller by reducing acceleration power (see in video).
@@TechTronic9000 Thank you very much for the info, I would greatly appreciate it if you make a separate video tutorial about that, I'm sure many have the same problem. Thanks. Btw, I have Cruise activated, that means I have the newer version of a controller?
Yes.The walking assist or cruising mode.
Cruise mode is the possibility to keep the speed constant in all the available throttle range, walk assist is fixed at 6km/h.
@@TechTronic9000 thats right.and cruise mode can be set in any speed you want.
Help!
I can no longer get the full throttle mode. neither will it go beyond the 25km/hr speed limit. Any idea what the cause is?
Thank you for the upload
Have you activated the throttle, have you selected maximum (3) assisted mode? Also check P08 setting to be higher than 25km/h
@@TechTronic9000 thanks! 👍🏾
I was able to fix it - now cruising at 35kmh
Lots of comments about "old controller" and "new controller" - We can only see the one we have and have no way of comparing. How can we tell the difference?. What should we look for - type number?, serial number?, display and/or mode options?. There must be a quick way to identify each type.
For that you can check my controller swap where i talk about details, you see both controller and how to replace them: th-cam.com/video/Pyl3P8tiyhA/w-d-xo.html then you can follow up the test ride where I explain more about it and show how it works: th-cam.com/video/rL0P9gW5x4U/w-d-xo.html
Hey I got my ADO A20+ the other day, loving it. Im unsure how t oactivate cruise control though, any ideas? Pretty sure mines the new controller.
Cruise control can be activated by holding and maintaining the throttle at the desire speed for 5 seconds
If it's the new one, the cruise control activates after keeping throttle constant for several seconds.
You may have to do that and also hold (-) for approximately 5sec. I have an S866 display.
Once again thank you for your reply I set it at 000 on program 9 but throttle still not working even after replacing throttle It must be the controller at fault as I have set all programs as suggested thank you
Is it the new controller version? That needs activation for throttle with a different procedure. You can see both controller and how to replace them: th-cam.com/video/Pyl3P8tiyhA/w-d-xo.html then you can follow up the test ride where I explain more about it and show how it works: th-cam.com/video/rL0P9gW5x4U/w-d-xo.html
PO9 set to "000" will disable throttle. Try PO9 set to 002
Hello I have throttle on my e-bike but how to get it to work?
Depends on your bike model, controller version and LCD controller display. On some it's not even possible.
@ ohh oké and if I can do it what setting?
Hi, Your videos are excellent!! Very detailed so I can know what to expect when I buy an ebike. Could you tell me how many teeth the crank wheel has? You talked about increasing it to 58 teeth so the rider doesn’t ‘ghost’ pedal. Your English is perfect!! Thanks, Bill (UK)
The sprocket has has 48 teeth. Thanks for watching and consider subscribing ;)
How shall I turn on the battery percentage indicator?
It is not possible.
Will it be safe to put 48V on my Ado 16 350W?
You are doing that on your own responsibility, you could check if the A16 controller has 36/48V written on it. If it has 48V then you can put a 48V battery and change it from the LCD settings from 36V to 48V, it will turn into a pocket rocket ;)
@@TechTronic9000 thanks. It has a 48v setting however i was wondering if the increased voltage would burn-break the motor on the long term since it is rated at 36V.
Hey, thank you for video. Very useful.
Is it possible to show battery life in percentage “%”? When I turn on the display I can see for a few moments percentage and then it will be disabled.
By pressing power and “+” button I can enable Max (MAX) and Average (AVG) modes. But I can’t switch to Distance (DST) mode. Can you please help me? Thank you in advice 😊
Battery is displayed only as "bars" and accurate as voltage.
Hi from portugal
Can whe wash bike whit water whit no problems?
Is there any precautions?
The whole to unlock battery can enter water and damage electric part?
Not with power wash, but with wet sponge / bucket it is ok.
Hi i just want to reset the mileage travel, is it posible reset just that?
P16 should do that.
@@TechTronic9000 thank you so much im going to try it, hope not to mess anything else 😄
Hello. Excellent video mate.
I just got a second hand ADO A20 and I try to reset odometer but I can't do it.
I am at P16 pushing the minus button to change my km to 0 but nothing happens
I am buying one of these it’s brand new they replaced lcd. It goes full electric mode slow and fast but they are saying the manual throttle doesn’t work or the brakes so they think the controller isn’t working. Can you help?
does this also work on lafly x3 electric ebike?
I don't know that model, sorry.
Does this also work for the XE versions? Or are those stuck at 25kmh
For the XE it's even more simple, it's like on this video th-cam.com/video/rL0P9gW5x4U/w-d-xo.html
Hi sir, i need to change my wheel diameter setting because my km/h meter is not accurate, but i cant change any setting besides p8 and p10, do you maybe know how to change it?
Is it an ADO bike? Maybe it's another controller?
@@TechTronic9000 no its an ouxi v7 pro.
Regards
check all the plugs and wires, check and adjust the brakes, also check tire pressure.
Also check your tire diameter. If you accidentally changed it to something ridiculously small, your odometer might not have registered enough distance yet. Just a suggestion but the values might not go that small
What level would you recommend to set on p12? My pedal assist stopped working suddenly I'm.not sure if I moved it without noticing
Check all the wires and also check the sensor to still be seated in the proper position.
@@TechTronic9000 where can I find the sensor on my bike? It's a Zip swft bike
It should be on the pedal shaft
How does the throttle work? Because it doesnt work on mine
You might have the newer controller model, have a look at this video where I show how to enable the throttle th-cam.com/video/rL0P9gW5x4U/w-d-xo.html
Thank you!
Check my other video with ADO bikes, your XE has another type of controller with just 16 settings so you unlock it in other way.
Hello i have joust bought ado 20 and i have a problem with the throttle, is is not responding as it should be .I have made the adjustment as you describe in the video but i twist the throttle but it is not working .I only have petal assist..can you advice something
Maybe you have the new controller so check this video here to see how to enable it th-cam.com/video/rL0P9gW5x4U/w-d-xo.html
